I immediately fell in love with Emily's artistry when I stumbled upon her Instagram! Words cannot explain how beautifully she captures everything so check out a few of the wedding pics I shared along with this review, as they speak volumes about her work. Emily's packages were also very reasonably priced, which left room for my now husband and I to add on a wedding album and USB drive of all the photos to our package. I don't think you'll find a better value for the quality of wedding photos that Emily delivers. Emily is also such a kind and accommodating person! Our wedding ceremony and reception was planned for March 21 2020, when the COVID-19 pandemic abruptly shuttered everything on Oahu. So instead of the 200 person reception we planned, we postponed the reception with our extended family and friends to next year and opted to marry in an intimate ceremony with our immediate family instead. Throughout this whole craziness that unfolded in a matter of 2 days, Emily was extremely sympathetic. She was able to still come out for a mini session and capture our intimate ceremony. She was very nice and was more than happy to postponed our wedding package to next year when we get to celebrate with everyone else. She arrived early day-of and was very good at people wrangling too! She guided our family efficiently and got all the family pictures in, and had a way of making my husband feel less camera shy. The day after our ceremony, Emily had already sent me some sneak peeks that looked amazing and that we could share with our family and friends! And within one month she had finished editing the entire gallery from our wedding. As a photographer myself, I know the importance of family photos and I wanted to find a photographer who could shoot film as well as digital (something that was hard to find in San Diego!) Once I decided I wanted Emily to take our family photos, I decided I wanted to also book a mentorship session with her. Reviewing our family photo experience: Emily was so communicative and helpful in working together to find the perfect spot to take our photos! We had rain forecasted on the morning of our shoot so we changed plans last minute and it was perfect! She also helped me decide on what outfits to wear and was just generally the best hype girl I could ask for! We chatted back and forth about my vision for our time together and I was just so excited for our photoshoot! I chose to add a film photography package and she shot TWO rolls of 35mm film during our session which is super impressive!! During our photoshoot she was so kind and calm and worked so well with our crazy almost-four-year-old and 7 month old! She captured my vision perfectly and I can't say enough good things about our time together!! Reviewing my mentorship experience: I really value continuing to learn from other photographers whenever I can and I knew Emily had experience in underwater photography - something I have been interested in but have been too chicken to try. I'm NOT a diver by any means but Emily was so helpful in choosing a spot that wasn't super hard to swim out to and even bringing snorkle gear and fins for me to use! I brought my 35mm film underwater camera and she taught me how to use her underwater housing for her digital camera. I also need to mention -- as soon as we got in the water, there was a freaking sea turtle right right there!! (We gave it plenty of space but OMG SO COOL!!) After playing around in the water and learning how to get some cool shots (it's waaay harder than it looks!!) (& she found us the cutest couple to model for us!!) we hopped out and she showed me how she would edit the RAW photos and gave me all her tips and tricks to continue to build my business. Here's the best part: a few days after our mentorship she sent me THE BEST recap email. She included everything we talked about the whole day: gear recommendations, poses for underwater, how to get more inquiries, tips for editing underwater photos, literally everything we talked about. (Which was AMAZING because I wasn't able to take notes and I immediately forgot everything we talked about as soon as we got home LOL.) Renai Photography is THE BEST!!…read more My Fiancee Rey and I had planned on getting married in Hawaii (he proposed in Hawaii as well). I knew from the get go that I wanted Renai Photography to capture our most special day. While planning for our Hawaiian wedding, Eddy (the owner) was so very helpful. He gave me so much information on great vendors on the island. Everyone he pointed me in the direction of was so great!! As time progressed, we had to change our wedding to be back home (in San Francisco, CA) due to the fact that my elders are unable to fly on a plane. I was bummed. I had to start all over again to try to find a photographer in the area. It was useless, no matter how hard I looked, I didn't find any other photographer who's work I was in awe with. Lucky for me, my search was over. We decided to still get Eddy for our wedding, we'd just have him fly over. :) Eddy flew into town in