We took our car in to get our winter tires changed over. At the time I was happy with the service HOWEVER i only had the car back an hour when the back tire was flat due to an error by someone at Kal Tire's. I rang them up and they said I would have to change over the tire myself and then bring it back in". When we did get it back the staff were rude and told us we would have to come back at the end of the day. We insisted they fix it there and then but it still took them over 90 min to look at it. I had to downgrade this from three stars to one. Brought my car in for a slow leak. They called me a few hours later and told me there was a nail was in the shoulder and the so tire would have to be replaced. I bought the tires at Canadian Tire, and that's where they suggested I should go if I didn't want to buy tires from them. If I did, they said they would have to replace both tires on the left side because of the tread depth. At least they were honest, or so I thought. I went to Cdn Tire today, and they actually able to REPAIR the leak without having to replace the tire. They were still under warranty, so no charge. Plus they actually found TWO nails in the tire. So I am not impressed with the diagnostic skills of these guys at Kal Tire. After all they ARE a tire store, and that is their specialty. Another little thing, when I walked in the rep was on the phone, then he got off and started fiddling with his calculator. He didn't look up or acknowledge me until I announced my presence (politely, I hope). Only one chance to make a first impression, as they say. All he had to do was look up and say, "I'll be right with you." Common courtesy is a must. I won't be coming back to this store. read more

These guys are amazing !! Chris the manager specially knows what he is doing and always tries to get wveryone the best deal. I always see him offering free repairs or very good discounts to the customers so they can get their work done quickly. They also price match. Before purchasing tires and rims always check with this store and they will work it out with you for sure. read more

I have been a Kal customer at their Arbutus and 12th location for a number of years . I never took much notice of their customer Care Plan until I had a nail in my Nokian Tire .When I was told that the nail was in the sidewall and couldn't be repaired I enquired about the cost of a replacement expecting somewhere around $400 plus dollars . I was shocked when they told me 43.50 labour charge and they ordered the tire for me . That is why I am a loyal customer and will remain one for ever. read more

I like Kaltire but I would not recommend this tire store as they over charged me ~$190 for a tire damaged by a road hazard because they did not know their own policy on this. I questioned it but they insisted they were right. Then when I realized they were not right I went back and a second staff person there tried to tell me I was wrong. When I pointed out their own customer tire care policy, he said "this is not how he was trained" He did refund my $190 but was indifferent when I expressed my hope that they would get trained in their own policies. read more

Had a flat tire yesterday nearby and couldn't get my tire off to put the spare on. Popped in here and they offered some great advice and even loaned me a tool to help. Ended up getting a new tire from them which they were able to put on within 30 mins today after they assessed the punctured one properly. I had 3! flat tires after a wild off roading trip and I was a bit concern about having to replace them since is not the first time it happened. Despite the obvious advantage of selling me new tires, they were very transparent and clear regarding my options. I made a passing comment that this was my first flat tire and immediately Dwaine said that this was on the house. That's called customer delight and not satisfaction ! these guys are always amazing. whenever i've needed help with my car they've been there. of course they've done tune ups - but they've helped with extras that they didn't charge for - they did it for FREE - what did they do: 1) put my spare tire back on the back door of my rav4, 2) put AIR in my tires, and BEST 3) my back seat comes out and had gotten stuck - they took 20 minutes and a hammer to figure it out AND FIX IT. Great friendly staff! Brought in and dropped off a flat tire, they told me they may not get it done till the next day. I have a full size spare for my vehicle so wasn't too bothered. 2 and a bit hrs later I got a text on my phone saying it was done and ready for pickup. Got a nail in my tire so I popped in to Kal Tire to get the tired checked out to see if it needed a patch or be replaced. Now I understand that stores get busy as I myself work in retail, but usually when a customer walks in to your store, one should at least acknowledge the customer with a "hello" or a "we'll be right with you." But I stood there for over 15 min while the man behind the counter helped a pretty brunette and other workers bustled in and out of the office around me without even making eye contact. I understand that the place may have been busy and i would've probably waited another 30 min happily if I had just been acknowledged. Worst customer service ever. Went to Big O just down the road and got my tire checked, patched and given a quote on a new set of tires in about 25 min. Service was great. read more

