This place is AMAZING! We recently brought our beloved Fånihi to Kapolei Pet Hospital after he suddenly developed IVDD overnight. It was absolutely heartbreaking. Fånihi brought so much happiness, love, and joy into our lives, and having to make such a difficult decision was one of the hardest things our family has ever faced. From the moment we walked through the doors until Fånihi took his last breath, the entire staff treated him with so much love, compassion, and respect. They were gentle, informative, and incredibly caring, not only toward him but also toward our family. During one of the most painful moments of our lives, they made us feel like they truly loved him too. When we received his cremation ashes, they included beautiful keepsakes that meant the world to us: prints of his nose, mouth, and paw, along with a heartfelt condolence card signed by everyone in the clinic. They even included an extra set of his nose and paw prints. The thoughtfulness and attention to detail were beyond anything we expected, and we will treasure those memories forever. Our family will always be grateful to Dr. Yoko and Mindy. Mindy was incredibly gentle and kind with our sweet boy, reassuring us every step of the way that he would be treated with the utmost care and dignity. Dr. Yoko took the time to explain Fånihi's condition with compassion and honesty, helping us understand what was best for him, even though it was so difficult to hear. Great Vet for my fur baby, we've been here now a couple of times for his annual check up. Located in the same complex as Chun Wah Kam, plenty of parking. Staff is friendly, I love that they send reminders that it's time for his annual check up and texts that remind you that your appt. is coming up. The staff here is so amazingly nice and had true concern for our cat when we brought him in. They weren't able to help him because my cat needed to be kept overnight at a facility for his ailment. The visit was timely and they told us what was wrong immediately, and proceeded to give us recommendations about where to take him. They did an ultrasound and urinalysis and whatever they could there and then even forwarded their findings to the next vet we took our cat to. It wasn't an expensive visit since they offered a discount for being first time patients, which helped mitigate the cost just a tiny bit. Everyone here is so friendly and able to handle my nervous kitty with such ease. She recently turned 10 and had dental issues. I was nervous with getting her teeth cleaned because I've heard that anesthesia is risky for senior cats, but they took a blood test to be sure that the risk would be minimal. After the procedure, they kept her for a couple more hours to rest. Once I brought her home, it was as if the anesthesia completely wore off...full of energy with a big appetite, and super affectionate, either for being relieved of being back home, or her teeth feeling so much better. And even though I had to limit how much food she could have, she wasn't crying like she usually does (probably from stress from aching teeth). They showed me exactly what was going on with each tooth (lot of gingivitis) and what they did to treat them. They also generously gave me a bag of dental treats. read more

Absolutely the best customer service! I called concerned about my dogs itchies. And I believe her name was Jackie, told me that they are booked out to August. But she said let me call you back and see what I can do. She called me within an hour and told me good news. She can get me in today! Now checking in and service at the hospital were excellent. I went in and with in 5 mins tests and exams were being done on my doggie. Blood tests exams, nail clipping. Wow!!! Not to mention the doctor. She was quick and great as well. Took my new puppy for his first wellness visit recently and we were very pleased with the visit, the staff and the Doctor. We were greeted with friendly faces and treats for my puppy on arrival. They made him feel very welcome and comfortable. Dr. Yoko was very nice, took her time during the examination and was very patient in answering all our questions. The vet tech was also wonderful and any questions I thought of after the visit were promptly answered with a return phone call. I love that if I have a question no matter how basic they always take my questions and concerns seriously and I feel that my fur baby will be well taken care of at this location. I've used this vet clinic since moving to Hawaii. They have always treated my special pups, collapsed trachea and the other being over 13, with the best care. I HIGHLY recommend Dr. Yoko. We have a big 70 lbs, 3 year old male that needed to be neutered. KPH was very informative and responded to my emails and messages quickly. I did message multiple vet offices and what made me choose them was the promt responses and lower cost roughly $500-600 a long with vaccinations for our guy. Our big guy is a little rowdy, and I'd say "handled it professionally" would be an understatement. We were worried because he has been a troublemaker at home but from taking his blood work and operation was done without any trouble. Small note, I didn't know that we first needed to do his blood work and that his operation would be about a week later. The blood work only took 45 mins. If you need to take off work to take care of neutering then be prepared that it is a two week process and the drop off for the operation would be at 7:30-7:45 am, and about 2-4pm for pick up. I loved this place at first but they started trying to sell me expensive tests for my healthy dogs. Saying my very healthy 5 1/2 yr old Yorkie needed an expensive full body test because she was approaching middle age. Once, they wouldn't administer a simple saline fluids shot saying that the dog's heart might be bad when every vet has said (including them) that she has a very strong heart. And she's had subQ fluids before and they work like a charm on her. I think the tech wanted to sell a test to me because she wouldn't let up about the dangers ? I am in disbelief. I thought I found a gem, been here a few times and felt like this doctor actually cared about people. Almost ONE hour into my appointment one of the staff members ask "Do you have anyone else to watch your kids?" I reply "No". Then proceeds to tell me they only allow one person in the room at a time and that I have to go transfer to my car. Or I can leave my children in the waiting room- mind you they are 4 and 5 years old (why would I leave my kids outside?) The doctor already seen our dog and we were in the room ALONE waiting for blood test results- how did we suddenly become an issue that needed to be addressed? How does any of that make sense?! No mom should ever feel this way. Like I said, this was after 45 mins. We were literally just waiting for results.... In a room... with no one around. But my kids had to leave the room or we had to get out of the clinic. read more

