Fish fry fried on the outside and raw inside

I have eaten food on a couple of occasions and the food has been great. But this last time it was very disappointing. We ordered 3 vegetable chop (which were great) and 2 fish fry which were fried on the outside but completed raw on the inside. Will not be returning for fear of food safety.

Simply incredible! As close to home cooked as one can get! Delicately balanced flavors! Hilsa in mustard, rohu, kachori, aloo! Roshogulla! Everything was amazing! Kudos to husband wife team Anup and Debjani!

Amazing experience. The owner was very kind and helpful. The food was fantastic. It's obvious there is so much care in the making of the food. The spice was excellent, everything was delicious! The goat curry and potatoes was the best I ever had! The interior is very cozy and plenty of room for big gatherings! Prestigious and yet relaxing. I highly recommend this restaurant. They are doing the family friendly delicious cuisine the way it was meant to be done!

Finally a restaurant dishing out yummy 'Kolkata'-Bengali food. It was our first time at this place and we tried to taste as many food items as we could. The owners are very friendly and following their suggestion, we started with Kochuri, chholar dal and Alur dom. Loved the trio. Next we tried some amazing fish fries with 'kasundi'. Finally we moved on to the meal items namely 'machh er muro die dal' (fish head cooked with lentils), some alu jhhinge posto, shukto and dhokar dalna (all these veg), rui machher jhhol (fish) and Chilli chicken, with some steaming hot rice. The owners also treated us with some patishapta (rice crepes filled with sweet and grated coconut). The ambience and the food is quite homely, no excessive oil or spice, food that is both good for your stomach and your soul. Will definitely try some more items from this place and overall a worthy visit.

This place was excellent and the owners were very friendly and kind. But, make sure you call and check ahead before making assumptions about eating there. It's unique as far as I have seen, in that they primarily prepare food ahead of time based on individual orders. The things we ate were delicious. Three of us went in for dinner and let them suggest what to eat. See short menu and my so so food pics in the photos here. Three of us ate for $37. If you like Indian food, this is Bengali cuisine, and worth trying. They prefer to make full meals ahead of time for pickup. Not much of a sit down place, but take away a meal. You won't be disappointed!

The price is amazing, the portion size is fantastic, and it was delicious! Recently, we tried the weekend buffet, which was amazing and totally worth it! It's $18 per person but the selection is really great, with both vegetarian and meat dishes offered, and two dessert selections. What I love is that some of their dishes have a kick to them and feel more authentic than other Indian restaurants I've eaten at with respect to the spiciness. While I'm not a fish lover, I loved their fish pakora! It is so flavorful and super easy to overeat. While I loved all of their buffet dishes, the fish pakora and chana masala were my absolute favorites with the butter chicken and paneer tikka masala tying for 2nd. The restaurant is very large and clean, and the servers are very kind and attentive. They were constantly refilling our water and checking in to make sure we had everything we needed. Overall, this is a great spot for Indian food and a great Indian buffet spot. I highly recommend checking it out if you're in the neighborhood.

I have been a die hard raving fan for 12 plus years, maybe 14. The lunch buffet is a daily staple and just phenomenal for the weekend price of $24.80 including tax ( drinks and tip additional). What makes Jassi's in New Hyde Park the Undisputed Champ - 1) The food - the best fried fish ( named Amritsari) that is so good, so flaky and seasoned and prepared so well that that little mint sauce and a sprinkle of lemon will make you dance.. and sing!! I did. The bread - amazing! Hot! Fresh! The biryani - cooked perfect so the spices, veggies and chicken really blend in over the 5 plus hour process. The rice pudding- the real deal. The salad bar has all the ingredients- simple but very good. The raita - yogurt with diced vegetables and a little spice is brilliant and a perfect accompaniment as a salad dressing with the tamarind sauce or on top of the Indian nachos with chips, chick peas and potatoes. 2) The service - Suman is the mainstay and superstar. Been good and really special to my family pre Covid to present day. My grandkids love his energy and his sense of humor. He is just so attentive, kind and proactive. 3) The vibe - there is an ease and relaxed mood that makes this meal and experience enjoyable. 4) The price for this quality now in almost June of 2026. 5) They are open till midnight Friday to Saturday for that late craving. The Undisputed Champ!!!!!

Thanks to Andie for introducing us to Jassi's Fine Indian Buffet, a fairly large establishment…read moreserving a decent variety of Indian dishes. Since our group was the first to arrive upon opening, it's possible that time wasn't allocated for the Chafing Dishes to fully warm all the food. I'm not a fan of hot food being served lukewarm, so that was slightly disappointing. To add to my disappointment Palak Paneer was not an option at the buffet. Something I haven't had in years. Instead, there was Shahi Paneer. This dish, also a part of the lukewarm trend, unfortunately offered dry tasting Paneer. Despite the paneer's dryness, I enjoyed the richness of the Shahi sauce. There was also Goat Curry, which turned out to be the best dish of our group as it was tender and flavorful. The freshly made Garlic Naan was a nice warm treat. Aside from a few misses for me, the seven of us getting together was a success. We ended up chatting amongst ourselves from my timings, had to be well over two and a half hours, while the inclement weather on Saturday, April 25th continued. I must add considering our long stay the staff was more than accommodating. Thank you Andie for yet another successful culinary intro. I went back for seconds (and maybe thirds!) of the palak paneer, chicken tikka masala, goat curry, chana, fresh naan, and Kerala rice. One of my favorite surprises was the moong dal payasam. It was rich, sweet, and comforting, with a porridge-like texture, raisins, and a deep caramel color from the jaggery. It reminded me of a Filipino sweet mung bean dessert, but with Indian flavors. I also ordered a mango lassi. It tasted more yogurt-forward than mango, but it was still refreshing and helped cool down the spice from some of the dishes. The restaurant was clean, and the servers were attentive, quickly refilling our water glasses and clearing plates throughout the meal. Needless to say, goodbye diet for today--this ended up being both my lunch and dinner! When you have the chance to enjoy Indian food this good, it's hard to say no.
