This was my favorite store on block island. First, the staff were great. She was so nice. We had a…read moregreat conversation and she was willing to help find items or answer any questions I had. The pricing varies which was great for all shoppers. It wasn't all super expensive. The sold so many different items. Things from housewares, pillows, bags, jewelry, trinkets, frames and so much more. Their location is just off the Ferry. You see it when you are on the street. So it's a great location. Overall this is such a cute tiny store that packs a good about in it.

But that's all right, the wear just adds character to it. The first thing you notice is that it's small and very cramped. No AC in this place and on hot days it definitely gets stuffy. The inside has an old and exotic smell to it but combined with the salt air makes for a very pleasant experience. There isn't really enough room inside the small building so the stuff inside frequently overflows onto the street. The merchandise at The Glass Onion is eclectic to say the least. Different items and curiosities from around the world and from local Rhode Island artists and craft people. The inventory is always changing and every time you visit it is a new experience with cool clothes, shoes, jewelry, rugs, books, bags, soaps, baskets and strange and unique art all stuffed into the tiny edifice. The Glass Onion is definitely a store that marches to a different drummer. No attempt at luring people inside with pretty signs or slogans and just getting into the store can be a challenge at times. But once inside a unique adventure awaits. The Glass Onion is just a shack, but a very, very cool shack.

I gave this store 4 stars because they have a ton of different beauty products, however the area…read morewas kind of messy for makeup and they had a lot less designer items than other stores. The best find was the bareMinerals original loose powder kit, which unfortunately at the time only had the dark shade available. Their staff seemed decently friendly but quite busy and a little flustered. It was a bit more high traffic when I went (around 5pm), so that could also be the reason. The shoe section in this store was horrible, everything looked old and used and was all over the place. I would not consider buying shoes at this location. On the other hand, they did have a lot of great finds in home decor. This section was very well kept and stocked, there was a lot I was left inspired by. The young gentleman working this area was extremely amicable and willing to accommodate my baby and myself. I also did notice that they had a wide variety of clothing, so much better than the other stores I have been to. The clothing at this location is more reasonable in terms of what someone would actually wear and the pricing. I am seriously considering going shopping here for my daughter and myself. The best find for me was kids clothing and women's jeans, both of which were cheap for great brands such as Limited Too for kids and Lucky Brand Jeans. Overall I would say that this store is worth returning to. I do not consider this a 5 Star store, however 3 stars is too low of a rating. If they would clean up and restock their makeup and shoe department, that rating could change dramatically. One more plus is that they are pretty fast at checkout and keep enough people on registers to match the demand.
