Pretty high end hotel that was recently remodeled (still undergoing some construction though). We booked through Amex's FHR and they upgraded us to a room that was perfect for a view of the Hilton Hawaii Village fireworks on Friday nights. The room was so clean and quiet. I slept like a baby in the king sized bed! I also liked how there was a small kitchen with cookware and a microwave. We were celebrating a minimoon and were gifted a bottle of champagne, a bar of chocolate, and a lovely fruit platter. Service was impeccable, from check-in to dining to pool service. Breakfast was included in our stay and the food was quite impressive. Not only do you get the breakfast buffet, but you get to order as many small plates as you'd like (mind you, they're already quite filling), and one large plate. You can also take your leftovers to go. Honestly, I would eat breakfast and be set until dinner most days. At the pool, they also brought around ice cream or smoothies to keep guests refreshed. They did so pretty frequently. The pool was also never super busy, which was nice as we just came from another hotel where the pool was constantly packed. You do get a small view, but it's mostly blocked by other buildings. There's a decent gym that also was never super busy. It's on the same floor as the spa. We contemplated treatments, but ultimately never went. read more

This hotel deserves more than 5 stars! We've never been so impressed with a resort on the islands that we would think about going again in the same year! Great location, very accessible to stores and the beach, and also secluded in a sense you're not in the middle of all the hustle and bustle. We came as a family of three. Not only did they gave us a warm welcome, but they provided plenty of accommodations for our baby. A baby robe which was the cutest, but also a diaper genie baby bath tub and toiletries. We were so impressed! The room views were amazing and our room was upgraded which was a super plus! Breakfast was amazing! Our favorites were their mochi pancakes. Recently remodeled and one of the best locations to enjoy the Hilton Hawai'i Village fireworks on Fridays, especially if you stay on the Ewa side. The service is warm and genuinely friendly. One area that still needs improvement is the elevator--it could be much quieter, and the system would benefit from modernization, particularly allowing floor selection at the entrance. Renovations are still ongoing, so access to the pool is limited. That said, the pool itself is small. If a large or resort-style pool is a priority, this may not be the best choice, and you may want to look elsewhere. What I truly love about this place is the "calm." It's ideal if you want a quiet stay and plan to spend most of your time relaxing in your room from the lanai. read more

Wow. This was a beautiful and luxurious retreat from home for us. The service from Saori, Helena, and everyone we encountered was top tier. They clearly realize that patrons are spending good money for the finer things and they provide service on that level. Our room was ocean view with kitchen and balcony. We had the best time with our bathroom shower that sprayed onto full soaking tub in a wet area. Mane! I can't even go into it. The pool is not the largest but great for a dip and sip on your Hawaiian Mai Tai. The servers at the pool were stellar, bringing little treats and snacks while we enjoyed the shade from the sun. The newly opened restaurant, Kina, was tasty and beautiful. The open air and views were spectacular. Walking the 3 minutes to beach was easy and we appreciated the beach supplies given by the concierge. Breakfast was a feast of all royalty. We had made to order omelettes, French toast, fruit, yogurt, breakfast potatoes, spinach, meats, breads, and my favorite item, the açaí bowl. As a Hilton regular, I chose Ka Laʻi Waikiki Beach because I wanted something a little quieter than the nearby Hilton Hawaiian Village, and in many ways it delivered. The room was spectacular, with an apartment-style layout that included a small kitchen, comfortable living area, spacious bathroom, and a large balcony with beautiful views of the Pacific Ocean. It was the kind of room you could happily spend all day in. Unfortunately, my stay happened to coincide with the lobby renovation, and I don't feel the impact of the construction was fully communicated before I arrived. Closed elevators led to long waits, navigating multiple flights of stairs became part of the daily routine, and the already small pool and only operating restaurant felt even more crowded. After eight nights, the limited, unchanging restaurant menu also became repetitive. To make matters worse, a partially functioning showerhead in my room was never addressed despite being reported. None of these issues ruined the trip because, after all, you're still in paradise, but when you're paying premium rates, it's reasonable to expect a more polished experience. I would consider staying here again because the accommodations themselves were outstanding, but only after confirming the construction is complete and the hotel is operating at full capacity. read more

