What a great experience if I could give them 10********** stars I would. It started last night online. It was long past clothing. I was looking for a popular brand of shoes that had recently come in a slide with a floral design. I had prepaid for them, so I was there to pick them. While I was there, I looked at a few other sandals and also bought a very nice pair of navy blue with a bit of navy blue sparkle on that sandal part. Unfortunately, when I got home, I realized the sandals that I purchased online would not fit me. I don't know what I was thinking because slides never do fit my wide foot. I guess I thought they were more like flip-flops but my bad I didn't even open and checked them out while I was at the store. I'm hoping to be able to return them. I did meet the manager and will re-contact him when I get home, but I have no phone service at this time as I am out of the country. I'm very hopeful. I can get the very least due and exchange and apply the amount I paid toward a different style of shoe. There were a huge amount of different shoe design and the sizes were a very good range. Have you ever had an epiphany at a shoe store? Well, my friends , you're in for a treat. You see, I have rather large appendages, sadly, from the ankle down only... my feet have been referred to as Pods, bread loaves, boats and most recently...ships... I've been to three different podiatrists in two states... each one with their own assessment, Orthotics , bigger size, wider , earth shoes and moon shoes.. as the years accumulated, I never understood why my much maligned feet hurt all the time. Bunyons, Morton's Neruoman (damn you Morton!!) the fungus amongus and fromunda.... Until today... I finally understood what each doctor had said to me, because it was explained to me by Mr. Scott at Karavel shoes... I went in today because of a recommendation from my doctor. Little did I know that I would be some of the greatest advice I've ever listened too, like "don't run with scissors " , " you probably shouldn't eat that" and the all time favorite, " Do whatever mom tells you to do" Mr Scott should receive a honorary doctorate from the school of podiatry! Just spoke to me in simple language until the lightbulb came on... I was sized correctly, laces tied correctly, (who knew!?" It's been several years since I stepped into a Karavel shoe store, so my eyes got big when I walked into their new location. It's bright, open and airy and basically the total opposite of the store they had on Burnet. Lots of people buying shoes and lots of people selling shoes so that remained the same. The wait was long because they were having a special event. But also because their digital check in system was not working properly. Once I notified them someone actually wound up being free to help me immediately. Angela was great at trying to help me find what I wanted, fall shoes/boots with a wide toe box, flexible and close to zero drop. Not a lot to choose from with those parameters but there was enough. Unfortunately at midday during a popular shoe brand event, most of my choices didn't prove fruitful because they were out of my size. She found one boot that I really liked and I did leave with a great purse too. I'm so happy I stopped by because this is definitely not the Karavel I remember. This is the new location of Karavel shoes which was formally located on Burnet Road. One thing you will receive is personalized service, but first you have to check in. The footwear is not inexpensive here, but they do have a room off to the side dedicated just to sale shoes. Unless you're buying some flip-flops here, it's very likely your shoe purchase will definitely exceed $100. As a matter of fact, many of the running shoes seem to start at around $140 on up. One thing I did notice was the fact that almost all the shoes here are made either in China, Vietnam or Indonesia. Perhaps that's the norm these days, but I did find some New Balance shoes that were made in the USA. They also offer socks, shoe care products, baggallinis and insoles. This is a great place to meet your individual foot needs at a wonderful value. I didn't know places like this existed but am thankful they do. Upon entering the store, it was immediately apparent that this place is organized and runs like a well-oiled machine. We visited on a busy Friday afternoon. Even though there was a high volume of customers, I hardly noticed since the staff were attending to all of them. My wife was exchanging a pair of shoes for a better fit and multiple staff members made sure we were helped and apologized for the wait. Truth be told, we didn't really have much of a wait at all! Drove up, went in and looked around. Already had in mind what I wanted. Took a number (you scan a bar code to get in line) was waited on within 5 minutes. After the knowledgeable staff took my measurements and advised on stock. Got the pair I wanted, grabbed a few socks and checked out. Was a bit higher than I had expected The pair I chose was $160, got two pair socks and was unaware they were $20 each. Had no idea there are socks that are warrantied for life. Wish I knew about that years ago. I like that aspect of it and will be looking for the brand if they work out. read more

