    a salad and rice
    Patricia C.

Fun place to stop for some cheap eats. Fast service and Hawaiian fast food. My small fry was extremely small. They were the size of McDonald's happy meal. My rice had some weird jar tasting sauce on top of it. Hot dog was ok. Nothing to write home about. Slaw was pretty good! Daughters salad was good as well. The ya is not too pretty but we're not bad. Very busy. They have a drive through which is nice. Place was packed so expect to wait in line to order. This is a good place for college kids. If you are a foodie I'd say skip it.

Called ahead, waited 35 minutes outside their drive through window for 4 fish tacos. They weren't busy at all, empty dining room.

The food was flavorless and nasty. The Mac and cheese was so gross. I definitely will not be going back there.

Nothing Hawaiian about this grill. It's a misleading name. They sell hotdogs. Their food was disappointing. Especially for the price.

It should be renamed, "Kainoas tiny portion, overpriced Hawaiian Grill". On to of that, there is much better food to be had in Rexburg.

Three words: way too American. I went here twice looking for Hawaiian food and didn't find it either time.

The beef is so good. There are some menu items that are subpar. I think overall it's a good place for lunch or dinner

Great food and good service! Try the ono fries or Blair's town fries for something spicy you won't be disappointed!

Here's the bad: You will wait and wait for your food. Then you will wait and wait for your check. They simply don't have enough staff. Bottom line: great food, decent atmosphere, friendly staff - but takes too long. We have chosen to eat elsewhere on evenings when we have to pay attention to time.

The food is GREAT! We love da mixed plate and the sushi is amazing…read more I ordered online and the guy taking my order put me on hold to "go and ask the kitchen how long my order would take" he said 15-20 mins. Okay.... Around the 15 min mark we went in and it took at lease 5 minutes before anyone even spoke to me. Someone asked why I was there I said a pick up order they said they'd go check on it and never came back. 10mins later I talked to another server who said the same thing-- Left and never came back. Finally a third person asked me if I'd already been helped and when I said yes they just walked away. I eventually just left. 15 mins later they called me to tell me my food was ready. I don't understand why they make such a big deal about going to ask the kitchen how long the food will take only for it to take double the time than the kitchen said. I originally thought it was a one off but when we went back today it was the exact same experience. It's the most odd experience and you will walk away feeling like a burden to their service. I don't think we'll be back despite how good the food is.

I hate to say it, but I didn't love it…read more To be fair, I was born and raised in Hawai'i and you just can't get anything comparable to home in Idaho Falls. I actually came to the area wanting to try the bbq food truck in the same lot but they happened to be closed. But of course, I hear the music coming from U down Hayn Hot Plate & it reminded me of home....so I made my way over... The young man working the counter was sweet. The customer service was great overall, I definitely can't complain about that. The food, however, was not close to what I expected. The serving size was okay but Hawaiians love their rice. The fact that this plate only came with one scoop threw me off a bit. The mac salad was dry and the macaroni noodles seemed a little oily. This often happens when you don't let the noodles cool completely before adding the mayonnaise, which I can understand if you're in a rush. But, the flavor just wasn't there for me. The chicken katsu was different. Typically, the chicken is pounded & breaded. In this case, the chicken pieces were full on tenders. The katsu sauce was not at all what I'm used to - it's typically an almost gravy-like, sweet and tangy sauce. This tasted like some kind of soy sauce mixture. The mochiko chicken was okay. I had really high hopes but I don't think I'll be rushing back anytime soon.

The meats were great but would have like a little bigger portion of rice, maybe even consider laying a thin bed of rice on the plate first, and then place the meats on top. The mac salad had a little too much garlic which made it hard to finish. The musubi was great and this is likely the only place serving them in the area. I understand they are commonplace in Hawaii but this was first time trying it. Their hours are a little odd so if you're interested in stopping by make sure they'll be open.
