Kansai was great! I was a bit skeptical based on the reviews, but I thought the fish quality was amazing. We ordered the sushi and sashimi dinner combo plus the rainbow roll, and it was definitely a ton of food and worth the price point. If you're looking for a variety of different fish, I'd definitely recommend it. Service was fast as well. Looking forward to going back!

Such a great experience here! Staff is very kind and sufficient. Huge variety of food and drink options. Everything we ordered came out quickly, and the staff was very friendly and welcoming. We'll definitely be coming back and would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for great food and excellent service!

My favorite thing to get here is the baked muscles and the hamachi kama. They are both absolutely amazing and such a great deal for the price. I'm not crazy about their sushi, but again everything here is reasonably priced and gets the job done for my taste buds. The customer service is okay. They are fast and always informative with regards to any questions or inquiries I have. I also appreciate that they are open late. Whenever I come in people are cleaning and making sure the ambience is up to par. I definitely would recommend this restaurant to others and will continue to visit myself.

Amazing service and GREAT sushi. Was truly impressed by the ambience and energy of this place. Perfect place for a Friday night dinner. Love this place!!!

This was my first time dining here, and the atmosphere was nice. We started with appetizers: tuna tataki and spicy tuna salad. The flavors weren't very Japanese, and the spicy tuna salad in particular was a bit too mushy for my taste. The seaweed that came with it was also a little soggy and wilted rather than crisp. I also ordered a spicy tuna hand roll, which was decent. For the rolls, I tried the Wendy Roll and the Lion King Roll. Both were quite creamy and heavy, so I found myself needing extra wasabi (though their wasabi wasn't very spicy). The portions overall were very large, so you definitely get a lot of food for the price. Overall, the food was decent and filling, though not especially memorable. I wouldn't call it authentic Japanese sushi--it leans more toward American-style rolls. That said, the happy hour prices are very reasonable and make it worth trying if you enjoy that style. What really stood out was the service. The staff checked on us often, made sure everything was okay, and cleared the table quickly so it didn't feel cluttered. For service, I'd give a full five stars. For food, about three stars--good enough to enjoy, but not outstanding. Overall, it was a pleasant experience.

Love the service! Great food! Good price! Ambiance was good. They have a parking spot for costumer if you're lucky to arrive on not so busy time. Check my IG post @ladyg.adventures I will recommend this place.

Kansai is a great place for good food and good vibes. Service was fast even on a busy evening. I usually order to go but decided to dine in this time and so glad I did. They have all day happy hour on Sunday so we took the opportunity to try lots of items on the menu. The Lion King, shrimp tempura roll, shrimp dumplings, soft shell crab, and veggie tempura were all delicious and filling. My glass of plum wine was the perfect complement to my meal.

Service was great. Got a heavy pour on the Midori sour. Happy hour is a good deal. Mixed tempura came with one shrimp, two broccoli, a piece of sweet potato, one piece of red pepper, and one piece of Kubota squash. Got the albacore garlic hand roll for $5 and it was decent sized. Sashimi came with 3 salmon pieces and 3 red fish tuna slices. Tuna tasted coppery... hamachi collar which isn't on the happy hour menu was good. Definitely do not order the fresh wasabi. It isn't freshly grated wasabi...rather a branded mixture that has the cheap horseradish wasabi mixed with water and jalapeño pieces and raw garlic. If you're used to americanized sushi then this place for happy hour is good.

Came here for a quick dinner and really enjoyed the rolls. Sushi was very fresh and satisfied my craving. They came with miso soup which I don't love but gave it to my sister. I also got their princesses cocktail that was so cute. The service could've been a little better. There were only three other tables and we had to get the servers attention any time we needed something.

