The staff is genuinely the sweetest. They're always so kind and helpful, and every time we walk in, we feel like family. On top of the amazing food, they have such a fun selection of kitchen and home goods, so I always end up browsing longer than I planned. So I went back... with hope, curiosity, and a healthy appetite. Our party of five was seated immediately by a kind, reserved host named Fonda (no, not Jane or Henry ). I shared my past fondness for Plori with him, and he assured us we were in for something special. And we were. The decor now feels brighter and more elegant, lighter color tones, sculpted drop ceilings -- a subtle but classy update. The service? Gracious and warm. The food? Next-level. Fonda and I even bonded over restaurant stories, the kind of personal connection that makes you feel you're part of something special. He truly wanted us to see how Plori has evolved -- and wow, has it. We started with warm, crusty rustic bread paired with a velvety hummus spread -- the perfect Mediterranean welcome. Then came the Plori Chips: thin-sliced zucchini and eggplant , lightly fried and seasoned -- golden, crisp, and addictive. The Alaskan halibut was a stunner: thick, pan-seared to perfection, resting on a silky vegetable risotto with a savory lobster jus. The seafood flavors danced on the palate like a symphony -- a true standout. Also worth mentioning: the Lavraki (Mediterranean sea bass) -- simply grilled, flaky and sweet, the essence of the Aegean Sea on a plate . But the real showstopper? Dessert.! And not just any dessert... Plori now boasts desserts by legendary French pastry chef François Payard (yes, that Payard -- formerly of Le Bernardin and Daniel!). His creations are absolute masterpieces. The chocolate mousse was pure bliss -- dense, rich, and dangerously addictive. The fig cake was divine: chewy, fragrant figs layered with fresh fig jam and dusted with powdered sugar. And the pièce de résistance? While ordering cold cuts, I asked for a packaged smoked chicken and packaged hot dogs. I briefly stepped away to grab something from the refrigerator. When I turned back around, I saw the employee behind the counter (a man with a large brown spot on his right cheek, possibly the owner) LICK HIS FINGER and start rubbing something off the packaging. Yes -- licking his finger and touching food packaging behind the counter. Alarmed, I immediately asked, "I hope this isn't expired and you're not removing the expiration date." I asked them to hand me the items, and sure enough both the hot dogs and the smoked chicken were EXPIRED. Instead of addressing the issue, the owner (who was standing right there) started arguing with me, claiming he was removing the price, not the expiration date. That explanation made absolutely no sense. Why would someone be scratching labels off packaged food behind the counter with their saliva-covered fingers? The entire situation was unsanitary, deceptive, and deeply concerning. Handling food after licking fingers, attempting to remove labeling from expired products, and then arguing with a customer instead of taking responsibility is beyond unacceptable. I later heard from someone whose husband worked there years ago that meats were sometimes washed with chemicals when they started going bad before being sold. If that is even partially true, it is extremely alarming. Between the expired food, the tampering with labels, and the disgusting hygiene practices, I strongly urge people to stay far away from this place. There are many other delis in the area that actually respect food safety and their customers. I will also be reporting this to the health department because no one should be served food handled like this. Okazało się, że zarówno hot dogi, jak i wędzony kurczak były PRZETERMINOWANE.
