My husband and I hired Kama'aina Movers for our recent move and had an overall good experience working with Dwayne and his team. From the get go of the initial phone call, Dwayne was professional and respectful, and flexible accommodating our short notice move date. On the morning of the move, Dwayne called to let me now his team was running a few minutes behind. Dwayne and his team movers were fast at packing, loading the van, and transporting our furniture. They finished the job exactly in the 4 hours frame he estimated. Just finished up a very pleasant 2-day moving experience with Kama'aina Movers. Dwayne and his crew were terrific - friendly, organized and strong. They showed up on time and were surprisingly quick in moving our 50+ boxes of "stuff" from our garage and our second floor walk-up apartment in Kapolei to their truck and on to their facility in Honolulu to be stored overnight. The second part of the move involved carting the boxes down to Young Brothers at Pier 40 the next morning to be shipped to the Big Island. Again, Dwayne and his crew were right on time and extremely efficient in offloading our boxes into the container. The only waste of time we experienced was on the part of Young Brothers who took almost an hour to check us in. All-in-all, the process was relatively painless and stress-free. Amazing service from start to finish! From the first phone call all the way through our very efficient move, Duane (and his crew) provided outstanding service. Duane was able to find a time that worked well for us and took the time to provide a thorough quote based on his questions regarding our furnishings. They showed up at precisely the time we were expecting and Duane plus a crew of three (total of four people) got to work immediately. They worked quickly and carefully. They wrapped all of our furniture and disassembled items as appropriate. They had our 2 bedroom upstairs condo plus garage all packed up and onto the truck in just over an hour. They followed us to our new place and unloaded efficiently. They were patient and courteous as we directed them to where to place our furnishings. After everything was in the right location, they unwrapped all of our items and then took the packing material with them. The move was finished in two hours flat. The fees were just as quoted with no hidden surprises. They charge per hour with a minimum of two hours. Called Dwayne to confirm and shift the start time a little to meet the elevator rules at my building and they were very accommodating. Moving day was about as good as it can go. We had everything in BungoBoxes, plus the furniture and some odd shaped pieces. The crew was a little early and got right to work wrapping furniture. Everything got wrapped in the moving blankets and then plastic wrap. All the furniture arrived without damage. The crew was good about lifting--not sliding across my hardwood floors. Overall a very pleasant moving experience. Rates are posted on-line and are exactly as advertised. The crew worked super hard and kept moving at a crazy pace. Marcus and Kimo were very friendly and removed their shoes prior to stepping on my newly cleaned carpet. Larry and his crew did a very good job of moving me on Oct. 20, 2021. I had several pieces that were fragile/glass/sensitive electronic equipment, and they all arrived undamaged and in good condition. Although I did a lot of prep work in advance to add cushioning, bubble wrap, etc., they also shrink-wrapped all these sensitive items to give them additional protection. They also had a system of strapping, carrying, etc., so the items wouldn't get damaged. Only one bed caster sleeve got damaged and I had to jury-rig a replacement (they forgot to shrink-wrap the casters to the frame as I had originally asked because of this issue), but otherwise no other damage. The only other problem was scheduling when it was good for both myself and the neighbors (who needed to go out of the driveway next to my house). It was hard to get Larry to agree to a compatible schedule for all, but in the end it worked out. I would recommend them to others, and would use them again if I had to move again (but god forbid that). ;) read more

On October 26, 2021, I hired Kama'aina Movers to move some items from my storage facility to my townhouse. I told them what items were to be moved (some kitchen shelving and one box.) The box contained mostly COACH handbags and before leaving the storage facility, I opened the box to check the contents. Upon arriving at the townhouse parking area, I opened the box containing the handbags and discovered that it was half empty and the COACH bags were missing. I confronted a man named Larry, and he denied that the bags were taken. I didn't believe him, and I didn't let up on my questioning him and complaining about my missing handbags. Eventually, another employee returned the stolen handbags which he retrieved from their truck. This was outright theft, and I regret not calling the police and filling a report. I had hired Kama'aina Movers on two previous occasions, and now wonder what other items might be missing. I am a female senior citizen who doesn't speak English very well, and I feel that I was taken advantage of. This company cannot be trusted and I will not work with them again. I called this company and they were able to help me out with only a few days notice transitioning from my one bedroom (only taking a few big pieces of furniture) to a new studio due to unfortunate circumstances. The fact that they were able to squeeze me in a day before my flight for the holidays was a life saver . Dwayne was upfront about the costs for everything and we made a game plan for the move. He called me the day of to confirm everything so he'd have enough people / moving pads to help with the move. They moved so quickly and wrapped all my furniture in protective stuff, I couldn't believe how fast they were. Also this move happened for an unfortunate reason and I briefly shared that info with one of the workers when he asked why I was moving, he was so kind to me and sympathized by wanting to read me something from the Bible (even though I'm not religious). Going through a lot right now before the holidays, and that kindness truly made all the difference.. I don't believe I got his name but you know who are and thank you, especially for all the hard work of moving my stuff as a team. Btw I paid in cash, but didn't receive an invoice because we went under the 2 hour limit so it was semi prorated for the hour it took. But no last minute fees or truck fee or anything like that.
