Had a nice dinner here with friends. Ramen was OK but service was quick and the sides were honestly tastier than expected. It's a fairly small establishment, only a handful of tables but we came on a weekday so we were seated right away. The broth for the chicken katsu ramen was pretty mild and not very rich (I actually prefer this but not as authentic). The katsu also didn't seem very fresh but overall it was ok! The bbq bao/pork bun was actually very good and there was a lot of meat so would def recommend that. Nice location and have many options to walk around for dessert after :)

I came here for lunch on a Friday afternoon, since that's the only day during the week that they're open for lunch. This place is small and cozy and only had one table being occupied when I arrived. I was able to get seated right away, and also quickly put my order in. The workers here really very friendly and welcoming. I ordered their Pork Belly Ramen, it came out fast and very delicious. I will say that it was just a tad bit on the pricey side by a couple of dollars, but deliciousness made up for it. I guess I'd rather pay a few dollars more to get this than a few dollars less to get mediocre food. The pork belly is probably one of the best pork belly I've ever had. It was very tender, and flavorful. The broth also had a lot of flavor. The broth was thick but just wish I would have gotten some more noodles. I also ordered some fried gyoza to go and they were also pretty good. It is without a doubt of my favorite ramen spots in the city and wouldn't hesitate returning.

To clear up any confusion this place has no affiliation with Kameya Sushi on Webster ( but per our waiter the owners are friends which is odd... ) This is a cute barebones little restaurant with about 10 tables. Chose from a variety of ramen, bim bim boop or sushi . Went with the seafood ramen and made it spicy ( they basically bring out a ton of spicy chile sauce to add to your desire ). Husband chose the tempura ramen. Both very good. Hit the spot on a gloomy cold Chicago night. Service is friendly and fast. Prices are very fair. Recommend.

This was our first time here and I can't believe we've missed coming here sooner. We loved it! I had the Gyoza Ramen and it was great. Be sure to ask for the spicy garlic paste on the side and scoop in a couple of spoonfuls. The chicken broth was delicious! And the gyoza's were fantastic too. My bride had the vegetarian Ramen, which was heaped with plenty of fresh veggies and tofu. She asked for same chicken broth and loved it too. The service was great too. Never pushy and mellow vibe. We will be back.

Delicious. BYOB. Don't go wrong, get the chicken katsu ramen. You won't regret it. Went on a Tuesday night and no one was there.

Pretty average food but good service during lunch. Witnessed a weird interaction where one of the employees told a dad and his 3 kids to not return to the restaurant when they were leaving. Yes the kids were kinda loud but they weren't really bothering anyone so this reaction by the business wasn't necessary and turned me off!!

The first "gourmet" ramen I ever had was at Kameya's other location on Webster in Lincoln Park, a quaint dining room with attentive servers and wonderfully delicious options. Last night, perhaps inspired by the freezing slush descending from the heavens, I decided to get takeout from this location on Belmont. It was just as great as I remembered. I'll start by complimenting the to-go packaging, which, if we've learned anything with takeout over the pandemic, can truly make or break the meal. The main ingredients (lightly breaded chicken, egg, etc) were perfectly cooked, placed neatly in a bowl, and wrapped for freshness. The broth was in a separate container, ready to be heated and poured over the aforementioned deliciousness. This was exactly what I needed last night, and will likely be a go-to for the rest of the winter!

This has become one of my favorite ramen spots. Service was amazing, sushi was amazing and the chicken katsu ramen topped with the spicy garlic crunch is life changing. The fried chicken filet stayed crispy even while in the broth and when paired with the fresh cilantro gave a fresh and earthy kick.. I opted for the chicken broth instead of the miso base and when I say it was some of the best broth I'd ever had, I was tempted to ask for a gallon to go. Ambiance was great, a really chill laid back vibe that was also BYOB for those into that. Definitely would recommend.

