We were super excited to have this theatre so close to our place in Lanikai. We went on a Tuesday afternoon around 3:30 pm. The prices were a little bit cheaper due to it being a before 4pm showing. We easily parked outside the theatre. We got a large bag of popcorn and a drink. The prices seemed reasonable to us. The viewing theater was cozy and clean. The projection was good and so was the sound. Our recliners were a little sticky but I brought a towel to sit on. The air conditioning was perfect. We enjoyed our movie and will definitely be back. read more

What an amazing theater! We had my son's birthday party here and he said it was his favorite party of all time! All the kids had a blast and even the adults enjoyed themselves. I've lived 5 minutes from this theater for the past 30 years and have seen it go through many changes. This current version is by far the best. While the days of $1 movies are gone, the theater now has current films at reasonable ticket prices, and most importantly, it's CLEAN. I'm giving it 5 stars because it deserves more attention and support. My only small suggestion: refresh the popcorn more often, as it can occasionally taste a bit stale. Otherwise, this is a fantastic neighborhood theater worth checking out. read more

Wow, I can't believe I haven't left a review for this place yet. It is so close to my house, so very very convenient and super well priced. It is not fancy or large--very much a no frills place. But that's all you need! I just want to pop over, have some popcorn and watch a movie. This place is perfect for it. I love that they splurged for large comfortable chairs as opposed to squishing everyone in. I had some issues with finding my ticket once and they were so so patient and nice with me. At the time I went, it seemed the AC in the lobby was out. Not a big deal to me, since I didn't spend much time in there--I felt bad for the workers but they did have two giant fans going, so seemed to have rectified the issue fairly quickly. Because they're small, they have to pick and choose what they think will be the hits. I must have interesting taste because my only complaint is that they don't always have the movies I want to see! Their current regular adult price is only $13.75 and for Tuesdays only $7.00 except for holidays and first releases! Very clean and comfortable reclining seats. Ok, so to be honest I didn't have very high expectations of this theater, but when I moved to the area a few years ago I realized this was the closest theater to me so I have been more than a few times now. I actually think the theaters are nicer than at Ward. Every seat is a good seat and they have reclining chairs. I feel like the chairs can be cleaned better becasue of the material and they aren't really falling apart like at other theaters. I do like the self-serve fake butter. They have two dispensers here. They also have a lot of food options, but I usually just stick to popcorn and a drink. They have icees and candy too. On our last visit we noticed that they were advertising to rent out theaters for private events. My husband pocketed an application because his birthday is coming up. smh. I guess I need to rent him out a theater for him and his family on his birthday. Apparently you can also bring your own DVD. I have also bought a garbage sized bag of popcorn for a school event. It was so cheap and fed like 200 kids. It's a crazy good deal! read more

Great small local theater with free parking lot. Inside theater rooms have nice 2cup holder, comfortable vinyl recliners with footrests. Nice snack bar with tasty overpriced items for you enjoyment. The small soundproof theater rooms have great sound and viewing from all seat locations. Very convenient 2 minute drive from my house. Friendly staff and clean restrooms with the exception of several automated faucets INOP. They also have a reward program for frequent movie goers, using your email and smartphone. I love this theater and the staff there is so sweet. Unfortunately I am very allergic to mold. With the recent storms we had I suspect the theater rooms had major leaks from the ceilings. As soon as I walked into the room the smell was very musty and I decided to shrug it off but I was instantly breaking out in symptoms. I looked up and the panels were swollen with water and mold was growing out of the vents. I only write this review as a caution to those very sensitive to mold. I did not ask for a refund because I really wanted to support this theater. I however won't be coming back until the issue is resolved due to health reasons. read more

Came here to see Top Gun and was surprised on how many show time choices I had. I Like the fact that I could reserve my seat ahead time, for just $2. They are fairly priced at $21 for two, which includes the $2. They also have $6 Tuesdays . The app was easy to maneuver. Seats are extremely comfortable, with a lot of leg room. read more

the projector quality is honestly bad. it's dark and has poor contrast. i watched a horror movie which is already dark to begin with and some points it was just black, couldn't tell if there was a shadowy figure in the scene because entire screen looked like a big shadow. read more

We've been customers of this gem for quite a while, we've even rented a theater out for a party before. Have always been happy with everything. Yesterday I took the kids to see the new ghostbusters movie. During previews, it kept glitching thick red bars across the entire screen. Unfortunately, it continued into the movie. I, and at least one other person, walked out to report it to them. They apologized, and said they'd take care of it. It took a while, but it went away....for some time. But it started up again later in the movie. Definitely not the ideal way to watch a movie, and to be honest - I was getting a bit irritated. I was almost at the point of walking out & asking for a refund. But we sat through & it eventually stopped glitching. When the movie was over & we made our way out, the employees were standing at the doorway handing out cards for free admission the next time we go & apologizing for the problem. Kudos to them for recognizing there was an issue & offering everyone compensation before anyone had ask for it. We will definitely continue to patronize this establishment!! read more

