Love this resort. Best in Waikiki by far. Superb on every level. Already booked for next summer.

I love this place but it was too busy and crowded this weekend with that tech conference. My husband and I got stuck with one of the older rooms for people with disabilities 431. The shower area overflooded because the shower head was facing away from the drain. Ugh. I dislike that setup so much. Not the best room we stayed at but we still enjoyed our time. Staff were friendly from front desk, housekeeping, buffet staff, to the bellboys. House with a key staff will be discussed on their page. How disappointing their dinner service was. It's always clean here and I love their bidets. It's worth every penny to stay especially how close we are to beach but I'd love to have a better room next time. My husband loved staying here because of the location. That's all folks. See you all next year. Give me a better roooooommmm

A sanctuary of serenity in the hubbub of Waikiki, Halekulani provided Kelly and me with a restorative escapade on our inaugural Hawaii trip. We cannot wait to return. Flawless service and a gorgeous open air lobby with multiple sites for lounging await you upon checkin. The rooms are large and the bedding comfortable. Most rooms have at least a partial ocean view, but layout, geography, and neighbors mean not all views are equal. I assure you that it is worth paying the premium to get a room with a view of Diamond Head - we did not regret it. Early November, the vibe was very chill and seductively silent, while still sunny and warm (80s in the day). The air is fragrant with flowers and you walk around in a daze. There are luaus every night and tiki drinks abound. For dining, Orchids and La Mer are both flawless fine dining experiences. Lewer's is a seductive cocktail lounge with live jazz. Daily brunch is expansive with superb omelets and freshly squeezed juice. The pool is salt water, and if you go early enough, you can float off on your back in the largest sensory dep tank in the archipelago. I spent multiple mornings floating off into space to start my day, doing my best nihilist interpretation. The pool is also equipped for a chair lift, to ensure that those with disabilities can enjoy the restorative waters. Not much of a beach, but that's par for the course in Waikiki. Walk a bit to the West and you can access a larger beach and boardwalk via a public walkway to the ocean next to the beautiful Hawaii Army Museum.

Luxury and actually feeling taken care of. The turn down service is magical. Pool is delightful and the beach access is awesome. Restaurants are beyond. Live music and dancing nightly. I love it here. Worth the splurge price tag.

I have to imagine this is one of the nicest if not the nicest hotel in Waikiki. Ocean front, near shopping, but also quiet which is hard to get in the area. The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful. The few things I personally enjoyed was the thoughtfulness of the room amenities and layout with little gifts each day. They shut down the pool at night which keeps the kid noise from going until 10 like most places. The security guards keeping people from randomly entering the grounds. They have a surfboard/SUP rental onsite and the grounds are immaculately kept. Lastly, they have 3 amazing restaurants onsite too. Just make sure to bring pants for the fancy French restaurant (I only brought shorts and missed out trying that one). Only downside is it's really expensive, but our rates might have been higher than normal due to a Japanese holiday.

Halekulani Hotel is a relaxing beach front establishment. Conveniently located in the beginning of Waikiki, there are so many shops, marts, restaurants, and entertainment to choice from while everything being in walking distance. Whether you choose to sunbathe, shop, dine, or relax, Halekulani would be a great stay to fulfill your needs. Their fitness center is small, but there are machines for cardio and weight training. Thank you, Lynn, for your help in reservating my stay!

Just adding more photos to yesterday's review. Forgot to mention that some of the valets have been there forever! And all are gracious to serve, share in the gratuities, and offer you chilled cartons of Aloha Water for your drive;)

Beautiful hotel offering gracious bilingual (English/Japanese) service, convenient location and spacious modern rooms. Enjoyed the iconic Diamond Head views from our room, excellent breakfast buffet and spacious immaculate salt water pool with plenty of loungers for everyone. The amazing ikebana flower arrangements placed around the grounds were a beautiful sight to behold every day. Highly recommend the sunset hula show and/or dinner at House Without a Key, along with their fresh fish dishes and light as air coconut cake. Note that Halekulani has great views but no real beach access due to shore erosion (save a sliver of sand accessed through a locked gate with key card access), so beach lovers may not prefer this hotel. Although I did see a few weddings and corporate events while I was there, Halekulani's overall mood is quiet and refined. No loud music, pool games or raucous groups. In short, a tranquil haven from the bustling streets of Waikiki.

