The staff was nice. I don't like that you see two different staff for different stuff. And they charge you a cancellation fee if you don't call 24 hours before. I called the nite before because I had to work in the morning. they charged me the cancellation fee. No it was not 24 hours but they could had waived it as a one time courtesy since I was returning. The Kabats are awesome. They have a busy schedule, don't be taken back if you are booked out a few weeks. Side note to that is they have a cancellation wait list where you might have luck getting seen sooner. But once youre in you are IN. The providers take the time to listen to your needs. I've had a consistently disappointing experience with Dennis at Kabat & Associates Physical Therapy. Sessions are supposed to last 60 minutes, but he only works on me for about 15-20 minutes before leaving me to exercise alone. I let it slide before, but today crossed the line. I arrived on time for my 3:00 PM appointment, but Dennis didn't show up until 3:15. He spent about 10 minutes with me, gave me two exercises to do on my own, and the session ended by 3:30. That's barely 15 minutes of care. I came here to relieve my pain, but instead I feel like I wasted my time, energy, and money. There's been no improvement, and I don't feel like I've received proper attention or treatment. I do not recommend this place--especially not Dennis. Look elsewhere if you're seeking real physical therapy support. read more

When I started my therapy my hips were painful and I was having difficulty going on daily walks. My expectations were not very high but because of the therapy I received here I can now go on my daily walks with no pain. The therapists showed me a "more efficient" way to walk and worked with me to teach me exercises. I am still amazed at how well they were able to bring back the function of my hips. The entire organization is upbeat and friendly. Having said that I do need to say that they are busy but when it is your turn they do focus on you and take the time they need. Because they are busy it can take a couple weeks to get in. It is well worth the wait. They are by far the best physical therapists around. Do yourself a favor and book your appointments with them. read more

I was very hesitant to go to physical therapy because I had gone to five or six different places and I honestly felt it was a complete waste of time. I was at a point in my life where my health got complicated so I decided it couldn't hurt to try physical therapy again. My pain management doctor, Dr Sepehr Rejai, from Alta Bates in Berkeley, referred me to Kabat & Associates. I have been working with Kevan and Kervin. I like Kevan because he's very patient with me and he's very caring. I was very upset one day and he sat there and listened to me. He's very knowledgeable too. He explained something about my surgery that made sense to me that nobody else had brought up, which is kind of a big deal, I think. I like Kervin because he figured out that one of the reasons I have pain where I have pain is because one of my limbs is shorter than the other. I had no clue, but we put a shoe lift and it seems to be working so far. The office staff is great. And you'll be greeted by a warm "Hello" by Lisa, the receptionist. What I am trying to say is, if you are looking for a physical therapist, a. good physical therapist that can change your life, give Kabat a call. There's only five stars, otherwise I would have given more. read more

The staff at Kabat and Associates - Sam, Adam, David and the rest of their team are very professional, competent, friendly, and compassionate. They take the time to get to know their patients, they listen, answer questions, address any concerns, and converse throughout the therapy session. I always feel welcome and feel that I have had a good workout at the end of my session. With each session, Sam and David push me to what I am able to do. Adam has each patient's routine set up and he is already setting up for the next exercise as the patient is finishing up. I've been having a bad month. My right pinky is numb and I work in a 24/7 call center where I answer hundreds if not over 1,000 calls a week and I'm constantly typing, clicking and gesturing while I talk (It's a weird quirk). So you can imagine I'm a bit freaked out at the possibility of not being able to work at 100% capacity. From the moment I stepped in the door, Kabat and Associates put those fears at ease. I'm not the easiest person to deal with but the front desk staff was very helpful with assisting with paperwork and everything. My PT's father even came out and made me smile and told me she's on her way to see me! I saw Dani who was so friendly and open with me from the first moment we shook hands. One thing I appreciate and anyone getting care here is that she is very direct with you and gets to the heart of the matter, at the same time she is like the best cornerperson you could ever ask for because she not only armed me with so much knowledge and information about my injury but she empowered me to be an effective advocate for myself. Dani didn't know how hard my month had been with work issues, family stuff and everything else that comes with life but still her amazing manner and great attitude has really means a lot. Went 5 times with no improvement. PT's lack of knowledge & understanding of a very common injury was mind boggling. The young male assistant to PT's needs to quit. He's obviously there because he needs a job not because he's interested in what he does. Poor demonstration skills of proper technique for exercises & then he disappears. Frustrating if you have questions. Ended up going elsewhere & just after 3 visits I have noticeable improvement. I don't recommend Kabat at all. Wasted copays & time! read more

I was referred here by my doctor, and I believe my only choice due to my insurance. Yeah...no! I came in 4 times and each time had a different therapist. Each time having to explain again. Each time was quick. God forbid leave me on the Electric Stim machine longer that 2 minutes, and don't even have the option of laying down for the Stim while in pain. God forbid providing some ultrasound especially considering the type of problem I was having. The way they move people through here...I don't feel they provide personal service at all. I simply stopped going as my condition did not improve in the slightest, and it was just a waste of my time. Quick to take your insurance and copay, and quick to get you out of there. read more

