This place has gone down drastically. It used to be so clean, food was delicious and the service was excellent. Now sadly the place is not clean at all, bathrooms were a mess. Service was so bad, we kept asking for items that we ordered and didn't get. They weren't even busy so not sure what's happened. When the bill came they had charged us extra $10 for paying with a card and 18% service charge and we were only 5 people. BTW, we wouldn't mind paying that charge if we got good service though. Unfortunately, this was the last chance I was willing to give this restaurant after several previous disappointing experiences, mainly due to poor customer service. At 7:10 PM, I called and ordered the $55 shawarma family deal. I specifically asked if the entire order could be beef shawarma, and the employee confirmed that it could. I was also told it would be ready in 30 minutes. I arrived at 7:40 PM and was told they needed another 10 minutes because they had run out of bread. While inconvenient, I understood that these things can happen. About 15 minutes later, I was told my order was ready, only to find out they had prepared half chicken and half beef instead of the all-beef order that had been confirmed over the phone. When I pointed out the mistake, I was asked, "Who did you speak with on the phone?" As a customer, I don't think it's my responsibility to know the employee's name. Internal communication should be handled by the restaurant. The employee then offered to give me an extra beef shawarma, but I explained that I had guests who do not eat chicken. I was then told it would take at least another 20 minutes to remake the order correctly. In the end, I received my food around 8:20 PM--more than an hour after placing an order that was supposed to take 30 minutes. To make matters worse, when I got home, the fries were cold and greasy, the shawarma was average at best, and the saj spicy bread that was supposed to be included with the special was missing. Honestly, this isn't the first time I've had issues here. The customer service has consistently been poor, the staff often seem unfriendly, and the prices are already high for the portion sizes and quality. If the food and service were exceptional, that might be easier to justify--but unfortunately, that hasn't been my experience. I genuinely hope the owner focuses as much on customer service, staff training, and quality control as they do on social media marketing. read more

Half of the meat shawarma plate contained what looked like leftover tiny bits of meat not strips of shawarma. The lambshop was just ok. The hummus and salad didn't taste fresh at all. Tiny mosquitos didn't leave our table the moment food was served which was the worst part. Service was also very slow. They put extra charge for paying with a credit card.. Very disappointed! When this place opened, the hype, the service all was great..and then just like many...it goes downhill. Recently, my friend and I went when the store says they opened- had to hangout for an extra hour until the hostess arrived. She totally ignored us sitting outside and went in to answer all the pick up orders coming in. I went in to the counter, I shared that we've been there for an hour and maybe it's better to edit the hours on yelp to reflect the actual time- she- VERY RUDELY- said oh no it was me who was late ...and continued to ask for what we want. All what we wanted (which were breakfast and bakery items before noon), were not available...what a waste of a wait..what a waste of a trip...Hire better people...no matter how much the food is good (when available)...if the host/service manners suck, you will lose more customers. read more

