I've already been to this place two times lol and making the review. I haven't had a cupcake this good in a few years. Though the actual location is extremely small. It's definitely packing a punch. The person behind the register was super sweet and even took the time to ask me how my day was and learn a little bit about me. The first day that I went, I got one cupcake, one mini cheesecake, and one chocolate chip cookie. Everything and I mean, everything was delicious. The cupcakes were extremely moist and flavorful. The icing was also really good light and fluffy. The icing is really, really sweet so if you don't like things too sweet maybe tell them to ease up on the icing. I really enjoyed the cheesecake and it left me wanting more because of the small size. If you're looking for somewhere to get a quick treat, definitely stop in. I ordered cupcakes for my husband's birthday and decided to grab one gluten free cupcake for myself just to test it out since I'm usually skeptical about gluten free desserts actually tasting good. I'm so glad I did because it was amazing. The flavor and texture were perfect, moist, rich, and not overly sweet. Honestly, it's the best gluten free dessert I've ever had. Buying just one was a mistake because now I'm already thinking about making the drive back to Baltimore just to get more. My husband loved his cupcakes too. They were fresh, soft, and full of flavor. I first had a cupcake from Midnite well over 10+ years ago, but it was one from their regular menu. Those are all good, but typically too rich for my taste. I love the speciality flavors they do though. In the past I had a cherry cupcake that was to die for. Yesterday I popped in because I'd heard they had a banana pudding cupcake and boy, did they ever. It was essentially banana bread with a core of banana pudding inside. The cupcake topping, not exactly sure what it was but it reminded me of Fluffer Nutter. All that to say, that particular cupcake was DELICIOUS and I gobbled it up before I had a chance to take a picture. :-( I also got a lemon blueberry cupcake that I didn't love. It reminded me of Jiffy muffins and was super greasy. But I get that not all specialty cupcakes will be to everyone's liking. The one I smashed though was the epitome of excellence. The cupcakery came highly recommended for the salted caramel cupcake. Although I did not have this flavor I enjoyed the midnite and carrot. The carrot did not have raisins and I was thrilled. I ordered 2 dozen for a next day pick up and the order was exactly what I requested. I would most definitely recommend and revisit every chance I get. Unfortunately, it is only .5 miles from my job so I foresee many more pounds in my future. Perhaps a brisk walk to and from the store will help curtail the anticipated calories. read more

MCC was the perfect spot to satisfy my sweet tooth after walking around inner harbor. The service was excellent, and the staff member took the time to explain the cupcake flavors and provide recommendations. Unfortunately, the store itself is a bit small inside, and there is no indoor seating. I ordered 1/2 a dozen cupcakes, including the playboy, gingerbread, midnite, full moon, and their best sellers, salted caramel, and black velvet. The cupcakes were well decorated and an excellent price for a specialty cupcake shop. The cake part was delicious for all of them. They were super moist and had nice flavors. However, the frosting was a bit too sweet for my preference and kind of overwhelmed the cake portion. The cream cheese frosting on the playboy and black velvet was a bit better, though, because the tartness of the cream cheese helped balance the sweetness. read more

