I opted for Kaplan's online real estate education. I want to start by saying I loved Rolfe Kurtyka in the online lectures--I found him to be invaluable and a great educator. However, I experienced bad communication from the more local course contacts right off the bat, that got me off to an unfortunate start--I read 1.5 textbooks I shouldn't have before being guided to the right one to start with, due to a misspelling of my email address and confusing syllabus instructions. The videos and questions asked thereafter do not always match up. The course outlines you are asked to fill out and chapters also do not match up, which is counterintuitive to the learning process and frustrating. Workbook reference figures sometimes don't exist. Random question boxes popped up in the courses unannounced that don't apply. The final exams I took have variations of questions that I had not seen before, which I feel shouldn't have been the case--they should have come up in some variation in quizzes before. As someone else mentioned, 5%(-8%) of the "correct" quiz and test answers are actually incorrect. One example: "The timeline is July 1 through September 30--with THIRTY days in each month [...]." In another example, Net Loan Proceeds are a debit to the broker, but in a T/F question in a Unit Review Test, the "correct" answer is that it's a credit to the broker. It makes you wonder to what degree you're learning things as wrong or right. You're also only given a limited amount of chances to pass practice final tests OR there is a limited amount of questions in the bank-- this could stand for improvement to really increase our chances on the big exam day. If I hadn't been collecting previous test questions diligently on the side, I might not have been as poised for later success. Also, I believe if I had not taken free real estate exams found online after completing my Kaplan coursework, I wouldn't have been properly prepared--especially as relates to the National Portion math I was met with on exam day. Overall, I wish I had researched courses to see which were better rated, because $1,115 is a big commitment of funds. I am not satisfied with my investment, though I did pass my licensing exam with 134/154 correct the first time (which I suppose is the point after all). This is by a big effort of my own, however. I would encourage others to shop around before investing in Kaplan for this course. They are great for other subject matter, I have heard. This course could stand for improvement, in my opinion--some updating, as others have said. I would advise others to be wary. read more

I opted to take my class on demand​/online with Kaplan. I did so much research on the different schools and options and felt like it would be my best option for success. I followed the guideline given to complete it in 6 weeks and it was very doable. I was a lot of work, but the way that Kaplan presents the material I was ready for my test. I found the test prep to be really important and well laid out. SO pleased I picked Kaplan. I felt confident and ready going into the test and passed both tests with 85 and 91% on my first try. It is July 22nd now, and I started on​ June 11th. It can be done! read more

Great experience. HIGHLY recommend doing the intensive in person. Only did the fill in course work and attended ALL classes. Practice test and exam prep is imperative. Get yourself in front of as many test questions as possible. Passed both national and state first try although difficult but go to class, pay attention and take the practice tests! BUYER BEWARE....... You only have 6 months to complete all the courses. Therefor, if you get injured, sick, etc.. you are screwed. They hid that part of the course policy in the terms and conditions after you submit your payment method. The online classes are good but they failed in all aspects in regards to preparing you from the beginning. You are left to fend for yourself in the beginning. No syllabus or anything until you start the Colorado courses so you have to ask kindergarten type questions to make sure you start off on the correct foot otherwise you'll be behind. read more

So far, one lesson covers around 40 pages. Do not be discouraged. It is required to obtain licensing. Use flashcards. I am only on the 5th lesson unit. Try to attend an in-person class in addition to online to get a thorough overview of content and retain it. read more

I took the at home course and so far: Syllabus is confusing and leaves out important pages of books that you will be later rebuked for not studying. You are told to study the contracts as you go, but with no real guidance on how or what that looks like. The first 3 weeks of the course are incredibly easy, but suddenly the last 4 weeks are a MASSIVE (literally 3 times more work) load. Why not spread it more evenly? Bottom line: My father and cousin attended a lecture with two different companies and passed the RE license on first try. I'm scared after studying much longer and harder then both that I won't pass at all! read more

