It's day 4 after Arthoscopic shoulder surgery for multiple tendon tears/issues. Great staff at Surgicare. There was no post-operative bruising, swelling or significant bleeding, and recovery has been surprisingly fast. Minimal pain and I could stop the narcotics on Day 2. In march 2025, my right knee was swollen, but it was not hurting when I walked. I still do exercise , hiking every week,and play badminton, traveling. The MRI show that I had fluid buildup, so my primary doctor referred me to see him . He diagnosed my sickness in a few minutes , and didn't show me the images and explain the procedure as arthroscopy. Instead of just drained the fluid. He sent me to knee arthroscopy right away. However, after one month, my knee still hurts and I barely to stand up or walk . At my follow up, he was so careless to look at my incision , or helped me to get up and get down from very high exam chair. I almost fell off the chair. He also talked very rude about my age, he said I couldn't get back to walk normally because I am old ( I was 65 in year 2025). It took long time to heal. He didn't send me to physical therapy after the surgery . Now exactly one year from his surgery. I am handicapped , my knee keeps hurting and I can't walk without a cane. I have new orthopedic at Sutter Hospital in San Jose. He gave me cortisone injection, and said the last step if my symptom isn't getting better. I need to have knee replacement. But, I just had cortisone injection a week ago. My knee is not hurting badly as before. My new doctor also ordered for me a knee brace. I hope my knee will be recovered soon My suggestion if you have knee problems, avoid to see doctor Kale Stidham if you don't want to be a crippled. read more

Came here a few weeks ago. Didn't even help me at all. Rushed me out of the office. He seemed in a HURRY and didn't even explain the reason for my knee pain and just recommended me to go to an MRI radiologist. And was 20 minutes late to my first appointment. Also, the front desk workers are so rude. I TOLD THEM I NEEDED TO FILL OUT SOME PAPERS AND THEY JUST TOLD ME TO SIT DOWN. I had to talk to them again saying I need to fill out papers because I'm new??? Dr. Stidham repaired my MCL in 2015 . It was a very complicated surgery and very successful at that. I was able to dance and run afterwards. He took me on knowing I was 64 and athletic. I first saw Dr. Stidham when I was on the worker-comp for my elbow injury I had Epicondylitis. I tried all the therapies even the cortisone shot but nothing helped. When they send me to see the specialist Dr. Stidham came to play, he knew exactly whats causing the pain in my elbow, he said it commonly known as Golfer's Elbow (Epicondylitis). Dr. Stidham was recommending the PRP but he did informed me that that's not covered with any insurance. I decided to move forward with that procedure and visit Dr. Stidham at his facility. I have to say the Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) Injections hurt like hell, but at the end was all worth it. I would definitely recommend PRP for Epicondylistis fast recovery. I came to see him initially with my husband who ended up having an Achilles tendon tear and later for my own knee surgery for a torn meniscus. I'm very sorry to see such poor reviews for Dr. Stidham and I can assure you that he does not deserve a 1/5 star rating. I'll tell you a bit about my experience with him from both a personal and a professional standpoint as a Doctor of Chiropractic who has referred to him. Two years ago my best friend broke his ankle trying to recapture his youth by performing a backflip on a trampoline. This was about 3 days before his birthday. My friend was freaking out about the whole thing because he had no personal insurance whatsoever. After a trip to the O'Connor ER, we were provided with a list of about 4-5 orthopedic surgeons in the area and Dr. Stidham was on the list. My friend wanted to call one of the surgeons (and we did), but as a chiropractor I wanted him to check out Dr. Stidham because he's a DO (Doctor of Osteopathy). For those of you who don't know, DO's are sort of like cousins of Chiropractors. They have their original roots in BOTH allopathic medicine and "alternative" medicine like spinal adjustments. They are also a LOT less "cut-happy" compared to their MD counterparts in the world of surgery. We were able to get my friend in to see Dr. Stidham the very next day and, after seeing the x-rays from the ER, he recommended surgery (bi-malloeolar fracture, for the curious reader). He ended up having surgery two days later....on his ACTUAL birthday. Problem was....my friend's lack of insurance. Dr. Stidham knew up front that I was a chiropractor and I told him that I would be taking care of all the post-surgical physiotherapy and rehab for my friend. So he ended up arranging for my friend to use a surgery center, rather than the hospital. This resulted in a savings of at LEAST $10,000 for my friend right off the bat. Second, Dr. Stidham was able to help him out quite a bit in terms of the price and financing of his surgical portion and included, within his surgical fee, all follow-up visits at 2 weeks, one