Awesome hotel, services, rooms and restaurants! First rate hospitality and attention to details from welcoming lobby with fresh flowers, welcoming valet to front desk. Breathtaking views and beachfront walks on property. Great restaurants too (House without a key was excellent). Will be back soon!

Everything! First class hotel that caters to your every need. Very expensive but worth it. I spent 8 days there & loved every minute of it!

The Halekulani Hotel is a beautiful luxurious hotel on the beach - they have a Five Diamond restaurant, other various dining options and eateries, and shopping experiences. The staff here are friendly friendly and attentive, and they really keep the grounds in great condition. Great scenic view in the heart of Waikiki! +friendly service +great dining options +beautiful scenic view

A lovely experience start to finish. Only got to spend two nights here, but I did experience nearly all parts of the resort, and none of them disappointed. On check-in, my Leading Hotels of the World membership got me complimentary breakfast at either the House Without a Key (HWAK) buffet or the Orchids set menu. The perk included tax and gratuity, and the spread at the buffet was really impressive. Also got coupons for two complimentary cocktails at HWAK (also including tax and gratuity). The check-in attendant was superb and gave me a nice overview of how things worked, then led me to the room and showed me the features. The room itself is very comfortable. It's a great size and maybe not as flashy as some others (calming and neutral was the goal), but it looks sleek and sophisticated, and I enjoyed the love seat for lounging. The mattress was firmer than the average, but I slept very well on it. Plenty of closet and drawer space, and the bathroom was large as well. You can access the closet from the entryway or the bathroom. The toilet is high-tech and opens automatically on a motion sensor. It has all kinds of bidet functions and flush settings. It reminded me of the one in The Simpsons when they go to Japan; it did everything but say, "I am pleased to accept your waste." My only minor complaint about the bath facilities was that the water in the shower didn't get quite as hot as one might like. The balcony felt like a good size to me, and even though the furniture wasn't quite as high-end as you might expect, I'm guessing that was a result of the realities of outdoor wear and tear on the ocean. The legs of the tables and chairs had little socks on them, and I realized that was to keep them from scraping on the concrete and making a lot of noise, so that was a nice touch. I had a room categorized as partial ocean view, but it seemed like more than partial to me. It wasn't a direct ocean view, but it was quite sufficient. The pool with its iconic orchid mosaic is a stunner; the lawn with loungers both in sun and shade is expansive and the pool service is terrific. It received plenty of use, but it never felt overcrowded. The hula and music at HWAK in the evenings provide an unbeatable way to savor the sunset. The menu at Orchids restaurant offers a wide array of selections in a less formal (but still very upscale) setting. Dinner at La Mer is a lifetime memory, where you can experience the highest level of service and cuisine and still have control. There are various multi-course tasting menus, but everything is also available by the cart. The expert staff will guide you flawlessly in your selections. Don't miss a nightcap at the L'Aperitif bar on the way out, where the professional bartender will help you wind down after the beautiful meal experience. A final stop at the Lewers Lounge for a final cocktail (or two, who's counting?) and some jazz piano or combo music will end your night elegantly and romantically. Service throughout is impeccable; friendly and very efficient with just a touch of deference, but never losing the aloha vibe. The public areas are exquisite, with giant, stunning flower arrangements all around and manicured lawns sitting off terraces with comfortable but well-appointed decor. Of course, the action of central Waikiki is literally just across the street, but once I'd stepped into the gracious enclave of the Halekulani, there was nothing appealing enough to make me want to leave.