I started off at a local real estate school and the word awful would not even begin to describe it. Frustrated, I quit after the first week. In November I joined Kaplan, on demand for Colorado. The education was INCREDIBLE, and I don't normally learn well online. I stopped attending in December and picked back up mid-January​. Well, today I took my test, and passed first try! I still talk to 3 people from the school I started to attend in October, and sadly no one has passed. Kaplan made it so easy, and I'm very excited to start my career! Thanks, ​Kaplan! read more

Absolutely god awful. I failed the Sales and Marketing test after two attempts now have to retake the entire module. Poorly written book, even worse questions and answers for the quizzes and final exam, and the support is limited to normal business hours which is not when most people are even working on this. Regret ever taking this Kaplan course, wish I would have gone another route. read more

Beware ! Do not take Kaplan real estate it was very confusing hard to follow . They did not give you a list of where to take proctored exams that would fulfill the requirement . When I asked if they could email my local college with info so that I could take a proctored exam in their testing center where they do only proctored real estate testing Kaplan said they did not do that . The local college said they had never had an online real estate school that didn't at least email them info on what was required or allowed ( like using a calculator ) I recommend Champions . read more

Worst online option for a not so quick and easy renewal of license. Can not ever get a hold of any support when needed, sit on hold for extended time periods and no resolution or help when someone finally answers. the quizzes and videos do not line up with final testing at all, passed all quizzed with 90-100 and then final questions were not related. Running out of time to renew, I signed up online with another online options which was much better and no refund given from Kaplan! Do not use them as there are many other options out there to pick from. read more

I would NOT recommend this online school. The directions are completely unclear, and they lead you to believe that you only have to take one proctored exam before you take the state/national exam. I completed all 22 Units of reading, took a proctored exam and applied with TREC to take the state/national only to find out that I had to take 5 more proctored exams first, and by then my course was expired. The directions state "Take a proctored exam" instead of saying " Take 6 proctored exams". It was all very confusing. I had even called someone, ( who had to look it up!) and all they said was take a proctored exam, then submit it and schedule your state/national. The hired people you call don't even know the process. There had been nothing on my course to prompt me to continue with additional exams. I feel like it was purposefully misleading in order to get you to purchase extensions, which is what I had to do, which is an additional $250, when I had already completed the reading and studying. Honestly, it feels like they try to extort money out of you by supplying very misleading and deceptive directions. No one to call that has very much knowledge to guide you through the online process. I am considering complaining to TREC, because their instructions should really be reviewed. Like they say in real estate..."BUYER BEWARE"! Outstanding! I initially signed up with a different company for an online course and it just didn't work for me. I took the 3-week classroom version through Kaplan - think of it as "sucking on the fire-hose of information," but it was worth it! In addition, the classroom setting was enjoyable and I met some really fine people. Kaplan teaches you how to pass the real estate exams (State and National). You have 6 months to utilize all offerings, but I recommend getting it over with. I handily passed the exams on the first try and would recommend Kaplan to anyone. Note: I can only vouch for the classroom option (which is now held at Evans & Monaco). Based upon my previous experience with an online course, that's not something I would tackle again. ABSOLUTELY HATED IT! The online course is literally all reading (which I am aware is how most online real estate courses are but I can only speak on the one I have tried). If you have a collaborative learning style: stay away. The very few short videos that are available are on the simplest topics and concepts possible. I'm no genius, but I can understand readings when they are written and explained well. I have found quite a few typos, and that makes the confusing topics even more confusing because I'm not sure if they meant to write it like that or if its another typo. The course times out if you do not switch over pages within 20 mins. Not after 20 min of inactivity (such as scrolling), but 20 mins of being on the same page. Frustrating as can be to be taking notes trying to grasp a concept and having to log back in or remember to flip pages and come back. The practice questions and exercises at the end of each section are extremely easy, yet the extensive practice test at the end of each chapter is more difficult and loaded with "trick questions". Total waste of money; and I paid a bit extra for this course than some of the other options I had because of Coldwell's reputation, but I'll have to change my plans and take it in person somewhere. read more

