After hearing that the restaurant had recently changed ownership, our group decided to hold our February gathering here. At 7 PM, nine very lively ladies met for dinner. We were quite a noisy group with plenty of conversation and quite a few requests, but the young owner--who felt like he could be our son's age--handled everything with remarkable kindness and patience. He took our orders thoughtfully, made helpful suggestions, and even surprised us with some generous service items, which made the food taste even better and the whole evening more enjoyable. Thanks to his warm hospitality, our gathering had an especially happy and relaxed atmosphere. We are already thinking that this may become our regular place for our monthly meetings. Every dish we tried was delicious, and we were especially touched by the thoughtful detail of serving Rooibos Key West tea in a teapot and continuously refilling it with hot water for us. The menu had a lot of options of both drinks, teas, and desserts. We settled on the strawberry bingsoo. When it was served to us, it was very well presented. I can tell they do care about their desserts with love and passion. I feel korean pride. Great job (I had ones in Singapore, palisades NJ, Ann Arbor in 2023... but this was the best) even much better than Japanese sweets in Manhattan. Food presentation is also great with care. I've actually tried coming here twice before but both times google would say this place is open but on the door there would be a note that says the store is closed which was quite annoying. I ordered a black sesame bingsoo; the portion was good and it was yummy but a bit pricey. We sat in the back area which was pretty. My boyfriend and I stopped by earlier today for a quick brunch. We thoroughly enjoyed our experience at The Blossom. We ordered the Blossom Tteokbokki and their donkatsu kimbap. With the tteokbokki, you can select a spice level between 1-3. Initially, we intended on selecting 1, but with the owner's recommendation, we went with 1.5. This was perfect for my boyfriend's spice intolerance. The dish looks and tastes distinctive from other tteokbokki dishes- it contained japchae mandu, regular and cheese tteokbokki, and fish cakes- all topped with these long crisps (fish perhaps?). The donkatsu kimbap was filled with katsu, cabbage, and veggies- and drizzled with katsu sauce. At first I thought the cabbage was egg, and was slightly disappointed to find that the egg was cabbage- however! The cabbage really complements the donkatsu making the kimbap taste light and refreshing. I also really appreciated that the rice layer is super thin :) Overall, we really enjoyed our experience at the Blossom. The owner and wait staff were attentive and sweet. I got seated in the back, which was great because it was hot, downside was we were all the way in the back, I think they forgot about us. The service was good and staff who attended to us was polite. We tried their black sesame shaved ice which was delicious but a bit on the smaller side compared to some others ive tried. Nevertheless, the taste was great as well as presentation. We also tried the milk tea cake which was okay. The buttercream had a nice milktea taste but i found the cake just a teeny bit dry than what i usually prefer. Came here on a beautiful Sunday night and the place was pretty packed. So much for social distancing. First impression was that there were a lot of confusion from the staff. There was a random line forming outdoors for some reason but the people ended up dispersing after waiting too long? My husband and I went in and waited for someone to seat us and we stood there for quite some time before someone was able to assist us. There was a lot of staff running in and out of the kitchen to the back outdoor dining area so I assumed they were very busy. We got seat within 10-15 minutes in the back area which everyone was obviously coming to see! A cute little backyard feel, there were 3 large plastic dome seating areas that larger groups were seated in. There were patio furnitures and regular tables to accommodate those who were parties of 2-3. Larger groups such as 4 or more were seated inside the dome which was a really cool concept. They opened up the plastic to get some air in so I think this would be really cool if this was during the cooler months since there's space heaters too. My husband and I only came for dessert...we were given a little piece of paper where you put your phone camera up to a QR code and the menu pops up on your phone - pretty cool! We ordered a single black sesame shaved ice, chamomile tea, and a milk tea cake. Since we only ordered dessert, everything came out quick. Our teas came out in this really cute glass tea pot with loose tea leaves and a cup and saucer. Very Alice in Wonderland. The shaved ice came with condensed milk and sesame on the side for some extra sweetness..they were a little stingy with how much condensed milk they gave us so that could definitely be improved. The milk tea cake was kinda mediocre to me. It wasn't anything phenomenal and for $9/pc, I would've definitely skipped on this one. People obviously come for the atmosphere and to take pictures for IG. It was a really cute backyard feel and the tables were spread out. A lot of people did follow the mandatory masks service and I did feel save enough to bring my 3 month old out. The service was ok. Again, the servers seemed to have been really busy and kind of all over the place, but they were friendly with us I gave it a 3 star because it is kind of pricy and service could have been a bit more organized. A lot of people were focused on serving the back that the register in the front was left unattended to. I'd come back again for dessert. For 1 shaved ice, 2 teas, and a cake, everything came out to $43! If we got food it would definitely have been more! The outdoor setup in the back is very nice, with igloos you can sit in at a minimum of $80 spent. The menu is mostly desserts and drinks, as expected of a cafe. I've had the strawberry shaved ice, which is large and shareable and makes its price worth it. My favorite menu item is the Dutch cold brew, a thick concentrated coffee kinda like a syrup. The Blossom is yet another cafe on Broad Ave in Palisades Park. There are so many of them, that at this point, it's hard to make them stand out - especially if you cater towards the Korean/Asian clientele. The Blossom was opened up by the owners of Cafe Mocha which is down the street, so they have the same type of drinks and dessert, but elevated. For example: they have the same type of Korean shaved ice (nunkot bingsu) but instead of the casual flavors like mocha/oreo/milk they have "fancier" flavors like pumpkin. And instead of just tea, you have the "fancier" teas like Mariage Freres from France that they bring out to you in a box to choose from. In addition to their cafe desserts, they also have casual Korean food to dine on as well. What does make The Blossom more unique is their outdoor set up - there definitely aren't many eateries in Palisades Park that have their own outdoor space that they can convert like The Blossom did. The indoor space was renovated nicely, and their outdoor space has been designed just as nicely, and they even have space heaters to help with those chilly nights, and plastic "igloos" were brought in to heighten the outdoors Covid dining experience, but there is a $20 per person minimum if you want space inside their igloo. I found this to be particularly ludacris given that my friends and I visited at an off hour and their establishment wasn't even busy... what type of person who goes to a Palisades Park, NJ cafe spends a minimum of $20 per person on dessert? While their space is nice, and food/desserts/drinks are all above average, this policy of theirs really just caught us off guard - especially because their igloos was one of the reasons why we went.