month, and three months. I know that part of this was related to showing me professional courtesy, but even still he was VERY FAIR with all of his pricing, particularly compared to some physicians I have seen. My friend has done extremely well all things considered. Two weeks ago we both crossed the finish line at the Norcal Tough Mudder event at Squaw Valley (13.5 miles, 2600 ft elevation climb, 23 military-style obstacles)!!! Since having such a good experience with my friend, I've referred a handful of patients to Dr. Stidham for surgical consultation. All of my patients have loved the guy. I had one case I thought for sure was a surgery and....Guess what?.... he didn't want to perform surgery and wanted to try the conservative approach first. And my patient recovered fully. That's when I knew he his integrity matched his quality. Today I referred another patient to him and needed to find his phone number, which is how I came across these negative reviews. As soon as I saw them, I needed to write my own review. I am sorry that one of the reviewers feels like was not up front about the non-covered portion of their bill. But let's face it.....he's a surgeon. He cares about...ya know.... the surgery. And making sure you get the RIGHT treatment, not who/what/where the money will come from. Another thing to keep in mind for anyone on the fence still trying to determine if they want to go to Dr. Stidham is to remember that VERY FEW people Yelp about their experiene with doctors UNLESS they are complaining about something. If they do an excellent job, very rarely do patients go online to Yelp about it. Dr. is not an MD just FYI he is a DO. His manual manpultaion of my injury resulted in hours if not a few days of pain. I've been having some hip inflammation, so I went to Dr. Kalle. I did not experience an unreasonable wait, my exam occurred 15 minutes after my scheduled appointment time. He did some physical tests on my hip including a anteroposterior impingement test that found a problem and recommended an MRI at a very specific imaging center whose quality he trusted. He's an energetic, fast talker, who moves quick 100mph so he might be intimidating for the elderly, but I recommend him to younger athletic patients (under 50) as he's friendly and very open for questions and concerns. If you want a doctor who truly listens, who cares about his patients, and who will look for the cause of a problem without jumping to conclusions and medicating symptoms... then you should see Dr. Stidham. I'm so thankful that my husband found Dr. Stidham by researching the top Orthopedic Surgeons and sports doctors. Dr. Stidham has served as a doctor to the San Francisco Giants, and his medical expertise is trusted by professional and collegiate athletes from all over California and the country. I saw Dr. Stidham after nearly a year of being "treated" by many, many, MANY doctors - first with PAMF and then with Kaiser. They were all completely unable to diagnose the cause of my excruciating arm pain. They put me on all kinds of drugs ("let's see if this helps") and jumped to diagnostic conclusions ("it's most likely MS" and "this is caused by stress"). Dr. Stidham listened to my story and my description of my symptoms and then sat next to me... and diagnosed me within 30 seconds!!! This is how medicine SHOULD WORK, and I am blessed to have found Dr. Stidham. After my surgery, he continues to take a personal interest in my recovery. He is compassionate and knowledgeable. The fact that he treats top athletes also works in my favor, as he recently was able to draw on experiences with a top college athlete when reviewing my case with me. I have read the criticism of him on this site, and I can say from personal experience that I believe those criticisms to be overblown and unfair. If you don't want your doctor to demonstrate his compassion, go to a different doctor. If you don't want your doctor to manipulate your body to look for the real cause of a problem, go to a different doctor. Wow, horrible experience. I severed a tendon and needed surgery. I was referred to Dr. Stidham from the ER. Even though he told me I would need surgery within two weeks, he took off on vacation right after my pre-op appointment and the office surgery coordinator was very unpleasant about it. The icing on the cake is when I phoned to see when my surgery would be and the office staff had no record on me, they didn't believe I was a patient who already had a file, even though I had been to the office and I saw my file with my own eyes. Had a small cyst on one my finger joints and after a year of putting it off, I finally decided to get it checked out. I was lucky enough to find Dr. Stidham on Yelp. I called the office and made an appointment with Dr. Stidham. He spent some time with me to take a look at my hand and recommended I get an MRI. I agreed with his judgment that we shouldn't just start cutting things open without knowing what we're dealing with. I was able to schedule the MRI a few days later, and a follow-up a few hours later on the same day. Dr. Stidham identified the problem and spent time reviewing my options. I chose a less temporary, less