After two desserts, it was time for something savory again. XiLe BBQ 洗了烧烤 is a vendor that's…read morelocated on the corner of 138th St and 39th Ave, known for their Northwestern Chinese-style skewers. There are at least 15 different skewer options, along with other fun fried snacks and vegetables. The skewers are grilled over charcoal, and the smoke was so prominent that we had to stand 10-15 feet away to avoid it. We knew it was going to be worth it. We got a couple of each chicken gizzard, lamb kebab, chicken heart, beef kebab, and pork belly ($2 each), listed in the order of my personal favorites. I loved the crunch of the chicken gizzard the most and honestly could have eaten at least five of them myself. The lamb kebab wasn't too gamey, and the cumin seasoning was perfection. The other three kebabs were flavorful, but weren't quite as memorable. Overall, the skewers had an intensely charred, smoky flavor that's hard to replicate without a charcoal grill. This was easily one of my favorite stalls out of everything we tried this past Sunday afternoon! 8/16/2026 Flushing Food Crawl #6 of 11

They have various protein kebabs as well as fried items. We went for a Lamb Kebab and a Beef Kebab, and you can request it to be 'regular' or 'spicy' (we opted for the latter); these skewers are grilled-to-order, so they come piping hot! There were a few fatty pieces here and there, but overall, both were juicy and a nice little snack. Staff were super friendly! Bring cash to make it easier. +skewers +friendly staff

TLDR: If you're looking for a quick meal, King Souvlaki has always scratched the itch. I've been going to King Souvlaki for many years. Nowadays you can also order on UberEats/DoorDash but for the best, just go in-person of course. The Greek Fries are great with olive oil and feta but it is a large portion. I believe you can now upgrade the platter fries so you can get to taste the flavor without it being over the top. Our go to order is the platter but you can never go wrong with a sandwich either. The rice is seasoned well and with the tzatziki sauce and small salad - it's always a good plate. They do also have chicken options but beef/lamb is the way to go in my opinion. The gyro is has great flavor but it's also not overly greasy like some places.

My only complaint was the tzatziki sauce. It was much thicker than expected and had a stronger tartness, rather than the creamy, smooth texture I was hoping for. That was a little disappointing, but overall, it was still a solid meal.
