I'm embarrassed by how overdue this review is. Rick Kaitz at Kaitz construction is the best contractor you will ever work with and there is no reason for you to talk to anyone else. He is so great, he is occasionally booked 6 months in advance, so if you think you might be starting, call him now. Rick did the below construction himself for us (with a couple helpers): Opened up an interior wall between our kitchen and dining room. Replaced rotted exterior wall Replaced a window with a wall (at our request). Installed new support beams for front porch overhang And organized the below for us as Project Manager/General Contractor: Exterior Stucco Complete Removal and Replacement of whole house Replaced all Windows Replaced Exterior Doors and 1 interior Door Full Roof Replacement with addition of Attic Fan and Vents Re-Finished Drywall in two rooms and patched areas as needed due to changes in window sizes He even coordinated/worked with a concrete contractor I had a previous relationship with who I had pouring us a new driveway, walkway, and resurfacing our porch. Painting and woodwork repair on exterior of the house. Suffice it to say, we had a LOT going on all at once and it would not have been possible without Rick's help. We hired Rick as a dual Project Manager and a Contractor. There were some jobs he completed himself and then areas he subbed out to others were as if he had done them. Rick handled all of the pricing negotiations and scheduling and all I had to do was pick out the materials I wanted and Rick took care of everything else. It was so nice to just have one responsive contact who knew everything about what I wanted. There were a lot of different people doing a lot of different things at our house and I never had any issues with any of them. Periodically, Rick would call or text me with updates or questions but I had so much faith I wasn't even home for most of it. We had our dog and cat at the house during the construction and the days the crew needed access to the inside of the house, Rick gave me advanced notice and had the crew always leave me at least one "safe room" for me to be in with the animals. During the project, I also never had to clean up any dust or trash around the jobsite. There was plenty mess made, but at the end of each day, Rick had the crew do around and do a full clean-up. There were days I'd come from work and find Rick himself sweeping and picking up trash. I didn't hire him to clean my house and was not expecting it, but that is just one example of how he showed how much he respected our home. As far as decisions on the house are concerned, my husband and I agreed a long time ago that I'm in charge (which I know is just because it means he doesn't have to deal with any of it, lol.). Over the years, I have had difficulty with different contractors and service professionals who I've had to repeatedly tell that I was in charge and to stop asking for my husband when I answered the door or phone. This was never an issue with Rick. From day 1, he never talked down to me or treated me any different than if/when he was talking to my husband. All of the subs and crew he brought to our house followed his lead which made me feel secure and empowered during the whole process. I also think it is an important quality to note that Rick is not a "yes" man. He is experienced and communicates his knowledge in a welcome and helpful way. He made sure I was positive about everything I wanted before moving forward to save me from regrets down the line. For an example, when we were discussing the above described window to wall replacement, before moving forward, he had me completely block out the window with cardboard for a couple of weeks before making the final change in order for me to see what the difference would be with how much light came in during the day and how the room looked in general without there being a window. I could keep going on and on about Rick's greatness, but really writing more would just be taking time away when instead of reading about my experiences, you should be calling him and enjoying the pleasure of working with him yourself.

    Garage re-do with epoxy floors.

We hired Kaitz Construction to do a garage remodel, which involved, electrical, plumbing, framing, drywalling, replacing doors, painting, an epoxy floor, and cabinet installation. It turned out great, and working with Rick was a pleasure. We really appreciated that he would keep us apprised of what was going to happen each day. He was great about answering questions, whether in person, by text, or even email. He adapted to our schedule requirements. His subcontractors are top-notch. Both Rick and some of his subs are good problem solvers and were able to fix or find to good work arounds to some of the existing weirdness in our home's framing, plumbing, and electrical systems. Recommended!

    Original, very narrow master bath

My husband first found Rick on yelp and we scheduled a time to discuss our remodel project. He thoughtfully listened to our ideas and shared some practical next steps to consider regarding engineering and permitting. He did, however, tell us that he was too busy to take on our large project. We appreciated his honesty. A few months later, after deciding to not proceed with a different contractor, we called Rick back. Fortunately, at that time, he had the availability to work with us. All in all, we have now remodeled the majority of our house with him and could not recommend him more highly. He is very hard-working and easy to communicate with. He has always been great about keeping us in the loop. Additionally, he gave us insightful feedback as to whether various changes would be worth the labor/materials cost to make the modification (like moving a bedroom room or adding a pocket door). He is an excellent sounding board and his creative ideas ended up greatly enhancing our master bathroom to give us more useable space. Also, his various subs are hand-picked and do excellent work. We did have two issues (relating to a door installation and later granite installation, both of which were with Rick's recommended vendors) that popped up along the way. Rick was very proactive to resolve the situation quickly and to our satisfaction. Also, we really appreciated that he was always very open to questions, giving billing break downs, etc. We even joke that he's become part of our family because we enjoyed working with him so much. He does book out several months in advance, so call early if you're considering a project. If we do any more projects, we would work with Rick again in a heartbeat. He did an amazing job. We are delighted to give Rick and Kaitz Construction a five star review!

