We were not asked if we wanted a drink, not sure they have any, but none were offered. Every dinner comes with a soup and and salad so o think an appetizer would be too much food before the dinners arrive. The salad was very flavorful. Tangy and lots of vegetables. Large enough to split between two. The soup was a chicken type thicker chowder. Again, very flavorful but not a huge portion. I ordered chicken kabob with grilled vegetable. My companion ordered a beef kabob with vegetable. We shared with other. They were so good. Huge portions. I could not finish mine. I think I liked the beef kabob better but they were both very good. I am a BIG fan of Shish Kabob Restaurant. We have never ate in the restaurant, but we always order a family platter for takeout when we have friends/family visiting us! We always get the 6 person family platter, and it is always a hit. In regard to service, it's so easy to call and place an order and our food is always ready on time. The workers have always been so nice, too. The food is always plated so beautifully for takeout too, it even looks amazing! The meat is always so fresh, flavorful, and just absolutely delicious. I decided to give this place a go. With COVID-19 still a novel issue in PA, there was no lockdown order in effect. As such, the restaurant was still open, albeit, for takeout only. The Family Platter was comprised of super delicious kabab, grilled meats, and grilled vegetables. I noticed that it did not come with rice, and I think a little rice would be a nice inclusion. This is definitely not a deal breaker though, as the meats were cooked to perfection; it's just my opinion. I must tell you, dear reader, that the Lamb Biryani was so good, I think it needs its own paragraph in this review! It is served with ample pieces of lamb. The lamb pieces were moist, tender, and not overcooked (very important as overcooked meat tends to be dry). They were also very flavorful, and had a well-marinated taste that really pushed them into the 'AMAZING' realm. The lamb REALLY complements the biryani! A point to note is that the biryani is not the conventional Indian, Pakistani, or Bangladeshi biryani. That being said, it is definitely a 10/10 in my opinion. This place has decent food and that's their saving grace. Initially went there out of a recommendation from my girlfriend and immediately noticed dirty carpets, sticky chairs, and a smoke-filled dining room. The menu was unclear and the waiter didn't speak proper English so we ordered a way larger selection and paid an extra $50. The Second time, went there only because we liked one of the grilled chickens. When I got there they promised me they would make the type of chicken I asked for. After I paid I went to the roostroom and upon return, they had a different kind of food and said this is the type of chicken we have for you. I argued with the water, the cook, and even the owner. The place was out of food. The place looks like a dungeon. The floor needs to be swept clean. Please use olive oil on the hummus or none at all. Vegetable oil is NOT what you put on the hummus. Decent place. Prices are reasonable and a good option in Erie PA. Hummus was WAYYY TOO salty. Over the top and overwhelmed the overall flavor of the hummus. My husband and I have been on a healthy Whole Foods kick so we thought this would be a nice place to try - we were spot on - the owner was so friendly, explained the menu extensively because I had a few questions - we got the family platter for 3 and a side of Baba Ganoush - this consisted of a half grilled chicken, beef and chicken Shish kabobs and the Shish Tawook which was big hunks of juicy, grilled chicken breast, vegetable kabobs and a large portion of hummus and pita - oh yeah fries too - everything was perfectly seasoned, flavorful, juicy and delicious - please order food from here - the side of lentil soup was awesome too, I'll get this again - I promise you we'll be back and without hesitation will recommend to anyone to support this local business - thank you !!! read more

I live their food... huge portions enough o feed 2 people. We usually do takeout but on the way home from Hamot after a procedure we stopped and ate in for the 1st time. They have a super nice authentic area you can sit on the floor on pillows and a nice rug..super nice. We ordered 1 order is minced meat chicken shihkabob. Omg the amount of food they brought out was unbelievable. A huge salad with the best pickles I have ever had in my life, 2 cups of soup and then enough rice to feed a small army. I had tipped them when we paid to place my order and I left more money under the plates when we left... it was sooo good. They started us with a lentil soup and a salad of lettuce and tomatoes with a sort of lemony pepper dressing. Soup was good, although it could have been warmer. Salad was not to our taste. hummus with paprika and chili powder was above average. Platter was enough food for four, at least. Arais was a new dish to us, nicely spiced and yummy. Half of a grilled chicken, flavorful and moist. Ground lamb and chicken were both new to our palates, we enjoyed them. Skewers of vegatables and frech fries were average but appropriate sides. On the down side, it was cool in the dining area and the hostess seemed almost surprised to have customers. A step up for this restaurant would be actual Naan from a tandoori everything has such authentic flavor this would just take it over the top. I ordered two of the lamb biryani plates (I was unfamiliar with this dish) and baba ganoush. I was expecting ground lamb but each meal came with a lamb shank and a quarter sheet pan of rice. EACH! I don't know why, but I always end up here when I don't feel like cooking at home. Maybe it's the allure of the Biryani. Which till date I haven't had to taste cause they always run out of it early. Tip: Order Biryani before 8 pm. Be very diligent while giving your order and make sure they understand because on 2 out of 3 occasions they messed up my order. So I always end up ordering the kebab Platter which is so not up to the mark. They charged me $40 and I generally wouldn't complain if the food was good, but sadly it was terrible. This place is soooo worth the short drive off Interstate 90! Late on a Sunday night, after having driven 2,500 miles from San Francisco, we definitely didn't want to "dine" at Arby's or some other nameless chain at the "Rest Stops." We found our way to this tiny place in the middle of the post-industrial landscape of downtown Erie, PA. The chicken, falafel, pita, fattoush salad, rice, hummus, and baba ghanoush was absolutely delicious, made fresh while we waited (call ahead if you want it more quickly) and super generous servings.
