I was so pleasantly happy to walk in this beautiful bakery a while back. First time ever and I just needed a cake to pick up and luckily they have those. They are called grab and goes. The short African American girl helped me pick one out, super sweet and nice. My cake turned out super pretty, I cant believe they all that within in minutes. I will be returning and I am so glad that I was able to find what I needed. I absolutely love this place! My best friend had her daughters cake made here and it was so good. way better than her wedding cake that was done at Charm City Cakes. So when my birthday rolled around I got my cake here and was blown away. The frosting is great the cakes are so moist and the people are really sweet and patient. They appreciate their customers here and I have been loyal ever since. I just placed an order there today and I cannot wait to see the end result! I just got another great cake for my granddaughter's first birthday. The party theme was "Our little pumpkin is turning one" so the cake had pumpkin themed decorations. As usual the cake was beautiful, but what makes Kake Korner cakes so special is the CAKE! For the first time I ordered Fun Fetti flavored cake at my daughter's request and it was delicious. No matter what cake flavor I order, I always get unsolicited comments from the guests about how great the cake tastes. This was no exception. After watching so many cake and cupcake TV shows, I wanted to impress my ex-girlfriend with a make-up theme birthday cake that didnt look cheap. A friend of mine had an amazing girly cake for her birthday, so i inquired and Kake Korner was it. Very last minute, I went to Kake Korner 3 days before my ex-girlfriends bday celebration and went through the pictures. they had a cake previously made that looked amazing down to the T of how girl my ex-girlfriend was. I asked them for the cake with the lips with make-up added. My cake was made on time and my ex-girlfriend was extremely excited. She was definitely envied this night and her cake looked amazing. I used Kakekorner a couple of weeks ago for my Aunts 90th birthday Celebration. From start to finish the entire process was so easy and professional. The Kake was just as ordered and very beautiful. However, I was not able to eat it myself, people could not stop talking about how moist, flavorful and delicious it was. The event was in PA, this group of approx 125 people, had not experienced this caliber of Kake. Because of the design I chose, at first glance the cake looked like a set of boobs, (which wasn't intensional) but made for a nice laugh at the 90th birthday celebration. Went to a baby shower a few weeks ago and they had this amazing Lorax cake. Sure it looked great but cakes that look that good generally don't taste as good as they look. Don't know how they did it but every part of that cake was delicious!!! So delicious. I was at home with the little people and watching cupcake wars and we decided we wanted cupcakes - but instead of making them ourselves, we headed to Kake Korner and I am so glad we did. First the building and the delivery vans are adorable! When we walked in, and were greeted with a samples table and to the left was the cake area - for making or picking up orders. To the right, bakery counter loaded with fresh and delicious looking goodies! We left with half a dozen cupcakes and after dinner enjoyed every bite! The icing was great and the cupcakes were moist and flavorful. And the basic cupcakes (yellow w/choc icing or red velvet etc...) were $1.75 and just a bit more for the specialty ones like the Choc mint - delish! So the price was really reasonable and not inflated like some other bakeries in town. And the display cakes, are amazing to check out. The level of skill these people have is awesome! Kake Korner was absolutely wonderful to work with for our wedding. It was difficult to find a bakery who did strawberry cake, and the icing on all of the cake was absolutely perfect- not too sweet, but just right. They cake was designed exactly how we wanted and they delivered it to the vendor for us right as the arranged time. Very grateful for their attention to detail, the beautiful design, and most important, extremely good cake. We did a number of tastings and none of them came close to Kake Korner. Fortunately we don't live too far away, and I have no doubt we'll stop by for cupcakes often. read more

Great service. Cake was delicious. Had a birthday cake done for a kid's party with a lamb theme and it was a hit. The cake was moist and was not too heavy. The final design was just as requested and discussed when the order was placed. The icing on the cake (pun intended) for me with this place is they called me a couple of days later to see how we enjoyed the cake and if everything went okay. Talk about great customer service. I will definitely return for my special occasion cakes. The cupcakes were great as well. The best part about the cake is that it was not fondant but buttercream icing but was just as smooth and pretty as a fondant cake would be. They are also reasonably priced. I went here over 10 years ago for my sweet sixteen birthday and appreciated their design. I came back again today from VA to order a graduation cake. The woman however was so rude and the very opposite of customer friendly I walked out. Not only did she balk at me wanting a cake an undesirable size to her, she told another employee I could wait for her. Excuse me? Although the designs are wonderful, DC is privy to many more bakery opportunities that can match the beauty of the cake design to the beauty of customer service. I celebrated my daughters 3rd birthday this past weekend and had a cake order here. Besides the fact that it is expensive and it was not even fondet they completly messed up my order. the color was completly wrong and the dementions were all wrong. it was a 350 cake and a deposit of 170 and i had to pay an additional 60 for a cake that was completly wrong! i will never order from here again! they didnt even offer cupcakes or anything. if you order you should bring swatches of the color you want. your type of baby blue might be turquoise to them. read more