    Chicken katsu ramen with kimchi

I literally brought in a pair of boots to be repaired at a shoe repair shop next door and decided to visit this tiny Japanese restaurant because I was in the mood for ramen. I came here open minded and hopeful especially because the restaurant layout itself is extremely adorable and the seating here is quite cozy with benches so that you can recline and relax. The menu itself was quite basic and I took note that the sign on their door stated this location no longer serves sushi. The only options here were appetizers and simple ramen options. I decided to pick the Korean kimchi with chicken katsu. Within minutes a huge bowl full of broth, onions, a half of an egg kimchi, shredded cabbage, noodles and breaded chicken slices came out to me by the restaurant owner. I found the soup to be pleasant tasting but was disappointed at the lack of heaviness and lack of vegetables and chicken. I paid $16 and yet the noodles were mixed with a farfalle shaped or bow tie shaped combination that was mixed in with their thinner noodles. I was puzzled as to why the soup wasn't laden with more ingredients and as a result I actually left quite hungry. I did live in Schaumburg during covid and I guess I became accustomed to traditional mom and pop authentic ramen houses in the suburbs. Today I literally left hungry after my bowl of Ramen and honestly this is THE FIRST TIME I received a bowl of ramen that wasn't rich and heavy. I'm quite the foodie and over the years I've enjoyed many dining experiences and tasted a large variety of ramen so I think I'm a pretty good judge. Another thing that irked me though even more was a large, rowdy group of young adults came in about fifteen minutes after I was seated and they were all shouting over one another so the setting and ambiance here was no longer peaceful. I actually felt sick about 40 minutes later. Some ingredients in my ramen soup didn't agree with my sensitive stomach. I feel for the hefty price of $16 my high expectations were not met. I'm extremely picky though about ramen so perhaps my personal opinions are based on the fact that I have been privy to some of the better ramen shops I found in the suburbs. As a result of this mediocre dining experience I have no reason to return here. The soup itself was decent enough but definitely not worth the price because the broth wasn't heavy enough and the chicken portion and vegetable portion was lacking.

Kameya is a small ramen and sushi restaurant with great music, no frills, and awesome food. It's byob and has a variety of ramen choices and sushi rolls to choose from. Service is excellent and quick. We started with the tuna tower and cheese balls upon recommendation, and both were phenomenal. The cheese balls were like a chewy fried crab Rangoon- so delicious and unique! The tuna tower was a nice ceviche type dish with amazing sauce. For our entrees, we ordered the ramen with bulgogi meatballs (another recommendation) and 911 salmon roll. The ramen was very flavorful and spicy, and the bulgogi meatballs were a nice touch. The 911 salmon roll was deliciously spicy and a good portion. We also had green tea ice cream to finish the meal, which was a nice refreshing touch! Definitely would recommend this place for ramen and sushi- a perfect casual night out in lakeview for good food!

The chicken ramen was also extremely underwhelming, ZERO FLAVOR in the broth and the chicken!!!!! The meat itself was very moist, but the broth honestly tastes like a can of low sodium chicken broth. Really embarrassing excuse for ramen. I really expected more out of this place. Can't compete with A-tier Asian food in other areas. Service was pretty poor too. All my previous personal experiences…read morehave always proven to me that restaurants with names that don't represent their culture in distinct ways are generally subpar. For example, I would usually never even think to step into a restaurant named Best China House, Sushi Bistro, or Mom's Korean Restaurant. (Apologies if your shops are named as such. These were meant to be generic examples) Oh, how times have changed. I would have never thought having a bowl of ramen at a Monster Ramen would give me this much pleasure. Part of it will (in fact, most of it) be on me and my general philosophy on fusion cuisine and outdated gemerational gap. There was definitely a time when avoiding agorementioned type of restaurants may have been deemed smart. But I feel the new generation of restaurant owners and chefs have up'd their games in not only at better food making, but also accepting of a bit more irony. Anyone who knows me knows how much I stay away from trying anything "fusion." It's kinda funny to myself how hypocritical it is that I would be totally okay in substituting an ingredient or two when I'm missing some when cooking, but when it comes to paying money to sit and eat that I would judge chefs by thier style of cooking. Yes, a big part of it is based on a large pool of personally gathered data, but I do acknowledge that I need to open myself up a bit more. Case in point. I was recommended MR by a fellow Yelper and I decided to give it a whirl. I happened to have a friend and his son with me, so I was able to do small tastings of 3 different ramen. And boy, was I pleasantly surprised. We collectively had bowls of shio, shoyu and miso specials. Plus, I ended up getting the Summer Special bowl to go for my wife. All of them had their individual charm to them but more importantly, each of them were made to perfection when it came to broth seasoning and noodle texture, which are THE two most important aspect of ramen, in my opionion. Not too salty nor bland soup. Perfectly dense noodles. I just loved all four! It wad when I tasted the yuzu in tgeir shio ramen that my wife would love it. Even though I brought her the spicy Sunmer version home, I still think it'll be worth bringing her and our daughter back when we get a chance to. Our server Dionne (I think) was most pleasant and helpful. The atmosphere of the restaurant was great, too.
