I couldn't search for Pohaku Lana'i in Yelp, so I was finally able to find a place where the balance lock existed. Balance Rock is a historical landmark located at Pohaku Lana'i in Haleiwa, HI. This ancient Hawaiian site for God worship was recently visited by world-famous Japanese baseball great Shohei Ohtani who came to see it because it is known for its "big energy". On a recent visit, it was easy to feel the aura of peace surrounding the unusual natural rock configuration that appears to balance one large rock on top of another. Pohaku Lana'i offers plenty of parking for easy access to the grassy park area where the Balance Rock is located. Close to the ocean, the park is a comfortable place for people to gather, enjoy the beach, and restroom facilities are available as well. Being raised on the North Shore of Oahu I would say Kaiaka Bay is the North Shore's version of Magic Island. When I worked in town (Honolulu) I would run Magic Island on my lunch breaks. Here at Kaiaka Bay - There aren't any paved walking paths but it's still fun to run around the the perimeter of park (dirt) or the paved road. There is plenty of parking. There are clean bathrooms and showers. There are BBQ areas and campground. There are several picnic tables, mostly shaded. I see people surfing and fishing here but have honestly never swam. I have spotted several turtles here. The park is located Haleiwa on Haleiwa Beach road, right next to Haleiwa Elementary School and is a great place to picnic at. read more

My friend wanted to hunt for driftwood so I figured I'd come along for the ride, as my friend told me that this beach park - Kaiaka Bay Beach Park had a secret spot for harvesting driftwood. 1st of all, I had to ask my friend to confirm it was not illegal to harvest some driftwood, Lol! The last thing I need is to get a fine for taking driftwood, and getting arrested! Lol! Where is Kaiaka Bay Beach Park? Well, best way to describe it is..................it's about a 1/2 mile down the road from Haleiwa Beach Park. Kaiaka Bay Beach park appears to be less busy then the Haleiwa Beach park, and the the day I came here I saw a few folks jogging/walking along the park, as well as seeing people fishing, surfers coming up from the beach from a morning surf session, and folks bringing their doggies here to run the path trails of the park. I basically came here to help my friend look for some driftwood, as she is a craft hobbyist. We were able to find a special spot on this beach where it was pretty secluded, but the special spot was LOADED with all types of driftwood! Besides finding drift wood, I was also able to capture some wonderful morning pics! (Check 'em out gang!) The only thing I found bad about this place was when I was helping my friend rummage for some driftwood, I did find trash here & there, and even found a hypodermic needle in the sand. Be careful gang when walking on the sand & looking for driftwood.............don't go barefoot. To to be safe...........please wear shoes (like I did today!). Overall, still a nice looking beach park.............not too busy here, as I suspect more locals probably come here over the tourist. Looking for a nice quite beach to hang out.............give Kaiaka Bay Beach Park a try! read more

I remember the first time I learned how to surf, it was here in the summertime years back. The waves can be brutal in the winter, the reefs are rough and beware of the sea urchins as well. I wouldn't recommend beginners to surf here or swimming either, however, It's a beautiful place to sit and chill and relax, and it's away from the bustling Haleiwa town. A perfect place to sit and have a picnic or just meditate. Also you can camp and fish as well. On the other side of this beach, you can see Mount Ka'ala and Ka'ena point and other beautiful things... Enjoy the outdoors and if you do decide to have a picnic or smoke, please don't litter. There are trash cans throughout the park. Malama aina. As locals say, Lucky we live Hawaii... read more

Beautiful spot to have a quick photo shoot or even a quick picnic. Big grass areas for kids to run around and picnic tables along the beach side. Bathroom available and lots of parking along with road. Saw lots of people taking a dip in with their boards. Don't believe it's a place to actually swim though. read more

After snatching a dish from the Waialua Lunch Wagon, we were looking for a place to chill. Saw this spot on Yelp and it was pretty close by so we decided to give this spot a go. Feels: It's Hawaii so pretty much everything is beautiful. It isn't the most touristy spots so it's also not superficial pretty. A nice simple beach with a good view of the mountains and the ocean. They have a bathroom and shower in the vicinity as well. There are a lot of surfers, tables and benches but it seems like people chill there to tailgate and barbecue too. Parking: I came here twice and the parking wasn't too bad nor were there a lot of people. Overall 4 Stars. An excellent spot to enjoy the simple pleasures. Bring your family, friends, or just yourself. Whether you're eating a meal, playing in the water, or doing some reflecting, this is a pretty good spot. Kaiaka Bay Beach Park - Yessss. - Parks Near Me - Haleiwa, Hawaii

