Went there on a Saturday night and it was a pleasant surprise. So firstly the beer list is very good better selections than some bars in the city. We had the poutine which was great. The southern gravy went perfectly with the French fries. The cheese curds also completed the poutine perfectly. We also went with the meat and cheese board and damn that was spectacular. The Argentinian chorizo was simply phenomenal. The jalapeño chicken sausage was also really good. The cheeses and the house made pickles were just totally awesome. All in all this is worthy of a return trip in the near future. read more

Go here with large groups of friends, who like to talk, who have money, because you might go broke while drinking 10 oz beers during a 2-3 course meal. There is NO NEED to offer beers at either 16oz or 10 oz sizes. if your a craft beer place or gastro pub, go ALL IN! ...OR offer a beer flight for the women who just want a taste. on this Thursday they were out of 4 out of the 15 draft beers offered. You would think that with a thin paper, ripped up beer menu it would not be a big deal to reprint or update the menus... who knows. Another baffling thing is the atmosphere. No art, plain white walls, dimly lit. Again, you will have to BYO-good time, because this bar offers nothing accept places to sit and nibble or drink i came here with 3 bros and we split a few apps including the sausage board ($14) which was taken down in 12 bites. This was my favorite beer bar in West loop. HOWEVER. I feel compelled to write this review because of the inappropriate customer service tonight. Several TVs were playing NFL preseason and my fiancé asked for one to be switched to the Cubs game. A bartender proceeded to refuse and say, "It's a Sox bar motherfucker" and double flipped us off. At first we were shocked and laughed, but he was... serious? How inappropriate is this to do to a customer. If this was us asking for a Cardinals game in Chicago or a Yankees game in Boston or something we'd get it... but Jesus dude. Sadly we won't be coming back, while asking ourselves "why can't we be friends?" and wondering why this guy is living in 2005. read more

Why do bars die so early in Chicago? Went with a small group on a Friday night. They closed their outdoor area by 11:30pm. It was a beer garden type of place so we were really looking forward to sitting outside, and the games I'd read about in other reviews would have been fun to watch, if not play. Great outdoor space. However, Paddy Long's (their sister bar up north) serves the same bacon wrapped dates for the same price, but you get 6 instead of 4, like at Kaiser. A bit disappointing, wouldn't you say? Also, their bloody mary was good, but came with NO fixins. No olives, bacon, celery, nothing. You'd think at a place that is known for their bacon that they'd at least have ONE piece in there, right? Our server, though friendly, forgot to put in my girlfriend's order and had her food come out when the rest of us were halfway through our meals. He was also no where to be found when we needed refills for drinks (we had to flag him down a couple times). At the end of our dinner when the check came around, some people paid in cash and the bf and a friend paid on a credit/debit card. After the bf and my friend left a tip, the server collected our check and then came back to us as we were leaving to ask for a bigger tip. Let me repeat that--HE ASKED FOR A BIGGER TIP. Now, I understand servers make their living off of tips, but if you're not doing a really good job, why would we tip you more than you deserve? Also, this wasn't my first time at Kaiser Tiger and I've noticed that this particular server is keen on making mistakes. The first time I went, the bf and I sat down and even before our actual server came around, this gentleman came to us with a beer and set it down...ummm..we didn't even order anything much less just sit down at the table?! And no--it wasn't a complimentary beer..he legitimately thought we had ordered it. We were all outraged, but didn't say anything because we were all in shock--it wasn't until after we were outside that we had that "wait---what the hell just happened" moment. We had our rehearsal dinner in the Skyline Lounge which is upstairs from the main bar/restaurant. We worked with Alex who was very responsive and helpful. She made sure that we had everything we needed. We had a large group for our rehearsal dinner and they were able to accommodate all our guests. The food and drink packages are reasonably priced and everything was delicious. The space was perfect. We would highly recommend hosting any even at Kaiser Tiger. read more

