We ate here for the first time a couple months ago and I regret that we didn't do it sooner. I ordered the combo plate with misoy chicken and kalua pork. Absolutely delicious and you get a ton of food, enough for me to have a leftover meal. My husband ordered the Lani ono tacos and honestly they were the yummiest, most unexpected like for us. That's actually what I've ordered the two other times since then we've gone. Sooo good!!! I don't know what the sauce is they put on it but delicious! We also tried their smoothies and they're so refreshing and tasty. I can easily say this is one of my new favorite, go-to spots. Here's my take. Instead of comparing their food to whatever other restaurants may have something similar, be open to their take on Hawaiian food. I think they've hit the nail to be their own unique flavors and food. Do NOT go to this place. My friends and I just moved out here and came in hoping to have a new spot to go to when we're feeling homesick but boy was I wrong. The food came out cold and when we went to talk to someone to reheat it, the person was incredibly rude about it. We didnt even ask to remake it, we just asked for it to be heated up a little. On top of it being cold, it seemed like their kalua pig and spam plate was the only thing even remotely Hawaiian about this place. You can imagine my surprise when whats supposed to be bulgogi (a Korean dish) is 60% of the plate. What authentic Hawaiian restaurant has burritos and tacos too? I really wanted to like this place! And it wasn't bad, it was just alright. I had the Combo 1 with Misoy Chicken, Chicken Katsu, a scoop of rice and the Mac salad. I was really looking forward to the Mac salad, but it was just average. The Chicken Katsu was good and it was breaded nicely! The Misoy Chicken was just alright, although the flavor did grow on me toward the end. Our food did come out in like 3 minutes and it was warm, but not too hot. Overall it was just an alright meal. One thing I dont like is when people use the word "hawaiian" to market their food when its not really hawaiian food. This is more like an L&L style plate lunch place. If youre from hawaii or been there you'll know what im talking about Teriyaki chicken.... miso chicken... shoyu chicken etc... is not hawaiian food. It is considered more "local food." Authentic Kalua pork is cooked underground... not in a crock pork with smoked flavoring from the bottle. I know it says hawaiian food with a mainland fusion... nothing hawaiian about this food. Yes this kind of food IS sold in hawaii but its not specially "hawaiian." Being born and raised in hawaii and of hawaiian descent... relocating to Idaho a couple of years ago... I get excited seeing places like this here in idaho. There's Kainoas and Mo Bettahs in idaho falls....and im glad they are sharing a piece of Hawaii here but its almost offensive to see people capitalizing off of the words "hawaiian food" when its really not. Just my opinion. It's like calling a pizza hawaiian pizza becuz there's pineapple on it. Also when serving "hawaiian food' it should be served with ALOHA. Hawaiian is not just a word... its a lifestyle and by reading some of these reviews... seems like this place is lacking ALOHA especially when having to make a wrong.... right. Maybe your employees need to be trained on how to serve ALOHA along with serving the food. Just had lunch with my wife. Ha ing been to all the Islands I'm comparing too. I had the wireout to try everything, the macaroni salad was good, and rice is, well, rice. The Kalua pork was slightly dty and had the taste of a smoked pulled pork rather than island pork, the was excellent and cooked just right. The Bulgolgi beef was also very good, as was the Katsu and Misoy Chicken. The Chicken Kaisu was juzt so-so with the breading falling off. In the wipeout, there is most definitely enough to share between two. My wife ordered the regular fish and chios mainly because of the mango tarter sauce that sounded interesting to her. She said the fish was very good, as was the sauce. However, the waffle frys were overcooked and crispy throughout. She also ordered a Blair Storm smoothie and said it was very good, although she wished they provided bigger diameter straws for the smoothies. We are going to the Hickory tonight so I wanted something light. Stopped off for our first visit. The cashier was super helpful and friendly. We ordered for our family for take out. The store has a great vibe. Love the Mountain Dew sign and the American flag. The place was packed with customers. Got our food and headed back to the hotel. Stopped off at the Chocolate Factory on the way. The food was fantastic. Even with the wait to get back, the meat was tender, moist and full of flavor. I got the pork islander salad and it was great. Fun place to stop for some cheap eats. Fast service and Hawaiian fast food. My small fry was extremely small. They were the size of McDonald's happy meal. My rice had some weird jar tasting sauce on top of it. Hot dog was ok. Nothing to write home about. Slaw was pretty good! Daughters salad was good as well. The ya is not too pretty but we're not bad. Very busy. They have a drive through which is nice. Place was packed so expect to wait in line to order. This is a good place for college kids. If you are a foodie I'd say skip it. read more

