I had to buy a suit for a Confirmation and Karako Suits was recommended by a friend who used them before. First off, I don't like trying on clothes at all. If I could, I'd never step foot into a clothing store ever, so I wasn't looking forward to stepping into this store at all. Upon entering the store I was impressed. It was clean, organized and well stocked with nice suits, shoes and other accessories. Evie, one of the store salespersons, was very attentive. After taking some measurements, she made her assessment of the kind of suit that would work best for the occasion. She put me at ease with her easy going personality and her very good understanding of style. What I thought would be an unpleasant experience turned out pretty painless. about 145$ for 4 polyster ties, a fake silver tie clip, and 1 belt. 3 people standing in store but not offering to help. and you have to give your whole life story before they ring you up as slowly as possible. hard, heavy, ugly shoes but because they are so unique, they will not have them in any other color or size. No one even tried to act happy that customers were in their store, wow. No prices on anything anywhere. I guess they make up the prices as they study your face for fleecing you. I was looking for a suit yesterday for my wedding and I visited a few stores to no avail. Then I remembered Karako as a store I bought ties from a few years ago. I checked the reviews for the nearby location, and this one at Howard beach had really good reviews, so I visited there. The representative who helped me's name was, Evie. She was a blessing! Helped me pick an amazing suit, color coordinated everything, encouraged me to call/loop-in my fiance (via phone), but most of all, she was super friendly. And I mean genuinely friendly. I originally went to this location because of the amazing reviews. I purchase my first ever Tux and suit with the amazing help from Evie (why she's not the manager idk). This amazing experience was two years ago before covid. My two stars come from my experience last night. On Friday October 15th. I went in at 7pm. I was in need of a vest for the same tux I purchase from this store. I was met by a gentleman who wasn't the most helpful at all. When we told him we called two days ago and we were told to bring in the tux so they can either match or purchase a vest he said well who told you that cause they were wrong. He proceeded to bring me a 2 XL vest that was too big on me and no offered no help to try to order one. I was getting frustrated with him as he didn't even seem to care at all. I asked for a new tux shirt in which again he went looking for a 2 xl shirt and told me I need to buy it and then get it tailored. The shirt i purchased from the same store was a xl and fit perfectly the only issue was the neck was a bit too small. Going in there was a complete waste of my time and will be the last time I waste my time going in there unless Evie is there to help. read more

I just had the best experience at Karako Suits Howard Beach. We walked in on Tuesday night, one hour before closing time, with a warm welcome. We encountered Yvonne who approached us right away with a smile. She measured my husband and found his size. She asked all of the right questions in regards to the occasion, theme/color, and style (which she already knew just by speaking to him). Yvonne was very professional and an expert at what she does. She found the PERFECT SUIT for my husband in an instant and had him try it on. She then put together the entire ensemble with shirt, shoes, and a belt. She did so well with my husband that we decided to come back the next day to pick a suit for our 5 year old son. Yet again PERFECTION! They both tried on their suits and were measured by their in-house tailor. We left the store very happy with our purchases and will absolutely come back should we need another suit. Terrible service today at Karakos. My dad is a long time customer at this particular store and I took him to get suits for his birthday. First and foremost when we walked in we were not greeted when we walked in and said good morning. There was no good morning or how can I help you today. My dad who knows the store went straight to his section to start to look. Then the same customer service rep who was at the door when we walked in followed us. Not only was the selection poor with only three color varieties for his size but after explaining our needs to the customer service representative we were told "they can't do that" because "it wasn't part of the sale" despite our willingness to take less items than the store was offering in the supposed sale. The sad part is that we advised them that we would go else where and both the customer service rep and the manager rather lose their customers rather than satisfy our needs. Very poor customer service. My dad always shops at this store and was just there on Wednesday to return a damaged item that he recently bought and was not met with this same disregard. So sad. Bate and Switch. They tell buy one and get another two suits free. But when its time to pay, they tell that you have to pay full price. Meaning each suit has two prices, a sales price and an original price. You think that the suit is $179 but at the register they change the price to $699. read more

Let me just start off by saying that I will NEVER go back to this store again!!! The store manager needs to attend a customer service training course!!! I took my son there for a suit to wear for his graduation. What should have been a memorable experience turned out to be a nightmare!! The suit he chose needed to be altered so of course, we left it to be picked up a week later. First issue was on the day I was scheduled to pick it up, I called the store to make sure it was ready since I live far. The store manager truly told me to call back because he was "too busy" and couldn't check. Called back numerous times and no answer so I went anyway. Second issue, when my son tried on the suit, not only was one leg hemmed longer than the other, but the hem done on the sleeves were crooked/slanted!!!! When the salesman checked he agreed with me, however, when the store manager came over, he was super annoyed because it was late in the evening and tried to convince me that I was wrong and that the work done was perfectly fine. I'm sorry but I'm NOT blind!!! He didn't want to fix it on the spot because it was "late" therefore, wanted me to return the next day. After insisting that I was NOT going to do that because the graduation was the next day and didn't have time to return, he had his seamstress attempt to correct what the tailor messed up. HUGE FAIL!!! The pants were fine but the sleeves were horrible. SHE DIDN'T FIX THE PROBLEM!!!! All she did was make the sleeves shorter!!! The sleeves were still slanted and uneven!!!! He proceeded to tell me that he was being "texted" because the store was still open, therefore was closing. Really!? So no accountability of the mistake your employee made?? He obviously didn't care if it was corrected or not!! Continued to tell me that If I wanted the sleeves corrected, I would have to go back the next day because he was closing and nothing else would be done at that moment. I'm sorry but after spending soooooo much money in that store, he could have handled the situation a whole lot better!!! RIDICULOUS!!!! Beware of the unprofessionalism in that store not to mention the inexperienced tailors they have working for them!!! read more
