Much more educated places out there. Went as first time contact user. Was not asked any questions about preferences and was automatically prescribed a difficult and more unsanitary style. Talked to friends and learned there were more modern types of contacts and had to teach office about these options. I would rather go somewhere that keeps up with the market. read more

I would not recommend this practice. I made an appointment to see Dr. Saland, I was seen by a different doctor without my knowledge, I had a problem with my eye that was not acknowledged by the doctor until I mentioned it to her, she then went to dismiss the problem telling me that it was nothing. I had to go to a different doctor that diagnosed an infection in my eye and had to prescribe antibiotics. A month late, I get extra billing fees from Dr. Saland, I had paid the deductible and a contact fitting fee ( that I had never paid before with any other ophthalmologist) Totally dissatisfy with this practice. read more

I was referred by my physician to Dr. Saland. unfortunately it was a bad experience and seemed to get worse. they wanted to be prepaid for every service. I was told I needed to get contact lenses for my best vision. I also had to pay $75 for refraction and another 100+ for fitting. i had to prepay for the contacts too Another $185. when the contacts came in they were extremely uncomfortable and I tried them for a week. when I took them back. I told them ,that they were not working for me (also I had worn gas permeable lenses for years). no satisfaction, they would not take them back. never have I had an eye doctor not take lenses that didn't fit right back. they are more interested in money than satisfying there patients read more

They need to learn concept of "appointment". I had 8:30 AM appointment. Reached there 10 min early to fill out the paperwork and was ready to see the doctor by 8:30. Someone did some basic vision test (read letters etc) and then left me waiting in a room around 8:40 saying "Doctor will be with you shortly". I waited till 9:45 and lost my patience. People at the front desk kept saying "Doctor will be here any minute" for an hour. Respect other people's time. I would have appreciated some honest response like - "Doctor is running late. I woke up the other morning with a swollen eyelid that was covered in crust. It was quite painful. When I tried to make an appointment with Dr. Saland, I was told that she might be able to see me the following day. I tried explaining the situation to the receptionist but she wouldn't help. To make a long story short, I did get help,but not by Dr. Saland. Thank goodness my husband is a physician. When I went to pick up my glasses a few days later, I told someone in the office what had happened. I have never heard back from anyone in Dr Saland's office. Not treating an eye infection immediately is inexcusable. FYI. You had better bring cash or a debit card. If you use a credit card, the office charges you an additional 3.5%. My whole Family has been going to Dr Saland for the last eight years ( retinal detachment , high myopia ....) . I can't think of another doctor Who can be as thoughtful as her . She always advices us as if my kids were hers. Dr Saland did my husband's cataract surgery , he couldn't be happier . We are so glad we found her , it's not easy to find someone who has good bedside manners and who is excellent at her job . When it comes to the staff , they are a few of them who have been with her for a long time . The others are young still getting trained . I don't mind . read more

I highly recommend Dr. Saland. She is very professional and thorough. The staff is friendly and efficient. She examined me for macular degeneration and assured me that I had no problem. This was very reassuring after being told by an optometrist (outside of her practice) that I had the disease. I will definitely return to her. Her credentials ate outstanding too. read more

DO NOT COME HERE! They are NOTHING but a SCAM company who IS IN ON making money OFF of you! Without telling you, after your exam and when your eyes are dilated, Saland Vision charges you an additional $65. That $65 is a charge that is NON REFUNDABLE - but if you go to their Over Charged on sight boutique - they will gladly discount that $65. The boutique will upsale your lens by 200%+. That's right! My quote for my (LENS ONLY) READERS were $195-$225. My quote from Sams Club, Lens Crafters and Pearl Vision was $49-$79. Now... get this... months later my readers fall off my head and broke. I need a replacement pair quickly and I ask Simone and the office manager of Saland Vision to fax my prescription to a Quick Repair Shop... Guess what happens now??? SALAND VISION IS HOLDING MY ALREADY PAID FOR PRESCRIPTION HOSTAGE! Saland Vision requires another $65.00 to release my readers prescription. What does this tell you? Overall, not a great experience. It made me want to drive 5 hours to Houston to go see my old eye doctor. My appointment was at 11:30 am, but I didn't end up leaving until 2:30 pm, and one of those hours I was sitting in the eye exam room with no one letting me know why it was taking so long. I saw Saland for about 5 minutes. She was brief, abrupt, didn't take time to listen to me or hear about my eyes, nor tell me about my eyes. They then told me I had something in my right eye that they may recommend me to see a specialist for, but again, no one sat down to explain it to me. Then, I receive an email after my appointment that they want to refer me to a specialist, but no explanation. So I call the specialist but they won't accept me until I can be more specific. When it came time to check out, they couldn't figure out how to print my prescriptions, and none of the doctors who knew how were free enough to help, so I waited another 20 minutes. I also had a question about my glasses prescription that hasn't changed in 4 years, but did this visit - but everyone I asked was too busy. Maybe it will be a good place for you if you like to wait for a long time, and don't like to know what is going on with your eyes. read more

