We just got back home from our mini road trip to Rosarito, and we can't stop thinking about this amazing taco spot! Everything was perfect--the flavorful meat, the delicious red salsa, and the melted cheese. Every bite was incredible. The customer service was just as impressive. The guys at the taco bar were friendly, welcoming, and worked quickly, and the lady clearing the tables was so attentive and kind. Walking distance from our hotel. Wow. This place is a 10/10! My #1 absolute fave flour tortilla carne asada taco. These tacos are grilled over oak wood logs for added flavor. They are HUGE once will do it for most but I order two. They call or it a perrone which is a flour tortillas with melted cheese, asada, pinto beans, cilantro, onions, and guacamole taco. Their roasted jalapeños are such a great add. Yes - the line is long. Yes - you should wait. Yes - it is worth every bite! I was brought here by a friend. We came on Thursday at around 3:00. The line was ok not too intimidating. However, everyone in line said, the line is usually very, very long. We chatted about what we would eat and I was told to try the original Perron - which I did. Oh my gosh! It was excellent. I also ordered a Mexican coke which I don't normally do and it went great with the taco. They are on the larger side but I happily ate two. This is a cash only place. Its kind of on the honor system. You place your order on one side for tacos and on the other side for drinks. You then go to the middle to tell the cashier what you ordered. There are plenty of tables and also standing bar tables. I've been going to Rosarito for four decades. How in the world I didn't know about Tacos El Yaqui is beyond me.... I guess that is what happens when you started out as a teenager who hung out at the beach bars and never ventured east of Benito Juarez (the main drag) before. My go to taco place in both Tijuana and Rosarito for 40 years had always been El Paisano (they have locations in both). And, although El Paisano still has fantastic street tacos, I have to say that at my one visit to Tacos El Yaqui a couple of weeks ago that I said "These are the best tacos I've ever had in Rosarito". The quality of meat (flank steak) at El Yaqui was simply outstanding, and definitely noticeable over every other taco place that I've ever been to in Baja. Although they have no salsa bar the roasted jalapenos (located to the left of the cashier) provided a perfect pop to the tacos, providing me a meal with flavors and textures that were delectable. Thank you Yelpers for directing me to this most excellent place. I will be certain to come back here on my next trip to Rosarito for some more of Yaqui's deliciousness. It's located on a corner with good foot and car traffic, and even though parking is limited, we always manage to find street parking nearby. The staff is professional, bilingual, and super attentive to keeping things organized and clean. Ordering is easy: tell the chef what you want, then pay in a second line. Signs are posted all over in both English and Spanish, which makes it very visitor friendly. They accept cash only (USD or pesos), and drinks are simple canned sodas and bottled juices. We drove straight here after landing a the Tijuana airport. The line was very long and moved very slowly. The only good thing is that you get your food when you order. It takes long when you have a couple that takes 20 tacos to-go for others. We all ordered their "Perron." It came with skirt steak, beans, cheese, onions, cilantro, salsa and guacamole all inside a big flour tortilla. These tacos are massive. Even if you have a big appetite, two is more than enough. I had planned on eating a bigger meal after this little "snack" so we all ordered one taco each. The arrachera was very good. Very tender and went perfectly with the beans and the guac. Although I'm hesitant in actually calling this a taco. I guess we can get into the whole is a hot dog a sandwich debate, but this Perron has melted cheese, so is it a quesadilla? A colleague highly recommended this spot in Rosarito for tacos and it was so delicious! Very solid spot for tacos. We came during lunch and luckily only 10-15 minute wait but the line wasn't too bad as long as you knew what you wanted to order right when you got to the front. We probably waited another 15 min for the food to come out after. We loved the perronnes which comes with all the fixings, asada, beans, cheese, and guacamole. These are rather large too! The meat was tender, onions and cilantro were bright and springy and the flour tortillas and guac were fresh, and the cheese/beans sealed it all together. You can ask for jalapenos on the side too. Stayed in Rosarito for the weekend and of course I had to bring the boyfriend, from Chicago here. Perrones were absolutely amazing, fresh, and super quick even with the long line. The employees are fun to talk to and joke around with the customers as they're serving. Everyone seems happy and it's amazing to see... We love our coke out of bottles and they did not have. Could do with a beer, but there is a liquor store across the street. I did see a customer tip with beers and the staff was grateful (we did not see them crack em open tho). I know parking can be a B right there, but we didn't have any issues. Also cool to see horses parking there as well- something you won't see in Chicago so the boyfriend was like a little kid seeing a rancher w his big ole cowboy hat ride in on his horse for lunch. Probably been coming for 10 years now- smells are wonderful, food is always on point, super clean tables, plenty of seating, and great bathrooms.