I write this review as a token of gratitude and respect to Kapolei Pet Hospital for their kindness and true respect for our Ohana... for our animals and the bonds they have with their people. We moved to Oahu a little while back and had not established Vet care yet. We called to schedule a check-up for our 14 year old Pug, Gerald, after we noticed he had been having some difficulty breathing (winding quickly and taking much too long to recover) and even small step-ups had become suddenly increasingly difficult. They fit us in within the week. Unfortunately, Gerald passed peacefully in his sleep just two days before his scheduled appointment. We still chose to take him to Kapolei (which they did without needing an appointment or making a fuss) and entrust them with our sweet boy's cremation. They were so kind and empathetic when we brought him there early in the morning, showing so much compassion and respect. Unexpectedly, today we received the sweetest card and an ink-print of our Gerald's paw on a beautifully hand-lettered tag. I cried with gratitude for their kindness, so grateful... In addition to the gesture being sweet, I was thankful for the confirmation that he was seen, respected, and cared about even after crossing the Rainbow Bridge. It speaks volumes to how many people like and use this vet clinic but waiting 3-4 weeks for an appointment for something like an ear infection is quite a nuisance. I've often had to take my dog to other vet clinics because their soonest availability is 4 weeks out. This is a great thing for their business but a bit difficult as a pet parent. read more

