What I don't like is their garlic chicken, should be called, spicy garlic, chicken skin! There is rarely any pieces of chicken when I order this. I rarely order it because it has no chicken. I don't know why they call it garlic chicken. It's a deep fried chicken, skin and fat. Somebody should talk to the owner about this and start adding chicken to this dish. I like everything else at the restaurant the atmosphere and the cleanliness.But sometimes trying to go cheap on a chicken plate by not putting the chicken doesn't make any sense to me. I have to say this is one Chinese restaurant that I highly recommend anyone coming to. It is very difficult for me to give such high rating for a Chinese restaurant since they are "a dime a dozen". However, this place was a recommendation from someone at work. Interestingly, enough, I don't remember seeing one item that I ordered, even though it was served, "peking ribs". My friend and I went for the first time for dinner for my birthday. We had a great experience. Delicious food, and love how they display the menu under glass on each table. Quiet but family friendly, and served with kindness and explanations of the foods. Plus you can substitute one kind of rice for another. And generous amount of food as well. Decided to give this place a try since it's close by and my favorite Chinese place was closed that day. Just got take out so can't speak of the service other than they had my order ready when I arrived. I wasn't impressed with the food unfortunately. Growing up in Fresno, I remember my grandparents taking the entire family out to eat at Golden China. This would have been in the early 1980s. I went with my Mom for a Mother's Day lunch, and was not disappointed! I ordered the Kung Pao tofu, and it was honestly the best Chinese food meal I've ever had! The noodles were pan-fried, just like I remembered, the tofu was cooked well, and the veggies were excellent! My mom had the bean sprout chow mein, which is her go to meal. Food is very tasty with good sized portions. I love their lunchtime (before 3:30pm) they offer a variety of items! Place is a little on the older side, carpet all throughout the restaurant. Genius idea though to have menus placed under the glass top on each table, we always have a menu to look at and we don't need to touch it! The ladies at the counter are also friendly and quick to serving incoming customers, tending and cleaning tables. I have been here in the past and typically enjoy it, however after my experience tonight I will not be going back. We ordered sweet and sour pork and orange chicken. The majority of both items were fried batter with no meat inside. The orange chicken had a strong flavor of soy sauce and tasted nothing like orange. That being said, the chow mein and war wonton soup were both good. When it came time to pay I noticed the bill was substantially more than it should have been, upon asking for a breakdown of the receipt we noticed that none of the pricing on the menu was correct and for each dish it actually cost $3-5 more. She comes back with the water and she's like order now and my boyfriend said we were still looking over the menu and she walked away and was like "Oh come on" .