Cannot believe the level of service last night. A group of us were so excited to take our friend's mom out last night, and our server (who wore sweat pants) made the night awful. First we were given plastic water cups whilst nearby tables received pint glasses. Didn't greet us and made us wait 6 mins before coming for a drink order. When my friend asked for a brown ale recommendation, he went "oh i dunno" and laughed. He was noticeably annoyed when we were unsure about our orders. Failed to refill our plastic 3oz water cups. Asked for the paddy long salad, and was given the sandwich. I would've said something, however one person in our party didn't even receive his meal until we were all half way finished. Our server didn't apologize, or make any effort to amend the situation. He saw I barely touched my sandwich, asked if i didn't like it, then proceeded to scoff at my response. Kaiser Tiger has a great selection of beers on draft and the food they serve is more pub-style, i.e. sausages, wings, fries, a random gigantic beef-bacon thing. I went twice during my stay in Chicago and the first time I got the Beef-Bacon hot dog in a pretzel bun and the second time I got their Kaiser Burger. The Hot Dog was really good and I loved the pickles and onions that were on top - wish it came with some extra pickles, they are sweet and delicious. The burger was decent. They have a local habanero hot sauce, I can't remember the name of it, but it added a nice smokey spice to my burger that I liked a lot. The fries here are great too! I would recommend the cajun dipping sauce with them, it adds a nice kick. My server, Georgina, was super sweet and helpful in picking out beers. She brought me a few tasters of beers before I picked a pint, and showed me all their newest beers they had. Not only can you get a pint, but you can buy smaller sizes, like a 5oz, as well if you desire a taster with a full glass. Georgina was very personable and genuine when giving her recommendations. The beers are a good price and this is an awesome place to go with a friend or alone, plus they have a few games inside and outside of the place. The only thing that I don't reaaaally enjoy is how pricey it can get. The sausage and the burger were both $12 and it doesn't come with a side. A small side of fries is $3, which can be shared with a friend, and the first dipping sauce is free and every one after that is an additional cost. I didn't look over the appetizers too much, but those were on the higher end as well. We went to this place before the hawks game tonight and had a lot of fun. We took the free shuttle to the game where the driver told us he would pick us back up as soon as the game was over. Us, along with 20+ people were waiting for the shuttle for 30ish minutes. when I decided to call and ask where the shuttle was, The person who answered the phone was very rude and said they weren't doing any more shuttles for the evening...so I informed him I would tell the 20+ people waiting that they were done and he hung up on me. If you're going to run a free shuttle to and from the untied center your drivers should be more clear on when and how many times they will be picking up after the game. Very disappointed since this isn't the first time I've been to Kaiser tiger and this has never happened. read more

Everything about this place was fine- nice interior, good food but the service was so obnoxiously bad that I just can't give it any more than 2 stars. I was recently there for a semi-private party in the upstairs area and they had 2 bartenders working. Almost every person at the party independently made a comment about how the bartenders were not only completely inattentive but also deliberately rude. They made sure to finish their conversations and take their time getting to their actual jobs while multiple people were waiting for drinks. With so many other awesome places in Chicago, there is no point going to a place where the staff appear inconvenienced by your presence. read more

Our group of 10 had a table for a Hawk's game (on a Wed) and shockingly enough, it was not too crowded! Most of our table ordered an entree + fries and tried their wide selection of beer. I am a cocktail drinker so this was not the ideal place for me (there are only THREE listed on the menu). I ordered the Chicken Sammwich which was less than spectacular. The meat was dry and the bun became soggy by the time I was 1/4 of the way through. I will say that I had a bite of the "beer + brat" and it was much better than the sandwich--I can't tell if it's because I had orderer's remorse or not. The fries were pretty good but the dipping sauces made them better (except the chunky consistency of the garlic aioli was a bit questionable). Our waitress was attentive and there were several times we grabbed another waitress and they had no qualms helping us. The place is also quite big w/separate areas for dining, bar, ping pong, outdoor patio, etc. This would be a good place for people who are big into beer & wieners =P read more

