Did we drive 2 and a half hours to come to this Kofusion? Yes. Yes we did. Did we regret it? Not one bit. This spicy Korean chicken is our absolute favorite. Graduating from U of I has been disheartening as that means I am further away from this place. They're always so nice and quick to service. It wasn't busy or crowded at all. The environment was just as I remembered. Thank you KoFusion!

    Spicy Korean Wings w/Udon Noodles

I went on a tour of the University of Illinois today and afterwards, my son and I decided to stop in for sushi. The first thing I noticed is how modern the facility was and how clean it was. When we walked in, there was a self-serve kiosk and it was extremely easy to navigate. I love the fact that there was a description of each dish and a photograph to help making our decisions a little easier. After looking at our options, my son decided to have the Korean BBQ wings with udon noodles. He loved the wings and I loved the noodles although they were a bit too spicy for my taste. If they were a little less spicy, this would have been the perfect comfort food for me. I love that they had a tasting plate for the sushi so I was able to try each of the $1 sushi. We ordered eight pieces and devoured it quickly. We ended up ordering another platter of sushi. I don't typically like sushi with cheese, so the creamy roll was not my favorite. The Cali and spicy crab were both good, but the Coco roll put them all to shame. It was amazing! If I'm ever in a place where this restaurant is, I would definitely go back, order the Coco rolls and a side of the udon noodles. This was a very good lunch!

KoFusion is incredible. The ambiance is great, very high end, food is wonderful. We ordered vegan style: bibimbap, veggie dumplings, shiitake veggie maki... all were amazing. Food reviews below! Veggie dumplings 9/10 - Great portion size, 5 dumplings for $6, deep fried, crispy and delicious. Perfect to share and stuffed with yummy tofu. Bibimbap 10/10 - So good! Crispy rice, delicious tofu, mushrooms. Definitely recommend. Shiitake Maki 8/10 - Pretty good. Too much rice for my liking, would of preferred more mushroom and less rice. I love getting it deep fried though, it made it so good! Overall would recommend this place for delicious japanese food with great vegan options!

Really good sushi and the vibe is very cute and clean. They don't have as many options as their downtown location but the stuff they do have is really good! their dollar sushi is definitely worth it and all the pieces are so good, i'd recommend the sampler find you favorites. I really like the all of them but my favorite are creamy, coco and spicy crab. For regular rolls if recommend the Chicago roll or the white dragon. I will agree with other reviewers however that this place is expensive and the sushi pieces r on the smaller end, I usually only come for the dollar sushi, as like a snack.

Very clean and really nice employees! The cashier was knowledgeable about the dishes and made sure I didn't pick a dish that had ingredients I was allergic to, and was patient about me taking some time to pick something that wouldn't kill me lol. Also, the food was really yummy and pretty!

Great option for a quick lunch. The $ 1 dollar menu is great for trying a wide variety of sushis. My recommendation are: Rainbow Roll Crab, avocado and cucumber topped with tuna, salmon and yellow tail. Dumplings 5 pieces of deep fried tofu (soy protein with pork flavor), leek, cabbage, onion, green onion, and noodle dumplings. Served with our signature dumpling sauce. Ko Fusion is for the students and by the students. It's conveniently located right next to an apartment complex on campus and its employees are composed of college students. The whole environment exudes a very simple and clean style. The food is quite fantastic. The stir fry is superb and the sushi is delicious. Its major fault is that it's definitely too expensive. The specialty rolls go from $13-$15 for 8 rolls and the rolls are smaller than other sushi places. However, they have a unique "create your own sushi" menu item for $9 for 8 rolls. This place would be perfect if the main entrees were $2 cheaper.

I always get an urge to swerve into ko fusion when I'm on campus. An order of the creamy rolls always satisfies. Good rolls, friendly folk and a very clean place. Going back soon! Ps. Somebody needs to return the sweet bondage pic that was stolen from the men's room wall.