This review is based solely on the exterior of the property which we saw when we went to dine at the poolside restaurant. It is beautiful with impeccable gardens, and the attention to detail is incredible. Even the pool area looked nice with lots of seating. It looked to be an older crowd, which makes it even better. The only downside is that they do not have beach access and it doesn't really look like there is a beach in front of the hotel.

Small beach area connects to the hotel next to the pool

Hotel offers different types of pillows in the room and spare blanket in armoire. Also in the armoire is hangers, an ironing board and steaming iron, which came in handy for those wrinkled linen shirts mashed in my suitcase. The Bathroom. - one sink with a little counter top space but sufficient. The toilet was also bidet in the master bath. The shower pressure on 21st is ok but low, but it did the job. The Ac in room was awesome! It gets super cold, if you need it, quickly. It was nice for those hot humid days of walking in Waikiki. It had an In-room mini fridge and bar sink with 4 real drinking glasses, which I like. Hated there was no freezer in the mini fridge But the bell hop station offers to freeze ice packs, or whatever you need, for you. We had 3 sliding doors with west views and moderate views of Waikiki beach. The Second bedroom has own bath with also a single sink, toilet and shower- No bidet. The room/bedding/bathrooms were clean with no mold in the showers. The furniture showed a little wear but nothing excessive. The Elevators were fast! The pool, mangers reception and breakfast are all on the 4th Floor (terrace level). Breakfast was typical of Embassy Suites, I like the made to order omelette which makes it much better. Lots of fresh fruit and even some miso soup and other Japanese/Hawaiian offerings. The Staff was awesome and super friendly. I Used valet every day. Great service, fast and practical IMO but hard to swallow the daily fee. The hotel was attacked to the Waikiki beach walk. Island vintage coffee was a regular stop for coffee and sometimes breakfast. Order coffee or food to go online after 8am to save a ton of time standing in line. Hotel was Very close to all ththe shops. Awesome location. Much better location than Hilton Hawaiian village location!!! Our fav restaurant close by the hotel was Kana Pilla and Monkey Pod, which were across the street. Make sure to make Open Table reservations for both way ahead of time. I did mine 2 months out. Housekeeping willing to clean and supply new towels daily however linens are not cleaned but every 5 day, unless you request it, which they are happy to do! Views from 21st floor were awesome and all 21st floor rooms had extensive balconies. 3 sliding doors. Keep in mind Ac doesn't work, yes the fan blows, when the doors are open!! It's too humid at night to sleep with them open so we had them open for select times, mostly am. There's a Washer/dryer laundry room on site, 3rd floor only. It was Very convenient especially packing 4 days of clothes for a 10 day trip so our suitcases weren't stuffed . Use laundry room on sundays/mon or late evenings when people are too busy arriving and leaving. $5.25 to each wash load and I think $4.75 to dry. Washers only wash with cold which I like. Perm press on dryer seemed to dry all our shirts and socks well. We hung our nice Aloha shirts on the hangers in the room and they dried within a day. Washer and dryers take credit cards. Yes they're is a soap machine that also takes credit cards. I didn't use and just bought soap from ABC. ABC stores are EVERYWHERE so don't lug around suntan lotion or waters in your suitcase. Just buY at ABC which is only 20 steps away. FYI ABC doesn't no GIVE out bags for items unless you spend over a certain amount. ANC bags cost like .50 cents. ABC has Awesome poke and alcohol (spirit and beer) choices. Yes single purchase tall beers too. Don't forget the free brief fireworks show in front of the Hilton Hawaii Village on Friday nights only. We saw them set off at 7:45p by the lagoon. It's amazing how many people attend so be prepared for the crowds to and from. Big tip: make open table reservations for all your restaurants months ahead! All places are super busy until about 8:45 pm on most nights. Hope I helped.