This is a review for Kaiser Tiger as a wedding/event space. We were one of the first handful of weddings the venue held last May and we had a great experience, and I'm sure they will only get smoother as time goes by. We wanted to avoid hotel venues and were looking for a more urban space that reflected our love of the city. We also didn't want to break the bank. KT fit the bill on both accounts. It's an old elevator factory (and has the the second or third oldest operating elevator in Chicago). The views of the city skyline from the upstairs event space bar are what sold us. Go there in daytime and evening - the room and view looks different each time. The location is perfect for people staying downtown or coming from the suburbs. Street parking is do-able but we didn't want our guests having to drive around hunting. KT will contract out for parking which was an additional fee. We gladly paid it, but it's something to factor into the cost. Tracy worked with us to create a great evening that started with cocktails and appetizers on the patio, the ceremony in the West Wing, and a dinner and dancing upstairs in the Skyline room. It was nice to have three different areas to move to throughout the evening. The staff even helped us get someone to dress up in full tiger gear to make an appearance during the dancing. Best part of the whole evening! I can say that Tracy literally came through with everything she had promised that evening. There wasn't one detail thing that I could say was ignored or shortchanged. It was so nice not having to worry about everything going smoothly. The staff busted their butts making sure all our guests were taken care of and several of my friends later commented on how great they were. We had 145 people total for a sitdown buffet dinner which was tight. We had to strike two tables after dinner to make room for the dance floor. I wouldn't have minded in my 20s, but our friends were all in their 30s and older and I felt a little bad about their losing their seats. However, the staff did if smoothly and I don't think anyone minded. One wing of the room that had the most tables (about 8), got really loud and it was hard to have a conversation at the tables. The best size would be 125 for the Skyline room. This would give you the space and comfort to best enjoy this terrific space. Bottom line is that you won't find a non-hotel space like this in the city for the price. Get in while you can. read more

Cool spot. It would be a great option for before or after an event at the United Center or if you were generally in the area. I would say it's right on the boundary of being a little too far away from the Loop for drinks after work or even a work event. They have a great and diverse beer list. Prices are reasonable but because of the options available, at least while I was there, they could be considered high by some. Not a lot of PBR or Coors on draft, so over $6 is the average. But if you want to try some things you don't see all that often, even at other beer centric bars, this is a good spot. Food was just o.k.. My Bison sausage was tasty but a little dry. I had a bite of my friends Bomb Sandwich and it was also a little on the dry side. Flavors were tasty though and portions are decent to large, especially the fries. I had a hard time finding something on their menu that I wanted to eat. Please understand, I was here with a large party and we were all first timers. We came on a Saturday night, and eight of us had no problem getting a table (weird for a "gastropub" on Randolph street). Most of our party came for the craft beer menu. Our server was great, but when I ordered a sidecar he didn't know what it was. When we did order, the food came out a little too soon in my opinion. I like meat, I eat pretty much everything, but I found myself a little disgusted by the menu. I had hard time finding something I wanted to eat. Everything was sausage, meat, or meat wrapped in meat. I had the garlic shrimp as my entree, but I don't see how three pieces of shrimp equal the same cost as their "bomb" sandwich. This sandwich was grossly over peppered, a cross between a meatball and some burger wrapped in bacon. At least their fries are good. To me, their portions are way off. Sometimes you don't know whether to expect a full plate or a small one, and all the prices are pretty much the same. read more

