First time ordering from this place. I ordered thru GrubHub on the Yelp app. It is not a high end sushi place but it is solid. The kind of place you order for girl dinner or a Netflix marathon. The fish was a tad thin but I am happy to now have a new, casual, easy, affordable sushi spot. Delivery was perfect. I tipped so the delivery person would come into the building and he did just that. They gave all the appropriate chopsticks, napkins and soy sauce.

Haven't visited this establishment in decay. It's still here. Food was delicious. Service was great too. No happy hour.

Late night sushi! Good enough for being open super late. We arrived around 12:40am and they said they are taking last orders though, so don't go too close to 1am. Food was pretty good except their tempura seemed really old and stale, and their scallop nigiri did not taste fresh. I loved the time they put into decorating the place though- one piece, totoro, kikis delivery service, and many more anime related decors can be found. Quite fun!

I love that this place is open late night even after I get off of work late. The fish, Katsu and salmon balls are my favorite.

This is my favorite sushi spot and y'all gotta try it if you haven't been!! Easily my favorite because of the good food, and the place being decorated in anime!! It's fairly priced but everything is worth the price and wait! If you're stuck and don't know what to order, I recommend starting with the BBQ mussels and a roll of your choice! But if you want to try a new roll, I recommend you get the Oh Sexy roll. It's wrapped in rice paper and feels so clean and light. It's what I get every time I visit, in addition to another roll! I'll definitely be back!!

Love coming here! Great service that's fast and friendly. Love the decor and homage to Haha Miyazaki with the pictures and movies. Food is amazing! Every roll ordered is delicious. Love starting off with hamachi Kama and trying new rolls each time. Just like any neighborhood in the Bay Area, you take parking with caution nowadays. But I will still come here on a late night. They're worth it.

I'd agree with the 3.5 star rating for this restaurants. The prices are slightly expensive but that's about right for the post pandemic SF Bay Area. The fish was not super fresh and was kind of dry but it's acceptable. You can tell by the color because it looks kind of dull. No octopus or egg or shrimp or eel with the nigiri combo

The noodles are the highlight for me. They're bouncy and have a nice texture. The bowl is packed with flavor. The Karaage was good, crispy, absorbed the sauce well, there were also pieces of soft eggplant as well. I would go lighter on the sauce or have the excess on the side. The sauce became overpowering the more chicken I ate. I think the Houston location had better service. This location felt cramped, loud and cold. There is only street parking at this location, there is Fentons a few doors down but there's more parking in the surrounding neighborhoods. The Chicken ramen at Mensho is the best I've tried in the U.S thus far

Both really good. I had to refrain from drinking and eating it all so I didn't get full before my food came. Would order both again. (Maybe add some liquor in the lemonade lol ) For my main dish, I went with the 10 piece nigiri omakase and upgraded $10 to include toro. Pieces of fish were huge and delicious. Surprisingly the toro wasn't my favorite but still was really good! The shrimp head was a nice treat! I ordered dessert even though I was stuffed cause I couldn't help myself: matcha tres leche (which I was told was their most popular dessert). It didn't disappoint! Pretty unique! I loved the beet-marinated salmon, this was nice and sweet. The green curry was interesting, though outshone by the former. TUNA TATAKI: A LOT of topping for a tataki...! Like overflowing! I liked it ^_^ But a lot of onion and texture. I mainly was curious towards the ponzu soy mayo, which didn't fail to be bright and flavorful. BACON OF THE SEA: My partner is the BIGGEST fan of salmon skin so this was a must-have. SO good. Crispy outside, tender inside, plus all the fatty goodness throughout. SAKE DON: Supa fresh!! The price is reasonable for the variety, for the bay, and the sushi is fresh and tasted great. The restaurant itself is elegant and cute. Highlights for me were all the Japanese fish, which are specially curated and killed with a technique to reduce fish stress. The taste was close to what I got in Japan, and each coming piece was exciting. The sashimi courses at the beginning were also amazingly crafted, especially the first tuna course. Where it lost a star for me was 1) the amount of food was quite small. In total it was about 17 courses, but each is essentially one small piece of sushi. They did give a large hand roll at the end but I still didn't feel full. I did order one supplemental piece, but the other two options weren't interesting to me. What makes this place so special is their fish supplier, famed Japanese fish concierge Hiroshi Hasegawa. He's known for sourcing rare and unusual fish that are rarely sold commercially, and he sometimes even free-dives to catch them himself. Sushi Salon is currently the only restaurant in the United States that he supplies, which means you truly won't get this exact experience anywhere else. The rice alone deserves its own praise. The vinegar they use is only supplied to a select few in the U.S., and in my opinion, it was the best sushi rice I've ever had. I could honestly eat the rice on its own. The space is incredibly intimate, with only seven seats per seating at 5:00pm and 7:30pm. Watching each course being prepared right in front of us made the entire experience feel personal and immersive. Every piece of fish was excellent, but the standouts for me were the saba, uni, medai, ninjin, and kegani. Joji Nonaka and Anna Osawa were wonderful hosts. They engaged with guests throughout the evening and shared thoughtful insights and history behind the fish and techniques, which made the meal even more meaningful. Parking was surprisingly easy with street parking nearby, though the surrounding area feels a bit gritty, so I wouldn't leave anything visible in your car. At the end of the omakase, you're given the option to order additional pieces or specialty items not included in the set menu. I highly recommend taking advantage of that and trying as much as you can. Overall, if you're looking to splurge on a truly unique and elevated omakase experience, Sushi Salon is absolutely worth it. It's special, intimate, and unforgettable.