Would give 0 stars if possible. I called the store asking about Salomon xt-6 shoes and the woman over the phone assured me they had the shoes in my size and multiple colors. I drove from Corpus Christi to the store (3.5 hours each way) just to find out she lied and they don't even carry that model of Salomon shoes because she was too lazy to walk 10 feet behind the counter to look at their selection of shoes. She was also just sitting on her phone the whole time I was there while a different gentleman helped me. DO NOT SPEND MONEY HERE! My spouse and I visited Karavel recently to look for walking shoes for our upcoming vacation. It was Black Friday weekend, but we were waited on immediately! Alicia ended up being our salesperson, and she was so great!! She was fully attentive, helpful, friendly, and knowledgeable. We were learning and shopping with her. We asked about insoles and she fit them in each shoe we tried on so that we could feel the difference. There was no pressure or any annoyed vibes when we asked to try on multiple shoes, and Alicia would bring out shoes based on our feet and preferences. My one criticism of the store is that I wish there would have been a wider selection of women's shoes. Maybe it was just the weekend we visited though. I was referred here by my sports medicine physician for custom orthotics. I stepped on the fancy mat to check my feet and was offered premade orthotics in a box. I'm guessing they don't do custom orthotics since I clearly stated my needs to the sales associate. I did let my doctor know they don't do custom, so he can stop referring his athletes there. I also asked about a foot support I saw in the store, but my associate told me the person who knows about that is Very Busy and Can't Be Seen. Like the Wizard of Oz. I went after work today and I cannot say enough good things about my experience there! I had a 4:00 appointment and he waited on me around 3:55 after finishing with another customer. I used to buy all my shoes at Karavel, and all the female salespeople I've dealt with have been helpful. But the last couple visits I've gotten male salesmen who didn't even bother to measure my feet and seemed distracted and determined to get by with the bare minimum of effort. I had on a pair of shoes that I'd decided to buy when the salesman just disappeared. I waited a bit, then saw him following a very attractive young woman around the store. Did he know her? Was he hoping to know her? More recently, I'd asked to try on one of the Taos sneakers, and as the salesguy went to get them, he said he'd seen some friends come in and needed to say hello to them, but he'd be right back. I gave him way more than a reasonable time and finally just left even though I'd just wasted my time and would have to find somewhere else to buy the sneakers. Did my number expire and it suddenly, without notice, become someone else's turn? Both incidents were insulting enough that I will not be back. I love this place! My first time in today (thank you to fellow Yelpers for putting it on my radar), and I can honestly say that I have never had such a fun time shopping for shoes. And that's an understatement! Actually, I usually hate shoe shopping bc my feet are weird in different places and for different reasons and I'd rather not spend time thinking about them, much less spending $ on them. But I haven't gotten new shoes in way too long (pandemic is part of the reason), and I have foot pain and really need some nice sandals for dressier occasions since going out is a thing now (yay!). And this whole place has shoes you can trust-- every shoe has some orthopedic feature to warrant its spot in the shop, so I immediately felt good about browsing. But then after I picked out a few to try and Kelly asked if I needed help, my good experience jumped to great, and beyond. I spent over 2.5 hours in there, and it seriously felt like the blink of an eye! Kelly is a marvel, truly! Warm and friendly and knowledgeable and organized and reassuring and patient. So so patient! (Loved chatting with her too, while I was trying on and marching around the store.) I tried on several different pairs and even when I was annoyed with indecisive myself (like when I went back to try on the first few pairs I tried), she remained *incredibly* patient and kind. I really felt like she went above and beyond in helping me. I am so grateful for how she shared her expertise and her great energy. She made my first experience here absolutely wonderful, and I will most certainly be back (I am all set for summer shoes but will need help come cooler weather). I've been here twice now. It's really challenging to decide on a rating that works best. The salesman that helped me the first time was very kind and helpful. The second man was equally helpful, but gave me the creeper vibe. As far as shoe salesmen go, I would be very interested to know the percentage of them that have a foot fetish LOL! I'm pretty sure creeper dude from my second visit falls in that category. There was just a bit too much touching of the foot and telling me my feet were pretty...eek! On to the shoes at the store. Lord knows if you're shopping here, you've owned the fact that your feet freakin' hurt, you're old or you've had some ankle injuries and need some memaw shoes. I'd like to say that I'm the third category. All those things said, this place actually has a few pairs of shoes that you might see on someone under 50! No, you will not find spiked heels here, but hey, when you get to a certain age, you just know that ain't in the cards. They have sensible shoes and fairly high prices, but I have been supremely happy with the shoes once I wore them a few times. The great thing about this place is they actually take the time to fit you in the right shoe. Sometimes what we think is right...isn't always the best in the long run. Happy customer, and will go back. Just might be a bit more selective with my salesmen. Oh, who the hell cares, I guess if he gets his jollies touching my feet, whatever.