I ordered cupcakes for my daughter's first birthday. I needed to pick up the order the night before the event because the party was scheduled for Sunday (and the store is closed that day). I was happy that the cupcakes were still moist the day of the party, and they kept their shape well. I had the opportunity to try midnight confection for a Yelp event. I will try to make this review short and sweet. I arrived at midnight confections around 6pm. It's actually located between a boutique and insomnia cookies. Nice location! The woman behind the counter kindly greeted me. As I looked around the store to check out the decor, cleanliness etc. I immediately decided which cupcakes I wanted to sample. I decided to purchase a black velvet and carrot cake (both kid approved). I literally watched my son devoured the black velvet within seconds..... hey.... slow down buddy. He gave me two thumbs up afterwards I had the strawberry cupcake it was very yummy and fresh. A very nice selection. . Ps: excuse the tipped over Cupcake this is not the bakeries fault. I tried several sweet treats from this bake shop, and i have mixed feelings overall. GLOWS: 1. Service was friendly and efficient 2. Cupcakes are served warm - they went to the back to "prepare" them, and at the time I didn't know what that meant. With that, eating them right away would beneficial. 3. The CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIE WAS THE BOMB!! GROWS: 1. The cupcakes were just average. They were small for the price, gritty in texture, and the icing was overly sweet. 2. They have handwritten menu boards, seemingly to keep an updated menu, but when I ordered a keto flavored cookie, they were out. 3. I visited Midnite Confections for Yelp event recently and I am so glad that I did! I have been searching for a cupcake business that would satisfy my sweet tooth without being forced to buy an entire dozen cupcakes. Midnite Confections is now my go-to cupcake dealer!! I ordered the cherry bomb cupcake for myself which didn't even make it home. The cupcake was moist and they didn't go overboard with the icing, which is a good thing for me. The icing was absolutely deliciously! Just the right amount of sweetness. I also ordered the eclipse, birthday cake and strawberry for my two boys and fiancé. Needless to say, the rest of the cupcakes didn't stand a chance! Once the world opens back up after Covid, I know who I will be calling to order cupcakes for any social events I host. Whenever getting cupcakes, I am always trying to find that balance between the perfect cake texture and sweetness level. At Midnight Confections Cupcakery, the cupcakes are moist but most of the frostings are a little too sweet for me. I ended up getting mostly seasonal flavors, except the lemon. I did not like the gingerbread cupcake too much. I honestly couldn't finish it. This bakery isn't set up like most in which you can see the cupcakes on display. I'm not sure if this is due to covid or if this is how it always is. They have a sheet with the cupcake flavors listed on them at the counter which was something else that had me confused. It wasn't until after I ordered that I realized that there was a bigger listing of flavors on the other side. Someone who ordered before me was raving about the salted caramel cupcake. I decided to pop in here tonight to satiate my dessert craving. This place is such a hole in the wall. I accidentally walked by it at first, which wasn't that hard to do honestly, but luckily I was able to find it. And I am so glad I discovered this place-- it is so delicious! When you walk in, the simple yet refined aesthetic was really nice. I liked how in the cupcake showcase only displayed flavors, so it looked neat, clean, and polished, which matched the elegance of the cupcakes. Onto the cupcake! So I only ended up getting one flavor, but after this one I will definitely be coming back. I ordered The Eclipse-- a vanilla cupcake with chocolate buttercream frosting. Omg! So I have really high standards for cake-based desserts because they are my life. This cupcake was literally a moist, crumbly pillowy confection below a halo of whipped chocolate hovering on top. This flavor combination is euphoric but especially on this cupcake. Every bite was the perfect ratio of frosting to cake, the frosting wonderfully blending with the cupcake to make each decadent bite immaculate. It's safe to say that this cupcake hit the spot and satisfied the craving, and that I will be returning to try more flavors! Although they are fairly classic, the flavors are so unique and delicious in their own way to make that their distinctive quality. Huh!!! Imagine that... 7 years after my first review and Midnite Confections' are STILL THEE BEST / my favorite cupcakes in the DMV. First... They were closed on my Black Friday 2014 wedding date and opened their cupcakery for that morning JUST to make and deliver my wedding order. Second... they have remained SUPER consistent with the cupcakes being perfectly moist while also with a de density we love and are still as rich and flavorful as the first time one ever graced my lips. As an update, the butter pecan cupcake has been perfected since my review from 7 years ago and is now one of my top faves in addition to their tried and true Midnite, Black Velvet, and Birthday Cake cupcakes all served and thoroughly enjoyed on 11.28.14 for our wedding and about to be devoured on 6.4.2020 for the 4th time during the Covid-19 shutdown which brings me to my third and final update... Third and most importantly: Black owned small businesses don't always have the best rep for reliability and customer service experience but this family owned and operated establishment has an outstanding level of service that has never faulted during any single encounter or visit and we've been there dozens of times. I recall their always offering us cold bottled water on hot Summer days and always being upbeat and friendly whether during a quick stop in or when we've needed last minute bulk orders. They've never made a mistake with our very specific orders nor has any batch of cupcakes from them ever had a bad one in the bunch, even from their truck at L'Enfant Plaza. Had a sweet tooth I couldn't shake and decided to stop in for a couple cupcakes. Popped in on a late Friday afternoon and was pleased that there were options available. There was only one person in front of me which allowed me to witness a wonder customer service exchange. The guy was equally kind and helpful during our exchange - always a bonus. I ordered two from the regular menu: Sublime-inal (a lemon cupcake) and Salted Caramel. It didn't have a written description but I went rogue anyway and also got one Sinnabon flavor from the special menu. Of the three, the best tasting one was the Sinnabon. It had flavor throughout. The other two seemed to need the frosting for flavor and I like to wipe most of it off to taste the cake. I was also a little disappointed that the lemon cupcake didn't taste quite lemony. In need of a sweet lil pick-me-up? Head over to Midnite CC! I was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to pop into this adorable shop earlier today and I highly recommend it. First I had to deal with the bane of my existence (aka parking). After I secured a quick spot knowing I'd be popping in and out of the shop, I crossed the snowy streets to obtain my sweet confection! Midnite CC only allows 4 people inside at a time to account for spacing inside and of course, requires a mask to enter. Thankfully, there was only 1 other customer inside so I didn't have to wait in the cold! I was pleasantly surprised and relieved to find out that the inside of Midnite CC did not have that sickeningly sweet smell that is characteristic of many cake shops (can you tell I don't like that smell?). There is a variety of cupcakes to choose from and cookies as well. I ordered 3 cupcakes that particularly called to me: Midnite (chocolate), Strawberry, & Full Moon (vanilla). The staff member was really friendly and bagged up my goodies to go. The cupcakes were packaged perfectly in their own containers so I did not have to worry about squishing them on my drive back home. The real party for my tastebuds began once I dug into my cupcake at home. The Midnite Cupcake was a chocolate-lovers dream! The frosting was incredibly rich, but not overly so. You know how sometimes the frosting is so good but the cake part of the cupcake is underwhelming? This was definitely not one of those situations! The cake was just as good as the frosting and overall, a true delight. None of the cupcake tasted egg-y, burnt, undercooked, or milky (all experiences I've had im the past). I look forward to trying the other cupcakes (trying to wait to reward myself!). Solid cupcakes with a huge selection of flavors. Some of the cupcakes are very oily - specifically the carrot cake one. I'd stay far away from those as they are drowning in oil. The strawberry cupcake and lemon cupcake are two of my favorites and packed with flavor. Very simple establishment - go in, choose flavors, pay, and leave. Not a place to go if you're looking for a friendly chit chat, but a good place to get a sweet treat to satisfy a craving. Cupcakes are around $3.50 a piece, so not super cheap for a standard home-sized cupcake. read more

I ordered during COVID-19 and there was no delay in communication or my order. I even needed to change the pickup time and they had no problem 24 hours before. There are a couple places I have to stop at anytime I'm in Baltimore & Midnite Confections is at the top of the list. Every cupcake I've had from here has been delicious. Moist, the frosting is the perfect amount of sweet without being overly sweet & so creamy. My absolute favorite is The Playboy cupcake. A good carrot cake recipe is hard to find but when I tell you they nailed it, I mean they nailed it. You can tell that their treats are baked with love. It's a 10/10 for me. read more
