Holy cow, what a great massage. Was visiting friends who live in the hills nearby and decided to try this little place for a Thai massage. Great decision. I messaged them through Yelp and was answered within minutes. They were able to accommodate three of us within the hour. The older woman who massaged me didn't speak any English but it wasn't really necessary. Not sure how such a small person has such strong hands! My friend & I went on a random trip down to SoCa the weekend before my birthday. She had never done any type of spa treatment before, I stumbled upon their Groupon for a 60-min couples massage / scrub. Making an appointment was very easy as I called the facility to tell them what I wanted & about my groupon, told them the date & time I was looking at, then received confirmation that my appointment was set up! A whole week before & we were excited to find out what this was all about. The place itself is not that small but not very spacious. We arrived promptly and were asked to wait a few minutes for them to finish with the clients before us. While waiting, we were shown the different scrubs and asked to choose 1; I decided on rejuvenate. Once ready, they asked us to undress, put on the robes & shower shoes, then head over to their "scrub room." It was located next to the facility's laundry station. The actual room itself is a shower room, but felt nothing different like a shower at the gym. That sort of icky musty feeling. My friend & I sat side by side while each lady scrubbed us down from neck down to our feet (they don't go into any private areas) After rinsing off the scrub, we were brought to our massage room for the quickest 10 minutes. Apparently the 60 minutes INCLUDED the time it would take us to rinse, change, what have you.. that we were not aware of! Sigh, maybe it was a good thing as my friend was very sensitive to any pressure her lady applied to her neck & back. Mine was decent, but like I said 10 minutes isn't enough to even relax. The ladies tending to us were awesome, they chatted with us throughout our time and we had a good couple laughs all 4 of us. Worst massage experience ever. The two words I would use to describe it are "unprofessional" and "inappropriate". I'm just gonna start from the beginning, but here's a tldr first... Tldr; they make you pay up front, watch to see if you tip on the card, come into the room while you're still undressing, stay in the room while you're redressing, touch you inappropriately and giggle while doing it, ignore you when you ask them to focus on a certain area or to NOT touch another area (like your butt), and chase you down for a tip that THEY deem good enough, all while pretending not to understand phrases like "do you have change" or "no not ready yet". 100% fuck this place and the people running it. I went for a 60 minute massage, but instead asked for a 30min massage because the vibes felt VERY weird, but I still needed help with my neck and shoulder. The 30min costs $40, and they charged me for it up front, not at the end, which means you have to decide whether to tip or not BEFORE receiving any service unless you have cash. And two women stood there watching me sign the receipt. Once in the room, I was undressing for less than 1 minute before she knocked and asked if I was ready, and when I replied "no, not yet", she opened the door anyway. I figured it didn't really matter cuz I was gonna be seen on the table in just underwear, but it's just a professional courtesy to let someone undress without being watched. She started the massage with no oil for several minutes, just dry hands on my dry skin, and was basically just rubbing my body from my neck to the top of my butt. Then asked if I was ok with oil and laughed when I answered "sure" and repeated the word back at me kind of mockingly. I told her at the START that I was there very specifically for my right shoulder and right side of my neck, but during this 30 minute massage, I must have repeated this 5-6 more times because she would say "ok" and then leave that area after 30 seconds to a minute. I intentionally, and almost exclusively, spoke ONLY when she was working on the knots in my shoulder and neck because I was trying to get her to stay there, but she wouldn't. She spent WAY too much time "massaging" my butt. At one point I even said "I don't need any work down there, just up here" and gestured to my right shoulder and neck area, but again that didn't deter her. Toward the end, she was running her hands up and down my legs and twisting them inward toward my inner thigh when she'd get close to my ass. Maybe some people go into this place for that kind of service, but I'm a very vocal person, so if they continued to attempt feeling ME up, I can only imagine what they do to people who don't speak out against it. She left to get a hot towel for the oil and I looked and saw there was only 5 min left, so I stayed to get the oil off, but I almost just walked out right then. This is when she started twisting her hands inward toward my inner thigh and she started giggling. When she said I was done, she didn't leave the room, so I immediately got up and started getting dressed. She continued to giggle and left the room while I finished getting dressed. I tried to rush out of that place as quick as I could, but the moment I left the room, she noticed and followed quickly to the door and berated me about a tip. I asked if they had cash so I could get change and they said "yes, cash". I said "do you have change" and they said "yes, change". I said I would just go to starbucks and get change but they said no. They would not provide any change or even show that they had cash there, so I pulled a 20 (the only cash I had) out of my wallet. She took it and said "10?" to which I replied "no, I need 15 back". She said "10?" AGAIN and I replied the same way, but slightly more annoyed. Then she scoffed very loudly and started very obviously cursing me out in another language as she walked away with my 20 while the woman at the front desk just smiled at me and giggled creepily, knowing I had no idea what the "masseuse" was saying about me. Then the "masseuse" came back around the corner with my 20 and asked for 10 again! When I said no, she gave me my 20 back and started bitching about me in another language again. So I said sorry disingenuously as I took my 20 and left while watching