I was referred to KAPT by a friend who was treated for the same condition I have. My insurance doesn't cover PT, but I went anyway and paid out of pocket for therapy. My therapist, Mark was EXCELLENT! All good things to say about him. My poor review is more of a reflection of the office personnel. That department is slow to return calls and in some cases not at all. Weeks after my initial call to start therapy, I finally received a call stating that they had received my message, but had not called me back because they didn't have openings with my requested therapist. (would have been nice to receive a call earlier stating that). I eventually had several appointments with Mark, which I was happy with. It was recommended to come to therapy twice a week, however there were not openings to come twice a week. They did attempt to pass me off to other therapists, but I insisted on only Mark. Appointments were sporadic and many times I would be called at the last minute. Alas, I had a series of appointments scheduled first thing in the morning. I called to inform them weeks in advance that my work schedule had changed and to please cancel those appointments and to call me to reschedule. Never got a call to reschedule. Fast forward a couple of weeks. Today, I did received TWO phone calls informing me that I missed an appointment and would not be seen again until I paid the no show fee. When I called back to challenge the fee, I got a rude, condescending, argumentative response from Lisa. She stated that she would have to "conduct an investigation on the matter". Seriously? Interesting that all my other appointments that were scheduled for that time were cancelled as I requested. read more

Physical Therapy at its finest. I alternate between Sam and Kurvin as my therapist. They are both spot on for recognizing the areas of my body that are a little OFF, rather than just focusing on my one main issue. They treat the whole body, including my mind. I worked with Sam yesterday and one of his assistants, it was somewhat challenging and a little painful, but Sam helped me work through the pain and got me aligned. He is very encouraging, and he makes me believe that I can push myself and do better than I did the day before! I highly recommend Kabat PT. My husband was referred to this outside PT by his Kaiser doctor due to his head injury. We have Mark who is a Doctor of PT from NYU. He is EXCELLENT and I swear seems to know more than the doctors and neurologists(they should teach neurologists these techniques so he can feel the pain and swelling). He can actually tell where it is inflamed or swollen and can pinpoint where the pain is and THEN he works his "magic" with his fingers! It was the first time in 9 months my husband had some pain relief in his right jaw and ear area. He still has a long way to go, BUT this is the first time we have HOPE! We also worked with another therapist, Dani, (also a Doctor of PT from NYU) and she was just as good. These are excellent therapists and know what they are doing-you can tell they have lots of experience. Mark is calming(which we need since we are so stressed!) and nice and Dani is sweet and upbeat! Also, my husband recently tweaked his knee and Mark did the exact moves the doctor did(we went to the dr after PT) and more moves even and said it is most likely his meniscus-sure enough it was what the doctor said too. Oh and I also like the way he not only tells you what he is doing and why he also shows you visually what to do and explains the physical aspects of the brain, and how it is all interconnected like with the symptoms so he appeals to all your senses and learning styles (auditory, visual, by touch, etc). I personally rather go to this Physical therapy over any other including Kaiser's-we have gone to many PTs over the years and this is the best one we have been to.I also realize medical doctors(like the neurologist) tend to rely on medicine to get you better and believe that will help you recover and just keep on experimenting on you with meds til one works, but I was surprised by Mark's techniques how I rather rely on his therapy to get us physically better which is more natural and works better and no dangerous side effects. I cannot say enough about this PT group-just EXCELLENT all the way around! Btw, the entire staff are very friendly and professional from my experience. Also as soon as I know how many visits are approved, I book all the visits right away at one time to ensure I get an appt bc they look busy! Better to be prepared -my advice bring your calendar with you on your first visit and work it out there which may help! read more

Here for my husbands physical therapy appointment. He has had no issues with the therapist but as I sit here in the waiting area I'm becoming more and more irritated with how unprofessional the women in the reception area are. I do not need to hear about your video on Facebook of you on a hover board nor how many people have viewed it. Nor do I need to know what issues you are having with billing, what you are wearing for St Patrick's day, or when the next office party is. If you spent less time visiting and more time doing your job people wouldn't have to walk in and interrupt your conversation. I'm guessing the therapists are more professional than the office staff or my husband would have mentioned it. read more

I was disappointed in this place. When I was referred here by my doctor, thy made me an appointment with the wrong person! I saw her and she told me this wasn't her area of expertise and I would have to see someone else. She also insinuated that my diagnoses were made up. She asked me "were you actually diagnosed with that or did you research yet?" It makes me highly annoyed that someone would suggest that. When I finally saw the correct therapist, she wasn't really a specialist in the field I needed. My doctor ended up finding out my insurance sent me to the wrong place. And that the doctors couldn't help me because my problem was so specific. The front staff is incredibly nice, just wish the first girl I saw was competent! And I'm very disappointed that I had spoke to a receptionist on the phone about my conditions and they had me see the wrong doctor. read more