Dr Saland prescribed me 2 different drops for my eyes. I was doing back flips trying to get them covered by my insurance. After much frustration over not getting the prescriptions covered and the general disorganization of this office I finally changed doctors. My new doctor told me that the reason I could not get both prescriptions covered by insurance is because I was not suppose to be taking the 2 prescriptions at the same time! I could go on and on about the disorganization of this office but let me just sum it up by saying that the right hand does not know what the left hand is doing. read more

Dr Saland saved me after suffering for months with an eye infection missed by my previous doctor. She fit in my appointment quickly, went out of her way to explain what was going on and what my course of treatment would be, and was very thoughtful concerning my personal out of pocket costs for my treatment options. I never felt that push to "sell" unneeded care like in some eye surgery "mills" around these days. She was really looking out for my eye health. My eyesight has improved dramatically. The optometrist corrected my contact and glasses prescriptions and Andrea the optician is the best I've found in Dallas. They have a really nice selection of glass frames in a variety of price ranges available as well. read more

This is an outstanding office. Dr. Saland and the entire staff care about the needs of their patients and attentive to their concerns. The physical office is light and bright and very welcoming . I was a patient a few years ago but moved to another Ophthalmologist because appointments ran so far behind. I decided to try again because I really liked Dr. Saland but after waiting for almost an hour, I finally left. At a minimum, some communication from the office staff would be helpful. If you have lots of extra time in your day, she may be a good choice. read more

Someone recommended this practice. I have had several experiences with them in eye exam, getting prescription contact lenses so did my husband. I was trying out several contact lenses. The Dr. who handled prescription was patient and personable. The wait was always terrible (about 45 mins late). What pushed us away was the manner of the head Ophthalmologist. I called this office several months ago interested in possibly scheduling an eye exam. I decided not to go after they told me the wait time. Today I received a phone call concerning an "overdue eye appointment." First of all, I never made an appointment with this office in the first place. I have no desire to be on their phone list. If I have no intention of every going to this place how can my appointment be "overdue". They are probably trying to scam older people with memory issues or something like that. Terrible. read more

I get it. This place takes HMO so therefore they have to upsell everything to a patient. I have the most expensive BCBS HMO plan, but I'm sure the reimbursements aren't that high. So I have a $50 co-insurance. The office then wanted $65 for a refractive test which is waived if you buy glasses from them. Then for contact lens, there's a fee of $150-225 for an exam and a "fitting." Why would I need a "fitting" if I'm buying my contact lens elsewhere. My previous opthamologist, which I can't recommend enough charges around $150 for everything without any insurance. read more

This is the most incompetent and arrogant Dr's office I've ever encountered. After a 40 minute wait past my appt time, I finally got an eye exam, but not by an Optometrist or Opthamologist. It was done by a "technician". I then had my presription filled for glasses and sunglasses but I could not see well with them. I dismissed it as having to get accustomed to a new prescription. But a couple weeks later I started getting headaches. I took the glasses back to the store to confirm the correct script in the lenses, and it was correct. The store recommended I have my eyes re-checked. This time I required Saland's office to have an Optometrist administer the exam. Dr. Nguyen completed my exam, and asked me who did the first one. I told her a technician there did it. She informed me the second exam was significantly different than the first one and I would see much better. I had my glasses re-made and the store was kind enough to discount it substantially since I had spent so much money. But I was still out a lot of money, so I asked Dr. Saland cordially to reimburse me for the additional cost of $350. I got no response so I put it in writing, twice. I still got no response, so I finally got Jennifer on the phone today. Saland is too arrogant to speak to patients. Jennifer informed me that "my new prescription was almost the same as the first one and I should have got it taken care of within 10 days of the first exam so they would not reimburse me". So I've just emailed my attorney with the facts and my receipts totaling $2,350. I'm also filing a complaint with the Texas Medical Board and the BBB. I want to make sure this arrogant, incompetent business is not allowed to do this to others. read more

