After a lunch in the food court at Mitsuwa I had to get some dessert. The pictures at Kai Sweets caught my eye immediately. Unfortunately I did not ask exactly what Mont Blanc is before I ordered it. I thought it was ice cream but it is instead a sweet paste that I got in the sweet purple potato flavor. It was a bit overwhelming with sweetness and the flavor became too much after eating just half which I split with someone. The green tea ice cream was good and if I return I would just get plain ice cream!

I got to try a Mont Blanc for the first time here and I got the sweet potato one with sesame ice cream. The Mont Blanc was such an interesting texture and was very tasty with the sesame ice cream. Highly recommend grabbing a dessert here if you're in Mitsuwa!

From the amount of people getting it, I thought the quality comes with the hype. We got the Matcha, Strawberry, and Pineapple. If you get a Small in a cup, it comes with a cake cone. The Large is a waffle cone. The Matcha is ice cream, and I should have known from the appearance, but the Strawberry and Pineapple are both sorbets. I never had sorbets on a cone, and I definitely don't want to again. The Strawberry was very artificial tasting. It tasted straight out of a Laffy Taffy candy. Their menu is pretty deceptive since all the flavors were labeled under "Soft Serve Ice Cream." Keep this mind when you order, because the fruity flavors were not good!

Okay. Looks like play-dough, tastes like purple yam with sugar.

No line on a Friday evening. They close at 8 even though Mitsuwa closes at 9. I ordered the Matcha ice cream with the purple potato Mount blanc as recommended. They should rename this the Dino Mash. Given the colors it made me think of Barney. They should also make it in kid's size. Kids will love it. Mount Blanc seems bizarre as a name, when nothing about this is white. The matcha is super flavorful and the purple yam comes through, although a bit sweet. People have written that they can't taste the matcha but I think it's very present: Try it for something different. Split it with a friend because it's a lot. The location is very clean and the small menu keeps it organized. It's in Mitsuwa so there can be a line, but there are a few tables by the Kai Sweets bakery where you can also pick up some tea and extra adorable macarons!

Mont Blanc soft serve is pretty interesting. The noodle-like play dough on top of the ice cream is apparently made of chestnut puree. I think literally everything in here has a long line just because there's only one Japanese market. I wish they had more ice cream places like this around town. Some people complained about getting fruit flavors. Might as well go to a Disney World or Hawaii to get Dole whip ice cream. The line here moves super fast, even if it seems long. Maybe they should rename the purple potato flavor to purple yam since it's so sweet. The black sesame is very good too.

This spot satisfies the sweet tooth with reasonable prices. This spot usually has a really long line, I was fortunate to go on a weekday mid afternoon when it wasn't busy. I ordered the black sesame soft serve with the matcha string topping (don't remember the official name of it), but I thought it was worth the type. You can only add this topping with a large size soft serve.

I've been watching to try this place ever since I saw a viral video about the Mont Blanc. I got the black sesame soft serve with purple potato Mont Blanc. I will say I do think this was a bit overpriced for the amount they give but I don't know any other place that does Mont Blanc so it's worth trying at least once. My partner and I really enjoyed the soft serve. It was very airy and light. I saw some other reviews about the soft serve flavors being too subtle. That was not the case with the black sesame, it was clearly black sesame flavor but it wasn't too overpowering or sweet. The Mont Blanc had a similar consistency to red bean paste and it was room temperature. I'm not sure why but I thought it would be chilled. I would get the soft serve again and pass on the Mont Blanc just because I'm not sure if it added enough for the price difference.

Love the drinks here, would at least stop by when I'm in the neighborhood. Had the macaroons, they were tasty and yet decorated very cute with glitter.

This place is in the Mitsuwa supermarket. We ordered Mont Blanc purple potatoes with matcha ice cream. It was nice mix. I enjoyed it. The Mont Blanc was unique. Entire dessert was not overly sweet so it was good. I ordered Matcha drink and some soft ice cream before. They are good, maybe little pricy. I would recommend people to check this place out.

This is a newish ice cream stand (kai Creamery) and is an expansion of Kai Sweets where they sell mochi donuts and the cafe next door. The ice cream is ok but it is not as good as they ice cream shop (Matcha Love) they replaced. They offering is roughly the same with the addition of Mont blanc style ice cream.

We were exploring the Mitsuwa Marketplace one day and stumbled upon this dessert place! Overall the desserts were really good! Our crepes were excellent. I love the Banana/Oreo Combo with Vanilla ice cream. The crepe was so light but actually held together so well! My boyfriend tends to like fruit-flavored desserts, so he liked the macaroons very much. Plus, they had really cute designs! We would definitely come back again!