I just had a set of Nitto Motivo ultra high-performance all-season tires installed on my Lexus RX350 at Kal Tire - Vancouver on 2790 Arbutus Street. The service and professionalism of this store is outstanding. After much research for the best tire choice for my car I discovered the model I picked is available exclusively through kal tire. Typically I prefer to have options for suppliers however Kal Tire offered excellent pricing. They seem to carry the best selection of tires in Vancouver . I planned to take a road trip with my new tires, but when the shipment was held up at the depot, Aaron Holliday, the store manager, went out of his way to find options to accommodate my needs. I have never experienced better customer service. I now have my new tires installed, and am a very happy customer. Aaron's store is now my number one choice for tire requirements. DO NOT GET YOUR CAR SERVICED AT Kal Tire - 2790 Arbutus Street My mother, bless her heart, believed that she had a leaky hose clamp for a newly installed radiator. She brought her car to this shop to get the hose clamp tightened. Instead of calling me and getting me to come over she went to this shop, that had received favourable reviews by friends, to get the job done. She got there before opening and left the key in the drop box with a quick description of the work that needed to be done. Someone from Kal Tire call a little while later saying that there was a lot of work that needed to be done: the thermostat needed replacing (it was only a couple months old), an oil change, full coolant flush and new coolant, new water pump, and a new battery. Never mind that there was no problem identified just a couple months before by the shop that replaced the entire cooling system, but the battery had been functioning perfectly starting the car without any problems. The final bill was $1000. (BTW, the oil change was $60.00 for regular oil and filter, a complete rip off!) So, my mother goes to the shop to pick up the car after being told that it was ready. She gets there, paid the bill, and is escorted across the way to where the car is parked. The fella who escorted her was carrying a battery with him because it was yet to be installed. The install took all of 2 minutes, to which she was charged $40. Then, she tried to start the car. Nope. The security system had to be reset since the batter had been swapped. They tried for several hours to get the car started and there was no success. These "professional" mechanics, that change batteries all the time have no idea how to reset the security system on a common car. The car sat there for two days, and they had no idea what to do. I went to the shop, reset the security system with instruction from the Internet and started the car. In conclusion, they took advantage of my mother, over charged her, and was felt careless for two days. I was utterly disgusted by the work practices and was going to contact the Better Business Bureau. My mother was contacted my the shop and they offered to refund the cost of the battery and install to make up for the inconvenience. While I am still disappointed, they are trying to fix this bad PR. I have increased my rating based on the refund. read more

My husband and I stopped in randomly to see if we could get a leaky tire fixed. It was near the end of the day and they took care of us. Not only was the service great given they paid attention to us right away, once the work was done and I went to pay, one of their reps gave me my invoice and then followed it up by saying "this one's on the house" and didn't even charge us! It was about $25 we saved and we were thrilled. You certainly don't get customer like that any more, and because of that, we'd go back to them any day. These guys were slammed today, but took my BMW with no notice when the run flat alarm went off. They took it, fixed it despite working for 2 hours beyond closing time, and because it was small (leaking valve) charged us very little. We HAVE paid full price before when a tire couldn't be fixed, they are not a charitable organization, but service is always excellent and they do a great job and do give a damn. Went in last Saturday to have the tires checked as flat tire light was on. Dwayne checked them out while I waited, felt it was low pressure and not flat. I'd be careful about this place. On two occasions they tried to overcharge me. I was smart enough to get a second opinion. The first was when they told me they were competitive with Cdn Tire on a set of tires. For their cheapest tires they gave me a quote that was over $100 more total than what it cost me at Cdn Tire for moderate quality tires. I then went back with a mechanical problem and they told me it was on both the L and R side of the car that would need to be replaced but when I went to Cdn Tire they told me it was just one side. read more

I had such a great experience here. I had gotten a flat tire the night before, and I had to drive out of town the following day. I brought my car into Kaltire early the next morning and they were able to fit me in right away and get me a brand new tire. They even showed me the nail that was lodged in my current tire and how the siding had a complete slit. The front one was worn down too so they ended up replacing both tires. Chris, the manager, was super helpful, not pushy, knowledgeable and answered all my questions. He also gave me a good price. I would definitely recommend this place! :) read more

I called Kal Tire the morning after I'd had a tire puncture. They told me I could drop off the tire and they'd get to it the same day. The shop was obviously busy when I arrived mid-morning. Dwaine greeted me, took the tire, immediately found the puncture (which neither BCAA nor I had been able to do), and promised to call me in the afternoon. He kept his promise, they were able to repair the tire, and it was soon back on my car. While I was there, I also interacted with Jason and Chris, both of whom, like Dwaine, were knowledgeable, efficient, and courteous. I was especially impressed by the attention everyone there paid to shop safety. Although they were really busy, it looked like they take good care of each other, of their customers, and of the vehicles entrusted to them. They're smart, too - they didn't charge me for the repair.