invasive option for surgery for now, but I appreciated that Dr. Stidham took the time to explain to me the different options (and to answer all my hypochondriac questions! :P) Although this review is for Dr. Stidham, I feel like the entire office and staff are part of the overall experience of visiting a doctor. Everyone I spoke with was very nice, from the people at the front desk, to the nurses, to the MRI technician. The office is easy to find (near Santana Row!) and is very inviting -- I loved that they had freshly brewed coffee in the office on a cold day like today. All the appointments happened on time, and I received a courtesy call reminding me about the appointment the day before. I was very satisfied with the scheduling and availability. The Best surgeon available. I would never trust anyone else. My sister had a horrific break of almost everything from the knee down. At least four doctors told us there was nothing that could be done other than amputation. Then Dr Stidham arrived and asked if she would allow him to try to at least save her leg. He did tell her if it was at all possible to save her leg, she would never be able to walk again. First, I want to say a little bit about myself: I am a physically fit and active 25 year old who enjoys hiking, soccer, sky diving, snowboarding, traveling, taekwondo, and just about everything else that involves physical activity. I had been suffering from chronic knee pain off and on for the past ten years. The pain was the result of osteochondroma on my left distal femur. In layman's terms I had a very large bone (tumor) growing out of the left side of my knee that was causing extremely sharp stabbing pains on occasion. Recently the tumor began to grow, the pain became much worse, and I lost virtually all mobility in my left leg. It was very disheartening for me to have to give up doing everything I enjoy. The pain was unbearable, I was unable to hold a job, and even worse I was uninsured with student loan payments piling up. I had seen countless doctors and orthopedic surgeons in the past who all agreed that I needed to have surgery, but that the operation was too expensive for me to have. They recommended taking pain medications and staying off of it in hopes that the pain would eventually subside. I did just that for four months straight to no avail! In the mean time I had managed to land a dream job teaching English in South Korea that I would begin on 7/18/12. My other doctors assured me that I would be much better by then, and that I had nothing to worry about. By the beginning of June my knee was even worse than it had ever been, in spite of doing everything my doctors told me! I was really in full panic mode. In desperation, I made the decision to start calling ALL of the orthopedic surgeons in the entire bay area to see if any of them would be willing to operate on my knee given my financial situation and the small window of time that I had until I was supposed to move to South Korea. I made the phone calls on 6/7/12. Dr. Stidham was willing to see me on 6/8/12 (Friday) for my first appointment! He managed to schedule me for an MRI the same day and even helped me get a discount. Later that day Dr. Stidham's office called me and said that Dr. Stidham would like to go over my MRI with me on 6/11/12 (the following Monday). I was very impressed with his professionalism, and how much he truly cares about his patients. When I came into his office on 6/11/12 I thanked him for seeing me again so quickly. He had me go into his office and spent over an hour going over my MRI with me and explained everything that was going on with my knee. I have never had a doctor tell me that they would spend as much time as I wanted going over my knee and all of the possible options, but that is just what he did. When we finished talking we both decided that surgery was the best option, and he was willing to preform the surgery at a price that I could afford. I asked him how much I owed him for the visit, and he said not to worry about it. In fact, he said that he wasn't actually scheduled to work that day and that he had postponed prior obligations in order to make sure that I could get my knee fixed in time to go to Korea. I have NEVER had a doctor come in and help me when they were not even scheduled to work, let alone for free! Later that day I received a call from his office informing me that they would be able to operate on me on 6/13/12! I was so impressed with his professionalism and how much he truly cared, it was all so surreal! I cannot begin to thank Dr. Stidham and his staff enough for everything they have done for me. I saw Dr. Stidham on 7/9/12 for my second follow up visit after my surgery, and I am happy to say that my knee is back to 100% strength and flexibility. Best of all, I am going to be able to start my dream job teaching English in Korea! I can't even begin to say how amazing Dr. Stidham and his staff are. They are life savers! Today is 7/10/12 (not even a month after the surgery) and I am able to bike, run, hike, and kick around the soccer ball again! I first went in to see Dr. Stidham for what I thought to be a shoulder injury related