Saland Vision boastfully publicizes that she is in "D Magazine" (seriousssly, I see her magazine ads of herself EVERWHERE in her practice... in the waiting room, by the checkout area, etc), but there are plenty of eye doctor places in Dallas that deliver better service! I just wanted to warn everyone not to go to this doctor. Yes, she is listed in D magazine as some of the "top doctors" - but her staff is HORRIBLE - I have had my contacts messed up severely ummmm three times! it is always such a process to get anything as simple as your medical records there. you will wait at least an hour beyond your appointment time to see the doctor. her staff does most of the eye stuff except for about 5 minutes - the staff is constantly new and complaining about the prior staff members that use to work there. the last time i went the staff girl told me that if she were me, she wouldn't come back.....so there you go! I have never felt this way about any other eye doctor - but felt i needed to let everyone know and warn them. read more

Please don't go to SALAND VISION. They hoard my money by deceiving me and refused to refund me. I went for my eyeglass prescription because this place was on the list of providers for my insurance and it was fairly close to my house. I put a big question mark on the contact lens section of the new patient paperwork because I had never tried contact lens. When I was asked, I explained how critical it was for me to be able to read music because I take voice lessons and piano lessons. I said "I AM WILLING TO UNDERGO CONTACT LENS EXAM IF AND ONLY IF I CAN READ THE MUSIC." The doctor said "OK," and made me sign a bunch of paper work. After a brief exam, he gave me a pair of contact lens and asked me to come back in 2 weeks, telling me that it would take about 2 weeks for my eyes to get used to wearing contact lens. I paid $300 ($50 for co-pay and $250 for contact lens exam.) Can you believe that? The contact lens worked for distance only. I had trouble seeing the computer screen at work. OMG, when I tried to play piano, I couldn't read the music at all. The piano book on the piano and the voice book on the music stand all appeared black. I attended previously scheduled piano lessons and voice lessons, but the lessons were waste of time and money because I couldn't read music. When I went back to the office for the 2-week follow up, I complained about not being able to play piano and not being able to sing. THEN the doctor finally said, "Wearing contact lens will never be as good as wearing glasses." He said my alternative would be to wear contact lens for distance, wear a pair of glasses for music, and wear another pair of glasses for close up. I told them, "I WISH YOU HAD TOLD ME BEFORE THE EXAM, THEN I WOULD NOT HAVE BOTHERED TO TRY CONTACT LENS AND I WOULD NOT HAVE WASTED MY PIANO LESSON FEE AND VOICE LESSON FEE." When I asked for my money back, they printed out the statement and told me to send a claim to my insurance company. My insurance company paid SALAND VISION $58.71 on top of what I paid and called me to inform me that 'contact lens fitting' was not covered by the insurance. The representative at my insurance company tried to call SALAND VISION many times to put a three-way call to request refund for me, but SALAND VISION NEVER answered the phone. I had to call SALAND VISION numerous times on my own before I finally talked to the meanest billing department person in the world. Just because I did not voice record, nor did I write down the condition I had told them before the exam, which was "I AM WILLING TO UNDERGO CONTACT LENS EXAM IF AND ONLY IF I CAN READ THE MUSIC," he said what I said was not on the contract and I had never said that. Instead of giving my money back, he called me a 'liar.' Furthermore, the doctor claimed that he had told me that he would not guarantee that I would be able to read my music, which was a FLAT LIE! Had he told me such, why would I have tried the contact lens? The bottom line is DO NOT GO TO SALAND VISION unless you have time and money to waste! I had never been to a doctor's office where the staff called me by a name such as 'liar.' What they charged me was outrageous. You can get contact lens exam at elsewhere at a much lower price. I wish there were a half star because SALAND VISION DOES NOT EVEN DESERVE ONE STAR! read more
