We were so lucky to happen upon this store. Being from Hawaii, born and raised, the name caught my eye and I was rather hesitant. But we wanted some Paso Robles shirts and hats so we came in hoping... The woman helping us was kind, patient, enthusiastic and guided us exactly to what we were looking for. The abundance of choice is amazing and we were particularly enamored of an awesome raincoat/snowcoat with a stunning color. Unfortunately, living in Hawaii, there is little need that could justify the purchase. We enjoyed ourselves here. Mahalo for everything. read more

Went in to get both kids some slip on vans. Price marked was $35-36 dollars. My son wears a size 3.5 which they consider to be a "men's" size therefore got charged the men's price. My daughter is a size 13 which is kids and was charged the $35 which would've been fine but it was a display shoe which was dirty since they were white. To me it's not the money, but the principle of doing business. Won't ever shop here again. read more

Wow Kuhunas used to be an awesome store to shop at great service, selection, and prices. Not anymore we moved to Idaho and come back to visit once a year needed some sandals and shirts. Asked the girl a question and she was very short and had an attitude. Very disappointing ! Found a pair of sandals and the price was ridicules, went around the corner and got them for $15 less and the service was awesome ! read more

Kahunas Surf Skate & Snow is not an establishment that I would have expected to find myself! I don't surf, I don't skate and I don't play in the snow. I was drawn in by the presence of the Blundstones! These boots which resemble the clodhoppers worn by Li'l Abner Yokum in the comic strip Li'l Abner. Blundstones, to their credit, lack shoe laces, so they evoke one to say, "Nice clodhoppers!" when you see someone wearing a pair. I do not remember who it was that told me that these Australian boots are the most comfortable shoes ever made... but that statement stuck in my mind and whoever it was that said so had the credibility of someone "in the know". So I have been thinking about those boots for over a year. The experience of shopping at Kahunas is good! They have high end outdoor wear. Patagonia was one brand I saw a lot of. They had lots of hats that looked unique, and a plethora of high end sandals. The sales crew were helpful and cheerful in a friendly way. Close your eyes for a moment and do a thought experiment. What sort of person would you expect in a shop called Kahunas? (pause) Okay, open your eyes. Two young enthusiastic and good looking individuals with an easy manner about them. They looked the part of the store as in, "Hey man! Good to see you! Where you been man?" "You have Blundstones in size 10?" "Sure man! Maybe not that exact color, but we got 'em! I'll be right back" I try them on. He and the sales girl are engaged in a happy discussion about something, but I can detect there is a "professional" manner in which they speak which masks an underlying affection they have for each other. I envied the young man being able to hang out with the girl and talk all the day long with her. "I hate to inconvenience you, but do you have these in a size 11?" "Not a problem man! I'll be right back with another pair." This pair was pristine. As well as never been tried on, they fit perfectly. "How they feel?", he asked. "A little loose, you know?" "Yeah man, maybe you need a different size?" The girl says, "My Blundstones are loose. That's how mine are." I am thinking of my doctor. Last time I visited, I told her about some recent sickness that I had that made me useless for a week. She told me, "Yes. That happened to me also." I looked at her and said without a smile, "Thanks! That makes me feel a lot better." I suppose she got my joke but didn't want to laugh in the case that I might have been serious. She doesn't quite know me yet. I notice that a lot of people use that argument: "That's the way it is for me... so quit your bitch'n!" It's a powerful argument. I was intrigued that the guy kept referring to me as "man". I don't understand the linguistic gymnastics of that turn of the word. It seems to have a respect and also a familiarity built into it that begs some respect in return. Got the shoes. Enjoyed the shopping experience and feel happy with them when I think of the charming couple at Kahunas that helped me select them. read more

Kahunas has been cool since it first opened 20 something years ago. The staff knows the business. I wanted a paddle board and they explained everything to me. They didn't have paddle boards to sell but spend 30 minutes helping me, regardless. That's solid customer service. Every time I pop in, I'm greeted with a genuine smile and help. read more

Cute surf shop located in the heart of Paso Robles. Great selection of flipflops for both ladies and gents ranging from $20ish to $100+ (sic leather ones). I got super lucky and picked up a hot little Reef bikini in the Bikini Bin ($15/piece)... yeah found a matching top and bottom which is rare in these "bins". They have a nice selection of small and large St. Christopher necklaces too! Service was solid. read more

Wonderful store that I've been going to for most of my life. They have an amazing selection of Patagonia and classic surf brands, also other brands that are rare to find in shops! Super awesome atmosphere and super kind employees that are always eager to help. Definitely recommend for anything from little gifts to grabbing something a little dressier but that is still a surf brand. read more

Awesome spot. Just got someTeva boots and a Patagoina women's vest for fall that I LOVE! Such a rad store. Ended up buying early Christmas gifts: Ethica boy breifs, a 20 fl oz hydroflask with straw lid, a nice Penelton shirt for my dad, and a Yeti tundra 45 on a whim because they had it. Husband had to cut me off from buying too much, although he was eyeing some super nice Blunstone boots....I'll be back! read more

Super expensive!!! Very small selection of womens clothing and accessories. If your kid is hardcore into surfing or skating, then maybe this store is a good idea, but I can get this stuff a lot cheaper elsewhere with a larger selection. read more

Got a gift and wanted to exchange but they won't without a receipt. Who gives a gift with a receipt? Tacky store, tacky policy. Would rather buy from a chain store them be burned by a local who doesn't care about store policy. Oh and shirt still had the tag on it so I could tell how overpriced they are.
