Stopped by last night for our fourth or fifth visit, and it just keeps getting better. My husband and I first came here for a dinner date back in 2019, and we've returned several times over the years. The last time I was here with my cousin, they were just starting to build the new section. I peeked in before we left and loved the green witch aesthetic. I came in SO EXCITED to try this place out! Good reviews, recommendations, and I was absolutely disappointed. I was happy they had what I was looking for and the food was really good, smaller portions for sure. So don't come hungry unless you wanna order the whole menu haha. Unfortunately, about an hour in, in the middle of eating our meal, they closed out our tab, with no heads up, no nothing, and told us the bartender/ server was leaving & someone else was going to take care of it. Great! Thats fine. 15-20 minutes go by, we want to order some more, and no one comes by to ask us anything or attend to us. Back again. Stopped by last night to try out their new (or I guess returning) Wicked Elixirs! Per usual, had a great experience. Everyone's so friendly and helpful. It was weird that we had to wait 15 minutes for a table - and even for a table that was free the whole time but I understand there are reasons we do not know. It was in between 4 other tables with people already seated so there was a server in that area. BUT they gave us a tour of the back room that you can book for parties, which was fun, and we sat outside in the cooling down weather while we waited. This is my favorite themed bar! The vibe is wicked and there's plenty of artwork and hidden gems to admire throughout our visit. They've also expanded and have a bonus room plus outdoor seating. Expect a long wait on weekends though, unless you have a reservation. My go to drink is a Raven's Claw and I also tried out their Peppermintini. Raven's Claw- This is a rum based drink with pineapple juice and berry. It is sweet but very strong because they are quite generous with alcohol here. Peppermintini- This is a seasonal drink so enjoy while it lasts. The peppermint flavor is refreshing with sweet white chocolate undertones. The sugar rim gives you an extra boost of sweetness. The food, decor, and drinks here were truly so incredible. I'm not much of a drinker, so I had ordered lots of food and some mocktails. We had three different kinds of mocktails and enjoyed all of them. My personal favorite was The Upside Down! My friends got a bunch of different alcoholic beverages and it seemed like the Grey Witch was the table favorite. All of the drinks here are pretty and delicious. They also ordered the green tea shots and said it was very smooth and also tasted amazing. For food, I tried the French dip sliders, chicken cordon bleu sliders, Cajun fries, filet mignon steak bites and choco flan. All very tasty options. The choco flan is a seasonal menu item right now. It looks like it was made in a Bundt cake mold, which was interesting. It was more on the thicker side, but very creamy and the chocolate part below paired perfectly with it. Luckily, the blackberries that came with it were very sweet and not sour at all. The French dip sliders were so good that I ended up ordering another one! The Cajun fries were also tasty. Other people in our party ordered the garlic parm fries which also have truffle so it's not quite what I would order or enjoy. I did not try it, but everyone did said they liked it. I have had this spot on my list to try for a while! The atmosphere is very dark and romantic, and I enjoyed the interior a lot. We only came here for drinks, which were nothing to really rave about. They were strong, however, which is always nice when spending good money on a cocktail. But, I wasn't overly impressed by either of them at the same time. Service for us was really, really slow. The name alone had me at "hello." Okay, so since it's Halloween and my friends and I love a good seasonal themed bar, we decided to check out The Cauldron. It's definitely cute inside with moody lighting and witchy vibes but honestly there's only one prime spot: the table in front of the spooky fireplace with the holographic ghost in the mirror . If you can somehow request that seat, do it. It's hands down the best seat in the house. The drinks were fine, nothing bad but nothing that really stood out either. They do have a camera setup where you can take pictures and upload them to their gallery, which is fun but I wish there was an "add a ghost" photo filter or something, and a way to email or print the photo would be nice. I loved the drinks here; they were so creative and, most importantly, delicious. As an espresso martini girl, I had to try their pumpkin espresso martini. It was so good and full of fall flavor. I also got the Zodiac drink. At first, I thought you'd tell them your birth month and they'd make a drink based on that, but instead, they feature a specialty mystery cocktail for the current month. No same-day reservations. We walked-in and the front host said it would be a 1.5hr wait. I absolutely love the decor of this place. There is so much to look at, your head will constantly be turning in every direction trying to take it all in. Just don't stare in a particular direction too long so someone doesn't think you're staring at them. The drinks are well themed and delicious. There wasn't a drink that I didn't like. Our family came on a Sunday evening, and were immediately taken in by the atmosphere (see uploaded photos), including the framed photos and dark paintings, library, and magic mirrors. The ambiance is perhaps a little over the top, but makes a