Fabulous room with an ocean view, overlooking Waikiki with diamond head in the distance! Epic Waikiki! Then, we relaxed at the pool, had dinner at Wai'olu Ocean! Great dinner! Lovely evening and view looking out to the northwest. Then, a great buffet breakfast at the restaurant the following morning. So nice. Located just one hotel back from the beach. Recommended! Wow for the service and this luxury hotel! Upon checking in we mentioned that we were celebrating mom's birthday and when we got back to the room later that evening, there was a chocolate cake with a candle and "happy birthday" written on the plate waiting for us in the fridge. Everyone at the hotel greeted us by name as we came and went. As for the hotel itself, it is just stunning. The infinity pool is surrounded by comfortable beds and chairs to lounge and relax. Our room had an amazing balcony, ocean view, full kitchen, luxurious bathrooms, great beds, linens, and towels. The toiletries were so good that I wanted to buy some, but it turns out the Byredo shampoos and conditioners are made exclusively for luxury hotels. Staying here is a real treat, so I highly recommend it if within your budget (or you have a million points like we did). I didn't realize this used to be a Trump hotel, but am happy that it is now a Hilton Hotel :) read more

We stayed in the one bedroom suite for a family staycation. They think of everything! The room is fully stocked, toiletries, kitchen items, coffee maker, ice machine, laundry detergent, dish soap, you don't need to bring anything. Not sure why Google rates this as a 4 star hotel it's definitely a luxury 5 star hotel. I LOVED this hotel. Very friendly service, near the beach. Still super close to the strip but not ON the strip where all the noise is. And best of all it's not super huge like some of the strip hotels which means no long waits at the hotels and no overcrowding at the pool/ breakfast. 100% staying here on all future trips. This is a winner! Even with the ongoing construction, Ka La'i LXR scores points for their upscale feel and accommodating Ahola spirit. The hotel is currently under construction (7/2025), and it is now under the Hilton umbrella (formally Trump). Right now there's only one restaurant. Although it is smaller and a block off the beach, it is lovely and has some beautiful rooms. I felt and appreciated the Asian influence. Our suite was equipped with a kitchen with small fridge (not mini bar), cooktop, sink, coffee maker and hot tea kettle. Very nice pots and kitchenware provided (yes, even chopsticks). The view is gorgeous and the bathroom was a bidet toilet with warmer, an open concept shower, and soaking tub. It's very spacious in there and good to move about while bathing a few kids at a time. It was just Hubby and I, for the last leg of our anniversary trip, and we loved it. Concierge has beach chairs, umbrellas and towels, although they should offer more quality such as Tommy Bahama, which can withstand the Waikiki beach breezes. Staff is so friendly and helpful, especially bellman and concierge. One hiccup, we were told we had breakfast included. After eating at the restaurant twice, we found out it was only a $50 daily credit. But they were able to adjust and make things right. We used the hot tub/pool, which is nice and stays open late. We didn't use the spa, but i know that it's small and for treatments only (no wet lounge). It's a little on the pricey side, but it's worth it to have a beautiful, clean, and model room in a great little hotel! I'd like to revisit one day when renos are done. read more

