I assume it was the manager I spoke to "Those are all we have. You'll need to go online.". Then proceeded to make a phone call. TOTALLY DISINTERESTED! Got home and looked at their website, and prices seemed reasonable. Kal Tire wasn't interested in a sale of about $3,000. KalTire Langford installed a rear window brake light bulb that cost .72 cents and charged me $93.00 labour. I called them about this and the lackluster front desk person said that is what the computer billing charged for this job. No remorse or sympathy. They should be ashamed. I went to another service station that I also deal with and they said it is a 15 minute job as the bulb housing easily unscrews and no hoist time is needed. They were shocked at what I was charged. The job took a half an hour (for a 15 minute job) and that is what I was billed for, so their shop rate must be close to $200 an hour. No off the computer billing for a small job like this-no mercy. Reminds me of a while back when they told me my rear brakes needed doing right away. I went to my other service station and they checked and said my rear brakes were just fine (didn't charge me for checking) I had them done two years later. Shouldn't have come back after this round but now I will make sure my wife and I take our cars elsewhere and never return ! read more

I would never go to this place again. They did help me out. It was an emergency. I had been lent a car and I got a flat and there was no spare with the car? . They managed to fix my leak, which was great. But they didn't tell me how much it was going to cost. I've never spent almost $60 to fix a spare tire. That seems like an a ridiculous amount check out the receipt. They charged me $34.40 to change the tire and another $16 for the little piece rubber they inserted. Absolutely ridiculous price. Don't go here if you don't have to. read more

This is a follow up on my previous review regarding another interaction with the shop manager. We had a disagreement on whether KalTire caused a damage to my vehicle as its wheel got detached from the lower controller arm two days after I got picked it up from KalTire. The synchronicity of the events was such that I can't consider the damage to be an accident and unrelated to KalTire's job. We drove the car only once after taking it from the shop. However, the store manager considered it mere coincidence. He then suggested that I contact ICBC and ask them to send someone to evaluate the vehicle. I did so, and contacted ICBC, who ensured me that "ICBC does not have any mechanics to do such assessments and this is job of a third party mechanic who can then write to us with his findings." I informed the store manager of ICBC's response and the fact that I will be sending a mechanic for check the vehicle. Here is the store owner's response: "we will only take ICBC as the third party, as well we need the vehicle removed asap from our building". If I had doubts about whether the store owner considers his shop to be at fault or not, I am now quite certain that he is well aware of his shop's mistake; otherwise, he would not have refrained from such inspection and continue to bully me to remove the vehicle. Not to mention, as a KalTire shop manager, he most definitely already knew that ICBC does not send anyone for assessment! Anyhow, my hands are tied. I will report the incident and the mechanic's findings to ICBC, but I regret the wasted time and energy. read more

I get my seasonal tires changes here. I do it because I can get the tires stored as I have no space at home. But I have had issues. They can never set the TPMS correctly. That is annoying. And the last time it cost me much money. The TPMS did not indicate a low tire pressure and I ended up with a flat tire on which I had to drive in order to get to a safe parking space. The tire was toast. I ended up having to buy two (so they would be balanced) new snow tires for over $1,000. if I knew of a better place I would not go there ever again. I am looking. read more

I stumbled on this gem as my tire was punctured by a nail and I was in the area. Usually this would be an upsetting scenario. However, I met Shane and the team, had a nice Starbucks, watched a movie in the nice waiting area. They fixed the tire very quickly and and gave me great advice. The space is clean, organized and modern. When it comes to something as important to safety as tires - especially with kids in the car. So now I only go to this Kal Tire. Brought my model 3 in for a winter tire swap. It was quite busy at this location and there was a lineup to drop off your car and the parking lot was packed. Due to the fact that their lot is full, they park the serviced vehicle in an overflow lot by Mr lube. The swap was done quickly but when I got to my car in the overflow lot, I found out all 4 tires were set at 27 psi (the manufacturer recommends 42 to 45 psi). Didn't want to go back to discuss this with them due to the lineup. I would return to kal for their quick service but I feel they should have inflated the tires properly. read more