unique, one-and-done visit, especially for those fond of alternative, macabre art - you know who you are. While a little kitsch, I can appreciate this type of thing. We shared the Beef Bourguignon, a classic, savory French stew ($16) which was small but rich, the seasonal Beef Sauerbraten ($16) a beef chunk and egg noodle dish which was fairly unremarkable, a delectable and rich Chicken & Brie crepe ($14) which would have been elevated with thin slices of pear, and the highlight, the Croque Monsieur Sliders ($15) with frites - small ham sandwiches with melted cheese topped with béchamel. None of the food was extraordinary, but none was bad. Proportions were small, but appropriate, perhaps generous, for the price. Service was fast and kind despite how busy the place was, and we were seated quickly, with only a 20 minute wait despite how busy and small the location was. I've been tracking down the Taurus Zodiac card throughout Zodiac season and today Arianna (hostess) completely made my night. I called to see if they had a Taurus Zodiac card which they had been out of, she found a card, and set one aside for me until I arrived. The Cauldron is a witch themed bar in Buena Park located right across the street from Knotts Berry Farm. They are located on the southeast corner of Beach Blvd and La Palma. Parking is usually not a problem as they have a good sized lot. They do not take reservations, but they do have a live Yelp waitlist. We arrived on a Saturday night around 5:45pm. It wasn't too busy yet and there was no wait to be seated. That would quickly change over the next hour. We have come here a few times before and always sat at a table. This time, we decided to sit at the bar and I would highly recommend this. The bartenders are great and there is a lot of fun action going on behind the bar. The pumpkin makes faces, eyes move, spiders crawl, bottles catch fire, picture frames move, and Simone the cat makes a few appearances. We started out with food which is French inspired. We had the gougeres savory cheese puffs which were tasty. I had the French dip sandwich which had a good amount of meat and a good portion of steak cut fries. She enjoyed the French onion soup which was good. She also had the beet & chevre salad which was good, but the beets might have been canned. Next, the fun part... the drinks. They have a very cool "Wicked Elixir" menu with four drinks. This is a hands-on experience where all the ingredients for your cocktail arrive in vials in a chest along with a spell. You mix up your potion, read the spell, and enjoy. She got the Faelight Fizz which is vodka based with champagne and a glittery dust which was great. I started out with the Greenman's Garden. It has a unique dark green color, and is rum and pineapple forward. It had a nice cucumber nose on the first sip. For the second round, I had the Ceridwen Cherise which was excellent and two drinks in one. It has cherry syrup on the bottom and if you take a sip through the straw, you get a nice deep cherry flavor. If you drink from the side of the glass, you get a refreshing lemony light cherry flavor. She had the Raven's Claw which was good with pineapple and berry flavor. For round three, I had the Inside Job. It was a nice bourbon drink with luxardo liquor which takes the edge way off the bourbon. It also has some absinthe which is boldly evident on the nose on the first sip which I loved. She had the Cthulhu's Revenge which was good with rum, cranberry, and a little fizz from the ginger ale. If nothing on the standard drink menu tickles your fancy, ask for the tarot card menu. It is a large stack of tarot cards on a ring which contains the ingredients for every drink they have ever served, most of which they can still make. We shared the Blue Milk which is Disneyland inspired and is a nice semi-thick, coconut flavored blue drink. They also have a monthly Zodiac inspired cocktail that is themed to the current astrological sign. Our bartenders Rachel and Omar were excellent, fun, and very attentive. The Cauldron has a 90 minute time limit, but we were allowed to stay for almost three hours. We will definitely be back soon. Considering that this cocktail bar is across the street from an amusement park, my first thoughts (prior to reading others' reviews) would be lower service and cocktail standards, as well as high-priced drinks; however, I'm impressed by their customer service, their cocktail preparation, and the reasonably-priced standard drinks! Between the 2 of us, we ordered the following ($14 each): Inside Job Hive Mind Cocktail La Louisiane - my choice and our favorite! Loved the complexity and smoothness! Having dined elsewhere earlier, we stopped in for drinks only. The food menu has many attractive items for next time. The theme and decor offer much to keep the eyes entertained (the stone floor, the plump furniture, the jagged brick fireplace, the wooden beams -- and all of the artwork, cats, witches, pumpkins, and more). The seating options consist of a more intimate setting on the bar side, with a brighter, more open area on the side. Given the description on their website, "The intimate setting features a dark and cozy atmosphere", it was far brighter in the bar area than we expected during our late afternoon visit (wish it was darker inside). The Cauldron is such a fantastic, beautifully curated experience all around, a definite recommended gem nestled among the big touristy attraction restaurants near Knott's Berry Farm. Exquisitely decorated in regular time and also seasonally, they have a great selection of drinks and foods that are guaranteed to tempt almost every palate.
