One of the best parks in Fremont; everyone can come together and enjoy! This park is incredibly huge -- love the open space! There is a basketball court, field, and also a play structures for kids to play. It's a big space; it's not cluttered. There are grills and tables for bbq. Lots of trees as well. The bathrooms are available for men and women, they're cleaner than what I would have expected from a public park. There is a parking lot available as well as street parking. A great park for get togethers and parties but also good for the daily decompression. With its large grassy area, two interactive playgrounds for kids of all ages, basketball courts, two parking lots and plenty of street parking, and decent bathroom and drinking water facilities, Karl Nordvik Park is a popular one and brings in many of the locals and residents nearby. Tucked behind the semi-public sports field typically used by organized sports teams, the park is easily accessible with plenty of parking spots. The ramps make it easy to load and unload passengers and stuff for your day out. The picnic tables and barbecue pit is great for hosting mealtime and celebrations but we found that the grassy field was just as good if you have a canopy available. The flooring is quite flat and well maintained for the most part. If you have children with you, the playgrounds offer ample space for them to imaginary play and work on body control. The flooring is padded so no worries about splinters from bark. They have a smaller dedicated playground for younger children that has slides and climbing structures. Swings are found in the middle and are low enough for younger children to clamber on. A rope structure offers some more advanced climbing and the larger structure has some taller slides for those thrill seekers. I found that the basketball courts are typically taken but if you're looking for players, you'll have your pick here! The bathrooms are accessible and are relatively well maintained. There's also a water fountain if you didn't bring your own fluids. Overall, Karl Nordvik Park is a solid park for children, families, and sports enthusiasts. The park has been around for a long time and it's been upgraded recently and it seems to also be better maintained since. If you need a place to relax or looking to embark in some park related activities, Karl Nordvik is conveniently located near the bridge and highway as well as many residential properties. One of the best park and playground around the community. The trees and meadow are well trimmed and watered. The playground is bigger than most other community parks', and there are many different options to play for kids of different ages. The ground is softball field, very safe for kids. read more

Karl Nordvik Park is named for the entirety of the acreage. not all of it is available to the general public per se. the softball field, soccer/lacrosse field has to be "reserved". only authorized sports equipment can be used thereon. there's also swings, hoops, and 2 children's play area, concrete walkways. some parking spaces available on the side. read more

This is a really great park for many reasons. Ample parking, not close to a busy street, basketball courts and huge grass areas, a picnic area, etc, in addition to 2 separate playgrounds: one for big kids and one for little kids. I love that they have many different options for play. The equipment is clean and well maintained. The park also has bathrooms - a must if you have kids. The only downside is there is no shade and this park gets very hot during the summer. read more

Karl Nordvik Park is located here in North Fremont, closer to the Newark Border. Only walking distance from where I live, this community park, is situated near many housing communities and is pretty big with a decent parking lot. There is also street parking if needed. The park is pretty clean, there wasn't much trash lying around. It has 2 full basketball courts, with nets attached to the baskets. There is also a pretty decent sized baseball field. Now, for the little younger ones, there are 2 playgrounds. One for little ones, and one for older ones to play in. There pretty well kept, clean, and easy for kids to use. This community park, does have a restroom/bathroom for you to use, although I've never used it before. Safety: Should be fine, usually lot of families here because it's located near bunch of housing communities. However, you should always be on the look out for strange things happening and be aware of your surroundings. Overall, this is a great park to spend sometime with friends just to chill, play, have fun, be athletic, and be outgoing! read more

One of my favorite places to play basketball. It's one of the few in the area that have 2 full courts (with college 3-point lines), and the competition is pretty much on the intermediate level. If you don't get along well with double rimmed hoops, this probably isn't the place for you. Well, only one of the 4 available baskets is single rimmed, which is a lot more encouraging. Usually, there's enough people to run one-full court game on the weekdays, usually around mid-afternoon til early evening. In some cases, 2 full court games will go on. Haven't been here on the weekends when there's usually a good amount of people, but there's usually at least one hoop available to practice your shooting. The courts surfaces are a little uneven, and one of the courts' rims is a little tilted toward one side. The court closest to the playground can use some revitalizing considering there are some cracks. You can also expect some wind to drift in coming off the shore. The playground is usually busy with parents taking their little kids to run around and socialize with each other. Easily a good family park located in a quiet neighborhood. Great place to get a pickup game going. Watch out for the double rims! read more

Being a father of two little girls, I'm always on the look out for a park that I could let my kids run wild and expend some of that endless energy. I decided to drop by and check this place out over the weekend. First thing I noticed, they have a small playground for toddlers, and a bigger playground for bigger kids. Wish there were more swings for the babies, and the actual play structures were a bit bigger, but I really did appreciate out how clean and well kept everything was. From the playground all the way out to the picnic tables and the grass area. Large garbage bins were placed about every 25 feet, so I could see this place being perfect for a family picnic. A really nice neighborhood park that's close to the Newark/Fremont border. They've redone the field portion of the park so it looks really nice. The playground is also cool. There's a section for smaller kids and the larger section for older kids is separate. There are plenty of benches, and even some picnic tables. There's a ton of space for kids to run around near the playground, and also a big field. Love this park, and I'm glad it's pretty close to where I live. I would drive a little further out to go here instead of some of the Newark parks because it's cleaner and more updated. read more

This is my childhood park, and now my work bus stop (: . Pros: Cute jungle gym with lots of grass area and nearby bathrooms. It's clean and never gets too crowded. I bring my dog here walking sometimes. Cons: there's not enough shade; the trees have been there for years and they just grow so slowly. There is at least one BBQ and some benches, but it's probably only enough for one big gathering or two small gatherings. Also, the football field is closed and locked unless you request to use it by permit, which blows. It used to be an open baseball field that I would run around years before. We came to this park during a birthday party. My husband came here before when he practiced basketball so he was familiar with the place. The park was clean and pretty big. The party took the one picnic area that the park had but there are no trees to cover the area. If you have a party there on a nice warm day, you should bring a tent. There are two areas for the kids to play in. One area is for the smaller kids and the other area is for the older kids. My friend lives near that park so I probably would suggest that to her for playdates. read more

Great for running around, playing a game, lying on grass for a picnic. Picnic Tables: Yes Shade: Very little. This is the only complaint I have. The structures and play area are 100% exposed. Be sure to put sunblock and hats on your kids. Parking: Parking lot and street parking. Plenty. Safety: in a very good area of Fremont. Rarely any shady looking people, sometimes your wanna-be thug basketball player on the courts but they mind their own business. Final Comment: We love this park. It's modern, safe, clean. This park is clean. Not crowded during the day. Comes with 2 full basketball court. The playground is pretty big and safe. A lot of grass space and an isolated baseball field. Plenty of parking in the parking lot plus you can park on the side. The restrooms are clean. The only thing lacking is trees. On a hot day, there isn't much place to chill under. read more
