We got the samosa chaat and bhel chaat. It was so savory and good! The samosas were also crispy and delicious. The mint chutney is a perfect complement! Ordered it for delivery and everything was packed well.

On behalf of The Center for the Women of New York, I want to extend a heartfelt thank you to Usha for their incredibly generous and delicious donation to our Taste of the World at Fort Totten gala. They provided dhokla, a traditional steamed savory cake made from chickpea flour, which was an absolute revelation for many of our guests. Light, fluffy, and delicately tangy, it was seasoned with mustard seeds, fresh cilantro, and a hint of chili--offering a unique and refreshing flavor profile that stood out beautifully among the diverse dishes at the event. It was such a pleasure to experience something both unfamiliar and utterly delicious, and our guests were thrilled to try this authentic and thoughtfully prepared treat. It is because of adventurous and community-minded businesses like Usha that we are able to raise vital funds for our mission of supporting women in the New York community. Their generosity not only provided a wonderful culinary experience but also highlighted the importance of sharing diverse cultures and cuisines with our community. We highly recommend Usha for their exceptional dhokla and their tremendous heart. Thank you for introducing us to this delightful dish and for helping make our event an unforgettable success!

Yasss to Usha. In search for the best chaat spot in the tri-state area, I finally found something very good. Usha Food in Long Island. Service is front counter. They had a vast selection of mithai (sweets). Gulaab Jaman for example. Also available were a huge selection of Namkeen ( Indian snacks). We orders the chaat Papri and dahi puri. Both chaats were excellent and vibrant. Plenty of flavor and absolutely delish. I ended up ordering a few more chaat to-go. The place had plenty of seating inside and counter service was very friendly.

I really love coming to Usha but I had change my rating and review as this was the 3rd time in past 5 to 6 visits where I eat from here and have upset stomach issues. I usually eat basic things and everytime recently I have had in past few months were the day I would visit this branch. I'm hoping I am wrong but there's definitely something that's not good which is causing this. Are anyone else having similar issues ???

This is the screw we found when we were eating

Very disturbing experience. We found a sharp nail inside the cauliflower sabji, which was also extremely oily. This is a serious hygiene and safety issue. After eating the food, my family felt sick. Finding a metal object in food is unacceptable and dangerous. This restaurant needs to take food safety and cleanliness seriously. We will not be returning.

Best chaats & my favorite is the dahi puri! Great vegetarian dishes! The kadhi pakora is a must! Happy Yelping.

The service of this business is a 10/10. Always fully staffed whenever I come and everyone is kind and attentive. This is a very reliable place. I have come many times for puri and chole and halwa, for vada and for methai and chai. They have a framed article from Time Out New York about being a top vegetarian spot and I am pretty sure their vada pav was featured. I loveee the spicy peanuts in there and overall everything is fresh tasty and served with kindness.

Loved everything here , friendly staff very helpful and happy to assist. This is just some of what was ordered, everything was delicious.

Great service. Folks here are always friendly and smiling. The food is good and a wide variety of Indian street food and some South Indian dishes as well. If you are looking for good food, quick and friendly service, this is the place to go to.

Greasy motichoor ladoos with no taste

I celebrate Diwali with my friends and family who live in queens NY and always stop at this location to buy sweets. I stopped by this location yesterday to buy sweets. When we opened the sweet boxes this morning and tried the sweets it was the most bitter experience ever. Thr sweets had no taste and were stale. Besan burfi was not fully roasted and had color added to it. Dhodha burfi had a layer of palm oil grease on it and without taste. Pateesa had no flavor and crunchiness. Paneer pakora was hard as a rock. This place used to have good food and snacks but over time the quality has gone down the drain. Will never visit this place again.

Samosa Chaat. A tone of sweet, sour, spicy and savory all at once.

Five flavor plate - a nice amuse-bouche that went through a series of flavors: Hawthorne jelly for sour, yams for sweet - butter melon jelly for bitter, mushroom.and black pepper for spicy, and radish cracker for salty. The bitter melon was my favorite and definitely wasn't that better - it had pleasant spices almost like a chutney. Next was mushrooms in a light cucumber sauce, followed by a savory and thick 18 vegetable soup. This was a nice back to back contrast of light and simple with rich and hearty. The next three courses were aiming to imitate meat a little more. The first was a grilled mushroom over fragrant green millet. Then, sweet and sour tofu skin, and another grilled mushroom covered in a curry sauce. Of these, the tofu skin was my favorite as the bright course in between the savory ones. Next was rice in a savory broth with peach jelly, and then a nutty noodle dish with a smooth and creamy sauce with a nice blend of spices. These helped round out the meal, and the noodles were especially tasty. To end was a dessert made from berries and sweet potato, almost with the texture of ice cream. Reservation is required and the meal is prepaid except for tip. The whole thing came to about $130 each after tax and tip. I found the meal to be less heavy than most other tasting menus and very creative.