February to take our engagement photos. I was nervous being that we'd never met before (nor even spoke over the phone, however we emailed each other constantly and are friends of Facebook, ha!!) But soon after we met, my nerves were put to rest. Eddy is such a great photographer!! He's very easy going, friendly, personable, and professional. What was even more impressive is that although Eddy doesn't live here, he found GREAT places for us to take our engagement photos. He did his research well, we were very impressed! I have to say I think the photo shoot was a great way to get my Fiancee and I together to just laugh and be silly. Throughout the shoot we were just laughing so hard, my cheeks were hurting!! Eddy told us the photos would be ready in 2-3 weeks, but we woke up the next day to a fantastic surprise!! He gave a great teaser!! I was really going to try to not think of the photos for those 2-3 weeks, but that teaser just made me even more antsy because I saw a glimpse at how amazing the photos would turn out!! Through out the 2 weeks of waiting, we've gotten a handful of teasers sent to us randomly. They are such a fun treat, and a great pick me upper!! (I'll post some of the teasers in the photos section for you all to drool over!! Haha!!) All of our friends and family were so impressed. A few comments were: -"Wow, looks like a postcard!!" -"Is that photoshopped?? Is it real?? On a green screen perhaps??" -"This looks just like a movie scene!!" -"This looks like something straight out of a magazine. Like an ad!!" I can't tell you how many of our friends and family told us that they got teary from seeing our photos. Everyone including us was very moved at how magical the photos are. We've got about a week left until we get the rest of the photos from our engagement session, and we are so excited!! The anticipation is killing me!! Eddy was by far THE MOST helpful vendor we had. He went above and beyond his responsibilities as a photographer. He gave us advice on all the different vendors that we needed for our wedding and pointed us to the best vendors and venues on the island. He helped us make a timeline for our wedding and he was instrumental in keeping us on time through out the wedding day. He must have had multiple weddings scheduled ahead of us... but we never felt that he was too busy for our questions and concerns. He was probably one of the rare Hawaiian vendors who responds to emails the same day or the next day. Since I was hiring vendors without meeting them, I asked him for a Skype meeting which he happily granted. That first meeting sealed the deal. He was very professional and detail oriented when asking us about the plans for our wedding. His portfolio was jaw droppingly amazing! At the same time, he was so humble and so friendly, and easy to talk to. I knew that I would be very comfortable being photographed by him. After we hung up from our Skype meeting, I felt very assured and confident in Eddy. I knew at that first meeting we HAD to hire him. We hired him for our engagement session, day of wedding photography, and trash the dress. The photos speak for themselves. The way he captures light and the natural beauty of hawaii's sunsets are incredible. For our engagement session, he had 1 assistant, Tiani who was very pleasant and great to work with. We loved Jason Deng's work, and she was able to secure him for our date as well as set up a quick initial video call with him. On the day of, Jason and his second photographer Kristin were prompt, professional, and so easy to work with. Jason does a great job of giving everyone clear directions in front of the camera, and makes the process enjoyable and easy. He even asked if I had a preferred side of my face (I do) and positioned the shots to accommodate that. This attention to detail was something that we really appreciated. The photos themselves turned out incredible and we're beyond happy with the result. It's exactly what we were envisioning - natural and warm, yet intentional, shots that capture the story of our day. Although the turnaround time is quoted as 6 weeks in the contract, they finished ours in nearly 3, which is insanely fast. We even had a request for the editing style which Leanne relayed to the team and it was well reflected in the photos we received. Even though our Kahala package only included 48 4x6 prints, Visionari sent us more than double that - they printed around 100 "highlight" photos. For the video side of things, Sam was equally as professional, friendly, and seamless as the photographers. We opted for the ceremony only package, and the 20 minute-long video is the perfect record of our ceremony. The shots and audio are crisp and clear, and the editing is clean. The final video was high-quality and well put-together without being overdone. We prefer a simpler, straightforward feel for video, so this perfectly aligned with what we were looking for. Overall, Visionari captured our day beautifully. We're so happy we chose them and would gladly recommend their amazing service to any couple!