my back. Who the fuck tips $10 (25%) on a 30min/$40 massage, ESPECIALLY while they're attempting to force it out of you? These women are disgusting and running a scam. The massage felt like one I would receive from a partner or a friend, not from someone who should be presumed to be a trained professional. Someone at the desk told me it changed management, were no longer honoring the coupon and that they would refund me, which they didn't. Never heard from anyone, so made a dispute through the credit card company i used. Initially I did receive a temporary refund, but Groupon disputed it, since it wasn't their fault.. and the refund was reversed.. so, back and forth with the credit card.. no way to contact Groupon.. not sure if I even tried to call Kanok again, but .. at this point.. I'm venting since I already spent hours on NOT GETTING A MASSGE.. In conclusion.. thanks a lot for the shady business move.. !! We drove about an 1 hr to the location only to be disappointed. The owner did not accept the groupon and was trying to have us pay over $120 for a basic massage. I walked into this spa because my husband had given me a massage birthday gift through Groupon. Without me saying a word the two people looked at me and were like... We don't take Groupon. No, hello, no, welcome. Just... we don't take Groupon. My husband had purchased the Groupon 2-3 weeks before that day and called to make a reservation. The day before my appointment he had been emailed a reservation confirmation for my appointment. They told me they had no reservations for that morning. They then told me there was nothing they could do, but for me to contact Groupon to get my money back. Never once did they offer to actually make me an appointment or treat me in a way that would make me want to go there again. This is not how you do business. The massage is a joke unless you like feather light strokes. The hot stones were also applied with literally no pressure at all so the add on was a complete waste of money. The only thing that was cool at all was the body scrub which my boyfriend and I enjoyed, but it was honestly hard to even want to tip them because we got so little out of it. Our massage was not 60 min - it was cut to at most 45 min. The body scrub was supposed to be 30 min, but they only did one pass over and then left us in the shower room. Bring your own flip flops if you decide to go; you definitely shouldn't because they don't have uniform spa slippers. It's like they brought flip flops from home and want you to wear them. I unfortunately had the worst massage experience of my life at this establishment. I did purchase a Groupon for a 90 min couples massage to be fair, so I wasn't expecting amazing things, but this went way below my expectations. To start off, both therapists showed up about 15-17 minutes late. My partner said he had an amazing experience with his therapist but my therapist didn't seem like she knew what she was doing. She never touched my hands or feet and spent about half of the time just pushing on random muscles. It hurt quite a bit in some spots. At one point she said "Be right back." And physically left the building to go out to the parking lot... in the middle of my massage.. And didn't return for a good 5-7 minutes, so I was just sitting there staring off into space, listening to my partner enjoy his massage while I had nothing. It was very awkward. She then didn't stay an extra 15 minutes, as she should have, to make up for showing up late. But the other therapist did, so again, I was sitting there for 15 solid minutes listening to my partner enjoy his massage while I had nothing. Again, very awkward. I had some pain in my shoulder and I left with more pain than I had before the massage. She talked a fair bit during the massage. Her voice was quite distinctively loud and irritating, which I know isn't her fault, but to be so loud in what is supposed to be a relaxing massage really threw me off. I also heard her phone going off a lot and it felt like she was texting and replying to messages in the middle of my massage! I had such a great massage from Jasmine! I don't like deep tissue -I really like medium pressure. I explained this to Jasmine & she constantly checked in with me to see if I needed less pressure or more pressure. She even asked if I was okay with having my feet massaged as some people are sensitive. The owner & I chatted after my appointment. She is friendly & concerned about her clients. The prices are great! I will be back!! 2nd Review-- This is my 3rd visit to this spa & it's going to be my last. Jasmine & Amy no longer work there & they gave me great massages in the past. This is my 4th time visiting Kanoka Spa. I called to schedule another appointment with Nicole (Which was great), but I was told she no longer works there. Amy scheduled me with another girl. I asked for a 90 minutes massage. I was charged for 90 minutes (In Advance where I usually pay after the massage and before leaving the place) but I only got 60 minutes of massage (Another word I got ripped off). Massage was not that great, the girls phone was with her inside the room and her phone was notifying her of calls or messages. At one point I felt the girl was texting with one hand while she was giving me a massage with the other hand (WTH), she only massaged my back and totally forgot to massage the front part of my body. I have no idea what happened to this place, but be aware their service is NOT the same as before (At least that was my experience with this girl)!!! I am writing because I had purchased a groupon for the 90 minute massage. I had called on 12/29 at 1037am to make an appointment for the same day and was given an appointment time of 7pm. I even called back at 630pm to confirm the appointment and ask if there was parking. I was told there is parking on site and to come in. When I arrived for the appointment, I was met by Alice and she informed me that the other person had left just 20 minutes before arriving for our appointment. When I informed of making the appointment, she apologized and said that the only way she could help was to do two separate 90 minute massages. This defeated the purpose of doing a couple massage and would take 3 hours and leave the other person waiting for 90 minutes alone. Alice was apologetic and said that she could reschedule for 12/30 at 5pm and include body scrub and aromatherapy for the inconvenience. We said that's fine and that we would be back the next day for the couple massage. We then showed up at 445pm on 12/30 for our appointment only to see that it was closed. We called the business phone and left messages and am even sent the business an email. We waited until 5:30pm and no one showed for our 2nd appointment. I am now extremely upset and do not know how a business operates like this. I have now wasted 2 evenings planning for a relaxing massage only to be stressed out more by ten times then i was before. I have not been called back from messages left from yesterday and today and don't know how a business like this can stay open with this type of dysfunctional business operation. read more