On a recent North Shore excursion with friends from out of town, they wanted to see the big waves and maybe take a dip. A wandering spirit kicked in, and I thought we should check out some new parks and beaches along the way. One of our favorites was Kaiaka Bay Beach Park. Located close to Hale'iwa town, it's easy to get to and with considerably more parking and less people than Ali'i Beach just down the road. Park access is a big loop of a road, with sprawling fields offering plenty of running room for our four-footed companions, as well as shade trees sprinkled around. They have somewhat clean restrooms, foot washing stations and amazing views of the Waianae Mountains, and up the North Shore. The beach is beautiful, but has lots of coral and rocks. The sand is clean. At the time of the year of this writing, the waves are too intense to swim, so the beaches were closed. If you're tired of too many people closer to town, check this park out! read more

A very nice and good North Shore beach park just outside of Hale'iwa Town to have a picnic, relax at the beach, and even enjoy a sunset. Generally, plenty of parking along the loop road. Lots of big grass areas to run and walk around. read more

If your looking for a beach to take morning or evening walks, jogs, or other exercises, fish or camp this is a nice place to go. This is not a swimming beach its mostly sharp shoreline rocks there is a small sandy area on the right of the bathroom facing ocean to take a dip or soak your feet. Went walking here and had a nice time, everyone out in the park was soo friendly. read more

This is a nice small beach if you just want to get away not be too crowded while you're over at the North Shore. I usually come here with my dogs so they can run around and have fun in the water, the beach is located just outside of classic H-town and offers a nice quite area. There is plenty of open grass and trees for shade or you can go down to the beach. The water is mostly rock and coral so watch out if you plan to swim. Overall I recommend tho place of your tired of the crowded beaches but as I mentioned before the only down fall is you don't really have the nice blue water and there is a lot of rocks and coral so where your reef shoes. read more

My love of photography has brought me to many different locations on the island, but one of my favorites is Kaiaka Bay. Beautiful scenes abound with brilliant colors, textures and tones. This beach park is a bit off the beaten path, but well worth seeking out. Besides being a bit out of the way, Kaiaka benefits from being more in tune to a "locals" beach rather than a big tourist attraction. On any given day, you may catch a surf school giving a lesson or two, folks walking their dogs, local families having a picnic or barbecue, fishermen trying their luck or even divers taking their share of the ocean's bounty. The clean, sandy beach gives way to an area that wields nice pieces of driftwood. Hobbyists and collectors can be found searching for that "perfect" piece for their collection! If you want to just have your lunch or dinner while watching the waves or sunset, there are tables to do so. Parking is plentiful, but as far as a comfort station goes, at the time of this writing, it was still unavailable due to a fire. Hopefully it will be rebuilt in the future. Quiet hidden gem away from the crowds. Just a short trip from the main tourist area and just a couple of miles from Dole Plantation. Water was warm, beach was hot with just a few locals. Lots of space to walk, swim, etc. Great place to relax. read more

Just depending on which area of Kaiaka Bay Beach Park you go to. One side is nice & green with lots of shade and trees. The other side is bare, no shade, hot & lots of dust... Well we were on that other side that was hot and dusty! We were out there fishing so we were prepared with a quick-shade canopy & hats. Not the best spot to fish, mainly because this side has lots of turtles that feed on seaweed that is fronting the reef ledge. read more

Nice park that was the site of the North Shore Marathon. Spent some time here with my husband that day. I have to say there was ample parking and the views were quite stunning. There weren't too many people on the beach... more people were more concerned with getting to their Kahuku shrimp, Matsumoto/Aoki's Shave Ice, or checking out the views elsewhere. Come here if you want a more local feel for your beach going needs. I'd come here again since it was nice and calm... no tourists to get in your way. read more

I come here to fish rather than sun bathe at the beach nearby. They've got a couple of spots with fishing pole holders near the rocky edges above the water that you can set your pole. It's a really nice beach where it's nice to just hang out all day, with a book maybe, and just relax. Alas, the fishing can be rough here. I've never caught a thing, but my husband has caught a couple. This spot is populated with sea turtles too! They're friendly, but they're a protected species, so give them their space! It's also important to note that the restrooms here are closed indefinitely, so they're just port-a-potties. read more