My Experience with Kaplan R.E: The description of their BICUP course made it seem like it would satisfy part of my 12hr BIC course that is only offered by NCREC. I completed the online/OnDemand (NOT live) portion and went back to research what it would take to finish the NCREC 12 hour requirement and learned that the course offered by Kaplan was not at all what I needed. I called back for a refund and although they suffered no loss and the course portion I completed cannot be used whatsoever towards any of my C/E requirements, they refused to refund the entire amount and only offered me a partial refund even though I explained the above. I even added that they would loose a customer for life and they did not care. I will never recommend this to anyone of my three real estate companies that conduct business in 3 different states or use this agency for anything in the future. I did all the work and lost all my time and I am the only one that suffered a loss. They would not even give me a credit toward next years C/E requirements. Not the type of company I like to do business with. I would understand if I could have used the Course towards 2022 CE requirement, got a future credit or took the live portion where a teach put in the time, but that did not happen. Took the Real Estate online course last year and it was incredibly long and some of the test questions were incorrect. I ended up passing the licensing test, but on the second try. Just finished my post-licensing 30 hours of CECs. After paying another fee, I almost got through the incredibly long program with Kaplan (why not, since I it was the only program I knew of). Little did I know that at the end of each section there was a final test that was anywhere from 75 - 120 questions. Not only that, but they don't let you know which ones you missed so you cannot go back and learn from your mistakes! I got through 2 final exams that took me 3 hours each (the classes themselves are only 2-3 hours each) and finally vented to real estate friend of mine who asked why I didn't do the free program from Moseley. What??? I looked it up, abandoned Kaplan and signed on with Moseley and completed EVERYTHING over the course of 1.5 days! Plus, you can download the study guide. Kaplan did not offer that option. Because real estate is not my career (I only need this license as a legal state requirement of my job), I was extremely frustrated with the expense as well as testing requirements when it is NOT necessary. read more

I took the real estate course to fulfill all the pre-licensing requirements in CO. I thought it was excellent. I did it totally online and (with the exception on the CO-specific lectures on "Practical Applications" which were delivered by a woman who read the slides word for word and bored me to tears) I thought it was fantastic. The instructors were great at keeping me engaged and they really help lock info in your brain for test-taking purposes. I completed the course in 4 months and took the exams yesterday. Killed it. 88% national, 95% state. The bottom line is, you have to put the time in. An understanding of general concepts isn't going to get you through this exam. Just watching the lectures and not doing the reading, isn't going to cut it. So this course is for you if you are willing to put in the time. But if you are looking for a magic wand quick fix easy A...not sure this is for you. Or maybe it is? All I know is if you take this course and put in the time, you'll crush the exams. Speaking of the exams, PSI's trying to make money off your failure, for sure. They will let you easily narrow an answer down to 2 choices, but they screw with your head. I feel certain I could have made a case for a few answers...but I passed so...I'll leave it at that. Just be prepared to want to punch the PSI test computer in the face. read more

The prep course for passing the CO portion of the RE exam was very helpful, with the mock test first day, my score was 50% and after one day of class prepping for the exam, I followed this amazing instructor's tips on studying for it and passed a few days later at over 80%. Well worth the time and cost (2 class days and 3-4 days studying the prep book exactly the way she recommended. read more

A VERY bad experience. After traveling over an hour, 25 minutes of which was spent in the parking lot commonly known as I-25, I reached my destination which turned out to be a low rent, virtual storefront ghost town twenty minutes late. Ten of those minutes were allotted for registration, so yes I was ten minutes late for my class which was not a proctored, exam class but continuing education. I was informed that I would not be allowed into the classroom because of my tardiness. To say I was a little upset is a monumental understatement. After cancelling all of the classes I had registered for and asking for a business card, I was handed a PHOTOCOPY of a business card. Very professional! I did call and logged a complaint and the Kaplan representative was very nice and assured me that the information would be forwarded on. Over 24 hours now and I have not had any contact from Kaplan. The only good thing I can say is I believe I will receive a full refund for the classes. That however does not compensate me for my full day wasted and 300 miles. Kaplan will not get another dime of my money. Think I'll go with McKissock. P.S. They probably need to update their address! read more