ARE YOU KIDDING ME?? So I dropped off a tire to be repaired. A very large screw in the centre tread, thanks to the Burrard Street Bridge fiasco (that's a rant for another day). When I returned the tire was repaired, reinstalled, the spare tire placed back in the trunk all the accessories screwed back in. Then the tech announced that there was no charge! Let's be clear here, the vehicle had original tires from the dealer on it, not tires purchased at this this location. This is probably the third time, I have been to this location in five years; I am not by any stretch of the imagination their best customer. When I inquired as to why the service was free, the tech said to me, because we are in a good mood. Thank you for being in a good mood!! Feb 2018 It is hit and miss here, previous great experience, recent disaster! Arrived mid afternoon and was told they could not do repair that day, so appointment was made for the next morning. Was told 8:30 appointment would be up and down in 20 to 30 minutes. Showed up on time, checked in, 4th in line, was again told half an hour, so waited. 45 minutes later, was told I was next after this guy and that guy, and then it would be half an hour. Like a fat ass on a wicker chair, losing faith quickly. All kinds of excuses from front end guy, but continuing the lie, is not at all that helpful Asked for my keys and left. Valve stem replaced, no wait, and provided on a no charge, complimentary basis. I have not spent any money at this Tire Shop, but I expect I will in the future. read more

I have always had winter tires but decided this year to have them mounted on their own rims. Unfortunately my car's wheels are an oddball size and the options are limited and the prices rather high for rims that fit. Jay at this Kal Tire came through for me in a big way. He sourced a set of display model rims (for a significant discount) at a Kal Tire branch on the Island and even brought them back in his own car for me as a customer service! Aaron, the manager, took over once the rims arrived and handled the mounting and installation. I simply dropped off the car at store opening and I received a call at 10am to pick it up. They want me to return after 100km to have the lugs re-torqued for safety. My fiancé went in for just an oil change and it was a complete fail. They lost her booking but said they could still get it done before she had to work that evening. 5 hours later they hadn't even touched it. They were totally unapologetic and to boot they had parked her car in a cramped alley that was difficult to get out of AND they left the interior light on. Luckily the battery wasn't dead so she managed to get to work on time. We will never go back there for the maintenance of our cars. read more

Went here for a tire patch as i had a visible nail in the driver side tire. The guy that greeted me at the counter was nice. He asked me which wheel needed patching, told him which one, asked me if i wanted a phone call when the car was ready but i declined and told him im going for a coffee in the area. Gave them 45 minutes, went back and my car was ready. The same guy that helped me earlier printed out my invoice as i was pulling out my wallet and he tells me " no worries, this tire patch is on us". Even remembered to remind me to go back in a couple days to re-torque the lugs as they hand torque everything. Honestly, i dont know how anyone can give these guys any less than a 5 star review. I had a horrible experience with the Kal Tire on Arbutus in Vancouver (the Dunbar Store, #684 at 2790 Arbutus Street). I was left extremely shocked and disappointed. I feel that I was very nearly misled into paying close to twice the amount that I needed to, for replacement tires that I didn't need. I came in last Saturday with a flat tire. I had a spare tire on my car, and wanted to have the tire replaced. I'm sure it was easy to tell that I needed my car fixed quickly, as it was the weekend and I had my 5-month-old baby with me. I was told that that they will look at my flat tire, but it was lunch time, so someone would likely call me in an hour. This was fine with me, and I took a walk with my baby. I received a call not long after, and was told: - That not only do I need my flat tire replaced, I need all four tires replaced. - When I asked why I can't just have the flat tire or even just the front two tires replaced, I was told iat was because my car has all-wheel drive. - I was then asked to come into the store to review my options. When I got back to the store, I was given three options. They were three tire options to replace all four of my tires. One was a cheaper version, one was a set of 3-season tires that were similar to the ones I already had on my car, and the last option was an all-season version. I specially stated that I wanted the 3-seasons, as these were similar to what I already had. The cost, including labour and tax was about $760. I paid a deposit and made an appointment to come in later that week (when the tires would be delivered) to have them put on my car. My husband went to the appointment, and was told a completely different story. He was told that the only reason they could tell why we were getting all four tires replaced was because I wanted all-season tires. However, this was not what I had asked for. On top of this, he was told that if we wanted to keep our 3-season tires, all we needed to replace was the flat one and NOT all four. In the end, my husband replaced the front two tires (the non-flat front tire was replaced due to wear) for a cost of just under $400. I feel that I was misled. If it weren't for my husband coming in and talking to someone else, I would have paid almost twice what we actually needed to pay. I asked specially about replacing just the flat tire or even the just the front two, and was told clearly that I had to replace all four, because my car has all-wheel drive. I can't begin to explain how disappointed I am. Kal Tire is a neighbourhood store for me, and I'd like to go back if I needed to, but I won't be misled again. Called in for tire repair, and made appointment, was told 45 minutes but took much longer since they were very busy today, but I ended up getting a free repair. now that's Customer Service! This is the first time I've ever been to any Kal Tire shop and from what I saw today, Brian and his crew were very professional and friendly. Some of the worst costumer service I've experienced. I brought my truck in for a simple procedure but they didn't have one particular tool to do the job. Instead of telling me that up front, they held on to my truck for two days before finally telling me they couldn't do the job. Meanwhile, I could have taken it to a number of other garages to have it done in 2-3 hours as my dealership was waiting on me to trade the truck in for a new one. I also purchased a set of new tires from them and had them mounted, I put them on the new truck and one went flat over night, when I called them about it, they told me they were full up and I have to wait till after the weekend even though it was clearly and issue with the install or a defective tire which they should be fixing as there was no puncture on the tire anywhere and turned out to be the valve stem, they didn't tighten it properly. I'll never be going back here, it was a bad call I made in haste to begin with. read more