to some MMA/jiu-jitsu training. Every doctor before him only suggested I stop doing MMA/BJJ and didn't really take the time to understand how it happened, and what I wanted to do with my life. He was the first doctor in a series of them that took the time to listen, understand how I hurt myself, and what my desired outcome from treatment would be. He was open, honest, and ultimately referred me to a colleague in the Nerve/Spine area as he felt didn't want to agitate what he thought the real problem was. His assessment was correct and it was actually a neck issue and crimped nerve. Fast forward to my hurting myself again, this time with a detached bicep from a MTB crash. I remembered Dr. Stidham and called himdirectly and, while he was on vacation, he gave me some quick advice and setup an appointment the moment he would get back. He was again, open and honest and gave me the hard truths about my options and recovery periods. His office was great about scheduling the surgery, communications up to and even after the procedure. His office was always timely in keeping to my appointments, and were more than accommodating to my requests for changes. I had a torn ACL in my left knee, Dr. Kalle Stidham thoroughly explained me all my options, gave me the earliest date possible for surgery and was very patient in answering all my questions(I had a ton of them :P ) before and after my surgery. I am a patient of Dr. Stidham. I had a serious bicycle accident in 2013, breaking several bones, including a problematic break at the tip of my clavicle. The ER orthopedists were not especially helpful -- they refused to give me advice one way or another on repairing it. I asked my GP for a referral to the best otho surgeon he knew, and he sent me to Dr. Stidham. Dr. Stidham gave a very clear treatment plan, and was able to squeeze me into his surgery schedule just two days after the consultation. My insurance plan at the time did not reimburse procedures out of network, so Dr. Stidham agreed to a reduced in-network fee that saved me from having to find an in-network doctor. That was a real life-saver, especially because I needed the surgery right away. I required two surgeries for the repair -- one to install a plate, and a second to remove it three months later. The surgical facility (SOAR in Burlingame) was excellent, with a super-responsive and professional staff. My final outcome has been very positive. I have almost completely restored function in my badly injured shoulder, and I expect complete recovery. The surgical scar itself it very nicely done. He does beautiful work. Dr. Stidham has been friendly and supportive throughout, always taking time to explain the issues. The office where the consultations happen (San Jose) is quite busy, so be prepared for occasional scheduling conflicts. It's totally worth it. He's great! read more

I wish there was a negative rating button because so called "Dr. Kalle" was very unprofessional and rude. My mom was referred to him by one of her long time doctors, & unfortunately her visit was NOT ONLY unpleasant but so uncalled for. They waited outside for over an hour, after that my mom was called in and still had to wait AN EXTRA 20 MIN... He walked into the room in a very bad mood and started cursing in front of my mom and my sister, not only that but he rushed everything and didn't really care about my mom's case. The person who they have to "translate" couldn't even do her job right. She had no idea how to explain nor translate the doctor's notes & when my sister helped my mom by CORRECTLY translating, so called "Dr. Kalle" yelled at her and made it seem like he was irritated at the fact that my sister was able to translate & the girl who works for him wasn't even capable of doing it correctly. I am very upset and angry that my mom had to experience this which in a sense is ALSO very traumatic because WHAT "DOCTOR" CURSES TO THE PATIENTS AND REPEATS IT?!?!?!? , he should not be working in the medical field if he does not know how to appropriately carry himself and act like a doctor. YOU SUCK & I never wish bad on nobody but in this case you need to be OUTTTT of this profession!!! read more

Its good to know I have a doctor who cares about my well being. His staff was very accommodating during my scheduling time. Make sure to ask for his assistant Debby, she is the one who really knows his schedule and helps out the most with communicating time. Dr. Stidham is a great guy, he helped me understand my ankle injury and walked me through my MRI with great detail. He helped explain the necessary steps to take for a natural healing process and other methods to avoid surgery. First and foremost Dr. Stidham is an awesome individual and surgeon. I would recommend him and his team to anyone searching for a sports med. doctor/surgeon. I injured my knee (ACL&MCL tear) playing basketball back in March and had a terrible experience with previous surgeons and scheduling staff. On multiple occasions my surgery dates were cancelled. The lack of communication and care was ridiculous, and the best answer I could get to when I asked when I would be having surgery was, "We'll call you when we have