All vets are expensive and this one is no different in that regards. However, the staff is extremely friendly and makes all the animals (and their people) feel special. They listen and take note of all concerns while taking the time to give their undivided attention and explain things repeatedly or in different ways if needed. To clarify for your readers with your comment...I scheduled my appointment over a week in advance for "you to fit me in". I did not request this appointment today. Your staff chose this appointment day and time. If the reason that you "had to fit me in" was because my dog becomes aggressive at the vets then that should of been more common sense to get her in a room ASAP instead of having me wait with my dog outside for 30 minutes. There are other days in a month so you did not "have to fit me in" and shrug the responsibility off onto your customer. Maybe if you start taking responsibility for the lack of being on time as you expect your clients to do then maybe your business will prosper more. If you feel that confident and secure in your business to turn your customers' bad reviews elsewhere instead of "owning" your faults to improve upon and really listen to complaints then all it takes is another vet clinic to open in the area that provides good customer service. I moved here in March to be closer to my family and of course I brought my bestest friend of almost 13 years. Shortly after arriving she starting acting different. Since I was new here I couldn't "ask around" about who was the best vet so I checked around on Yelp, chose Dr. Yoko and prayed I made the right choice. I sent an email requesting information and knew right away just by the response that I had. Then we had our first visit and I knew this was my baby's new health care. Every time we came in, the staff stated how much they just loved Abby and how very well behaved she was. But unfortunately, it wasn't stress causing my princess to act different, she had chronic pancreatitis and it quickly affected her liver. It began to affect her hard and quickly. Dr. Yoko gave me ALL of my options, was very compassionate and understanding and did not judge me when I made the hardest decision of my life. Abby was there for me for over 12 years and I had to do what was right for her. Dr. Yoko and all of the staff were very compassionate and made the last minutes of my baby's life as comfortable as possible. They took care of everything afterward also. Our pibble, KC, had surgery here to remove a tumor. Dr. Yoko and the staff were always very accommodating and caring. About 4 years later, we brought KC back and were told she was anemic, had liver failure and was dying. It was quite a painful shock. Dr. Yoko was very compassionate and patient in explaining everything, including all our options. Lisa gently lifted her onto the table in a swaddle, she wagged her tail for the last time. They gave enough time to spend time with her, before and after sedation. When we were ready, the final dose was administered and she took her last breath. KC crossed over to the Rainbow Bridge on 10/6/18. Thank you to Dr. Yoko, Lisa, and the rest of the staff for your compassion, kindness, and professionalism. I have been taking my dogs to this vet hospital since 2015. My pom had her annual appointment recently and due to covid restrictions, we were not allowed to be with our pet in the room. The services are now curbside. My dog usually sees Dr. Haneda but was seen by a different doctor, which was not mentioned when I set up my appointment, in the appointment reminder voicemail, or anytime during the appointment. I had only found this out AFTER reviewing my dogs paperwork and seen a different signature. My dog has stress anxiety and does not do well with strangers. I don't know how her appointment went but she was not happy when she got home or the day after. She refused to eat until dinner time the next day. She is usually back to her happy self within a few hours after visits so this was not normal behavior for her. Changes in vet care need to be addressed!! We need to know what is going on. Especially when we can't be in the room to comfort them. I could have rescheduled my dog's appointment so that she is seen by the same doctor. What a bad experience it was for her. read more

Came here for my pup to get neutered. Pre check up on his blood was required to make sure Marley can handle the anesthesia. Successfully, Marley did and got the results before I even left. They make sure you bring in all documents of vaccinations. If you went somewhere else, they can also get in touch with your other vet and have them sent to them. Very convenient! They also want to make sure if they are micro-chipped so if not, they can add it since your put will be out. I adopted Marley from a friend and they gave me the form to fill out registration to add me as the owner. Once again, they did not have to, but kindly offered. This Pet hospital is in the same shopping center where Chun Wah Kam is located. Fairly decent parking spaces. Hours of operation are currently 830am to 6pm. However, on drop offs for the neuter or spay, your Pet must be checked in between 8am to 830am. Special accommodations for 730am is possible but you must inform them. I looked up this place on Yelp since they are near home and since the VCA does not accept the state dog Neuter certificate. The certificate is better to get in person according to Kapolei Pet Hospital's owner. If you pay online, the mailing process take ages. The owner is very good in responding to messages via Yelp. Another star appeal! All employees are helpful and there is a lady employee who is super sweet who made great convo and cleaned up my dog's accident. Marley healed quickly! It took him about 8 days and on the seventh day, I even had to get the cone resized as a walk in with no hassle. That is when they saw that the incision was healing well. They also applied a no-lick rub on his area which give off string bitter taste. Only con was that it smells strong like bitter melon. LOL! Out of pocket fees for pain killer meds, cone of shame, and checks up were $150 more which is pretty low. However, size of pet is also taken into account. Marley is considered small (23 pounds, 9 months old). Office and pet exam rooms are very clean. Staff and vets were very nice to treating Marley well. It was just sad to see him are teary-eyed. I cannot even imagine what pain he went through but now post-neuter, Marley is well and listens much more. He also goes to the restroom more regularly and not mark his territory all over. read more

Finally found a great pet clinic for my dog on the West side! Very friendly staff and last time they were all booked for the week but made an effort to squeeze my fur baby into their day because of his severe itching. He was very scared and shy on his first visit but now is so comfortable. They are also connected to the affordable spay/neuter and microchip program, so they have cheaper options if you need those services but can't afford the high prices from other vet clinics. Highly recommend! They only allow one pet in their waiting area so make sure to call to check in before you go into their clinic. We always take a stroll outside while we wait for the waiting area to be cleared. It is in the same parking lot as Chun Wah Kam and Hula Boba, so you can grab a bite or refreshing drink while you wait. read more