Booked this hotel on a whim since it had a great deal with points, and we had never stayed here before. We ended up booking two rooms for our family and from start to finish had a wonderful experience. The staff were amazing. Bret at the front desk was especially kind and even offered us an upgrade to a suite, which was such a nice surprise. We originally booked two rooms using points, which probably says a lot about how often we stay with Hilton. We travel to Honolulu multiple times a year to visit our daughter who lives there full time, and over the years we've stayed at two different condos in Hilton Village as well as several standard Hilton rooms in Honolulu. This property was by far our favorite out of all of them. The location was perfect. You're right in the main strip of Waikiki, so getting in and out was easy, and we were close to everything. I've always felt like Hilton Village is a little farther from the main strip, so this location made a big difference for us. They were doing some construction during our stay, but it really wasn't an issue since we were mostly in and out of the hotel enjoying the island. Also room service was outstanding! We didn't know what to expect when we drove up to the hotel. Never heard of it, just knew it was a Hilton and we could use our points. The property is FANTASTIC. It's very clean, tucked away from the touristy traffic of Waikīkī and has a spa like vibe. The rooms are great with a small lanai that you can enjoy HH outside of your room. The bathroom is all marble and the tub is super deep. The Infinity pool and hot tub is open till 10pm. Valet only. The most important mention of staying here is THE STAFF! My cousin asked me to join him on a short visit to Oahu and was able to get a room here with his Amex points. The deal was book 3 nights and get a 4th for free, averaging the cost to about $350/night. Parking is valet only and $40/night. We were upgraded to a partial ocean view with a king bed and a pull out couch. I slept on the couch bed and was surprised by how comfortable it was. It made noise when I moved but I passed out each night. The bed is definitely much more comfortable and he slept well too. The bathroom has a huge tub (which I took advantage of) and is deep and wide. The shower is next to it and it has nice pressure. We had dual sinks and a bidet as well as a kitchen. Our view was relaxing and we could see the water through a few buildings. We took a dip in the pool, which is on the smaller side with the jacuzzi in the middle. Breakfast was included in our deal and it had fresh fruit and veggies, some Japanese options as well as oatmeal, an omelet bar, varying egg benedicts, sausage, bacon French toast or waffles, and a variety of breads/pastries. We loved the Guava juice as it wasn't too thick or sweet. The gym was a decent size with lots of cardio equipment and options for free weights as well as machines. Bottled water and fruit were available as well as rolled damp towels to cool off after and standard workout towels. The library was across the way with many books in Japanese but is a nice place to relax and read if you want to get some quiet time. Beach towels are available near the building entrance and they provide seemingly unlimited reusable bags to carry them and other things as well. We really appreciated this service as we could drop off the Sandy towels before we went into the hotel and the bags were exceedingly helpful for all the things we purchased. The staff is fantastic. They offered to help at every turn. Everyone was very friendly and smiled a lot. We felt very welcome wherever we were in the establishment. Overall 5 stars: Hands down the best luxury pet friendly hotel in Waikiki! From the exceptional service to the personalized details that made my stay an unforgettable one. Service 5 stars: Upon arriving to the valet, we were met with warm greetings and had our bags unloaded by the guest service team. We were then escorted to the elevators that took us to the front desk. We were greeted with refreshing cucumber mint water and pineapple and star fruit jelly candy. Once we were checked in, our bags were on the same elevator going to our room. No waiting around for our luggage. Upon entering our room we discovered a special and personalized experience. There was a "Happy Birthday" Brownie in the refrigerator and plushy stingray for the little ones. There was also a dog bed and dog bowls already in the room for our dog. There was also a box of Beach Brittle and souvenir Ka La'i water bottles. Amenities 5 stars: Our room had spectacular floor to ceiling window views of the ocean and the Waikiki coastline. The balcony had glass railings that made it safe for our little dog to go out on. Full kitchen with Wolf appliances and an enormous refrigerator. There was also a Nespresso machine that my wife used daily. The luxurious amenities also included a deep soaking tub with a window that could be opened toward the master bedroom. There was a separate shower that had the best water pressure. All in an Italian marble bathroom. The toilet seats were heated and had a bidet. There was also a washer and dryer in the room which made it convenient. There are many more that there is not enough room to list them all. Location 5 stars: The Ka La'i is right across the street from the beach and the walk is a beautiful and short one passing the US Army Museum. There are many great places to eat and shop within walking distance of the hotel. I would say all within a 5 to 10 minute walk of the hotel. If you are staying with your pet, there are grassy areas all around the hotel and a nice park to take a walk in across the street. Cleanliness 5 stars: This is a big one for me. From the Grand Entrance to our guest room, everything was spotless. I can't stand rooms that were not cleaned properly. The cleaning staff were very pleasant and helpful, asking if we needed anything, anytime we passed by them. And they all did so with a smile. Had a good stay here through Costco travel. The hotel suites are big enough for 4 adults or a large family. It's not located on the beach but it's on the side of Waikiki closer to ala moana and is only 1 block from the beach. There's free water and the suites have laundry machines in them so they are very convenient. Overall super luxury and modern for a place on waikiki. It doesn't seem to be super busy either compared to the other waikiki hotels. Super close to eggs n things and the Royal Hawaiin center. The restaurant was just ok. Where do I even begin? A perfect stay from check in to departure. Saori Suzuki warmly welcomed us at check in and informed us that as AMEX FHR members, we were being upgraded! Our room was not ready (we were early) and she said she would call me in one hour. She gave us some places to walk to for lunch and one hour later, we got the call to return to our room...or should I say palace? The most stunning room with a view of Honolulu Harbor and the beach. Two bathrooms both appointed with a gorgeous walk in shower and plenty of fluffy, white towels and hand towels, an office area with sleeper couch and desk, a full kitchen stocked with water, a welcome fruit plate and a bottle of champagne, a gorgeous dining table for 6, a living room with 70 (ish) inch TV, sleeper couch and two chairs, two lanais - one in the living room and one in the bedroom, table for four in one and chaise and chair in the other, full closet area with shelves, hangers, in-room safe and a stacked washer and dryer with soap and dryer sheets, two robes and two pairs of slippers. We asked only for a tea kettle and one was sent immediately and it was incredible (we want to buy one now)! The king sized bed was so comfortable and made with crisp white sheets. There is a Toto toilet in the bedroom bathroom and a large soaking tub. Honestly, a stunning room that was cleaned daily - please leave a tip for these amazing people! Speaking of people, Michael and Tiari at the concierge were so kind and helpful. They arranged for some fun activities for us and were just generally lovely every single day. The hotel is finalizing the last of their renovations and truly, there was literally only one minor inconvenience for us (which was absolutely not a big deal) - we had to take the elevator to floor 8 and walk down to 6 for the breakfast which was included in our stay. Another small issue was food temperature at the breakfast buffet. They are serving it in a lovely location that is open air adjacent to the pool. After our second breakfast, I received a text from the hotel asking if there was anything they could do to improve and I noted that the hot items on the buffet were not at a food safe temp. This was rectified the next day. We thoroughly enjoyed the several afternoons we spent at the pool. There were always places for us to find two chaise lounges together and the staff was so attentive. They are so nice to circulate around often with small smoothies and ice cream cups! Yes, there are kids in the pool, yes kids splash. That's what pools are for! We enjoyed our time there - especially the view! Also - don't miss the poke nachos at the pool - epic! Overall, every single person were had contact with at this hotel was professional, friendly and eager to help. The proof is that I can't WAIT to book Ka Lai again! read more

