"Spider-Man Brand New Day" made its debut while we were on vacation in Oahu! So naturally, we had to watch it! The nearest theater to us was Consolidated Theaters, located at the Kahala Mall! If I'm being honest, this theatre is pretty old and dilapidated! There was a funky smell in the air as soon as you walked into the theater (old and moldy). The paint on the railings as you walked up the stairs to the theaters was peeling off and rusty (not aesthetically appealing at all). Service was quick and easy. Prices were reasonable ($15 per adult). And the popcorn was about the only thing that was fresh and good, sadly! I will say, the seats were very comfortable! We had leather seats that reclined and personal cup holders to place our beverages (that was pretty awesome). The movie itself was the real highlight of our experience. lobby is loud and chaotic and there is no cell reception so everyone is frantic about accessing digital tickets. Food is expensive and pretty mid (wayyy too much sauce on the garlic fries). If you order something that takes time to make in kitchen, you will get a buzzer that will ring when ready. Note: one small box per transaction free Otherwise it's 25 cents per small box I ordered 3 things on separate transactions to get 3 free boxes. Super COLD theater we sat in but the seats were much nicer here than their competitor. Sound was good. Very happy to bump into Yelp friend Jackie K as we were leaving. Enjoyed another Tuesday evening movie with a good friend-Mission Impossible was non-stop action! The new layout affords two drink and popcorn butter dispensers, one near the stairs up to the theaters, and the other near the ample restrooms. The "patio-like" open seating was filled - there are several tables - a nice spot to finish your large popcorn and chat with family or friends. (It's between the slimmed down ticket purchase window-since many purchase through the app) and the expansive lobby. Love that the kiosk staff member can easily scan your phone for the movie QR code, as I breezed through and headed straight to buy my movie snacks! Costs have risen and when I asked for an extra box to better share popcorn (one person loves to add salt and butter and the other doesn't), I was advised it would be $.25. No problem, it's easier for everyone. The medium popcorn itself was $11; we didn't finish it, so we probably could have gone with the small bag for $10. Not a big price point difference, which is why I got the slightly bigger bag. My friend arrived and purchased an adult beverage for $10 (albeit not a fully filled cup). Water is $6.50 for a small Dasani bottle and $7.50 for a tad larger bottle. They also offer many upgraded food and beverage options, it's gone far past the old days of popcorn and candy! And the food looks great! The reclining seats with cup and table tray are comfy, and enjoying movies on the big screen remain a treat, despite the rising costs. Sadly, several guests in the theater, near and afar, ignore the advance requests to avoid their phones during the movie. I get it, you are super important. But as my friend finally told the person next to me (after the bright screen of his large unit affected our vision of the movie screen for the fifth time, and yes, he brought the screen up to his face, not held low in his lap), "if you need to do that, please take it outside." After fiddling for some time, he finally complied. And yes, it happened more than once even after that. (But again, I get it. Maybe he was an emergency or medical professional. So if you need to do that, please, simply take it outside, thank you.) Going to the movies is a treat, and as I mentioned, big screen is so enjoyable and a must to enjoy the action. And honestly, the popcorn is just so yummy (in moderation), with or without the added salt and butter (in moderation). We have always gone to the movies early in the morning or noon time and never had an issue with the workers at all until last night. We came for the 9:40pm showing of Spider-Man last night and had a surprisingly weird and unnecessary experience right at the start. When we went to purchase our tickets, the male employee working the box office made it so difficult for us to get our usual seats especially when it was open and available. He repeatedly gave us a hard time, insisting we couldn't pick them and gave us no explanation. He refused to back down, and since we just wanted to get our tickets, order food, and sit down without ruining our whole night, we eventually had to just give up and accept whatever seats he forced on us (Definitely not happy) The only saving grace of the entire night was the team working at the concession stand. They were all incredibly welcoming, kind, and accommodating, which turned our mood around a bit. Management really needs to train their box office staff on basic customer service. We won't be rushing back here anytime soon! read more

Saturday June 28, 2025. F1 starring Brad Pitt was a really, really good movie! I would watch it again! Lucky for me, I earned a FREE admission to a movie. So, I used it and It saved me, $19.75! A large icee is $7.50 and a hot dog was $9.00! I could've bought 6 hot dogs from Costco. lol. Movies has gotten really expensive. But, it's the experience watching it right away in an electric reclining, comfortable, leather seat. lol. Plus, air conditioning too. If the movie happens to be slow and boring. Hate the prices, but love the theater. I think it's messed up if you order a ticket online they charge a more than 2 dollar booking fee, but if you go try and get a ticket in person at the box office there's no booking fee but you run the chance of not getting the seat you want since it's reserved seating. But with that out of the way, with the renovations a few years ago this is basically a brand new theater. It's clean, modern, there's a ton of food, drink, snack, and alcohol options. The seats in the theater are nice and recline decently, the tray tables are useful. I've never had a bad experience at this theater, and my wife and I pretty much always go to this one instead of Ward. Sure they don't have as many options like Titan Luxe and IMAX, but who cares. I'll take the clean, modern theater any day over that stuff. read more