I bought a used car this January and it had a tire that was constantly leaking. After a few months of inflating it every few days I decided to get it fixed. I'd heard that flat repairs run in the area of $30-40 which seemed like a worthwhile investment so I made an appointment and brought my car in. As it turned out, my tire had not one but two nails in it which was the source of my leak. They patched up the tire for me, the tech was quite happy to have me watch (I'm a bit of a nerd in that I find this sort of thing interesting) and show me the process. Even though I was there just to get one tire fixed, they checked all my other tires, made sure they were inflated, topped off my fluids, and gave me a fairly comprehensive listing of everything that was wrong with my car. The shock came when I got the bill. $40 for all that work, with a $40 discount. Making it free. I guess the idea is that you get the free tire patching and the inspection, and then you'll come back to fix all the things that they've pointed out. Seems fair enough. I've heard of shops offering free flats on tires they've sold, but fixing a random tire on a 10 year old car for free is something else. Free is good. read more

The last time I had been at this location was a few years ago to use a wheel alignment Groupon. When they tested my vehicle, they found that no adjustments were needed and I was on my way (n/c). I was extremely appreciative of their honesty and committed to seeing them for my next set of tires. Well today was the day. I must say that this location is extremely busy and I can clearly see why. You will definitely want to book an appointment so that you will be able to plan out your day. I normally get an alignment when I buy new tires so I had scheduled that in as well. When I returned to pick up the vehicle they informed me that the alignment was still fine so did not need to conduct or charge me for an alignment. Once again very impressed with the honesty and excellent service. Their prices are extremely competitive and have price guarantee as well as excellent after service included in the purchase of the tires (ie road hazard, balancing, and rotation). I use to go through Costco for tires but Kal tire offers comparative prices, same air/balancing/rotation inclusion but without the insane line ups that I had experienced going through Costco in the past. I would highly recommend the Arbutus Kal tire location to anyone in the market for tires. With price match policy, you're guaranteed great prices and the team here will provide excellent and honest service. Keep up the great work! read more

I have been to this location multiple times, with nothing but excellent experiences to show for it. The frist time I went was when I bought a campervan and found a nail in the tire. I went to Kal Tire to have it repaired. The guys there told me the tires on the van had originally been bought at one of their locations, so they repaired the tire, did a big inspection of brakes, fluids, etc, and did it all for free! I have been back other times to get tires rotated, fixed, replaced, etc etc. The efforts they go to to make sure you are taken care of as a customer makes it a no-brainer. read more

Recently I had a flat tire in the snow...I managed to make it to a gas station and add enough air into the tire (it had been completely flat and on the rim) to get to the Arbutus St. Kal Tire. I was met by James Xu who told me that I had to make an appointment, and that they were completely booked for that day. Was I a member of BCAA, and if I was, I could take it home and have them put on my spare and come back. I am a member of BCAA, but was afraid that I would be flat on Arbutus St. and blocking traffic on my way home and didn't want to risk it. He was definite that he couldn't do it that day. We went back and forth for about 10 minutes (literally) until he finally gave in and told me to leave it and he would call me when it was ready. (This was 11 amish) I assumed that he would do it after 5, and that I would pay through the nose...which I was prepared to do (my job is 24/7 and I depend greatly on my car for transportation). I was picked up, and he texted me a few hours later to come and pick up my vehicle. Although I was, I am sure, difficult to deal with, at no time did Mr. Xu treat me with disrespect, nor was he rude, or indicate to me that he was annoyed. Epic service...he deserved a medal. I have gone here before and always had great service, but on that particular day, I know I was a challenge, and he rose to the occasion. And...there was no surcharge for him going the extra mile. read more

0/10 recommend. For a couple of reasons: 1. I was told multiple times that I was lying and wrong, in front of other customers. 2. A tire that was promised to take "the weekend, or maybe a day longer", ended up taking over 2 weeks to arrive, and I had to cancel my trip to Kelowna as I was driving on my spare. 3. 6 calls were made by myself over those 2 weeks, with promises from the "manager" to "call right back with information", yet I was only called back one time. 4.
