It was my first time having Chinese BBQ cart skewers and I was an instant fan. I've gone back a bunch, taking other people with me. By far my favorites are the lamb, pork, and enoki mushroom, ordered spicy of course. The lamb is so tender, and the mushrooms are just so fun to eat. They're slippery, they are hard to chew, they don't break apart, they get stuck in my teeth, and I end up swallowing large bites which are covered in that spicy sauce and make me choke and...I just love it! I can't explain it, there's something about the chewiness and heat that while inconvenient, I really enjoy. The beef is also solid. The squid is OK. The chicken gizzards are not bad, I'm still developing a taste for them but they are not overcooked and tough here. The only thing I'd say to skip are the shrimp, they come out with their shells still on and are just rubbery. Cash only, if it's not obvious. If you buy something like $20 or more they give you a free soda. They have some stools set up if you want to eat it right there, but they're usually under the awning of New Golden Sparkling market and well, there's a lot of birds and bird poop there. I would just walk with it. There are lots of BBQ carts up and down Broadway, but I think the meat here is the best (not tough or fatty), and the service is always great. The main guy manning the grill doesn't speak too much English, but there's usually a younger guy helping him who does. Even without the help, ordering is easy, you just say the type of skewer you want, how many, and if you want it spicy. If you're really struggling, point! But it's never come to that.

Since then they have expanded to 71st and also have a location on Northern Blvd and 155 street. At least those are all the locations I know. So food wise it's tasty, rice is good, lamb is good and chicken is good. The problem that I've come across is over the last 2 years, the portions have become really inconsistent. It really depends on who is manning the cart but more times than not you will get a ridiculously small portion, in my case I would need 2 to be full, and no I'm not a big guy. The only one person that is a constant is the boss (always claims he's not the boss), tall guy with glasses, but he's been there for well 20 years so either he's the boss or they have a really good health plan. Anyways, still one of my favorite spots but it's become a bit of a hassle when I have to look to see if it's one of the guy's that I know doesn't gift little tiny half portions.

I first saw this Korean food truck when I was picking up some sushi from across the street. Then, I was craving soondae (also known as Korean blood sausage) the following day and decided to try it out. There was one place that I used to go to but that place closed years ago. Other places I've tried were mediocre at best. The first time around, I ordered soondae ($8) and stir-fried soondae ($10). The stir-fried soondae contained soondae, cabbage, vermicelli noodles, slices of rice cake, onions, and some bean sprouts. The sauce, made from korean pepper paste, was fairly spicy. So if you are not able to handle spicy food, stick with regular soondae or have a large cup of water handy. I really enjoyed this dish and the price was worth it for their portion. You also get a small salad with your order. The next time I visited, I bought the $13 stir-fried soondae and an order of soondae. The $13 stir-fried soondae contained all the above along with other organ meats such as kidney, liver, and innards. After finishing the stir-fried soondae, I grabbed the regular soondae and dipped it in the leftover sauce. It tasted pretty darn good like that! I am unable to comment on the other dishes they have on their menu but their soondae is pretty solid. I will definitely continue to buy my soondae from this place so long as the taste and portion remains the same.
