Place was half full (maybe 10 customers), and the waiter was already so frazzled that he was kinda rude/abrupt - he just could not handle the 10 customers in the bar and dining. No food was coming out of the kitchen, and we watched the table next to us get up and leave after waiting for an hour and only getting an anemic looking single appetizer, and still waiting for drinks. They were upset, but we stayed because we were not in a hurry. The food was terrible. Waited an hour for an unceremonious plate of six or so dumplings the size of Hershey's kisses. That charcuterie plate other reviews talked about? It took 45 minutes and was very disappointing. I'll post a photo. We heard the waiter and cook cursing at each other- not good. Nice beer list, weak wine list. The Pinot Noir is Wine by Joe. Don't go.

Interesting update for Ahles Point Cabin = the musical genre has changed - It is no longer *100% Grateful Dead, but an eclectic mix of fabulous vibes, from The Police to Wilco, Impossible Germany - to everything in between- (Wilco is worth looking up). So yes, we do recommend spending time here. ** I wish they had lounge chairs.

Unfortunately, it's closed on Mondays and Tuesdays, so we planned to visit later in the afternoon on Wednesday. When we arrived, the parking area was empty. I walked up to the front door and stepped inside. I immediately noticed the fire crackling in the fireplace. I told the staff member I'd be right back after getting my wife. At the time, the only person inside was the McMenamins employee. The space itself is small and cozy, with two booths, about four tables, and seating for around five at the bar. There's also outdoor seating with a fireplace, though it wasn't lit during our visit. When my wife came in, she was absolutely delighted. She walked straight over and stood in front of the fire, soaking it in. We took seats at the bar near the fireplace and asked about their offerings. The bartender provided menus, which feature a small but appealing selection of appetizers, pizzas, subs, and desserts, along with a modest drink list. We'd already eaten, but I ordered a pint of their Hammerhead. As we sat by the fire, we chatted with the bartender/server, who shared a bit about the place and the nearby Kalama Harbor Lodge. A few other groups came in while we were there, but after I finished my beer, we decided to head out. Overall, we both thought this was a really charming little spot, warm, welcoming, and well worth checking out. Highly recommend!

So much art to look at, curiosities tucked in every corner, space to roam and explore! - Get the passport to make your stay even more rewarding and fun! I love the scavenger hunts and the stamps force you to do things you might not normally do on your own accord. - The full pitch and putt course is a relaxing and a fun way to spend a few hours. It was only $25 per person and took us 3 hours. - I signed up for the Makers Tour and highly recommend it! Lots of tastings and great historical facts along the way. - The soaking pools at night were perfect to relax muscles right before bed plus no kids after 8pm. - This hotel doesn't revolve around children. The movies that were showing were rated R and most of the pubs and pool hall are 21+. Kids are welcome - but I've never seen that many kids around which I like, personally. - It's very Dog Friendly!! - The live music is incredible. I've been here for big concerts on the lawn plus mini concerts down the winery hall. They were all amazing. - It can get noisy between 7-11pm especially in weekends! The building is old - not sure about insulation and things! Bring some earplugs, a positive attitude and maybe enjoy an extra drink! Or go during the week for a quieter experience. - The food is a bit pricey but if you are doing the passport it makes a little more sense. Some of my favorites are the Cajun Tots, Portland Dip, any Burger, and the Bagel and Lox Breakfast is Incredible!!!

The Highlights * The Saltwater Outdoor Pool: This was the absolute highlight of our stay. The water is kept at a perfect 38°C (100°F), making it incredibly relaxing. I highly recommend visiting after 8:00 PM when the pool becomes an 21+ area. * Thoughtful Details: The robes provided were high quality and very comfortable. Pro-tip: Be sure to bring flip-flops for the walk to and from the pool area. * Art & Dining: The murals throughout the hotel are fascinating to look at. We also had great experiences at the on-site bars and the Black Rabbit Restaurant, where both the food and the service were excellent. The Room & Stay Quality We specifically booked a room with a private bathroom and shower. However, most rooms at this location utilize communal facilities. Unfortunately, our room was located very close to the shared bathrooms and lavatories. Due to a complete lack of etiquette from other guests using those facilities, it was extremely noisy throughout the night. Because of the poor sleep quality and the noise levels, we likely won't be staying here again. It's a beautiful property, but the layout and noise issues made it difficult to fully enjoy our birthday celebration.

This isn't one of the fancier brewpubs in Portland (looking at you 10 Barrel and Deschutes) but that's never been the Crux brand so I'm happy to see them stick to their down to the earth origins and focus on making really good beer. The bar is nice and long and a good place to post up for a couple of pints, with plenty of cheery tenders to pour them for you. The space is overall industrial-feeling with tall ceilings and minimalist decor and mostly bare walls inside, but there's also an outside patio area with picnic tables in the parking lot, though that's best in the summer. We got the General Tso Cauliflower to start which was a great share plate, with awesome flavor in the sauce, though the actual cauliflower was a bit undercooked. Still, we polished it off no problem. Fish tacos were also a good call, and the thin, crispy fries were a crowd favorite. There are so many good sours, IPAs and other craft beer options here, my buddy just opted for the 4-brew flight (mostly IPAs) which we all sampled and loved, though it's kinda pricy for what's basically 20 ounces of beer. The one-off vintage 14% special beers are where it's at, but at that ABV level, we just decided to share one barrel aged Imperial Stout. So friggin caramelly and delish - the perfect dessert. The space was pretty quiet for a Saturday night but our service was absolutely next level, so it made for a super pleasant gathering for our small group. The food at this Crux location is probably best described as better-than-average pub fare, but not mouth-watering, and the ambiance is low key but also nothing super special. The beer and the staff though, are awesome, so I will be back for more.