The Banyan Wing is the original Victorian-era building which is listed on National Historic Registry and houses the main lobby and restaurant. Our Tower room had a great covered patio with incredible views of Waikiki and Diamond Head. We spent a lot of time on the patio watching the surfers, catamarans, and enjoying the island breeze. Our balcony was spectacular :o Our room was updated and very comfortable. I understand the owners completed a full renovation of all rooms in 2026. The beach bar is one of the best in the world. Cold cocktails, beer and wine. Good service. Great views! The drawbacks.... The pool is small and very crowded, especially for 791 rooms. With that said everyone in the pool was smiling and having fun. The beach is also pretty small for such a massive hotel. At high tide the hotel only has about 30 feet of beachfront and it is a public beach so it is crowded Rio style. For us this was not a drawback as we love Waikiki, the birthplace of Hawaiian surfing, and spend most of our time in the surf. Hawaii and Waikiki is one of the few places that completely lives us to the hype year after year and generation after generation. We can't wait to return. Aloha & Mahalo

One of the important standards I look for in a hotel stay, is a focus on supporting locals. For me, if there's a Starbucks in the lobby, then I'm already disappointed. This hotel has one of my favorite local chain cafes, Honolulu Coffee Company. The only local café that has consistently made perfect crema foe decades. Starbucks baristas are not trained for this. The hotel also has restaurants with lots of local flavor. The sushi buffet is amazing but difficult to get a reservation on the weekends. 100 Sails also has a buffet though ordering ala cart seemed like the best choice for us. We booked the Club Premier package, and we felt it was worth it because breakfast at 100 Sails Restaurant on the 3rd floor was excellent every morning. One thing to keep in mind is that parking is not included with your stay and must be paid for separately, which is something to factor into the overall cost. One big concern was the snacks on the 5th floor. We came across moldy bread, which was definitely concerning. I would think the staff would check the food before putting it out, especially considering this is not a cheap hotel. I loved that we could grab coffee every morning from Honolulu Coffee without having to leave the hotel. The lines can get long, but the service is fairly quick. The staff, overall, were not very welcoming and often seemed serious. However, on Monday, June 29, there was an older woman who was incredibly friendly and welcoming. She really stood out and made us feel appreciated. One other issue was that the body wash in our room was never refilled, so we ended up not having any during our stay. We also requested a later check out and our key cards aren't working. The front desk never mentioned anything about need to change keys cards if we had a later check out and now we're outside our rooms having to go back downstairs and change our key cards. And they were making it complicated because they wanted my drivers license even though it's in the room. Overall, we enjoyed our stay, and the beautiful views, great amenities, and delicious breakfast made it a memorable family vacation.

All the staff was friendly and responsive to any questions. I will definitely be staying here again!

I stayed at this outrigger property 2 nights from March 6, 2026-March 8, 2026…read more When I checked in I was informed since my stay was for 2 nights if I needed to have my room cleaned to let housekeeping know. Once my room became available I dropped off my luggage and then went directly to the beach. When I returned I did notice some areas of concern where the room was not very well cleaned. Instead of calling housekeeping I went directly downstairs to the front desk. Front desk personnel were busy as there were only 2 people assisting the long line of quests. I decided I'll just deal with the room uncleanliness later. Please be advised that I did take pictures. Once I checked out on Sunday, March 8th, I advised the front desk personnel my concerns. The manager Ira listened to my concerns as I showed her my pictures. She immediately apologized and ask that I email the pictures to their corporate office. Which I did once I arrived back to the mainland. In the room there's a finger or toenail clipping on the carpet between the console and couch. Also you can also see that portion of the carpet has not been vacuumed. The clothed bench in front of bed was extremely stained and filthy. So filthy that I covered the bench with a bath towel if I needed to sit down. Also the refrigerator was very dirty. I chose not to put any food items in the fridge because of this. Also the bottom of the toilet is stained with either fecal matter, urine or maybe it's rust. If so, clean it then use caulking. These are the concerns I have with room 403. Hopefully I'll be hearing from upper management in regards to my unpleasant stay in room 403. The best part of staying at this hotel was the show Auana which is located at this hotel. Needless to say I will not stay at this hotel again.