Probably one of the best hotels I ever stayed at. The two bedroom suite that we had gotten with the ocean view was probably the best decision I've ever made. Comes with a Nespresso machine, a full kitchen and dishes, utensils coffee, pots, and pans. We were provided with free water, sparkling water, and free water bottles. I highly recommend this place to stay during your next visit in Honolulu. It is about a five minute walk down to the beach and by the steak shop. We previously stayed here when it was the Trump hotel and the quality was just as high as we remembered. The staff are apparently the same as the previous which explains this! I feel like the male front desk staff who checked us in was the same person who checked us in last time (he looked familiar at least) and he made the check in experience really great! We stayed through the Amex platinum hotel collection program and we highly recommend this as the additional amenities through this program were amazing. We were also celebrating some special events so we also very much appreciated the room upgrades they offered us through the Amex platinum hotel collection and Hilton diamond member program. The on site restaurant also has wonderfu mai tai's which they say won an award for "best mai tai in the world" -- it was delicious! The complimentary breakfast was also outstanding! You do pay gratuity which is automatically charged but it was worthwhile because of the broad food options! The complimentary beach bags and towel service on the first floor was lovely. The guy there was so nice -- even asked us if we wanted floaters and we were like yes!! The room welcome gifts were also very thoughtful and the free cookies were especially delicious! This hotel has to be one of the best I've ever stayed at on any trip. My experience was phenomenal. The amount of detail and personal touches to make the experience enjoyable was incredible. The room was always kept clean within the day, and even double checked at times. Rooms have kitchens, dishes, full size fridge and freezer, and a separate wine refrigerator. We ordered Instacart delivery from Don Quiote market and had breakfast on the balcony overlooking Waikiki Beach every morning. Friday night fireworks, great view from lobby on 6th floor as well as lounge. Wow, every Friday, 7:45pm. Location is best in Waikiki. Concierege has beach bags with towels, etc. Pool on 6th floor with jacuzzi, overlooking the beach area. No need for a car, everything is within walking distance. Great restaurants at any level of dining all within a few blocks or so. Easy to get around couldn't have a better beach vacation than this! read more