Pretty good theatre. The seats recline so that's good and it's almost a must for me now to go to the theatres to watch a movie. The grounds were pretty clean too. I like how their popcorn portions are huge, but almost so huge that you'd need 4 people to finish it haha. I like how they had truffle flavor but so sad they didn't have kettle corn. I'm not a huge fan of butter flavor... Also surprisingly their chicken tenders and fries were really good. It's made to order so we got a buzzer to pick up our food. We have not been to Kahala theater since the remodel. Before when we would come the flooring was all torn up and the seats were old. Not anymore!! They have plush, reclinable seats with a tray table. Large aisles to walk in. Super awesome! You can pick your seats ahead of time to get the best spot. They also have movie merch at the concession stand. We went during Moana 2 and everyone bought the items like crazy. Definitely a great theater to go to because it is not super crowded and it is small and intimate. There is also ample parking since it is located in Kahala Mall. read more

Have to start off with positive comments on service. All workers at the immediately made it known that they enjoy working there. They were all friendly and personable. Patient and ever present smiles. They worked seamlessly helping each other with all orders and that, being our initial contact there... awesome. But the floors are sticky. There is popcorn everywhere. The condiment areas are dirty and it made me hesitate to use any of it. The seats were comfortable, which everyone has come to expect of all movie theaters, BUT I am not sure if the ac was broken, but it was VERY hot. I struggled to enjoy the movie and found myself leaving the theater to stand outside and cool down. There were several other patrons that were watching the movie standing in the back and we bonded as we low key sweated together. We will NOT return here for this reason alone. Gladiator was not a short movie, but ac being so terrible ruined the experience and made the movie seem 5 hours long. read more

This review is for the food at the Kahala Consolidated Theater. You can actually get food here without having to buy a movie ticket which is good news for those who crave theater popcorn but don't want to see a movie. It can get busy at peak movie times like weekends but there's 3-4 lines and moves quickly. It took us awhile to get the burger vs the salad, unsurprisingly. You're given a buzzer to let you know the food is ready for pick up at the counter on the right. My friend saw the picture of the sesame chicken salad which featured a good portion of thick slices of fried chicken. WELL, what she got was a salad of chopped romaine lettuce and cabbage, and random slivers of carrot. The chicken if you can even call it that were tiny pieces of hard, chicken skin with no meat whatsoever. Inedible tooth-cracking hard. NO! I had better luck with the signature burger. That saved this review from being a bare 1 star. It was actually juicy and not over done with caramelized onions, seasoned mayo and cheese. The bun was soft. It comes with slaw or fries but I upgraded to the tempura green beans after the cashier suggested it. The tempura green beans were so good! Crunchy light battered tender beans. Not soggy or limp. Only thing that they were kind of over salted. Came with a choice of dip. It was a good amount too. Definitely recommend ! My burger and tempura beans pulled this review up to 3 stars. If you want, Consolidated sells wine, beer and hard seltzers to enjoy at the dining area near the ticket booth. I saw they had other items like chicken sandwiches and tenders, and flatbread. So I purchased a kids meal that came with a chocolate chip cookie & small drink. The cookie was a white chocolate mac cookie, which I mentioned didn't want, and wanted chocolate chip one. The person said should be in 5 minutes, told them which theater # & seating. Waited, waited, no one came.... So I approached to ask now 3rd time cause the movie was over!!!? I said I wanted money back for the cookie if they didn't have any! Finally, a worker said there's 2 cookies cause of the problem. Located in the Kahala Mall shopping center located on the Diamond Head side of the mall and if you are seeing a late night movie after 7:00 pm you should try to park on the Diamond side exit of the mall because most stores are closed and a lot of the exit are also closed except for the one to the theater and the one by the eating establishments. The movie we seen was the railway children and it was about the children being sent away by their parents to safety in the country side to stay there while there home was being taken over by the German army. The movie was really good I was surprised that in the whole theater there were only 5 customers, the inside was very clean and the theater employees wipe and sanitized the seats before the next showing. The seat are really comfortable and in really good condition and the air conditioning was good, if you are on the cold side you should bring a jacket or a blanket. Since Kahala Consolidated Theatre went through a face lift a few years ago, have been enjoying somewhat comfortable reclining chairs. Are they as comfortable as Ward Consolidated or some other theaters? No. Still, they are more comfortable than they were. And the cranked up air conditioning is a welcome getaway from the blistering Hawaiian heat all year round. They have also been home, for the last few years, to the Hawaii Film Festival which is held two times during the year. I have had the privilege of volunteering and going to as HIFF attendee. This theatre the perfect venue with tons of dining options AND abundant free parking. The Consolidated in Hawaii gets bonus points for carrying my very favorite food items in their concession. Kahala has both the Hawaiian Pie Company pies AND my most favorite tempura battered green bean fries. No need sneak in that musubi from 7-11 or...be "that one" who "forgot" they had that aromatic bento in yoa bag. No need! Happy to buy my refreshments at the movie Consolidated stands; especially with their stellar line up. Gotta support if we want to continue enjoying an occasional movie out! My voice was heard! Finally! Finally! Kahala Theatres has been renovated, upgraded, remodeled, modernized, sanitized, deodorized, disinfected, and probably a few more things. The doors are gone to give it a more open feeling. The concession is upgraded offering more food items plus the addition of beer and wine! $10.50 for beer and $14 for wine lol. But no need tax or tip! The seats are a huge upgrade. Comfy reclining seats with the most leg room I've ever experienced. At least six feet for social distancing! The seats have higher back rests, so you don't see any bobbing heads while watching the screen. The seat are still slightly lower, but not a big issue now since you can recline. The screen and size of each room is still the same size, so the number of seating is much less than before. Also, for social distancing, when you select seats, the two seats besides you are X'ed out. I chose the two seats in the middle with four seats X'ed out leaving just the end seats, so I pretty had the entire row. :) The sound system is much more clear. Overall, definitely a better experience than the previous years....decades. The staff were all very friendly, upbeat, personable, and still learning everything. I believe Kahala is showing more movies now. When it just reopened, it was only showing The Eternals, which was an excellent movie. A totally different feel from the previous, more childish Marvel movies and TV shows. Anyway, love all the the upgrades, and definitely a nice experience of normalcy. Definitely felt safe with the distancing and temp checks before coming. read more