Honestly has really good food but more often than not if you order over the phone or online or a delivery service 9 times out of 10 they are messing up your order, missing full items from your order and such. And good luck trying to get it fixed or any type of refund. They'll give you some BS excuse that there's "nothing" they can do. Or can't prove you ordered that item (even though you may have a receipt). Word of advice if you order other than eating in, check the food right then and there in front of the employee handing you the food even if it takes a minute or two, trust me that beats being on the phone for 45 minutes talking to the BYUi student employee playing middle man and spewing non stop un helpful apologies. If you have ever been to a good Hawaiian bbq joint, don't bother coming here. You will be disappointed. If the idea was to market it to the typical Idaho meat and potato resident, they succeeded. All the food is bland and lacks all the proper flavor profiles. For example, the "Hawaiian slaw" flavor profile is the flavor profile missing in the "Hawaiian Mac". And seriously, al dente noodles in the "Hawaiian Mac"? Come on man!! Atmosphere was lacking. Hawaiian culture is built on the concept of Ohana. I felt no Ohana in this place. It was a take your order, sit your butt down, here's your food, eat and get out. Was hoping it was good as we just moved here and have been missing good Hawaiian food. Service has always been excellent and we've never had to wait long. We've tried almost half of the menu and for the majority have liked it. However, the food has not measured up to the same quality every time. For example, I've gotten the lani ono tacos three times and the first two times they were AMAZING, but the last time I got them the tortillas were stale and they only gave me a tiny drizzle of sauce. I'll also admit that I hate their macaroni salad, but that's personal preference and I would not mark them down for that. The other things I don't order are the wraps (was basically filled with lettuce/cabbage and no meat or sauce) and the misoy chicken. The other meats are far better but my husband loves the misoy chicken so again personal preference. I also LOVE the smoothies. So although, I'll admit it's not always perfect, I'd MUCH rather go here than Da Pinapple Grill. And I lived in Hawaii for three years ;) read more

4 stars because I went during a busy time and it took 30min for our food. I'm sure the food would have been made/handed faster, had it not been so packed that evening. The meals we chose were definitely yummy. We chose the five meat plate: spam, chicken katsu, miso chicken, bulgogi beef...and one more that I just spaced out on. Comes with rice and Mac salad. Since I'm already super familiar with katsu and spam, I will get a plate just for bulgogi or miso chicken next time. Their menu is packed with a TON of options: Salads, Chili burgers, smoothies, etc., but they have no desserts yet ( I was hoping for some Malasadas ). The trick to a great meal here is choosing the right options. Their rice with Teriyaki sauce is outstanding. It couldn't be better. Then get the meat you like with the right sauce. Mine is chicken katsu with the orange vinaigrette sauce. I get extra sauce and soak the chicken. Their fish tacos are also great. Buy lots and different kinds of sauces. Amazing place for quick yummy authentic island food. I got the two pork tacos and they were fantastic. My husband got the katsu chicken which he enjoyed. (My husband lived in Guam and loved this place) my only wish was that the scoop of rice they give you with every entree, I would have preferred it to be fried rice then just plain white rice. Very nice staff, but this food is not Hawaiian. The chicken doesn't come with teriyaki on it, only from marinade. Asked for teriyaki on the side and it was cold and congealed in a small container. The chicken katsu was bland and dry. The rice was very old and soy sauce had no flavor. I wouldn't recommend this place. read more

Stopping in rexberg and tired of typical road food of burgers, found this Hawaiian food place. As a person who travels to Hawaii several times a year and ready for some rice instead of potatoes I decided to give it try. I had the combo plate and picked shoyu chicken and Kailua pork. Came with white rice, Mac salad, and a drink large portion of meat but had to pay .25 for extra house sauce but good for dipping chicken and eating with a bite of rice. My wife had the aloha chicken salad which she really enjoyed with the orange vinaigrette dressing. Drive through was closed but went in and got take out to eat in our hotel. Total price $22. The menu was interesting. It included tacos and frito pie. That should have been a warning of horrible Hawaiian food to come. The food was terrible. Everything was either bland or over salted. The beef I ate was chewy and tasted burned. I can possibly understand poor quality food if it's at a low price. However, the price they charged for the portions they served was pathetic. My father who used to live in Hawaii was with me, and he thought the food was downright disgusting. I'm not naive enough to think that there's going to be very good Hawaiian food in Idaho, but the Crossroads on campus at BYU-Idaho is at least 4/5 stars and about half the price. I'm really confused by the good reviews for this place. This food might be acceptable if all you eat is microwaved Hot Pockets, but otherwise it's awful.