The good: fresh, quality ingredients The bad: started with the host/wait list. I accidentally added my name twice for a solo diner. Host thought it was a mistake and completely removed me from the wait list and seated other parties that came in after me. Thoroughly confused - she didn't even call my name to confirm so I had to go up to her and ask. No apology either. Was seated at the counter where solo diners usually sit. Service was non existent. Server came up to me and ask "what would you like to order?" I've never been there before. No "hi my name is ... I'll be your server" nada. They're just a machine - people in people out. The ramen - broth was fine. The squiggly noodles aren't my favorite. Expected to have kernel corn but had corn ribs instead (good thing I'm good with chopsticks!) The charshu was just okay. Enoki topping was just ... aight. The nice touch was that they didn't put it in the ramen and served it on the side to preserve its crunchiness because it definitely needed the texture! It was loud, busy, and nothing spectacular about the dining scene here. $55 dollars later (ramen, 2 additional toppings, one box of sake) ... I sadly don't think it was worth it.

A simple menu allows the customers to order quickly and for the restaurant to crank out the items for fast turnover. As others have mentioned, it's less of an Omakase and more of a sushi or sashimi set. Mujiri definitely have their business model set up well in practice. The thing that has always been lacking has been the service. Through my three times here, dine in and take out guests are always waiting until they get some attention from whichever staff gets flagged down while they're in the middle of something else. During my most recent visit, the order predicted an online pick up of 40-50 minutes. I ended up taking my time leaving the gym and arrived at the 40 minute mark. Waited around and noticed my delivery ETA shifted for another 10 minutes. Once the 10 minutes were up I tried to flag a staff, and they told me it would be another 15 minutes. Through watching the orders, they had obviously not even started on my order yet. It was literally 30 minutes before closing when I got my order. It also didn't make sense as there wasn't much turnover for the dine in customers. They definitely need a better system as it was apparent that me and five other parties easily waited an additional 30 minutes each with no real explanation. It's unacceptable for a restaurant to neglect customers or giving timely updates and expect a disingenuous apology would make up for it. I admit that I like that offerings, but for the actual quantity and poor service, this place is severely overrated.

The price is reasonable for the variety, for the bay, and the sushi is fresh and tasted great. The restaurant itself is elegant and cute. Highlights for me were all the Japanese fish, which are specially curated and killed with a technique to reduce fish stress. The taste was close to what I got in Japan, and each coming piece was exciting. The sashimi courses at the beginning were also amazingly crafted, especially the first tuna course. Where it lost a star for me was 1) the amount of food was quite small. In total it was about 17 courses, but each is essentially one small piece of sushi. They did give a large hand roll at the end but I still didn't feel full. I did order one supplemental piece, but the other two options weren't interesting to me. What makes this place so special is their fish supplier, famed Japanese fish concierge Hiroshi Hasegawa. He's known for sourcing rare and unusual fish that are rarely sold commercially, and he sometimes even free-dives to catch them himself. Sushi Salon is currently the only restaurant in the United States that he supplies, which means you truly won't get this exact experience anywhere else. The rice alone deserves its own praise. The vinegar they use is only supplied to a select few in the U.S., and in my opinion, it was the best sushi rice I've ever had. I could honestly eat the rice on its own. The space is incredibly intimate, with only seven seats per seating at 5:00pm and 7:30pm. Watching each course being prepared right in front of us made the entire experience feel personal and immersive. Every piece of fish was excellent, but the standouts for me were the saba, uni, medai, ninjin, and kegani. Joji Nonaka and Anna Osawa were wonderful hosts. They engaged with guests throughout the evening and shared thoughtful insights and history behind the fish and techniques, which made the meal even more meaningful. Parking was surprisingly easy with street parking nearby, though the surrounding area feels a bit gritty, so I wouldn't leave anything visible in your car. At the end of the omakase, you're given the option to order additional pieces or specialty items not included in the set menu. I highly recommend taking advantage of that and trying as much as you can. Overall, if you're looking to splurge on a truly unique and elevated omakase experience, Sushi Salon is absolutely worth it. Each roll is brought out individually on a wooden stand. They are left open so you can see the ingredients. I appreciate that the soy sauce is in a dropper bottle.