11.21.21 Sunday night movie. Woohoo. This place is now open it looks clean. Its wide open and much more different then it was before. I had a 3:30pm ticket for a show and I reserved my seat. The menu is brand new and everything at the concession looks great but--- no ice cream on the menu. But... I did notice "Aha" sparkling water on the menu. They believe that there might be some ice cream on the menu much later they also have tons of beverages to pick from. Including wine and beer. The toilets are a different matter what was once a HUGE toilet area with the chalk board looking vinyl walls that we remembered (10plus toilets) is GONE! The toilets for the mall is what's available out past the person who checks tickets and literally towards the right of the theatre where it leads people to the exit- that's the bathroom now not in the theatre. MAYBE THIS will change but they did so much construction already... and I think they wanted to open the theatre... so for now the toilets are a walk outside the entrance of the theatre. I'm Glad they reopened this consolidated location. And perhaps I'll stop by for another movie again... the 4stars is cause there isn't any ice cream on the menu and the toilets are outside the entrance... Wow, Kahala Theatres definitely did such amazing renovations and looks so much more upscale with their exterior and food concession stations. Plus, they converted all their old-fashioned seats to recliners which is supposed to improve the audience experience overall. Service is great and efficient but the theater can get crowded during weekends and primetime hours. read more

I like Kahala Theaters, but my last exoerience was just ok. It's small, but not crowded. The theaters are not too cold either. Some of the other Consolidated Theaters are freezing inside. I love the food! It's more worth it to purchase the food items like sandwiches and fries, however I thought they were a little tight on the fry serving size. The only thing good about the food like the chicken with fries is it's better priced than the popcorn and drink combos. I do wish the popcorn and drinks would be cheaper, though. One issue is, the lage drinks comes with a free refill, but the closed the soda station before I could get a refill! How nasty is that! I will say that the service is usually fast, and lines are never too long. Kahala hosts many of the international film festivals there. My only issue is, the recliners stop short when they recline. It stops right before that comfortable angle, but I guess they do that on purpose, so people don't sleep. LOL I had to remove a couple of stars because there were some issues, but for the most part, it was ok. Could be better. BTW-The food, like the chicken strips and fries, is better than the Ward Consolidated Theaters. Ward One doesn't have the regular-sized container of chicken strips and fries. The Ward only has the smaller size ones. The kids' combos seem to be a better deal at Kahala, too. I don't think some of the combos are available at Ward. I didn't see it. read more

The Consolidated Theatres at Kahala Mall was one of my go-to movie theatres for the approximately three years I lived in Honolulu. The location was not so busy during the day, so if I had time off or a long break in classes I would come here and catch a movie. Before the movie they showed ads, which tended to be a mix of more standard ads and ads for local businesses. One of the ones for a local taxi service I still remember. Seats were clean and comfy and the screen easy to see. Concessions was easy to find and navigate. Workers were friendly and helpful. Nice place to watch a newly released film. read more

So far, this location was not IT for me! Workers was not on it. They're was only one worker at the counter where we would order food. Cashier took FOREVERS just to acknowledge me and THERE WAS NO LINE. And yet it took FOREVERS for my order! At this theater, WORKERS DIDNT CARE!