They have excellent customer service, a convenient location and very cost-effective rates when compared to my previous, larger vet in the nearby area. They even showed me actual prices of their services so I wasn't blindsided after my pet's appointment, which from my experience is unheard of for veternarians! I would drive to town to take my puppy to the vet because that's where her breeders got her first shots. I was looking for a place closer to home and saw the Kapolei Pet Hospital on Yelp, I quickly inquired and got an appointment right away for my puppy's second shots. They had Saturday appointments available which is great because I work during the week. When I first walk in, the place is nice and clean and the staff was very welcoming. I had the pleasure of seeing Dr. Yoko. She was great with my pup and I felt really comfortable with her. We were seen right away. When I was in town, I felt like just a number being called and nothing was explained to me with the shots they were giving her. But Dr. Yoko explained every shot and what it was for. Recently I took my puppy to get spayed. I was really nervous because I didn't know how it was going to be since I had to leave her there all day. After the procedure was finished they called me to let me know that she was done and that she is recovering and resting now. I felt so relieved. It was nice of them to do that. I picked up my puppy in the afternoon and she just rested the rest of the day. The next day, she wanted to play already. WOW! That was fast. Thank you Dr. Yoko and staff for your great service. After 16 years, we decided it was time to take our faithful and old pal, Scruffy , in to be euthanized. My children grew up with him and he has been the most awesome dog ever! Needless to say, just the thought of not having him around was so sad, but he was in a lot of pain from multiple tumors. My husband decided to go with Kapolei Pet Hospital and it was the best decision ever. The staff were so incredibly compassionate and professional! Our entire family was there from start to end. They gave us a room, gently started the procedure and gave us as much time as we needed with Scruffy in between injections. The staff came in and made sure Scruffy was comfortable (with a lot of towels) and that we were okay as well. Seriously, they were so patient with us. With our family around him and loving on him, Scruffy had no pain and peacefully drifted off to sleep. They even let us stay as long as we wanted to say goodbye. A few days later, we received a thoughtful handwritten card from the staff, along with hair clippings and a stamp of his paw. We didn't even know they were going to do this! This will be our vet for life. They truly love what they do and love animals! read more

Our cat Niya (who was not even a year old) was drooling at the mouth for a few days, not being able to eat or drink. Since it was our sabbath (friday sunset to saturday sunset) day we didn't want to go to far (we live in Nanakuli) but it was an emergency, so we took Niya in for healing. We cried on the way to the hospital as many of the stories online for cats that drool have cancer and die. Dr. Yoko and her assistant nurse (can't remember her name but she was really sweet & helpful) were very warm hearted and uplifting. She gave us everything we needed to help our Niya with a pricing that was fair. Our Niya was better within a week. :) Two months later we took our Rat terrier Nia to get spayed at there hospital, which went perfectly. Unfortunately a month later we for Nia in our car and she overheated, so we took her to Dr. Yoko. When we arrived there nurse Kana immediately took Nia in for care. We were sure that Dr. Yoko could help Nia, because she's done it before. However, as an hour passed Dr. Yoko explained that Nia required more care for the next three days that would cost $1200 and she was not guaranteed to live. We were so emotionally and spiritually traumatized that we started to confuse the staff saying we were going to let her go, and then changing our minds (this was about an hour). While the pricing was decent we made a tough decision to let her go. I'm glad the staff, Dr Yoko, Sherry, and James were patient and sensitive to our feelings. They gave us all the time and space we needed as we were crying really loud even singing to Nia ='( before she was euthanized. The staff sent us a card about Doggy heaven to assure that she was safe and her paw prints with some of her fur a week later. D; In addition we received her ashes in a vase with her name. In my opinion they really do care for there customers. :) We don't really believe in doggy heaven, but the experience definitely made us reflect about the choices we make if we want to go to heaven. That we need to pay attention to the signs and warnings to do right by YHWH GOD. Also, that if we don't pay attention and care to do things morally according the commandments of YHWH GOD we will not only lose our soul, but affect others in a negative way that may even cost them their lives and souls too. It's sad that we had to lose our Nia, but it was a wake up call and bitter lesson to be learned. Nehemiah 9:6 "You alone are YAHUWAH. The immediate care of service was awesome! Everyone was so compationate when we took both of our dogs in on separate occasions to be put to sleep due to their ages. We have been going to Dr Yoko and the team for years with our puppy and a later a cat we had found. We always appreciate their service and communication, especially for something a vexing as a canine skin allergy- common to the breed. They went far above and beyond with their end of life care for our cat. Once we determined that his body was failing they knew exactly how to care for both us the family and our animal during this time. He died purring cuddled up with family, when as an outdoor cat he would've likely have passed alone, scared, and in pain. I felt like Dr Yoko genuinely loved both our cat and our daughter through the process. She kissed our cat on his head before he passed. She held and kissed my young daughter on the head as she cried. These are memories that will always stick with me, and I'm grateful that the memories are bittersweet. read more

