Absolutely horrible customer service. The employee we spoke to in this store was so rude and unprofessional. Twice we tried to ask her a question about the store's hours and each time she mumbled incoherently in response, then walked away and ignored us, apparently hoping we would just give up and leave - which we soon did. Back in my younger days, I used to be shoe obsessed. Now that I'm older (and wiser?), comfortable wearability is more important to me. Not that I've abandoned style as a concept, but after two broken ankles in 14 years, I lean toward stability. Which brings me to visiting Famous Footwear in Paso Robles. We were on our way to the Bay Area to attend a funeral. As we drove, it occurred to me that I hadn't packed my dress shoes. Yikes! Though the weather forecast was for rain, I didn't want to have to wear my boots the whole trip. I got lucky and found a pair of name brand leather dressy flats in my size in the clearance section. I tried on the shoe for my slightly larger foot, and it was great. Score! Paid the cashier and headed out. Seems like a happy story, right? Turns out that I should have tried on both shoes. There was a size discrepancy. Though both marked as one size, in actuality, the right shoe was at least a half size, if not a full size bigger. Holding the pair up to one another proved this to be true. Unluckily for me, the wrong shoe was the too-big one. I ended up almost hobbling while trying to adapt a gait that would keep the shower on my foot instead of stepping out of it. Yikes! Strictly speaking, not the store's fault. Whoever sold the chain the misfit shoes gets the credit for that. I was also too much in a hurry to try on both shoes, which is on me. I can try adding a pad to keep my foot from slipping, but I likely will be donating my barely worn shoes. Perhaps someone whose right foot is longer than their left will get lucky. By the way, the cashier did the cardinal sin of retail - when I asked about a location for nice flats, she just waved her hand to "back there", instead of offering to show me, or at least giving direction to a specific aisle. read more

Absolutely the worst customer service I've ever seen. Sadly to say , the 2 girls working on Saturday, they don't want to work, I had to go ask for assistance twice, I got the feeling that I was bothering them, I purchased my shoes and left. I will find another place to shop read more

This store is a total joke! The store hours change frequently and they do not update the hours online. I understand staffing is difficult these days, but at a minimum, update your hours. Also, the inventory online never matches the in store inventory. We have wasted a lot of time and money driving to this location only to find them either closed, or without the item that we were seeking. read more

There were two employees when we were there. The two girls greeted us. When I asked where the Teva's were, the one girl pointed and said half way down the aisle. She didn't clarify one side were women and one side were men. Only after ai went back to desk did she she tell me where men Tevas were. The two employees both stood at front desk talking and laughing the whole time. There were two other couples there plus a single male. All looked confused and seemed to have a hard time. One couple walked out. When we left we could hear another couple arguing about where the shoes they were looking for. Suggestion: one employee on the desk the other on the floor asking if people need help finding the shoes they want. Felt neglected and that these two employees didn't care. I'm actually pretty happy we have one of these stores in the North County. The shoe shops downtown offer cute but overpriced shoes and there's not always a great selection for kids and adults at some of the box stores. I use this store as my go-to shoe shopping and typically find what I need every time. The displays always look nice, there's always a huge selection of shoes of all types. They also carry socks and accessories (hats, gloves). You can find sports shoes, boots, fashion shoes, kids shoes, men's shoes and more. read more

While they have a good selection of shoes and the young girl working was very pleasant, I will not be returning to Famous Footwear. The sign on the door clearly states that face masks are required. However, a man and his children came in with no face masks, walked around the store with his children touching everything and made no attempt at social distancing. When I asked the employee why the people were allowed in without masks, she told me that her manager told her that all they could do was put up the sign...that they couldn't enforce it. Sooo...my health is of more importance than a pair of shoes! Good bye Famous Footwear!! read more

I have never had such poor customer service at a shoe store before in my life. Initially I wanted to measure my son's feet and asked if there was a foot sizer...they glance around and casually point for a while until I finally locate the sizer. The store was empty with no other customers...so when I found a pair of vans that fit him on one foot we wanted the other pair unlocked from the box so he could walk around in both and see how they fit. She tells me she would need the other one.... currently on my son's foot so he could try ONLY the other one on.....store rules. Because they are on clearance ($49). I ask if we can speak to her manager considering we were the only people in the store and perhaps try them both on. She finally asked a coworker after saying her manager wasn't there and made an allowance for him. Then when we finally find the pair he wanted I realized the listed price where the shoes were stored weren't the same as what he choose. So I asked the sales person how much they cost....she looks at the box and says "probably $74.99" .... So I then have to request that she check the price considering that all the other shoes in that area were on sale.... So at this point still the ONLY customers in the store I tell her we are going to run to Target and see if they have anything else so could she hold them for like 30 minutes. She said no...you need to put them back on the shelf..... SERIOUSLY I put them back ($64 on sale btw) and will NEVER go back to that store. Not sure how this place could possibly stay in business. read more

I went into famous footwear today looking for a specific shoe for my daughter. I asked the woman assoc.# 278033 if they had a certain color. She said 'everything I have is out' I took that as..look for it myself. I did. Found it. Proceeded to cashwrap. Not a word...smile..nothing. Then..she asked for my phone #..which I don't give, and she was very unfriendly. Not a word. Took my money. Told me to choose receipt type. Not a thank you...have a good day...nada. Usually ok service but have noticed recently that they put out the shoes you want and don't stock them or they put out a price tag and then say oh those shoes aren't that price. It's the only price tag there! Just not very friendly and very misleading. I hope the Nike store is better. read more

I can not give this location even one star. The store manager has been so rude, arrogant, and snotty with not just us, but with everyone...she genuinely deserves to be fired. A special shout out to Anabel the store manger she helped me with my shopping needs, took the time to explain ways for me to save money and was very courteous and a very pleasant person.