Perfect little gem! This is our preferred theater location. They have reclining seats and with smaller theater sizes you know your movie won't be over crowded. Each time we go the staff is super nice and the last time we needed a refund on one of our tickets as one person couldn't attend. This is a nice little cinema complex with four screens, reserved seats online and it smells good as of May 2023. We have a hard time with the Honolulu cinemas, they smell like nasty old popcorn grease. None of that on the Windward side. I don't recommend the farthest back 2 rows because the lights are on at floor level so people can exit, but it distracts from the movie. Note that they also have the cool recliner seats , we don't get out much so that was a fun treat for us. read more

The last time I went to Kailua Cinemas it was a dollar theater infested with cockroaches. I'm pleased to share that it now has bright red recliner chairs and appears to be totally renovated. Do not miss half price Tuesday's where movies are $6 all day. I paid my friend $13 for a reserved online matinee on Saturday. The AC in the theatre was perfect, but the sound is way too soft! Came here with my kids to watch the new Thor movie. We booked our tickets and seats online a head of time. The website was easy to use. When we got to the theater there was no line checking in. We grabbed some popcorn and drinks and we were off to watch the movie. The theater was smaller than expected but it was clean. The recliner seats were wide and comfortable. This is a family owned theatre, and we absolutely LOVE it! The staff provides the best service we have received, at any theatre. They are more like family with positive attitudes. They have the drive to make customers happy and have a winning experience. You would think that being so cheaply priced, it would be just the opposite. Small popcorn, candy or drink is just a dollar each! Yes, $1! Any movie, $5! We literally take our family here for under $30! That includes: Movie, popcorn, candy, and drinks for all! I'm so happy that whoever bought this Theater re-vamped the whole thing! It's really not the biggest but it's ridiculously clean and for the most part the staff is extremely nice. My mom and I stopped by to watch Crazy Rich Asians (as well as the rest of the island apparently). Luckily we went early to buy tickets bc the screening was sold out. Apparently you can buy tickets on their website, i'm not sure if they have Fandango. The concession stand has the basic popcorn, nachos, and hot dog. You can fill your own soda and do your own butter and cheese. Can't got wrong with this place. read more

Driving on the street, it may to difficult to Kailua Cinema the first time. It is hidden at the end of a small shopping center parking lot. There is no marque or sign at the street. We went for a private screening to celebrate a special occasion for my father in law. Aaron was super responsive and helpful with helping me figure out what I needed to make our private screening party a success. I was looking forward to it all week! The theater was extremely clean with comfy reclining seats, also the bathroom was really clean, and although I didn't get to meet Aaron the night of the event, Jerome was really helpful with getting the movie started and even bringing us a table for all of the food. I came to catch a showing of a movie that had already started but I was only a few minutes late so I didn't mind missing the trailers. But when I arrived the doors were locked even though I saw customers inside. The door said "use the other door" but that door was locked. There were two people working inside completely ignoring the fact that myself and another person were trying to get in the theater. You can see from the photos that they were just standing there having a conversation while we were visibly confused and trying to get inside. Even if you weren't going to sell tickets at least have the decency to acknowledge the customers trying to get in. One of the worst theater experiences I've had. I'm never coming back to this theater. (And I see a LOT of movies so their loss). read more

Bad service...Staff needs more training it a one star because I get to watch the movie I wanted to see.

Pros: (1) reclining chairs; (2) clean facilities; (3) plenty parking; (4) self serve drinks and butter (after you pay at the concession of course); and (5) a small flat screen outside each theater show how many minutes are left until your movie begins. So if you are at the concession stand, it's easy to glance over and see how much time you have until get inside to your reserved seat(s). Cons: (1) extremely small theater (due to having reclining chairs this limits the space for how many seats - which is about 20 seats); and (2) attitude of certain employees. Two interesting things occurred that I am unsure about holding against the establishment: (1) the boxes to hold popcorn were falling apart at the seams. I had to ask an employee for new boxes to pour the popcorn in; and (2) no box office, you buy the ticket at the concession at the same time you can buy the snacks. As a first time customer I was really confused where to go to buy tickets with no signs to explain this situation. My friend had to explain to me the set up here. Yelp Challenge: #37/100. read more
