We didn't feel pressured to purchase certain add-ons for the glasses. We added the anti-glare because honestly it was a great deal. I really liked the glasses we chose. They are Harley Davidson. They are the ones that framed his face, and looked the best. We spent way less than expected. They were able to squeeze us in the next day, and schedule an appointment for our son the following week. So glad I found this office! I've been unhappy with my optometrist for years - I checked my VSP website and saw Dr. Kajioka listed, I was able to request an appointment through the website right then! Afterwards, I got a text message confirming my appointment. I like when places use tech for customer service - when it's done right, this office has it down! I saw Nicole K. Antonio, O.D., she was very friendly, down to earth and she knows her stuff! She spotted a concern on my tests and referred me to an ophthalmologist at Kaiser (my health insurance provider). Her front office staff is on top of paperwork and claims so I knew right away what would be covered, no surprises. I have been going to Dr Kajioka for at least 10yrs. One experience I'm most grateful for is a time I scratched my cornea and Dr Kajioka saw me immediately! He flushed my eye, put in numbing drops and a contact lens. Immediate relief!!! No more pain or patches. I've had this problem before but never had immediate solution. Everyone is very friendly here. They also make appointments so easy and convenient and will schedule your yearly exams automatically. The doctor is always willing to answer any questions or concerns and the they walk you through your insurance coverage for glasses and contacts. My husband found Dr. Kajioka online while researching optometrists that take our insurance. The office staff was friendly and able to get in us in the next day. Since we both needed to go, they were able to get us in at the same time, which was awesome. Our appointment was for 3 and there was literally no wait time. Everyone we had contact with was friendly and efficient. Insurance billing was explained to us in detail and there were no hidden fees or surprise extras. Dr. K. was amazing. He was so funny and had a way of putting his patients at ease. You could tell that he is genuinely liked by all of the people coming in to his office. The staff were friendly but I can't say the same for the Dr. He was in the room with me maybe 10min at the most. I"m pretty sure he never checked my close up vision himself. He must've relied on the machine that does that before he sees you. He only had me look through 3 lenses for the whole exam,. He said 1 was my current lens for distance, 1 was stronger for distance, and the other weaker for distance. I've worn bifocals for years. My close up vision is poor without glasses. What happened to him checking it? Normally that's part of an eye exam. Definitely not a very good eye exam. Definitely not thorough either and didn't explain anything. Also charged me $80 for a test that my other eye Dr did himself and didn't charge for. I had the option not to do it but I'm nearly blind in 1 eye as a result of a botched surgery, so I thought it was important to have it done since I only use 1 eye to see. I'm sure he billed my insurance for a full eye exam which I didn't receive. I also thought he was rude and sarcastic. I won't go back to him! read more

I found Dr. Kajioka on Yelp and the 5 star average is definitely well deserved! The office is clean, the staff is friendly, and Dr. Kajioka is helpful and pretty funny. He took the time to explain what was going on with my eyes without being too clinical about it and told me the type of glasses I'd need. Their selection of glasses is also quite large and the staff member helping me select my frames didn't seem to mind the fact that I seemed to want to try on 100 different pairs haha! On I ordered them, my glasses also came in pretty quickly (just about a week, maybe a day or so less...) I'd definitely recommend Dr. Kajioka's office to anyone needing their eyes checked! read more

Friendly staff, but I had to go back 4 times to get my prescription corrected because the glasses did not come out correctly. With that being said I got a refund but I should have not been charge a restocking fee when it was not my fault that the glasses did not work out. I have been to many places in Modesto for Eye exams. The reason I have skipped around a lot is mostly for inefficiencies at the offices. Many locations that I went to in the past have taken two hours or more of total appointment time. I actually had one of the bigger ones in Modesto forget that I was in their office and called my house and spoke to my wife to ask where I went! I was in the middle of being shuffled from room to room! My wife said he should be in the office, epic fail. This is just unacceptable. And it was wait times at every step in the process, from waiting area to pre-exam room to optometrist exam room. A lot of times then you go to another room to wait for someone to "fit" your contact lenses. Another thing that really bothers me about most optometry offices in town is the obvious attempt to upsell you on contact lenses that make more money for the practice. I am very tuned into when I'm being "up sold" and it doesn't make me very happy when profits come before patient comfort. If I am paying more for a contact lens,that's fine, if the contact lens works better and is better for my eyes. However to be coerced to buy a contact lens that doesn't feel as good as something that you've had in the past is wrong. I will mention no names :) Now that I got that off my chest... let me just say that my experience at Dr. Kajioka's office was GREAT. I waited about 10 minutes in the waiting room, however, I have to admit I was a little concerned that it was going to take longer. I feel that 10 mins should be the MOST you should wait. Remember, we are customers and we pay them! There were three staff in the front working and seemed friendly. I was whisked away into a little room for some basic tests. What was nice is that it went very quickly, probably about 10 mins for two tests. Two techs were in the room and seemed friendly. I was given a privacy policy and signed a few forms, nothing too detailed, thank God. I was then escorted into the Optometrists exam room. I literally waited only about two minutes at the most. I was worried I'd be in there for 15 mins before he came into the room. Dr. Kajioka and I engaged in some small talk and I told him I made my decision to pick him because of online reviews. He asked me some questions about my eyes and contact lenses. I told him I was happy with Acuvue 2 lenses but the prior optometry group that I saw talked me out of them. He was real clear that he felt that a patient should wear contact lenses that fit them best and are most comfortable. I really appreciated the fact that he said that and that he didn't seem to want to upsell me to anything that simply made more money. We went through the usual tests to determine my proper prescription. I was probably with him for about 15 minutes, which to me, was perfect. He was very friendly and easy going, which I appreciated. Another tech came in the room, who was the one ordering my contacts. They gave me a trial pair of another brand because they didn't have the Acuvue in stock, which was fine by me. I was with the contacts girl for about 10 minutes discussing contacts and also needed to go to another room to do a quick test, that was about another five minutes or so. I then put my contact lenses in again she gave me some paperwork and we walked to the front desk where I had to pay my remaining balance after my insurance. The total time I was in the office was approximately 50 minutes, which was awesome! in summary, I felt the office was professional, friendly, and efficient. I will be coming back to them again, and I hope the service is equal to or better than it was today. I highly recommend! read more
