Big, no wait... HUGE fan of P.F. Candle Company!…read more They are a local candle company with their warehouse only a few miles from my house in Downey, C-A-L-I-F-O-R-N-I-A. I've heard of their candles sold throughout various places in Greater L.A., but they have separate stores on Washington Boulevard in Culver City and on Sunset Boulevard in L.A. This warehouse, though, has a crazy awesome sale once every year. It's called a "Seconds Sale" and this year (2020) it was on February 29. They accept plastic only, no cash. Word on the street is that they sold out that day of all of their older inventory and slightly-blemished goods. Most recently, I was feeling a bit depressed because we were supposed to visit my family who I have not seen in a couple of years. Since the COVID-19 quarantine ruined my spring break trip, I opted to support a local business and send my mom a couple of large candles for her birthday. Meanwhile, I bought three smaller ones for our house. I'm in love with these handmade lovelies... First off, the crew at P.F. Candle Co. is hustlin' baby! I placed separate orders on a Thursday evening and I received my charming amber-colored jars on Saturday morning. Wow! My Texas-born mama who now resides in New Mexico received her shipment the following Friday - well before her actually birthday. Second... Did I mention they offered free ground shipping in the U.S.?! Finally, there are quite a few scents from which to choose. Not all scents are available in every size. But all three of mine have been lit and are very lovely. My personal favorite thus far, though, is No. 04 Teakwood & Tobacco. Next in line is No. 21 Golden Coast. It consists of a strong presence of eucalyptus and reminds me of camping in Big Sur (which we were doing this time last year). And the scent "Los Angeles" has a certain "spice" to it that I wasn't expecting (even though I read the description). Candles come in the the following sizes: 7.2 oz. standard, 8 oz. terra, 10 oz. sunset, & 12.5 oz. large. Also sold are incense packs, reed diffusers, room sprays... And I saw something about a unisex perfume on a flyer a couple months ago, but currently I don't see anything about that on their website: https://pfcandleco.com Looking forward to more scents in the future! And HINT HINT... Mother's Day is just around the corner. :)

Besides they even have a candle smell call Los Angeles. It smells nice, and wish they make more. Be interested in seeing other city named candles. Candles are not the only thing they carry. You can find car scents, incense, soap, and more. Smells will change throughout the year and a big reason for our return. So if you are looking for something new try p.f. Candle.

I learned something: Their scents rotate!…read more Last time I was here, I bought a bunch of "Los Angeles" scents to give away as Christmas gifts to out of town family. But they don't have all the different products for that scent anymore. Makes sense --- since they now also have a bunch of new ones that I am excited to try like the Bergamot Shiso and their Enoki Cedar. Parking on the street in front of the shop is difficult, but I was able to find one two blocks away. Got some steps in. Their Teakwood & Tobacco is one of my favorites and I got some refill. Glad they are open weekday. No crowd. Friendly staff. I love how they have a big airy space so the scents don't become overwhelming. I also love how they organized and displayed their products -- logical.

I was a little overwhelmed while trying to figure out what to buy, but I took my time to scope out all of the different scents. I'm pretty satisfied with the two candles that I ended up getting and I appreciate how carefully they were each paper-wrapped! Hopefully I'll be back again to get something for myself! It's such a cute little shop. Thanks again for the wonderful service!

She was so chill, patient, and engaging! I didn't feel embarrassed if I made mistake. Just a nice experience overall.

The staff were super nice and helpful and fun and engaging. They offered suggestions even though there were 25+ of us in various stages of attentiveness. Everyone really enjoyed themselves. I had such a nice time that I booked another experience to celebrate my daughter's birthday. This time was different and felt ... perfunctory. We arrived right before our scheduled time, I was starting to tell the person who received us (I was told she was the owner even) that we had arrived quite a bit early (like we got there before the store even opened so we walked around for a bit before arriving 1 min before our reservation) before she abruptly said no it was already time and everyone else had gotten started. Just reminded me of the plethora of email reminders I'd received from them reminding us to arrive on time, allow time for parking, etc. She didn't even greet us or say hello or welcome. Never introduced herself, never asked our names. Just a "do you have a reservation?" And told us to put our stuff down (didn't tell us where) and put on an apron. We ended up putting our things down on someone else's seats because others were standing in front of ours while four others were choosing their scents for their candles. Told us we'd have to wait since there was no room for us to choose our scents so we just stood there. No one even said, hey why don't you wander around the store for a bit until space clears up. And why rudely tell us they'd already started when we just had to stand there and wait anyway? I really felt like we were in the way rather than paying customers, so I told my girls they could look around the shop for a minute rather than awkwardly stand there in front of someone else's seats. The person who helped us with our candle making was nice but kind of just gave us instructions of what to do. One of the girls mentioned how it was kind of like chemistry class so we all talked about science for a bit. I reminded the staff that the day was for my daughter's birthday (I had specified on the reservation) so she gave a quick little happy birthday before moving on. I didn't feel she was particularly helpful though. I asked how we can decide how much of one scent versus another and she just said you kind of just smell it. My daughter asked if she could make the color of her candle a little lighter and the person was just like, well, we can't guarantee what it will look like, but she was very helpful in breaking up the colored wax for her. When we returned to pick up our candles, that was it, they were just sitting there on the counter, packaged up and crammed into one little bag. I wanted to ask for another bag since each candle was going to a different household, but the staff gave off vibes of "go away". I distinctly remember the first time, each candle was packaged in their own little bag with the lid off the candle and they told us it was really important to let the candle "cure" and completely dry for three days before putting the lid on or lighting it. This time the candles were sealed up, no thank you for coming. No I hope you enjoy your candles. I can only assume this day was an outlier and maybe the staff were having a not great day. The experience is not cheap at $60 for which you create a 7 oz candle. I understand the cost isn't just for a candle, but for the experience of creating. The cost of the materials was probably minimal. But for that expense, I would have expected the experience to be a little less icy and a little more friendly (like during my first visit). Thankfully, my girls enjoyed their candles and had fun and were super thankful.