My husband and I embarked on our first kitchen remodel project this year. We had heard stories from friends and family who had done their own remodel projects and were warned to expect whatever project timeline estimate the Contractor gives you, double it! A remodel will always take longer than what the Contractor tells you. We were referred to Rick Kaitz and started the process with a detailed sit-down meeting of what we wanted to accomplish in our kitchen. Rick took these ideas and came back with an estimate on cost and time for completion. What I appreciated most were expectations were set up-front. If we could promise to have all products ordered and ready to go in our garage, the project would take 6-8 weeks to complete. Mind you, our "kitchen" remodel had quite a bit of project scope creep when we decided to add hardwood floors and recessed lighting to entire first floor and bedrooms. Rick was amazing! Not what I expected from the typical Contractor type that I had heard about from friends. My husband and I both manage teams and global projects in our daily work lives. Bottom line, we are detail people and we were lucky enough to find a contractor who cares just as much about the details as we do. Rick was onsite each work day to ensure the caliber of work being performed was to his standard. He managed the project timeline with plumbers, electricians, floor installers, window installers, and city inspectors with an iron fist. Whatever needed to happen, Rick was on top of it. He started each day with a report of the tasks he expected to complete that day and ended each day with a report back on actual completion. His communication style is clear and concise. If something came up unexpected in the project (which it will), he was always prepared with providing alternate solutions as a work-around and giving us the cost/benefit of each scenario. It's six weeks later and my kitchen is complete and stunning! I would highly recommend Rick's services to others and would definitely use him again when we're ready for our bathroom remodel.

Owning an older home comes with inevitable surprises, so we wanted a team who could problem-solve creatively. That's where Liran shined. We brought some ideas to the table, and he offered alternative solutions that made far more sense for how we live--solutions we loved. Designers were brought in to prepare plans and permits, and the work began. Our project manager, Adi, was one of the kindest, most attentive people I've ever worked with. He stayed in constant contact, visited the site frequently, and ensured every detail met extremely high standards. It became a running joke between us about changing their slogan to "quality you can afford"--he humored me, and it perfectly captures the team's approach. The craftsmanship from Flavio, the lead contractor, was exceptional. We didn't pick the easiest designs, but the finished primary bathroom shower tile is genuinely a work of art--everyone who sees it comments on it. We also can't forget "Muscle Memo", who handled all the heavy lifting--climbing through dusty attics, crawling under grimy crawl spaces, and tackling the toughest physical work. His effort made the project run smoothly and safely. Adding to the charm, the team brought their own portable bathroom, which hilariously became a little local attraction--neighbors and passersby would sometimes "need to go," and we all shared a laugh over it. LB went above and beyond by addressing problem areas that weren't part of the original scope, with no extra charge, just to ensure the house looked perfect. They even brought in a professional cleaning crew, leaving our home cleaner than when the project started--a rare and deeply appreciated touch. We are thrilled with the entire LB team and highly recommend them. They hit that sweet spot: exceptional craftsmanship, thoughtful problem-solving, genuine care, a sense of humor, and high quality at a price we could afford. Truly impressive from start to finish.

Professionalism: The team at Your Carpenter Friend was professional, meticulous, and clean, and they did an excellent job repairing dry rot around our home. They were so good that we've already recommended them to a couple of friends, and I hope they get the opportunity to work with them as well. Licensed: Yes Pricing: Pricing was reasonable and on par with other vendors we considered. Recommendation: Yes--100% recommend them. We plan to hire them again next year for additional work in the spring/summer, and I'll be happy to update this review then. Skill: They are truly skilled carpenters (Brendan, Zach, and Sam), which feels rare these days. While I don't do woodworking myself, I can certainly recognize and appreciate quality craftsmanship. In several areas, Zach and Sam came up with creative solutions to ensure water would not sit on the wood. They also discovered additional dry rot during the project and always consulted with us and obtained approval before proceeding. They worked non-stop--even in the cold! Work: I initially contacted Brendan for a mix of handyman work along with exterior dry rot repairs. He was honest and upfront about what could realistically be done during the dry season, so we decided to focus solely on the dry rot repairs. As it turned out, Brendan is a former termite inspector--perfect for anyone needing dry rot repair. They worked at our home for 3 days. There was one small area that wasn't painted on one side; once we brought it to his attention, Brendan came back the very next day to fix it. Their goal is clearly to make the customer happy, within reason. BTW -- he also does decks. Thank you, Brendan & Team!

He and his guys completed the job on schedule and on budget, which sadly seems like a rarity these days. The bedroom issues were easily resolved, but the bathroom is where they really succeeded. Not only was the mold wiped and removed, the surrounding tile grout was scrubbed and shiny like new. A nice touch by these guys. After a weekend of dehumidifying Frank took air samples in each affected room and sent them to an independent lab. All the tests passed with flying colors. I would recommend DiBlasi Restoration in a heartbeat. Frank has been at this for several successful decades and is righteously confident in his methods and protocols.