Long line but quick and friendly service. The server was able to quickly explain what the Mont Blanc. It's a sweetened chestnut purée in the form of vermicell available in a variety of flavors including purple sweet potato and green tea. I've included a quick video on how it's made which is really fun to watch. I got the green tea soft serve with the purple sweet potato Mont Blanc which was good, however I think the topping is a bit too sweet for me. My only wish is for more seating. The whole area is very busy on the weekend!

Tried the purple potato and sesame flavor today; the two were not smooth like prior ice creams, and left me feeling a bit less sure why it wasn't creamy but like it had too many bubbles? Still, the flavors were there, and enjoyed by all. So texture, off, flavor = good.

Tried the strawberry, matcha, and hoji cha ice creams. The strawberry tasted artificial but the matcha and hoji cha were good.

I finally ventured to a Levain Bakery to make my own personal assessment to determine and formulate…read moremy own opinion. Yes, the reviews are verifiably accurate and true. This location 167 West 74th Street is the original brick and mortar storefront. Levain Bakery does validate for all the hype, sweetness indulgence and fresh-baked artesian cookies and baked goodies. I am Cookie Monster from "Sesame Street" whose eyes are bigger than his stomach who becomes highly excited to engulf all cookies characteristic aesthetic thrashing, splattering every where when consuming within mere minutes. There was a short line waiting to enter for orders to be placed. Upon entering the air conditioning is at full artic chill blast and the air has a sweet aromatic odor emanating throughout. I inquired with the sales associate if the classic chocolate chip cookie contained any nuts who responded "no." I do not have any food allergies. I absolutely do not like nuts in any form. I am not allergic to nuts either. It is not my cup of tea. I am very grateful the classic chocolate chip cookie does not contain any nuts. Customer service is very attentive and exhibited who assisted me with respect, patience and perspective to explain and listen to my requests and needs as I matter. This female server was not curt and I was not rushed. I was acknowledged. I was seen. I was heard. I was not dismissed. I was respected without the standard producing a disgruntled face of reluctance to service me. I am one life in the smallest measurement. The female associate permitted me to take photos of the cookies in the display case without question which is posted with this review. Merchandise of T-shirts, tote bags, mugs, gift tin boxes are available for sale as well. This location is small as it is take-out and go. There are several steps going downward at the entrance which is not ADA accessible. There are some outdoor benches for seating, but no table. I suggest to order and consume in the comfort of your own home for full immerse enjoyment with a table. Yes, cash is accepted as that works greatly for me. Levain Bakery complies with "Prohibition of Cashless Establishments" as of March 21, 2026 where all retail and food establishments in New York State, including New York City, must accept in-person cash payments. Thank you, Levain Bakery for not giving me a red card! I was not blatantly ejected. I would surely return for another visit. Chocolate chip cookie $5.75 each One word: WOW! The interior was oozing with semi-sweetness. The cookie is gargantuan and very thick somewhat bulky. It is massive size well known weighing exactly 6 ounces (170 g) each and measure about 8-10 cm. in diameter and 3-4 cm thick. It is not a traditional flat cookie as I hoped. It is massive chewy interiors. It is soft. It is not crispy. Levain takes the classic chocolate chip cookie and make it their version. It did break apart and dropped onto my plate upon the third bite. It is amazing! I suggest warm-up the cookie in the microwave for approximately 1 minute. I purchased two (2) quantity of these delightful chocolate chip cookies. Delicious. I enjoyed mine with one glass of red wine which I did achieved equanimity state of mind. The red wine was a birthday 2023 gift from a work colleague which I finally opened with good reason. I was floating! Nota Bene: Store policy: "There are no returns on food or beverage. Merchandise (T-shirts, bags, etc.) may be exchanged within 7 days with a receipt. Items must be unworn/unused and all original tags/packaging must be included."

We were introduced Levain Bakery cookies when I had my little guy over two years ago. One of my friends came to visit, gave us a box and told us to try it because the cookies are delicious. I remembered how big and filling the cookies were, you'd sit in comfort knowing how the flavors pop in your mouth. Now cut to this past year, we found out after exploring the website, there are gifts sets. Our current go to is the new parent gifts. We see it as whether a bew parent or one who is going through the next chapter with more children to raise- it's thoughtful of how a package can bring a smile to some sleep deprived parents who want to eat and relax. This was a cute idea, wish someone would gift to us after our twins were born. One day we want to check out Levain Bakery. For now, happiness is explored through the website and delivered to our famiy and friends. Thank yoi for the sweetness. Picture credit: taken by my best friend who received our new parent gifts set.