I have taken my dogs to this vet for almost a year. They have performed surgery on all three of my dogs- for different reasons. I have spent thousand of dollars there. Perhaps there is a change in management- who knows, but today's performance was not indicative of the care I have received there. The staff tried to get money out of me for a test that has already been performed on my dog. Without this test they would not let me have the antibiotics that my dog so desperately needs. Without the test I couldn't even see the vet. Even though I had an appointment. Ridiculous! He is being treated for the same reason I've been going there since day one. To repeat the same tests already performed is irresponsible and unprofessional. I will never walk in that office again. I'm just fuming as I don't want my dog to suffer and he shouldn't be in the state he's in. I blame this facility! read more

Just as you are browsing the different vet clinic options, I saw great reviews and thought we would come here to have our kitten neutered using the state's Neuter Now program. I bought the certificate from the Humane Society and saw that this vet participated, whereas our normal vet did not. They still charge for a lot of the extras, so we still paid a substantial amount on top of the charge for the certificate. However, it's close in proximity of where we live and that made for a convenient drop off/pick up. We didn't have any issues with the admin staff or vet techs during the initial check-up, drop off, or pick up. They were very nice and welcoming each time we were there. We were told that everything was fine and that the surgery was a success when we picked her up the same afternoon. When we brought our kitten home, we made sure she was isolated from her brother (the other cat we have) and had her stay in the spare bathroom where she could recover properly in peace. Fast forward to about a week and a half later and my husband felt a bump on her stomach when he was brushing her after her first bath after the surgery, right where her incision was. He called up the clinic the next day to tell them what he found and he was told that it was most likely scar tissue and that it should dissolve on its own. She was acting like her normal, playful self, so we thought she was recovering well enough. We kept an eye out on the bump to see if it would go away, like they said. She hasn't had any other major surgery aside from this one and we made sure she wasn't active while recovering (we know due to common sense and having gone through this process with other pets). That bump didn't go away. It's still there. We had her checked at our regular vet and they confirmed that it was a hernia from the surgery. We called Kapolei Pet Hospital to let them know and they had us bring her in so that they could check for themselves. The office manager seemed apologetic over the phone and wanted to make it right, so we agreed to work with them instead of against them. After they confirmed that it was, in fact, a hernia, the vet (Dr. Yoko) actually suggested that it was our fault for letting our kitten be active during the recovery process and stated that that's most likely how she got the hernia! Ummm no, we were very careful to have her rest and heal by keeping her away from things that would cause her to get excited. On top of that, they are charging us an additional $300+ to have another surgery done and fix this issue that they, themselves, have caused. I don't know about you, but this is not proper business practice. You, Kapolei Pet Hospital, expect us to pay more money to remove a hernia that was caused by a procedure you did? I should have read ALL the reviews and not just the good ones that get filtered to the top. Hopefully others don't have to go through what we're currently going through, just because we are responsible pet owners and trusted this business to take care of our furbaby. Looking at this from a malpractice point of view and looking for local attorneys to see if we have a case because I get so angry every time I see our kitten and knowing that this business inflicted something to her that she never deserved. read more