I love coming to this spa. The owner and all of the women that work there are attentive and friendly. It's a very relaxing environment right next to a great pizza place, a health restaurant, a Starbucks, and a park, so I just make a whole day out of my amazing massage if I can. The body scrub is great! If you've done it before it's above average scrub, if you haven't done it before I guess be open to it? It's included in some massages. After reading really great reviews on yelp I was excited to get a massage here as I had been experiencing a lot of tension in my upper back and shoulders. I felt like the massage was at best mediocre. I received the combination massage. I told the masseuse where my trouble area was and I didn't receive any focus on that area at all besides what the full body massage included. They didn't have the time I wanted, so I took the time that they gave me... 5PM. As I started to head over there - mind you, my commute was almost an hour long - I get a text message from someone at the salon saying that they're pushing my appointment back another 20 minutes because they had another appointment who showed up late. Being that I was already on the way, I had no choice. When I got there at the new time that they text me about, there was no one at the front desk. The masseuse that was on duty came out of her room, to inform me that even though I was on time for my new appointment, she couldn't take me because they had just gotten a walk-in? When I told her about being reschedule to show up at that time, she shrugged her f***ing shoulders and walked away. A few minutes later, another lady walked out and asked me to wait ANOTHER 20 minutes in one of the rooms, and they would be with me. Yesterday before heading to Las Vegas I stopped into my favorite places in LA the Kanok Spa for a 90 minute deep tissue for my lower back, legs and shoulders. I was greeted by a very pleasant masseuse whose name I forgot but this massage I absolutely will always remember and come back again as soon as possible. I usually have problems with my IT band in lower back and hamstrings and she was able to work out the knots and massage my legs till I felt like I'm going to run a marathon. The spa as always was very clean, pleasantly aromatic very professional the staff was very pleasant provided me multiple waters to drink upon my exit and it is just incredible overall experience. I used to go here a lot as it had an amazing girl there who gave incredible deep tissue massages with back walking and everything. But unfortunately the establishment has gone seriously downhill. I recently went in for a "deep tissue" massage and made it clear I absolutely didn't want someone simply spreading oil on my body. Well, the massage ended up being okay at best, but the kicker was upon paying the girl who massaged me LITERALLY TOLD ME MY GRATUITY WASN'T ENOUGH! A few months back I purchased a 60 minute couples massage Groupon to this spa. I called and made an appointment in advance, and the time of the appointment was confirmed over the phone the morning of. When we got to the spa, no one greeted us at the door, so we sat down. A woman came out a few minutes later and checked on us. She said that she was currently in the middle of a massage, and to hold on a minute. When she got back to us she asked if we could come back later because there was not anyone available to give us our massages. She said that she was the only person there and she still needed to finish the massage she was doing and that the other woman wouldn't be there for another 2 hours. I was shocked. We had spoken over the phone only a few hours earlier and she did not mention anything. Needless to say, we left. I tried to exchange the Groupon, but of course I was unable to. So, I decided to give them the benefit of the doubt and I scheduled another appointment. This time I scheduled it a week in advance and clarified multiple times, that it was a couples massage and it requires two masseuses. To be extra careful, I called the morning of the appointment to confirm, but they didn't answer so I left a message asking them to call me back and confirm. They never did; however, only 45 minutes before the appointment, I received a text from the spa which said the following: Hi Sir,this is Kanok Spa. we have to cancel your appointment around 4pm couple massage because we have to remould today, too much noise to take clients, please reschedule, sorry for your inconvenience! I was/am extremely upset. As much as I'd love to review the massages themselves, I am unable to because of how terrible the employees and customer service were. If it were possible, I'd give this spa no stars whatsoever. read more

I get there and the lady takes me to my room before I could even step into the room she stops and says tip ten dollars. I said okay but she kept repeating it over and over. She didn't speak a lick of English neither did the other girl working with her. She then grabbed her cellphone and showed me a message the read "$10 gratuity is mandatory" so I said okay again and she finally let me go into the room to change. In the middle of our session she answers her phone that kept going off. She used the hot stones for 5 minutes. Then she took me toward the room for the scrub but I had to wait until the other person was done. When we got in there she only scrubbed the lower part of my legs and my arms and then left the room for me to wash up. It was so ridiculous. The worst massage experience I have ever had. I will never go back to this place. Gratuity is earned. I brought $15 in cash for her tip. But she didn't even deserve $10. read more
