I originally wanted them to cater my wedding and while we didnt quite go that direction, I loved them so much and wanted to support them so badly that I circled back with them for my DREAM rehearsal lunch. I had a crazy idea that I wanted to do a kamayan style lunch to celebrate my Filipino heritage and they were not only super onboard but even brought the flowers to bring it to life (unexpected and almost made me cry lol). We had a buffet setup and the food was presented beautifully, they were very accommodating with all our requests (we had A LOT of back and forth changes leading up to the wedding), and they even came during rehearsal to scope out the space to ensure they could set up properly. I was looking for a caterer to provide lunch for my mom's Celebration of Life. As I was starting my inquiries, Khara responded very quickly and was very understanding of my situation which would require less than 2 weeks notice and said they could accommodate the day I needed. She helped me with the menu (even suggesting items that would be better than others).I felt very confident that I was in good hands. This is a way long overdue review for this vendor; in 2019, I was preparing for my daughters combination high school graduation and 18th birthday party. THE MOST KIND AND FAMILY-LIKE CATERER I'VE WORKED WITH! During our wedding weekend in San Diego, we decided to do a welcome dinner cruise the day before. Luckily we could bring outside catering. We contacted Kalei's Kitchenette and Chef Andy personally called me to figure out every last detail. On the day of, Chef Andy again called to make sure drop off details were correct. Chef Andy ended up showing 45 minutes early since he did not want to show up late coming from another drop off. He had no problem with waiting. When we arrived to the boat, he helped us load every single item of food onto the boat. THE FOOD WAS A HIT! A mixture of Hawaiian and Filipino dishes. Our family and friends couldn't get enough. Once it arrived we thought we ordered too much, but it was so good everything was finished by the end. In summary, we felt like we were ordering from family. She gave us recommendations on what food to pick. Utensils, plates, etc. were also included, so we wouldn't have to worry about it, which was super nice. I had Kalei's Kitchenette provide the food for my department's company luncheon. Khara was very helpful with helping me plan a menu for my team while keeping our budget in mind. We paid in advance via PayPal. Communication and service were excellent! I can't express how easy it was coordinating this order despite the short notice. They can do delivery with onsite server too, but we decided to pick up the food. Chef Andy greeted us at the store front when we got there - it's the Filipino restaurant. He was very kind and we had a great conversation with him. Being originally from Hawaii, he knew how to get the flavors right! We ended up getting Huli Huli Chicken, Beef Teriyaki, Eggplant Tofu (for the vegetarians) as well as green salad, pickled cucumber salad, rice, and lumpia for appetizers and sides for 30-35 people. I was searching for caterers for my nephew's first bday party and found Kalei's kitchenette. I submitted a request via yelp and Chef Andy called me the next day to discuss the party details and what I wanted. We went through the menu and with Chef Andy's help, chose a menu for 50 individuals. He sent me the estimate that same evening and included the cost of full service. I took a few days to mull over the estimate and made a few adjustments and Chef Andy quickly sent me over a revised estimate. I decided on drop-off service and chose the following items: 1) green salad with papaya dressing; 2) jasmine rice; 3) pancit; 4) Huli-Huli chicken; and 5) salmon dynamite. A 50 percent deposit was due to secure the date and then the remainder was due the day prior. Communication throughout the process was on point. On the day of the event, Chef Andy was prompt and placed the warm dishes in the chafing dishes I purchased. He also included little food signs which was a nice touch for the guests. The food was great and the guests raved about all the dishes. My favorite was the salmon dynamite but everything was good.