Update: A manager contacted me and has taken care of the issue and says they will be conducting the curbside service correctly here on out. He also sufficiently responded monetarily. I'll be very happy to still frequent KoFusion! I'm so sad to leave this review. KoFusion has been one of my favorites for awhile. I will miss it terribly. Let me start by saying that I am incredibly patient and generous especially during the COVID-19 crisis. I gladly wait longer, I'm extra friendly, I tip much higher than usual (and I've never been a stingy tipper). This last week I had a spinal procedure done which has me in heightened pain and unable to walk even short distances. I was so excited to see that KoFusion on campus was offering curbside pickup. They're near my office and I go there whenever I get a sushi craving. I placed my order and verified the curbside pickup instructions. When I arrived at the stated time, I parked where I was instructed and called the number that the instructions said to do. I had to go through a couple automated prompts but then reached an employee inside the restaurant. I said that I was there to pickup curbside for "my name". He said "Oh yeah, just come inside and pick it up." I explained that I had specifically chose curbside so I wouldn't have to walk inside. He said "There's a table in here that the orders are on. Just come in real quick and grab it." I didn't feel like arguing would help so I got out of the car and walked to the doors right by the specified parking which is also the door I would normally use when I pick up lunch. It was locked. So I had to go around the building, deal with steps, and then go inside on that side and get my order. It was packaged nicely, and of course it was delicious as always. That's why I'm giving this review 2 stars instead of 1. I know it sounds silly to be complaining about having to walk less than a block to get my food. The point is I specifically ordered from a place that offered curbside so I wouldn't have to strain my spine and legs. I was very disappointed by the way it was handled.

A-OK is the perfect way to describe this place. The sushi is not amazing, but it's good. The service is so-so. The prices are a bit higher than I'd like to pay for what I'm getting... Apart from the food, the place is pretty clean. Not that this matters that much, but the music here is always on point. Props to whoever is deejaying @ Ko-Fusion... Your playlist is on point!

However, the quality of food here does not seem to justify the price point set at Ko Fusion. The menu reflects the fusion aspect of the restaurant. Ko Fusion offers an entire Japanese sushi menu, along with various stir fries, curries, ramen and even Korean BBQ on certain nights. From the multiple visits I have had here, I would not say that they stand at the top in any cuisine, the food is relatively average. First things first, paying over $20 for a single sushi roll is one of my least favorite dining experiences out there. With restaurants charging a little more for an all you can eat experience or even doing buy one get one deals, the sushi roll has to be really, really good to make it worth it. I did not feel that way here at Ko Fusion. In fact, I felt that Flaming Phoenix Roll was good at best and when I finished, I was still starving. I do think there is an effort to import quality ingredients and do a nice job with presentation, but I was definitely not satisfied. On my next visit, I wanted to order a dish as it would hopefully fill me up more. I ordered their Bul Go Kee and at $32 dollars, I was really was hoping it would be a standout dish. The food was alright, but again, could not justify the price point set for the dish. Not only that, I am looking back on the menu and realize that I never got the lettuce wrap portion of the meal. The beef itself had some decent flavor and was tender, so it at least wasn't a bad dish. I just was left feeling like I did not get my money's worth. Would I recommend this place for nicer occasions? I guess so. However, I would go so far to make this your go-to Japanese or Korean spot, places that specialize in those cuisines would likely give you a better bang for your buck.

The name itself is deceiving because they offer mostly Japanese types of items like bento boxes, udon, sushi, and what not. I was genuinely not impressed with their menu selection and was very sad to see their Korean items go. It's not as great as they used to be. To be honest, I'm shocked their still in business with how much their menu has changed. They have some decent deals for lunch combos, but other than that I don't know if it's worth going there. I'm sad to say but it's not a "Korean bowl." They need to change the name to J-Bowl to appropriately describe the current menu items they now offer.

Then you fill out a paper that lists all the ingredients. Easy and convenient. The medium sized bowls were way bigger than I expected and the fish was fresh with large portion sizes. Quality place. Hubby said "That's the freshest fish I had lately, we should bring that guy back with us to Peoria, except then he would start serving the crappy fish they got down there" Yeah...He's a little sushi jaded since our trip to Japan. I guess they serve other things besides poke here but I didn't really see another menu. The ambiance is pretty sterile with water as your only drinking option.