an opening." After waiting 4 months I was fed up, and fortunately found Dr. Kalle Stidham's name on a short list of Orthopedic Surgeons approved by my insurance. One of the best doctors in the Bay Area for sports surgery. I had my labrum repaired by Dr.Stidham last October and it was a completely painless surgery and aftercare. Dr.Stidham`s bedside manners is wonderful and he throughly listens to your questions and answers them one by one. He make sure that you understand the details in the surgery. Mine was a very complicated repair as the labrum had very bad tear and the doctor was very confident with the proposed surgery for fixing it. Dr. Stidham did a hip replacement on my precious 83 year old mother in 2010 after a fall. The reason, I give Dr. Kalle Stidham One Star Rating that he was not as good as I thought. He is not good Doctor and inexperience My Son, 13 years old got little finger fracture. It was not big major injuries. He did not explain clearly to us as well. He told us that my son need to surgery if we want his finger healing fast. I don't know what's kind of Doctor it that? We went to Stanford Clinic to see another Doctor for opinion. She told us that my son would be healing well after 4-6 weeks. He no need to have surgery. Watch he doesn't charge you for non insurance covered issues. Very expensive and no explanation of costs. I asked "does my insurance cover the draining of fluid from my knees and without my getting an answer he proceeded to complete the procedure and promptly sent my bill to collection. read more

When my hip pain (that I had ignored for far too long) became unbearable, I made an appointment to see Dr. Stidham. When I arrived for my appointment the receptionist told me my appointment wasn't until 3 days later (problem with ZocDoc site not the Dr.'s office). Here is where Dr. Stidham and his staff started to shine. The receptionist said she would see what she could do and had me take a seat. Less than 3 minutes later, Dr. Stidham's assistant called my name and ushered me to an exam room. So, not only did I get to see the Dr. when they didn't have me down for an appointment, but I didn't even have to wait long! Now, I know what you're thinking: Big deal, he took a walk-in, doctors do that all the time. Right? I get it. And if that was the only notable occurrence during my visit perhaps it wouldn't warrant this review. But wait, there's more. I could tell the doctor had a full schedule because the reception area was pretty full and any staff-member I saw was moving with a purpose. When Dr. Stidham walked in he got right to work, but was in no way rushing through the exam. After talking to me to get an idea of what was going on with my hip, he manipulated my leg while I gave him feedback about my pain. He only needed a few seconds to tell me what he thought was the source of my pain. Now, everyone knows doctors' diagnoses are usually, if not always, educated guesses. But what I really appreciated about Dr. Stidham was, although he was very confident in the diagnosis, he was quick to say the diagnosis may be wrong. He had me get an x-ray (from the awesome, super-nice x-ray technician down the hall) which confirmed his diagnosis. But he took it a step further and ordered an MRI to make sure he wasn't missing anything. He went over what my treatment options were and explained what to expect with the different treatments. All the while he made sure to answer all my questions. To sum it all up Dr. Stidham is extremely knowledgeable, thorough, systematic, and professional. What more can you ask for? read more

Dr.Stidham treated me for a broken fibula back in July. I have been very pleased with his diagnosis and treatment. I wish I could have seen him outside of U.S.health works in Cupertino. My first 2 visits where great and on time. U.S. health works has a shortage of ortho doctors and the last visit I went to he was triple booked. 11:15 became 1:10 to see the Dr. U.S. health works needs to have a contingency plan in place if the Dr is running behind. I'm not blaming Dr.Stidham, however a phone call would have been nice to let me know not to drive 60 plus miles to wait. read more

If unprofessionalism was a person, it would be Dr.Kalle. My mom went to his office as he was recommended by another one of her doctors. Even though I, her daughter was there and could translate for her we chose to ask for a translator as we thought they would be able to explain and describe to doctor better. After waiting over an hour in the room he finally comes back with the "translator" and he was acting stressed out, cursing in front of us-his patients which is extremely rude. We get it you had a long day, but don't take that out on your patients and he most certainly had no right to get mad when we asked for a translator as it is a right every patient has in any doctors office. The attitude he carries and his persona is ridiculous...you're a doctor so act like it. Everyone's experience will obviously be different, but the one we had was absurd. I recommend for future patients to see a different specialist as Dr.Kalle's Patient service is extremely unprofessional and uncalled for. read more