We had the reception upstairs in their Skyline Room which has a beautiful view of the city. The food was great. The bar package was the best we had seen. The price was reasonable. First, Kaiser Tiger is not just a a restaurant, it's truly an event space and I can't wait to check out their beer garden once the weather gets nice! Holding our event during the day was perfect for Kaiser Tiger because they don't open until late afternoon, we had our choice of space and the entire first floor to ourselves. The event planner, Tracy, has tons of industry experience and does not let any details fall by the wayside. We went to tour the space before committing and discuss our set-up options, which was very helpful. Concerning the menu, Kaiser Tiger has tons of options that fit everyone's needs. Although they specialize in the beer and bacon categories, all of the food we had was great. I highly recommend the garlic hummus and bacon wrapped dates to start. For lunch, our huge spread included several of their sausages, all tasty, and a "Bomb." This flavorful dish is sliced and made into sandwiches. This was a huge hit amongst my coworkers. Kaiser Tiger takes a lot of pride in their handcut fries and brought them out on trays with their various dipping sauces for the group. These are a must-order, the perfect side to go with your bacon and beer. Our holiday party activity involved working with a company that rents casino tables, dealers, and all necessary materials. This concept worked great at Kaiser Tiger because the side room had more than enough space for our seven casino tables. This place is the TRUTH. Grabbed a spot on the sidewalk patio with some pals and went nuts. First off, any place that places a strong emphasis on encased meat is okay in my book, but there were plenty surprises. Each of their sausages is boutique-built and the variety is awesome. We had the chicken muchacho, a killer "deconstruction" of Mexican street food flavor, the Justin Bieber, a "white brat" (super tasty emulsified white sausage) and the "beer and bacon" is just as it promises. On top of that, the apps and sides are legit too. We started with the bacon-wrapped shrimp, which sat on a fried "latke" of grits and their hand-cut Belgian fries. For me, hand cut fries are the king of spuds and this place does them better than anyone. Don't even get me started on the dipping sauces. So f*cking good. On to the beer- what can you say? This place boasts an ever-changing selection of the best US craft and import available in this market. Period. Wait a week and its a whole new expirience. Awesome. Came to Kaiser Tiger after a long day for some drinks and food and they did not disappoint. A group of us sat on the patio and had a hard time picking from their beer list. I like hoppy beers and Kaiser has quite a few to choose from. They are in the process of getting their license to open a beer garden with even more outdoor seating, which will be a great addition. As far as the food, I wasn't sure what to expect from the sausage menu, but I tried the Satchmo Sausage and it was tons of Cajun goodness wrapped in a casing. No. We went here 2 weekends ago after the July Randolph Street Market. We made a mistake coming here. We checked yelp and saw that it was new and that the overall rating was roughly 4 stars so we gave it a shot. Our server was awesome, I apologize for not knowing her name. It was just that the food was so disappointing. We started with the currywurst and the bacon bombs. The currywurst was the best thing we ate. The bacon bombs were not good. There really wasn't much flavor and there was too much breading. The taste was lost on me. I then tried another bomb and again, this one was a dud. It basically was presented like a marquee item- the Bomb is a slab of sausage wrapped in bacon with pepper jack cheese on a bun. This was just awful. I rarely complain about a meal to a server but this was terrible. It was so dry, you couldn't even cut it. The only thing I could taste was the pepper jack cheese because it was so dry and bland. Our server was quick to comp the Bomb. The bf got a goat cheese salad or something like that and said that wasn't good either. The belgian fries were good, but the regular is enough for 2 people. We didn't really try any of the beers because the one I wanted to try they were out of... I'm a little concerned about this place. It's in a huge space in an area that is spotty with foot traffic, etc and... the food isn't up to par, and is overpriced. Even with the comped entree we spent about $50 for nothing. Came here for brunch for my sister-in law's birthday and was not impressed. The best part of our meal was the bacon wrapped dates but you cant really go wrong with those no matter where you order them. I had the Argentinian chorizo sausage with guacamole and my sister in law had the Shepard pie. The Chorizo had too much cumin and the guacamole desperately needed some citrus. Avoid this place for a business dinner, or anything serious, or if you want good food. We were five and sat on the east wall on a Monday night. It became moderately busy while we were there, but we were among the first for the dinner rush. The wait staff was good natured but completely sophomoric, as if the owner had drafted his college daughters that night. Food came out willy-nilly, and our server didn't know what went with which person, so she served from the end of the table, and we passed the food to the right people. And the owner's sons seemed to have been drafted in the kitchen ;~( - food was edible but completely forgettable. I had a "bomb" sandwich sans bun, and it seemed to be mediocre meatloaf wrapped in one strip of grocery store bacon. Iceberg lettuce and tasteless tomato on the plate. I ordered bacon vinegar dressing on a side salad, the dressing came out at the same time as the other salads, but without the salad, which finally appeared after the mains. I tried the fries, but they are highly over-rated; there are 13 kinds of sauces, but the guy who ordered them asked for ketchup. Beer was good but arrived hither and thither. The dining experience was comical, and all of us were good natured about it, but we were scratching out heads! The worst part was horrible acoustics; it was very hard to hear, even the person right next to you. Overall, I'd consider KT for beer but not food, and only if time were unimportant.