I have been a fan of Kake Korner for many years now. However my last visit, which was the first in probably 4 yrs really left me feeling disappointed. I went in on a Saturday afternoon just to pick up some ready cupcakes. once they finally got someone to the cupcake side of the building I was greeted with excellent customer service. What turned me off is that it wasn't even 1:00pm yet and they were already running low on some of the cupcakes to include the Cookies and cream which is one of the flavors that I went to buy. Also the last time I visited this bakery the cupcakes were $1.75 each. I was really hurt to find out that they had raised their prices to $2.75 each. But like I said I've always been a fan so I was willing to pay the almost $17 for a half a dozen. I couldn't wait to get my beautiful cupcakes home. But once I did I was hit with the most disappointment. The cupcakes tasted like betty crocker box cake. The after taste let you know that these cupcakes had been frozen before. UNACCEPTABLE!!! The icing wasn't good at all either! I don't know what changes Kake Korner has made besides doubling their prices but it is not a good change! This is the last time I will be visiting Kake Korner until they stop the mass production of cup cakes and go back to spending the same time and energy making fresh cup cakes as they do for their custom cakes. read more

On Friday, January 15, 2016 I drove all the way to Kake Korner from Fort Washington, MD to order a cake for my son 4th birthday. When I first walked in the door I was eager to order because I previously tried the cake at a friends birthday party. The young lady that helped me actually ruined the entire experience for me. In fact I don't even remember her speaking to me. She act as if I was irritating her. I told her that j was interested in ordering a paw patrol cake and she put two books on the table and said you can look through those but I'm not sure if paw patrol is in there. After browsing through about 50 or more pages I told her that there are no paw patrol cakes in there. Then I seen a one tier paw patrol cake sitting on the counter. That cake in particular was alittle too small for my party so I inquired about pricing and the girl who was helping me was completely unhelpful. She told me that I can get a sheet cake (12x18) with that same design. I expressed to her that although I like that design I wanted a different design. She then walked away without saying excuse me, I'm assuming to go talk to a colleague. She came back and said if you want a different design you'll have to pay more money. I also asked if I can get half marble and she that would be another $10. I felt as if she was charging me for every little detail but couldn't tell me how the cake would look in the end. She told me it depends on who the designer is. I also asked her if it was a black owned business because all of the employees i seen were African American. Who exact response was "No....actually she's Italian. Her daughter is black if that helps." I was shocked to say the least. She was extremely rude and unwelcoming. I ended up just walking out without ordering and took my business to Cakes Plus a few miles away. read more

I have been going to Kake Korner for years now and it's the only place that I recommend to people looking for a cake. I always take them my ideas and they bring them to life. I've had at least 9 cakes done from them. Even had a time I really was not satisfied with a cake Diane came in a fixed it within 20 mins. And the person loved the cake. My first problem with Kake Korner is the way the owner raves about her icening. Every two sentences is about how her butter cream icening is one of a kind and ppl travel from all over the country to get it. Ok lady, all I asked you is if your icening can be whipped, I didn't ask for a billboard announcement. Anyway... The icening was good but it was not that special. I've had sam's club icening that was way better. My second problem with them is the lack of flexibility. They only make certain flavors of cake and they only have that one buttercream icening (lol). I asked for a white cake. She grumbled with me at first stating my cake would be dry (which is foolishness because I've had moist white cake); then she agreed that she could do it by taking out the egg yokes. She did no such thing. The cake was YELLOW not white. It was also dry (like she said) and smelled funny within just 2 days of picking it up. By the way, the "consultation" is only about the design. If you want to arrange tasting of a particular flavor or style of cake that's not going to happen. They just have you taste the stale cupcakes they keep out front (which may or may not be the flavor you even want). It wasn't all bad though, because the design came out almost just the way I wanted it. It was smooth and precise, with no need for fondant. I also like that it was ready when I got there and the price was VERY reasonable. The BEST quote I got in the whole of Maryland. I guess I got what I paid for :). read more

I hosted a bridal shower for my niece and wanted a special cake. I saw one I liked online but decided to go in person. I met my sister there and the staff member treated us like royalty. We actually had fun buying the cake! We were given samples of several flavors of the cake to taste and they worked with our budget. They customized the cake with our colors and we ordered the one with the Eiffle tower. Everyone at the shower admired it, plus it tasted good! We purchased one layer in pecan and one layer in pineapple. Very little was left but my husband polished it off. I defintely recommend using Kake Korner for your next special event. read more

This place is disgusting. They do amateur work. DO NOT give them your business. The manager was unprofessional and did not care that my cake was not to my satisfaction. My cake looked like a kindergarten class had a bake sale at school and gave me the left overs a week later. Instead of offering to fix my cake or make me a new one, they continued to try and send me out the door with trash. *inserts the trash can emoji* They don't even have boxes big enough to fit their cakes in, so they send you out the door without a top on your cake....TACKY! Kake Korner is a fraud for a bakery. The cakes look appealing online; but the cakes are not homemade, and the cake itself taste like a box cake, i.e. Duncan Hines, or Betty Crocker. Every free sample of cake in this bakery taste the same and there is no way to distinguish between the cakes. This past weekend in November, my mother and I drove two hours from Pennsylvania to sit down with a cake consultant from this bakery to order a cake for my cousin's baby shower. I called prior to us making the trip to Maryland and was told on the phone that one of their cake consultants would sit down with me to go over the details of the cake for our event. Needless to say, this did not happen. There is no place to sit down in the bakery to go over the details of a cake design. Also, "we were told by one of the staff members of this establishment to try the free samples of cakes that were lying around the store, place our order for the cake, and keep it moving." This was poor customer service by this bakery. Therefore, we left this business and went to SugarBakers Cakes in Catonsville, MD. We were pleased with the cake consultants and the level of customer service was awesome at Sugar Bakers Cakes; therefore we placed our order for my cousin's baby shower at Sugar Bakers Cakes. read more
