I have mild Plantar Fasciitis and finding the right shoe can be quite tricky. For years I had been getting all my shoes at Converse (thinking no support was the best for my circumstances) and my visits were short. I knew what isle to go to and what size I needed. The biggest part of my choice was the color. Anywho. Fast forward to my visit to the Brea Mall in July of 2023. I went to Journey's, Foot Locker, and The Finish Line inside of Macy's. Each visit was HORRIBLE. Little to no customer service. I had to go and ask for help or shoes to try on. Asking about the shoes got me shoulder shrugs and "I don't know" answers. So my recent visit (September 20th, 20223) was a shocker! I came in with the very low expectation of sub par customer service. My first was visit was at The Finish Line, since that was where I found my most recent pair of shoes. Fortunately, the shoe I wanted was no longer in stock and the customer service was a tad better than the previous but nothing to warrant my business. Subsequently I walked into Shoe Palace which happened to be adjacent to my exit. I went in apprehensively thinking my experience would be anything less than desirable. Immediately, I was greeted with a huge smiling face and help was offered. "Ana" (Anayeli), would be my hero for the evening. I told her I was looking for something that had little arch support and something that wasn't too narrow. Off like a canon, she spouted out a suggestion and walked me over to the shoe wall. She pointed out 3 types and I asked if I could try on 2 of the 3. There she went again, like a bolt of lighting! She raced back and handed me the shoes to try. With the right amount of timing she came back and checked on me. I told her I was just curious to see how the 3rd shoe option felt. POOF! She was gone and back in an instant with the shoe. From now on Shoe Palace has my business going forward! I might be a little spoiled with Ana's super great customer service and hustle. Can I call and ask for her prior to my visit? HAHAHA. ... but seriously though, can I? Shoe Palace! You have a rockstar on your hands, commend her to the highest praise!

As you walked in, there are two signs advertising "Buy online for fast and easy pickups." Unfortunately, my experience was anything but fast or easy. I asked a cashier where to go for online pickup, and she directed me to a checkout line that extended all the way to the back of the store and appeared to have at least 75 people waiting, most of whom were making regular in-store purchases. I got in line, but remembered that on previous visits there had been an employee specifically handling online pickups. I decided to ask another cashier if someone was handling online orders. She was very kind and understanding and said she would ask the manager, Cynthia. I explained that I was frustrated about having to wait in such a long line just to pick up an order I had already purchased online. I was told I would still need to wait in line because Cynthia would go through the queue and process online orders in order. I said that was completely fine and I returned to the line. I was the second person in line who was there solely for an online pickup. Cynthia left to the back of the store to retrieve our orders. About 10 minutes later, I noticed that she had returned to the register assisting customers in line, yet had both of our online orders sitting in a basket behind her. This is where the experience became especially frustrating. Cynthia walked right past us on her way back to the registers but left us standing in the long checkout line, even though she had already retrieved our orders. I eventually had to ask another employee to get my order so I could leave. Only then did Cynthia take the other customer's order to her, after that customer had also been left waiting in line. I completely understand that stores get busy and employees have a lot to manage. What I don't understand is why customers who had already paid for their orders online were left standing in a huge checkout line when our orders had already been retrieved and were literally sitting behind the register. The cashier who initially helped me was kind and professional, and I appreciate her trying to help. My frustration is specifically with how the manager handled the situation. If Nordstrom Rack advertises "fast and easy pickups," I think customers should reasonably expect an online pickup to be handled differently from a regular purchase checkout. This was neither fast nor easy, and the way the manager handled it made the situation much more frustrating than it needed to be.

I don't know how he did it but I wasn't questioning the process! While trying on the NB sneakers the same staff member brought me a pair of cream colored Brooks sneakers in my size!