Kababji is always a pleasure to go to. The food is always hot and fresh. The ingredients are top notch. The service is always good and the waiters are always helpful and nice. That being said it's definitely not cheap but for me this is the best food on Brookhurst. Perfect place for a birthday dinner or to celebrate small events and accomplishments. I made a reservation at 1pm, no one there to check u in, everyone is busy doing everything without any organization or lowest level of etiquette, they lack respect for their customers, this place doesn't represent the middle eastern restaurants by any means where everywhere in the middle customers are well respected and valued. I approached one guy who was serving food / charcoal to inform him no one checked us in (although I have a reservation at 1pm) he said ok someone will be with u and waited 15 minutes after. Restaurant was obviously over crowded and I knew staff didn't save a table for any of their reservations including my party (many people were waiting by the door). Zero customer service and I wonder if the restaurant owner/ manager is aware of what his staff is doing. They need a-lot learn about customer service and respect since, this is not USA level of customer service AT ALL, it was my worst experience in southern California without a doubt not mentioning there was no parking available!!! This review is for the owner and is shared with good intentions. Kababji has been my favorite Lebanese restaurant for years, dating back to when it was Allepo's Kitchen. The food, service, and overall vibe have always been incredible, which is why this experience was so disappointing. We came in last night with family to celebrate my daughter's birthday, and unfortunately, everything felt a bit off. We ordered rib-eye, lamb liver, lamb kafta, and of course shish tawook (my daughter's favorite). Food: Tawook: really good. Rib-eye: Dry, overcooked, and lacking seasoning. This was especially disappointing since it's normally one of my favorite dishes. Liver: Also very dry and under-seasoned. Service: We had to repeatedly get our waiter's attention for basic things like napkins and drinks. The level of attentiveness and hospitality we're used to just wasn't there. Vibe: The atmosphere didn't feel as warm and welcoming as usual. We were seated near the kitchen, and there seemed to be some tension or lack of communication among staff. Additionally, an employee's children were running around the restaurant near our table--at one point even riding a bike--which made it difficult to relax and enjoy the evening. I was honestly a bit embarrassed, as I've recommended this restaurant to my family many times and was hoping for a special birthday dinner. I would give this place a 4.5, however without the option I will give this location a four and a half. Things to note parking is very difficult to find around the shopping plaza. The further down from the resturant you park, the easier it is. The restuarnt is also located on the back side of the plaza. They do offer valet parking for its customers, however I am uncertain of the cost. Lastly this location is very vibrant, but does have hookah. So if you asthma or are not fans of smoke that could be a deal breaker. Otherwise the service here was amazing. The owner personally came and sat my party of 10 and attended to us and made recommendations. They even brought out their own version of an American pizza for the kids. I actually was a fan although it was just an black olive and cheese pizza. It was so fresh, and cooked in a stone oven. Everything there is made very traditional, freshly made after ordering, and delicious. The humus was amazing, the eggplant dish aka babaganoush was so flavorful and amazing. I also very much enjoyed all the meat. My favorite meat was the beef beefkafta and the chicken. The kafta had he most flavor, but the chicken was the most juicy. I will say I wish it were a bit more seasoned for my taste, however it is typical to have salt, pepper, or even cumin on the side to dip your meat in so you can enjoy its purity. The meat seemed halal as it was very high quality. I also enjoyed all the grilled vegetables on the side. We order the family pack and it was more than enough food for everyone to not only eat but pack our own little to go boxes with what we enjoyed most. We got seated in under 10 minutes, but the wait time to just order drinks (Perrier) was well over 15. Once they finally remembered about the table of two amongst many families partaking in dinner and enjoying the hookah pipes placed on the outside of tables, our server Jasmine took our food order. Within the next 45 minutes, I noticed a large family was seated next to us and surprisingly received our food before our table did. Quite honestly, we were very close to walking out and to head somewhere else when I saw from a distance our server with our food. We also waited a while for our check to arrive (the family previously mentioned managed to leave before we did simply due to the extra care they received). I will not take away the authenticity and good taste of what we ordered, or the nice decor and valet offered (with a very small parking lot but plenty public parking in the front), but the lack of attention will keep me away from here for a while. The chicken was the best for sure. that's what we will get next time. However, food took a very long time and when it came, the food was not fully cooked so we had to send it back for the kebabs which took another at least 30 to 40 minutes to be ready during all this time the chicken had not came still so when we left, we had so much food with us and we Didn't really eat at that point considering it took so much time to be ready and kids weee ready to leave. Cons: 1- we couldn't find the restaurant as there is another kababji on Google maps across the street. The restaurant sign which should guide you towards the end of an alley isn't as visible as it should be. 2- Our server was somewhat rude and when my friend asked for an extra set of utensils she said: " Ive already given you a set" which is something Ive never seen before 3- The appetizers didn't have any spoons in them and although we ordered a family deal we couldn't eat and had to wait (considering what happened as mentioned in #2) 4- The server forgot to bring our bread and we had few dished of Mezze and no bread to eat it with 5- The kebobs looked good but they were very overcooked. This was honestly one of the worst restaurant experiences I have ever had. I understand it was busy and I took that into consideration. But from the moment we sat down things felt off. We were given large plastic plates and dirty forks while the table next to us received nice plates, napkins, and full utensils. We had to ask for knives and still did not get them. Our food came out with no bread and no knives. We waited and waited. When bread finally came it was cold. The food itself was also cold. They gave us only two knives for the entire table and no serving spoons. We were using small forks to serve salad and rice to each other. The shareable meal is advertised as feeding five people, but what we received was nowhere near enough. The portions were very small, especially the sides. To make it worse, the table next to us ordered the exact same meal and was given dips and warm house made bread. We were given cold store bought bread instead. It honestly felt like we were treated differently and it was very uncomfortable. We were taking my grandmother out for the holidays and this experience really upset her. She was genuinely sad, which made the whole night even more disappointing. For the price, this was unacceptable. I would not recommend this restaurant at all. We were a party of 4 and were charged an 18% service charge, even though their own policy (posted on the menu) says it only applies to tables of 5 or more. When we questioned it, they didn't remove it. They also improperly charged a 3% debit card fee, which is prohibited by Visa/Mastercard rules and federal law for debit transactions , charged us $10.38 for valet instead of the advertised $7, and the final charge on my card was $225 even though the bill they presented was only $217. That's a $8 unexplained difference. The service itself was also disappointing, very slow, I had to ask 4 times for the same thing until I got it, All restaurants offer free water except for this one, they force you to buy a bottle of water for 15 times it's actual price. Between the surprise fees, policy violations, and the higher charge than shown, this felt like nickel-and-diming at best. I won't be returning and can't recommend it. read more

I've got mixed feelings about this place -- sometimes it's amazing, sometimes I leave wondering what just happened. Let's start with the guy parking the cars outside. Bro always looks mad, like someone stole his shawarma! A little smile wouldn't hurt -- we're just here for food, not a fight. Inside, everyone's super nice and friendly... maybe too friendly, because when it gets busy, nobody seems to know what's going on. I usually order to-go, and even though they give me a pickup time, I still end up waiting like I'm in line for concert tickets. Here's my two cents for the owner: get four solid people who can hold the fort -- folks who know their spot, don't wander off, and can actually communicate. Give them all earpieces so they can talk to a manager or whoever's in charge. And honestly, the guy outside parking cars should have one too. That way, he can let the inside crew know when a crowd's coming in and maybe even warn the kitchen to buckle up. Teamwork makes the shawarma work! One last thing -- start the valet at the front gate. That way, people know right away if there's parking inside or not, instead of driving in, realizing there's no space, and reversing out like it's a Fast & Furious scene. Also, pickups should be handled right at the gate and sent out by one "messenger Habibi." It would make things so much smoother!
