The inside is decked out in lucky red and reminded me of those mom-n-pop Chinese restaurants of yore. There's a walk-up counter to place to-go orders. I ordered: Salt n pepper shrimp - I counted 14 head OFF shrimp with 60% onions, NO jalapenos for almost $17. The shrimp looked like the kind you find in a frozen bag at Costco - small and... shrimpy. I get this may be a bastardized version to appeal to the general demographic in Turlock, but I was not impressed. It's what made me write my review right away, I was so shocked by the small amount I got. Chicken chow mein - this was ordered at the counter for the SO after placing my original order over the phone. When he dug into it, it was 40% bean sprouts and barely any chicken, maybe 5 or 6 small pieces... Beef chow fun - same issue of overcompensating with hella bean sprouts. The beef wasn't velveted enough and a bit tough. Taste was fine. Chili oil spilled over in my to-go bag and didn't have much spice at all. All three entrees came in the leftover to-go sized boxes, totaling almost $50 after tax and tip. I understand inflation and all, but cannot justify returning due to the negative value for the amount of food received. It's unfortunate because the service is probably some of the best for a Chinese restaurant. Super friendly over the phone and just as friendly in-person. As Gordon Ramsay would say, "Damn. What a shame."

They seem to have a daily rotation of dishes, which is nice. This affordable price is personally what keeps us coming back for more, especially with everything getting so expensive in this current economy. Ambience: The restaurant is quite large and can accommodate a lot of guests. Buffet: Everything is kept clean and they are constantly checking the dishes to see if they need to be refilled or swapped with a fresh batch. The butter chicken and fish pakora are also delicious. They also ask what naan you'd like and I always order the garlic one. Keep in mind it's a bit of a wait as they make it fresh to order. The bread is so soft, fluffy, and flavorful The staff are highly friendly and observant. They always ensure we have enough water and I really appreciate it. I can't wait to come here for the dinner service and try the other dishes they have to offer from their standard menu.

The restaurant is beautifully decorated so that you feel like you are in India. The menu is extensive so you have so many choices. I recommend the pakora and the chicken biranyi. You have your choice of mild, medium, and spicy so you can enjoy your meal without worrying about the heat level. The portions are large so you'll have some to take home. The waiter was wonderful and helpful. I know that I'll definitely be back. They also do take-out that you can order on their website. Highly recommended for Indian food lovers.

Fast forward years later and GK Mongolian BBQ opens in Turlock. My husband tried it when it first opened and did enjoy it but for some reason we never went back. We were in the mood for going out but wanted something quick. We decided to give it a try. We were promptly greeted upon entering and told to go ahead and start our meal prep. Lots of choices of meats and fresh veggies. There are also a lot of sauces to choose from which can be overwhelming. They recommend one scoop of each but I say if you have a preference for certain ones then you do you! It is fun to watch your food be cooked in front of your eyes and presented to you as soon as it is ready. Our food tastes good and was reasonably priced. The service was good and the restaurant was clean. I don't think it will be on our regular rotation because my husband is not a fan of noodles in Asian cuisine but I would still say it's a solid choice.

Line for the grill cooks to cook your food was initially fast at 11am due to the low number of customers in the morning but approaching lunch hour. 12noon the line got extremely long and took 30 minites to get my food cooked. I enjoyed the sauces they had . The popular sauce appeared to be teriyaki and the lpbster sauxe. I had a great time and for 18 dollars, unlimited mongolian bbq, i will come again if i am in the area.

Just very disappointed since I was recommended that place by a friend.

This review has been drafted for a while and as I'm clearing my storage I reflected on our time here & it was memorable. The food was absolutely delicious! I enjoyed my steak, it was cooked to perfection. Mashed potatoes with gravy were amazing, & the sweet potato casserole was a great dessert. Only reason I held back on a 5 was that not everyone in my party had a great experience with their meals. The Mac & Cheese here is not ideal, it's missing some seasoning and more cheese. My hubby's ribs were overcooked but Ivan was quick to check in on us and correct our issues. The day we visited it was extremely packed and despite of that our server Ivan did a fabulous job checking in on us and we observed him helping many other customers all with a calming and friendly demeanor. It is very admirable to see someone maintain their composure when it's visibly chaotic from huge crowds. Great work, next time I'm in the area I will return.
