Came here the other day for some Filipino desserts. We have Cafe 86 near by in Rancho. As well as seafood city's version of halo halo also in Rancho. This was a bit out of the way, but still somewhat close hy in Ontario. I really like the shopping center its in. Lots of communal seating outside. But I can only imagine when its a 100 degrees midday, they dont get much use. The actual store is super small. With very few seating options. They have a lot of different desserts they offer. From coffees, to halo halo to baked goods to cookies to shakes and matcha and everything else inbetween. Staff is friendly, the drinks do take some time to make. We had their halo halo, banana pudding matcha, several of their crinkles, and their guava cheese. The halo halo looks amazing. So many colors. It was very cold. But had no flavors.... tasted like drinking milk with ice. Even the little jellies had no flavors. It wad just loke drinking iced milk. The matcha pudding was horrendous. No real flavors except for bitterness. Seemed like it was watered down. Matcha was not good at all. The crinkles all tasted the same. I didnt know which was which. The guava one had a minor hint of guava. The guava cheese though was really good. Almost rivals that of Portos. But with amazing Filipino desserts closer to home (Cafe 86). And if im really hurting for halo halo closer to home in Seafood City. I dont see myself going out of my way to make a trip here again, unfortunately. read more

This cute cafe/bakery is a nice stop for those who want to get into Filipino desserts. The food here is a little on the sweeter side. I especially liked the flan cheesecakes (although the ube wasn't that strong) and the strawberry cheese roll. I would definitely check this place out if you're craving a sweet treat. There are a few table and seats if you wanna sit inside, but there are also a lot of tables outside for you to enjoy your food. Visiting my friend who took me here to try their bites and beverages. I ordered the Island Girl Latte and it was good. I also ordered Beef Empanada, Corned Beef Bomb, Chicken Adobo Bomb. The latter was my favorite and the best of the three Finally I tried the Ube Flan Cupcake (flan ) and Calamansi and Ube Cookies. I enjoyed the Ube cookie and the Calamansi was pretty good. From the moment we walked in, everyone was so warm and welcoming, really feels like a place where they genuinely care about their customers.The cookies ARE ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! I think I've tired every flavor; my favorites are ube, mango, captain crunch and red velvet. The island girl latte I tried today tastes just as good as the ones Im obsessed with in Haiwaii. Thanks to Yelp, I came across this cute little Filipino café, Kape Republik, in Ontario Ranch, and I'm so glad I did!!! They have such a great variety of pastries, desserts, empanadas, drinks, coffees, matchas, and all the sweet treats you could crave... I ended up getting the mango slush smoothie, which was delicious, light, fresh, and super refreshing... I also tried three of their crinkle cookies: birthday cake, s'mores, and ube, and all three were amazing!!!! They also have ube flan, which I'll definitely be trying on my next visit because Filipino desserts are my weakness and ube flan is one of my favorites... They even make beautiful ube birthday cakes, which would be perfect for a celebration... The café itself is very clean, cute, and beautifully decorated, and the staff was wonderful.. I ordered the Island Girl latte, a box of 12 assorted crinkle cookies (originally priced at $30, but I got them at a discount--I think they were a day old), guava cheese rolls, and a chocolate cigar. The crinkle cookies were great. They're lightly sweetened with a sugary coating on the outside. I had the strawberry, calamansi, and guava flavors, and they each had a distinctive taste, which I appreciated. I didn't get to try the cheese rolls since I was gifting those. I did try the chocolate cigar, which was like a brownie rolled up in a croissant. That texture wasn't my preference. Came in a large cup with all the good mixings and layers of shaved ice, milk (your choice of 2% or oat), various sweetened beans, jellys, tapioca pearls, fruits and topped off with a scoop of ube ice cream. Chicken adobo bomb has a flaky crust similar to a croissant on the outside filled with shredded chicken seasoned as adobo. It wasn't bad. I enjoyed this flavored bomb better than the corned beef bomb. Corned beef bomb is the same crust as above. The inside is just corn beef and potatoes. I found the corned beef to be lacking flavor and it just tasted plain overall. It wasn't bad but it wasn't good either? It was just meh. I really enjoyed their crinkle cookies. I order strawberry and lemon. It was bigger than I thought they would be. I loved how the cookie was crispy on the outside and very fluffy in the middle. It was super good coated with powdered sugar. I was excited to try their guava strudel as I love the guava rolls from Portos. These ones from Kape were amazing. I love that they sprinkle sugar on top of the crust to give it a bit more crunch. Ube cupcake with the flan on top wasn't quite hitting for me. The cupcake itself was really dry and the flan is not flan without the caramel sauce. These crinkle cookies are no joke. I got the calamansi, fruity pebbles, ube, and guava and they were all so good I had to come leave a review. The outside has this perfect little crunch and then the inside is just super soft, exactly how a crinkle should be. I hate when cookies are dry or taste like they've been sitting out forever but these always taste fresh every time, which is saying a lot. Flavor-wise they all go crazy. The calamansi is a little tangy which I loved, fruity pebbles is just fun and tastes exactly like you'd expect, ube is rich without being too sweet, and the guava one is lowkey my favorite. Honestly some of the best cookies I've had in a while. Already thinking about my next order. If you haven't tried these yet just do it, you won't regret it. Wow!!! I purchased their Ube Drink & Crinkle Cookies and I am beyond amazed at how fluffy/soft the cookies are (at least the fruity pebbles one, since I haven't tried the ube one yet). But man.... It's incredible! It's like a dream every-time I bite into it. Also, side note: I am quite a picky dessert person and when I experience a dessert that blows my mind ... which is incredibly hard to do, so I love to give praise when that happens. I'm a trucker and I've ordered from them through DoorDash twice in two weeks. I love ube and they offer a lot of ube flavored delights. My favorites are Ube Flan cupcakes and the ube brownie because they are not too sweet just perfect balance. The ube cheesecake is kinda good too the "crust" is a nice surprise and contrast to the soft ube part. Don't care for the tres leches- it just doesn't taste ube enough for me. If you need a cake, look no further. My cake request was unique bc I wanted a blueberry filling which is not listed as one of their options. It was for a baby shower I was hosting. Carla was so helpful and patient. She walked me thru the possibilities and when I sent her a picture of the cake, she was surprised that it was a cake they recently made (I found it on Pinterest not their website). My highlights on what to order: Cold brew ube foam: Don't skip this one if you're a coffee drinker and you like your coffee strong BUT still have that nice ube flavor. The combo is heaven. A+ Ube cheesecake bites: they use real ube. And you taste the ube. It's a burst of goodness and it's not so sweet at all. A+ Ube brownies: get out with that yummy goodness.