I had the best trip to Waikiki due to this amazing hotel. The service and hospitality were top notch. Everyone - starting from the valet drivers and greeters at the front of the hotel to the housekeeping staff were all so kind and helpful. The check in staff generously upgraded my room to a full ocean view. The room had the most gorgeous view, was fully equipped with a kitchenette (that even had small appliances like a toaster and rice cooker!), and was very spacious. The hotel property itself was very well kept, and luxurious. Very convenient location that was walking distance to everything. The valet service was one of the best I ever experienced - extremely efficient staff who were all so kind. The restaurant was also very convenient. I didn't eat full meals there, but did go a few times for happy hour. They had gorgeous views of the sunset and delicious mai tais! Such an amazing stay! All I can say is wow!! I am all about great service and high expectations from hotels when I'm on vacation. I stayed here with my family. Hubby and I brought our one year old. With Hawaii being her first vacation I was a bit worried on how I was going to keep her entertained at a hotel because at home she is used to being in her play pen playing with toys. This hotel came with a tent (extra charge which I didn't mind) it had a camping book and little toys she could play with. It looked like she was camping inside our hotel room. It was cute. My daughter loved it and it definitely kept her distracted and busy... They had a high chair for her as well. My baby was eating breakfast every morning with a nice ocean view. They also provided a crib for her. They asked me if we were celebrating anything. I told them it was my birthday week. They brought out a nice dessert to my room. So thoughtful of them. It made me smile. They have a nice kitchenette. Perfect for washing my baby's bottles. The bath tub and shower are separated from each other which I loved. They gave us $100 credit towards our stay everyday .. We used it for room service for our baby. Food was delicious. My baby loved their mochi pancakes and omelette. They only have valet parking which was awesome. Hubby and I didn't have to worry about parking or anything. Housekeepers cleaned our room everyday. We loved going to a nice, fresh, clean room. We also used their dry cleaning service. They brought it to my room after a couple hours. It was great. I didn't have to wait long. They provide beach towels for you to go to the beach and you can bring as many as you want. They also have beach mats. Service was just amazing here.. Everyone did their part. The staff are all nice and friendly. Definitely made my family and I feel welcome and fell at home. The next time we visit Hawai'i we will definitely be back here to stay. read more

It was such a great staycation for my son's birthday! He enjoyed the spacious room, the view where he could look at the ocean and watch the airplanes and boats, the pool and especially the bath tub lol When we checked in, there was a stingray stuffed animal on the bed for him. Also a plate that said happy birthday on it and brownies in the fridge. Very thoughtful of them. Family came over and we cooked dinner in the awesome kitchen. All the cooking tools were there. Services were great in every department. We were very happy! Main thing is my son enjoyed himself. Will be staying here again! read more

This was our first staycation at the Ka La'i Resort in Waikiki. We were absolutely impressed from the moment we checked in till our departure. What a great way to celebrate our anniversary. We were greeted with treats and were upgraded to a beautiful oceanview room. The service team were excellent; very friendly and assured that we had the best stay ever. From Doug (check-in) to Ryan (pool side attendant) and the restuarant staff; all were there to make sure you had a 5-star experience. We had experienced this in Japan and were pleasantly surprised to have this type of service in Hawaii. We look forward to coming back to this hotel. read more

Awesome rooms and service. Only reason I subtracted a star was because its a 15-20 min walk to the main part of Waikiki beach. All beaches near the hotel are small and less nice or private. The hotel also doesnt offer any ride accommodations to the beach ? It makes it tough for individuals with a child to get to the beach. read more

We accidentally confused this hotel with ours next door. We were met by valet who quickly unpacked our car onto a cart. We were then met by guest services who gave us chilled bottles of water and escorted us to the lobby on an upper floor. While we were trying to check in and figuring out we were at the wrong place we were given glasses of chilled cucumber water and gourmet fruit jellies. Even after we figured out we weren't staying there the staff were so kind to us. They helped us pack our bags back up and showed us the way to our place. Truly a first class experience, I wish we had stayed here instead! read more

This review is for folks who are considering residing here long term - don't. I stayed here three times as a hotel guest and had a great experience, so I decided to try a longer term stay while considering buying a property. As a resident, they nickle and dime everything. If you order groceries or food delivery, they charge $5 per bag to bring it to your room and will not allow any delivery service driver to deliver to your room. The valet staff will all just stand around and smile while they watch you stuggle with your groceries. There's one older gentleman who tries to be helpful and offers a reusable bag, but that's all. They should be embarrassed to say they're 5 star service. Ritz-Carlton across the street blows this property away in terms of attention to detail and service - they'll bring all deliveries and mail to your room at no charge. The worst living mistake I ever made was signing a 1 year lease here. I'm glad I learned this lesson before buying. Considering renting or buying a condotel for a residence , Ritz-Carlton is so worth the little extra. read more

This hotel is amazing. Stayed here for a weekend getaway. Service was excellent, everyone was always so willingly helpful and friendly. They provided a crib upon request and it was already in the room when we arrived. Room service was prompt, food was great. Loved the full kitchenette, & $50 comp of food/drinks per day! Also had the latest check out time out of any other hotel in Waikiki. Supposed to check out at 11am, they gave us until 8pm. Kama'aina rates were unreal as well. Will definitely stay here again. read more