I slept like a baby in the king sized bed! I also liked how there was a small kitchen with cookware and a microwave. We were celebrating a minimoon and were gifted a bottle of champagne, a bar of chocolate, and a lovely fruit platter. Service was impeccable, from check-in to dining to pool service. Breakfast was included in our stay and the food was quite impressive. Not only do you get the breakfast buffet, but you get to order as many small plates as you'd like (mind you, they're already quite filling), and one large plate. You can also take your leftovers to go. Honestly, I would eat breakfast and be set until dinner most days. At the pool, they also brought around ice cream or smoothies to keep guests refreshed. They did so pretty frequently. The pool was also never super busy, which was nice as we just came from another hotel where the pool was constantly packed. You do get a small view, but it's mostly blocked by other buildings. There's a decent gym that also was never super busy. It's on the same floor as the spa. We contemplated treatments, but ultimately never went.

Great location, very accessible to stores and the beach, and also secluded in a sense you're not in the middle of all the hustle and bustle. We came as a family of three. Not only did they gave us a warm welcome, but they provided plenty of accommodations for our baby. A baby robe which was the cutest, but also a diaper genie baby bath tub and toiletries. We were so impressed! The room views were amazing and our room was upgraded which was a super plus! Breakfast was amazing! Our favorites were their mochi pancakes. They did have construction during our stay, but nothing to really get in our way. The service and accommodation were amazing! Thank you for our great stay Ka La'i! See you hopefully soon!

The service from the front desk to the cleanliness of the rooms was just amazing! I also enjoyed how there were plenty of elevators to go to the hotel rooms and it was in one section. Super easy to find everything and overall I enjoyed my stay. The room itself was clean and modern, and the view was spectacular. I went to the pools which even have an adult-only pool area as well. I tried paddleboarding yoga one morning. Overall if you wanted to relax and chill in the hotel you could do it and it is walkable to all the shopping and food places in Waikiki. Would totally reccomend people to come to this hotel. A very centralized location and awesome spot.

There is no room in the adult pool area, people put towels on chairs and walk away and there's no chairs left for anyone else to use. We flew in on Monday and checked into a room with dirty sheets. Not exactly the welcome you expect. That evening, we saw a notice saying the water would be shut off the next day from 9:00-11:00 a.m. We spent the morning at the beach and the small pool. One odd thing to note: to get to the pool, you have to walk through Duke's outdoor dining patio in your wet swimsuit while people are eating. It's a very strange layout. The bigger problem was that the water was still off after 1:00 p.m. There were no working toilets, sinks, or showers, and even the hallway ice machine wasn't working because there was no water. We complained to the front desk and were simply told there was nothing they could do. The next morning, we were awakened at 6:00 a.m. by loud hammering overhead, followed by power tools starting around 8:30 a.m. When we stepped onto our balcony, construction debris was actually falling from the floor above. In the hallway, water was leaking through a ceiling light fixture. Security acknowledged the leak and said someone was coming to address it. The front desk acted as though this was the first they had heard of the construction. They insisted it was happening on the 10th floor, nowhere near our room on the 6th floor. I walked upstairs myself and immediately found a crew of construction workers gathered outside the elevator on the 7th floor--yelling to one another, hammering, with construction materials and debris everywhere. Clearly, the hotel knew there was active construction directly above occupied guest rooms. The next day the noise started at 5:30am. We called the desk and they said security was putting a stop to it. When I went downstairs security had no idea. Rowena at the front desk gave me the manager's business card, but every call went straight to voicemail. I was told the manager would arrive at 8:30 a.m. I never received a return call. This hotel is poorly managed. If construction is taking place directly above guest rooms, those rooms should not be rented. Between the dirty sheets, extended water outage, nonstop construction noise, falling debris, and lack of management response, this was one of the most disappointing hotel stays I've experienced. Also my courregges vintage sunglasses went missing from our room and I'd really like them back and credit for this memorable disappointment. Do yourself a favor and stay somewhere else.
